The Three Little Pigs

A mother pig is talking to her three piglets.
She tells them that they are grown up now, and it is time for them to leave home and build their own houses.
The first pig builds a house of straw.
He thinks that it will be quick and easy, and he does not need to work very hard.
What if Snowball, Squealer and Napoleon were actually the three little pigs? Before they got to animal farm, when they were younger, in the land near the Manor Farm, the three pigs were living their lives in their tiny family house. Then, it became too little and they had to build their own houses, which led to: three little furious pigs. Man had done them wrong and now, more than ever, animals were after revenge.

It’s not really clear how the pigs got into the dominance position, but what if we could know the truth behind it. Once upon a time, there were three little pigs, Napoleon, Squealer and Snowball. They used to live in their parent’s house, until others were being born and it became too much. They had to move out. The three older brothers left their house together and had a big challenge up front: houses don't appear in nature, so they had to build their own.
Napoleon wanted to be able to reach the next step in life as soon as possible, that’s why he went on to pick up as much straw as he could carry in his young back and built a somewhat fragile structure, but as long as it didn’t fall, he was completely fine with it.
Squealer, on the other hand, wanted to build his house out of wood. He considered his house had to be better established than Napoleon’s. However, he picked and built everything in a hurry, worried about finishing it earlier, and not long after a pure wood house was called home by Squealer. He knew his house wouldn’t last that long, but he considered this a future problem to be solved by future Squealer.
Snowball, as the one who thought things through the most, created a house better than both his brothers. He found a pretty good clay source and started making some bricks out of it. Succeeding, he moved on to searching for a flat surface on which he would build his house on. He found the perfect place: it was flat, had water nearby, and was quite good soil for agriculture.
They continued living there peacefully for the next year. Until one sunday morning, the three pigs started to listen to slow steps coming their way. It sounded like a predator, one of the biggest animals they had heard of. However, they genuinely thought they were considerably safe since they had houses to protect themselves from any threat. The sound of the steps kept getting louder and louder every second. Until some voices started. The only part they heard was: "Sold!". At the time they didn't understand, so they just moved on, forgetting what had just happened.
Some days later it came back. This time it had a lot more sounds. Machines… voices… steps, there were even signs of other animals coming along. At first, it looked like a change for the best, like that there would be more animals, more activity in the area. Nevertheless, they would change their minds not very long after the sound’s arrival.
Napoleon was calmly sleeping when something really loud started. Boom! His house was being lifted off the ground, things were falling apart. Fortunately, he was able to jump off an incredible height and ran to Squealer’s wood house. It would certainly be safe.
He told Squealer what had happened, Squealer on one hand comforted Napoleon, saying he could live in his house for as long as he wanted. Nonetheless, even being well received, Napoleon felt insecure and afraid, but he didn't want to open up to his brother and expose his own insecurities, this would show he thought his house wasn't good enough.
A few days passed and Squealer’s worries became true. Napoleon asked Squealer: “Why did you light up the campfire?” Squealer spent a second thinking and ran immediately to the living room, at least what remained of it. Squealer tried to pick up some of the things that weren’t destroyed yet, but Napoleon forced them to run away before they could grab anything or get burnt. When escaping, Napoleon looked back and saw who was running away with a giant torch, it was a giant two walking legs thing. At that moment, in front of the ashes which used to be his house, he realized who the pig’s and animal's real enemy was.
The only place they could have ran to was Snowball’s house. Now they were safe. Snowball had put a great effort into building his house, and the strange creatures weren't capable of taking it down. But they couldn't be more wrong. They didn’t last a single night until a wrecking ball started breaking the house into little pieces. Not more than a few hits from a machine took away the last place the pigs could hide or run to.
The three brothers attempted to go hide in the woods. However, the strange walking animal was faster and a great predator. How was it possible to be superior when in only two legs? He captured the three pigs and took them to what the animal said to be his farm. There they heard from a veteran and working pig: “Three more of Old Major’s kind for Man to take as slaves”.
For weeks, the pigs worked nonstop: waking up early, working until mid afternoon, eating just enough not to starve, working some more, sleeping, and then repeating the cycle.
While being Mr. Jones slaves, they found themselves in the same place of when they first got in the farm. It was a full moon night, and Old Major was giving a speech which they were really inspired by.
Afterwards, they got together and swore: "We are going to take everything from him. First his farm, then his power! We are going to destroy Man."
And that is the beginning of the story we know as Animal Farm.
I was exploring a junk shop in town the other day and was looking through some old CDs they had for sale and came across some old ones I used to have back in high-school. One in particular, I couldn’t believe they had. The name of the band is Green Jelly and their song “Three Little Pigs,” was a blast from the past. Check it out.
