Occasionally we get emails from FFA or 4H students asking if we want to purchase their pig for meat; they’ve somehow seen the “farm” in our name and gotten confused about who we are and what we do here. When that happens, we always reply kindly, explain the mission of sanctuaries, and share Sebastian’s story with them. In 2017 when a young woman named Audori chose to raise the money to buy her pig from the school’s FFA program and send him to Blackberry Creek instead of the slaughterhouse, @nosh.on.plants made a video of the experience. We always send that video along with the message that it’s never too late for students in these programs to change and save their beloved animal’s life instead of betraying them and sending them to their death. Sebastian will celebrate his fourth rescueversary with us this July and would have been killed at only six months old in the FFA program. So many of these poor pigs are ending up at animal controls & rescues because, people are not realizing, they will not stay small. The terms micro, teacup & nano are just ways to sell pigs & make money. The cute baby pigs on the internet are only days old. Sebastian is so excited about all the pumpkins on their way from our @theburgerpatch collection, he can hardly stand it! This little piggy was supposed to be killed at 6 months old after being raised in an FFA program in SoCal, but he hit the jackpot when his teenage owner decided to raise money herself to save him from slaughter and find him a sanctuary home instead. Happy 5th birthday to the BEST three pig brothers in the whole wide world! 🐷🐷🐷Cromwell, Grover, and Sir Andrew K. Smudgecake were born five years ago today at a shelter after their mother made a daring leap off the back of a transport truck on the freeway saving ALL of their lives! Brave mother Rita was headed to slaughter, and instead she defied death not once, but twice, as she survived not only the horrifying meat industry, but the harrowing jump onto the shoulder of Highway 50 as well. Taken in by our friends @_animalplace Rita lived her remaining years in safety and peace along with her six other piglets (all alive and well at Animal Place to this day), and we were honored to adopt these three. They are each extremely special individuals; Cromwell is charismatic and extremely personable, Grover is independent and clever, and Smudgie is extremely sensitive and brave (he survived a stroke at age two and defied the odds at UC Davis when they said he likely wouldn’t make it). These three were the first to teach us all about what magical people pigs are. We promise them, on their birthday and always, that we will continue to fight every day toward the dream that one day the world will be a safe place for these gentle, intelligent, magnificent beings. Images of one of the happiest time a human like me can feel ✨At the event Gobbles&Groove , they had plenty of pumpkins to feed these cuties , which is something that makes them static happy 😊 ✨✨✨These cuties were rescued by the @catskill_animal_sanctuary and now understand what love is , and live without fears ✨✨✨I have learned a lot with the animal tour guide at the this fabulous place ; of them explained how different , the rescued pigs at the sanctuaries are fed from the ones in the industries ,which is extremely unhealthy for them , the name way it can be deadly for no vegans ✨In the industry the pigs , in order to make them to grow faster (including the so called organic and humans ) , they all need to be fatten fast , to be killed faster to fit the demand they need to be fed massive quantities of soy with antibiotics ✨🙏the growing - promoting standards practices among meat and dairy producers✨However this type of system in the animal agriculture is not helping none of us, Animal agriculture is not helping lovely leaving being that are just like our dogs . Animal agriculture ais not helping our environment , quite the contrary is destroying our climate ✨Animal agriculture damage people’s health and the whole humans kind✨Oh, I had also learned how healthy , they are Fed at the #catskillanimalsanctuary , who during this year feed pigs with plenty of pumpkins, that grows locally and it is on season .✨Also They love to feed the rescue residents animals with plenty of apples ; from their own trees or growing locally , among other goodies that are not meat or animals products. Mostly important animal sanctuaries have no need to make the pigs and other animals ,to be fatten fast, there is no need to kill them , the only need at this place is to keep them loved , healthy , happy and well taken care .✨🌼It is much better to live them and interest be with such lovely animals .
