this seems like a good occassion to remind everybody to donate to the abortion dream team in poland. they’re an activist group that helps conduct about 4 safe abortions an hour for polish residents (which currently also includes 4.2 millions of ukrainian reffugees). poland currently utilizes one the strictest abortion laws in all of europe (with the only stricter laws being those of the vatican city and malta): abortion is prohibited even in cases of severe medical complications and can only be performed if there is an absolute certainty of death of the pregnant person during childbirth or when there is a documented rape ruling (which is effectively impossible to prove in court within a couple of months, as evidenced by the fact that there usually are only 1-3 such cases every year). even though the majority of poland doesn’t agree with the law (some estimates state that among people aged 18-35 about 85% support free will abortion choice), it doesn’t seem like the there will be any lighter law introduced anytime soon (with the leftist party being the only one with a hard pro-choice stance). meanwhile many people are suffering the consequences of the law which causes medical professionals to deny abortion even in cases like that of Izabela from Pszczyn who died in September of 2021 after the doctors made her wait for an abortion until the heart of the dying fetus inside would completely stop beating. she died of sepsis in the hospital, leaving her family and her 9 year old daughter. many more cases like this are happening in poland and any donation can help prevent it by funding access to safe abortions abroad for those who need it.

Traitor!Cor Leonis AU

This one was inspired by @midgarmosquito and their game theory. There is also added picture by @risingoflights that I can literally see when I wrote the last sentence of this.  And I have an excuse to write for Titus as a big brother and father/mentor.

WARNING! In this headcanon is mentioned abuse and beating.

- Cor was angry 15 year boy that despised war and decisions made by King Mors, like pulling the Wall to Insomnia's ramparts (he though that it was a honor to serve king, not anymore)

-  Cor started to be more bitter and cold towards everyone ( which did not escape a certain Drautos, who shared the sympathy)

-Titus took him under his wing, which blossomed into beautiful brotherhood (both of them cherish it dearly)

- It was slow and budding relationship from rivals to friends to brothers till death (Titus calls him affectionately “Little brother or tiny daemon”, Cor calls him “ Old bear or grumpy cat”, sometimes calls him “Big brother” when he´s feeling emotionally down)

- But the greatest confirmation of their brotherhood was when Cor came to Titus all bloodied and battered. Titus helped him bandage his injuries, gave him food meanwhile containging the rage inside. “Who did this to you, little daemon?” And afterwhile with choked voice came the answer. “It was my step dad. He tried to beat mum again, so ...” Titus didn´t need to hear anything else. He let Cor crash at his apartment, while he plotted. 

- Next day, Cor recieved a news that his stepfather was arrested, for what he didn´t know. He went to Titus, because he knew the older male had something to do with it. When sleepy Titus opened the door, Cor with no hesitation huggs him. “Thank you big bro, thank you so much.”  Titus never felt more alive than at this moment.

- Few years later, Cor is dissatisfied with Regis who acts as a puppet of the nobility. Especially with decisions of the reffugees, who are threated poorly and used as pawns for a war

- Titus introduced Cor to Nyx Ulric, his troublemaker protegee. Cor in private jokes with Titus that Nyx is more like his son. “Shut up, that´s not it!” “Yeah, yeah whatever you said Titus.”

- Titus takes Cor to Cavaugh more specificaly to his village. “This is where it all started for me. My quest for revenge.” Tells him about his family and friends who have died. How from loyal soldier to Crown he became the feared general Glauca of Niflheim.

- There Cor truly meets the real Titus, broken man with nothing  else to lose. And Cor doesn´t even hesitate when Titus asked him to join in their rebellion. “ You have my sword ,Titus. Whatever it takes, I am on your side.” 

- Cor met all the glaives that joined, promising them a better future. Is took by surprise by Luche Lazarus, who thanked him for everything he has done for them 

- Cor also received information about sleeping agent placed in Prince´s retinue, Titus didn´t specified it just said “ It´s insurance if anything goes wrong.”

- when the Day of Signing came, Cor did as Regis told him with exception that he joined Glauca in the fight.

Nyx´s eyes reflected pain and utter disbelief. “ Captain, Marshall ... It was you two all along.” 

- “ Forgive me, old friend.” Cor´s the one who deals the final blow to Regis. 

-  Meanwhile Titus went to fight Nyx alone while Cor was coordinating their forces (what's left of them, anyway)

- Whole fight sequence later  Cor at last came to the side of the battle, tired disolving Nyx sitting on other side of gravely injured Titus. 

- ” Titus, Titus goddamn it! Here, take the potion!” Titus stops him, his eyelids starting to feel heavy. “It´s okay little brother, you can´t help me ... “  Cor eyes started to water. “No, don´t do this to me Titus. You´re my fucking brother, the last good thing I have left.” Cor catch him by his collar. “As you were my, Cor.”

I have seen posts regarding recent actions of Amnesty International. For those who do not know, the group published widely inaccurrate report acussing Ukraine of war crimes and downplaying those done by Russians. Russian propaganda machine immediatelly gobbled it up and started a media campaign to convince the West this somehow proves Ukraine is run by Nazis and should be pressured into just giving up and allowing Russia to conquer it. There been also cases of Amnesty members blatantly citing informations from Russian tink-tanks.

However, there is a thing I have seen spread among the backlash that Amnesty received. Amnesty is organizing protests in my country, Poland, against Polish government locking our borders with Belarus for refugees. I have seen same people criticising Amnesty claiming that this further proves the group’s pro-Russian stance. These claims are framing the protests as supporting “Lukashenko’s attack on Polish borders”. THIS IS POLISH GOVERNMENT’S PROPAGANDA!

The people stuck on Polish-Belarussian border are reffugees from Middle East. For MONTHS, long before Putin invaded Ukraine, Polish government has denied them entrance to our country and tried to convince everyone they’re terrorists or agenjts of Lukashenko. Men, women and children starving and freezing in winter, with any humanitarian help to them punishable by the military, which itself has been behaving in the most abhorrent way.

This may surprise those of you who heard of Poland welcoming with open arms Ukrainian refugees (thought Polish ruling party, PiS, managed to botch that one up to the point of intentional sadism at some points). Here is the difference: people on Belarussian border are Muslims. Yes, PiS is okay with letting women, children and elderly DIE (and we DID have people die on that fucking border) just for not worshipping Jesus.

And let’s be honest here, I have psoted how many of Polish right-wingers stopped supporting refugees from Ukraine the moment they realized these refugees aren’t dirt-poor hardcore conservatives, that they won’t will gladly “pay back” for Polish hospitality by becoming free labor and won’t be an influx of submissive, young tradwives that “true sons of Poland” could marry and thus “destroy feminism”. Which yes, those were all fantasies of many ractionary elements in Poland. The moment they turned untrue public opinion begun to demonize Ukrainian refugees.

What Russia does is abhorrent. What Amnesty has done with their report is height of irresponsibility. Polish government is run by facists that want to turn it into catholic theocracy and for all its anti-Russian posturing clearly look up to Russia as a role model. These are all facts that are true and can coexist, get it into your empty fucking heads!

ok but if we take a second to be serious. THE most compelling evidence. the only thing that genuinely feels unexplainable even if we make the furthest of reaches. is the becky episode and the funko pops and the becky’s reaction to chuck’s ending and how she says that there is not enough cas and the villains aren’t scary enough for the stakes of the story to be taken seriously and there is not enough classic rock and the villain monologue is unoriginal. THAT is what will haunt me for the rest of my life

thoughts on the vikings, the modern saami, and middle eastern reffugees? (this is three different questions)

What, just in general?

The Vikings is a general term for a loosely affiliated mediaeval groups of people from Scandinavia. They were just that, a varied group of people from about a thousand years ago, who in general were skillful sailors and who used this both to trade far and wide and to plunder, with all the unpleasantness that implies. Therefore they were neither what some progressives would like them to have been (women's-rights upholding gay sailors with fashionable clothing) nor what the far-Right would have liked them to have been (brutal lily-white warriors who held to truck with foreigners and slaughtered everyone and everything they met). In general, honour societies like theirs tend to seem like quite unpleasant places to live in, however, at least to my mind.

The modern Sámi are the indigenous people of Sápmi, large parts of northern Scandinavia, including about a third of of Sweden and Norway each. Sápmi is colonised by Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia, and though this has been the case for a long time - some five hundred years - state capacity to actually fully dominate the semi-autonomous Sámi nomads was very limited until the rise of the modern state in Scandinavia some 200 years ago. Since then, their language(s) and culture have been under sustained assault, and their lands have been systematically taken away from them, usually by the state, sometimes by individual settler-farmers. Today, the Sámi language(s) are at risk of dying out, and climate change and land exploitation threatens the future of all traditional Sámi lifeways (whether hunting, herding, or fishing). Therefore, we're currently seeing a new explosion of land struggle in Sápmi, which everyone -espescially Scandinavians, since the colonialism is happening in our name-ought to support.

To start, freedom of movement is a core freedom that ought to apply to everyone, and as such the freedom to live where the u want, when you want to, is one that I uphold on a principled level. Additionally, Middle Eastern refugees are refugees from the lingering, awful impact of western imperialism, including in a lot of recent cases things that Sweden played an active part in (say the terror bombing of Libya, or the occupation of Afghanistan) or profited from through our large arms industry (say, for example, Yemen). The very fucking least that Sweden can do then is to take in everyone who applies, and ideally we would use some of the profits we made out of that to help refugees get to Sweden safely, instead of as we do now, spending money for Frontex to deport people drowning in the Mediterranean.

Also, on a much less important personal note, as I have said before, I think that Sweden and Swedish culture - indeed my life - is much the richer for the presence of people from the middle east. Poetry, music, art, social movements (what would the autonomous left do without the Kurds?) have all seen huge enrichment through their presence. Again, not that that matters at all for the first two points - those would still be just as true if the Sweden Democrats were right about the negative impact of refugees on these issues, and I would not change my stance. But since you asked my opinion.
