Long ass stream of consciousness post about my opinions on every fight in Record of Ragnarok so far:
Spoilers for Record of Ragnarok up to Round 9:
Round 1: Thor vs Lu Bu
Pretty decent fight overall, I genuinely couldn't guess who was going to win at first and though Lu Bu's death felt a bit anticlimatic at the end, with him getting his head smashed in by a hammer after all the build-up he had about being the strongest and most badass human and all that. But overall a good fight, I liked Thor and Lu Bu about equally so I was sad but not too sad after it was all said and done.
Round 2: Adam vs. Zeus
I was really hoping for Adam to win, naturally, but I had a feeling Zeus was going to take it because there's no way they would kill off the main villain that quick (and honestly, I don't think anyone else is gonna replace Zeus as the main villain, so to speak, even if there are other gods doing random evil scheming and shit in the background.) The fighting itself was good, though, it was the most straightforward slugfest of them all, no fluff, no frills, just two dudes beating the hell out of each other until one of them ran out of gas in the tank.
Round 3: Kojiro vs. Poseidon
Hoo boy, this was my favorite fight so far, and not only because it was one of the only two fights where the guy I wanted to win most won. I like how much of an asshole Poseidon was right off the bat and how Kojiro didn't let Poseidon get to him at all, despite Poseidon being portrayed as one of the more frightening gods, Kojiro didn't back down and give up, he kept on pushing through and in the end he took it. The moment Kojiro sliced and diced Poseidon like sushi, I literally leapt off my couch and accidentally threw my phone on the ground I was so hype (I watched the anime before reading the manga.)
Round 4: Heracles vs. Jack
I had mixed feelings about this one, because obviously I lean more towards wanting humanity to win but also, I never really liked Jack, and I still don't care for him. He's just there to me, and he does nothing for me. I disliked him a lot in the beginning but now he's just, idk, whatever. I liked Heracles and wanted to see more of him but I had a feeling he was probably going to die because he was portrayed as being much nicer than his opponent while Jack was portrayed as a cunning, crafty trickster, and in most fighting anime/manga series, the fighter who relies more on cunning or sneaky tricks almost always beats the guy who relies more on strength or raw power.
Round 5: Raiden vs. Shiva
I wanted Raiden to take it so bad, Raiden cracked me up from the moment I first saw him lying naked on a bed with a bunch of random women of all sorts of random species, snoring his ass off like it was just a regular fucking Tuesday (no pun intended,) and his introduction scene made me start howling with laughter at his absolute unfiltered horny crackhead energy, plus I love how he was genuinely fond of Thrud from the moment he laid eyes on her and it tugged at my heart strings when he wanted to break their bond at the end so she could live but she chose to die with him anyways because she didn't want to leave him. But of course, given who and what Shiva is, obviously the outcome was as predictable as could be, as there's no fucking way they'd ever kill off Shiva in a fictional series, otherwise you'd have like 2 billion people out for blood and it's pretty damn obvious why.
Round 6: Buddha vs. Zero
Plot wise and thematically, I enjoyed this fight a lot, but it was pretty predictable, because as I mentioned for Round 5, there's a very obvious reason why they would never let Buddha lose, plus Buddha's the one who invented the volund strategy that even allows humans to be able to fight against gods in the first place. That said, I like Buddha as a character even if he's not much like the actual real Buddha, and I'm glad he won. However, Zero having to die really broke my heart, Zero was such a kind, sweet, innocent little guy and I cried a little harder than I'd like to admit when he died. Of course, it also doesn't help that Zero may not have even been a willing participant in the fight in the first place, given his various issues that he'd been dealing with plus the fact that given how he seems much younger than the other gods, it's possible that he might not have even been an adult by their standards and the idea of a child (possibly a young teenager,) fighting in a fight-to-the-death tournament is one that just doesn't sit right with me. That said, I have many opinions about Buddha and Zero, way more than I could fit into a single post, and I'm glad we got to see both of them for the time that we did, and even though I'll always be bummed that we'll never get to see Zero again, I'm glad he was there and I'm glad that in the end even though he died, he was able to return back to his un-corrupted self after his fight with Buddha.
Round 7: Hades vs. Qin
I honestly didn't have much opinions about this fight. For whatever reason, I could never make myself care much about either Hades and Qin as characters and while I appreciate that Hades cared about his brothers, I also don't care for the Greek gods much as a whole, and the rest of them besides Hades annoy me to some degree (especially Poseidon and to a lesser degree Apollo,) and Qin just has way too much going on to the point where he feels more like a collection of as many tropes as someone could fit into a single character packed together in a trenchcoat like a bunch of little kids standing on each other's backs and wearing a big coat to try to disguise themselves as an adult. I had a feeling Qin was probably going to win, but I couldn't really be bothered to care either way, although I did find it odd that Hades would lose to a human-if you had me guess which gods would beat a human no questions asked before I actually started the series, I would have definitely included Hades on that list because I mean, he's the god of death and the underworld, those titles carry a lot of weight.
Round 8: Tesla vs. Beelzebub. I had/have some problems with some of the previous rounds but hoo boy, Round 8 was a disaster. Tesla was given absolutely no prep time to even figure out what to do (and though you could argue the same for other fighters, it's only really relevant for Tesla because he's the only human fighter who was a non-combatant besides Jack, and Jack was already established as a sneaky son of a bitch who will find a way to trick anyone, so he didn't need any prep time.) Including Tesla on the roster was a very odd choice to begin with, and though I like Tesla as a character, I have very mixed feelings about how they handled him fighting. Also, Beelzebub-don't get me started on him. I haven't hated a character this much since Sasuke from Naruto, and to be honest, of the two of them, I think I hate Beelzebub more. Even just having Beelzebub be in the story at all pisses me off, and seeing him kill Tesla after what he did to Zero was one of the few moments in this series that just genuinely pissed me off.
Round 9: Somehow worse than Round 8, which I didn't think was possible. Leonidas hardly got any focus, his backstory was basically just an abbreviated re-telling of the movie 300 and he only got 3 hits on Apollo (granted, those 3 hits were apparently enough to bring Apollo to death's door, but still,) Leonidas had so much wasted potential it pissed me off. Apollo annoys me for various personal reasons and his sudden reveal that "Oh, he's actually not an arrogant preening prick with his head shoved up his ass," halfway through the fight felt so forced it was like a random ass-pull that just came out of nowhere. Leonidas basically didn't get to do much of anything besides be a disposable punching bag for Apollo for 5 fucking chapters and then Apollo's like "Oh, you (and Geirolul) were the peak of beauty." and somehow we're supposed to believe they just suddenly started liking each other out of nowhere. The whole fight felt sloppy and incomplete, like the authors just ran out of fucks to give and wanted to rush it and get through it as fast as possible to move onto Round 10, which I won't get into now for many, many, reasons that would take way, way too long to explain on this post.

I had fucking weird dream. Where Record of Ragnarok, plot's the same, except they're BOXING.
IMMA CALL IT
Ring of Ragnarok
*cough cough* that one Qin and Hades official art as boxers *cough*
Everything went exactly the same. Thor defeated Lu Bu, Zeus defeated Adam, etc. But for some reason the losers just sits in the "Losers Bench" after their match. And instead of Volunds, the Valkyries just pretty much transformed into those boxing gloves.
Heimdall is the commentator (of course) but there's fucking ME as his assistant 💀💀
Heimdall: Both Gods and Humans are hyping up for the 7th round!!! I wonder who'll be our next fighters! Right, Damia? (Damia is me)
Me: ......Ah..
Back to the main story, it was Qin vs Hades round. BRO THEY'RE FLEXING THEIR FUCKING DIVINE BODIES I WAS HOWLING INTERNALLY AND ACCIDENTALLY SAID "AWWOOOGAA" OUT LOUD HEIMDALL GLARED AT ME MENTALLY SAYING BICH STFU. So they were fighting, Qin got lots of bruises, Hades got a bloody nose.
Ares and Zeus are Hades's hypemen.
Poseidon was using Sasaki as a stool 💀💀
Lu bu and Thor were watching the match in silence
Adam and Zerofuku was sent to the infirmary after got jumped...
Heracles and Jack were together drinking tea while watching (Jack was sitting on Heracles's shoulder lmao) .
Buddha was sleeping in the back (behind Jack and Heracles), sucking on lollipop.
(There are some characters that didn't show up in the dream, so I'm so sorry for that..)
In the end, Hades won instead of Qin. Qin was long passed out. Everyone cheers for Hades but Buddha wasn't satisfied. He fucking spit his lollipop stick, towards the back of Jack's head but HE FUCKING DODGE IT and it was flying towards Hades and HADES DODGE IT TOO so it hits ME INSTEAD.
Heimdall: OH SHIT DAMIA!!!!!
Zeus: Bro what's that for
Buddha: Shit my bad
Damia: 💀💀 💀💀 💀💀
So uhh..yeah I woke up the next second Hades carries me to the infirmary (HE SMELLS NICE I CAN CONFIRM :DD)

My first and throughout the story impression with Record of Ragnarok's character.
Shiva: he's giving me a playboy vibe, at first I thought that he might have a lot of girlfriend, and I ALMOST guess it right.
Aphrodite: My gosh, she's damn hot and so pretty.
Brunhilde: badass, I absolutely like her immediately at first chapter.
Goll: at first she's kinda annoying to me, but I'm used to it and come to like her as I'm slowly symphatize for her just because her relationship with other valkyries and Heracles.
Adam: he's so cute, I thought that his backstory will accurately follow the Bible, but I guess it's not 100 percent accurate. manga Adam and Eve is a best couple. 😏✋
Poseidon: *in love in first sight, blushing so hard, have a nosebleed, and die of nosebleed* repeat the cycle everytime I see him.
Lu bu: Scary but badass person, I don't really have any word for him, but he's an underrated character and I like him so much especially his comrade.
Heracles: what a kind-heart person, I love him imediately too and out of all the characters in ror, he's probably someone that I can get along very well. (I want to be his friend)
Thor: Erza Scarlet but buffer and more badass, at first I see him as a scary person; but during tournament, it's actually hard for me to choose which one that I should root for. Then I simp for him as time pass by.
Zeus: "Netero, is that you?" His younger self is also hot too.
Jack the ripper: I already have a feeling that he'll be my favorite character, my first impression toward him is...  nothing at all, but soon enough I enjoy his figure and in the end I like him, I even cry at the end of tournament. yea yea, I’m a crybaby okay
Raiden: he's fun character and didn't really expect him to be giving more playboy vibe than Shiva. I also have a hard time choosing which one should I root for, it also sadden me when I look at his parent’s reaction at the very last tournament.
Sasaki Kojiro: he has become my favorite character in a few minute; after Adam vs Zeus fight, I feel quite down at the first beginning of Poseidon vs Kojiro. But at the half of tournament, I have a hope once again for Kojiro to survive.
Buddha: I like his design and he is so chill, he is one of the character who I probably can have a chill with. And throughout the battle, it make me love him more.
Zerofuku: his past-self is a definition of cinnamon bun, Until now, I am still irritate with how ungrateful the human is. and funny enough, his present-self sure still remind me of cinnamon bun, but it gives dark aura and hotter.
Hermes: I almost mistaken him for Sebastian from Black Butler, but he sure is giving me a Black Butler vibe. He’s a fine character and also a chill guy.
Ares: I don’t know why, but his design is pretty funny to me, I don’t even know why he drink in a small cup which I also find it funny too, for now I guess he’s pretty much just watching the tournament so I don’t know what to say for him.

So I rewatched the anime of Record of Ragnarok. And I have an honest opinion. Having seen the criticism, having watched it myself.
Here is how I saw the fights themselves. (Just purely the fights. not everything else)
The first fight, Lu Bu vs Thor is the worst. The animation and CGI are not good.
Not gonna defend it. Lu Bu's backstory was the only thing interesting about it.
Thor's backstory was the worst part of it, and I feel bad. This WHOLE FIGHT deserves a redo.
The second fight. The Adam vs Zeus fight,
that one wasn't that bad until the end when they basically made it a slide show. That was dumb and I liked everything else. (the scenes with Adam character moments were amazing)
I want them to redo this fight's ending. But outside of that, it gets a lot of flack it doesn't deserve.
Sojiro vs Poseidon.
The fight looked much better and was closer to the caliber of what we wanted. This is the fight that gives me hope that season 2 will be better. The build up, the techniques, the back and forth. It was the closest in capturing the draw of the manga.
Overall, I think the show is improving and I do wish they put more into the animation. (maybe get a new studio cough cough)
Because the next fight is Jack the Ripper vs Heracles and THAT is an amazing fight that CANT be slacked on.

I read Record of Ragnarok!
Adam is probably my favorit character, beside Jack and Herakles! Speaking of Jack, he made me addicted to the nursery rhyme London Bridge is falling down qwq
~Minx
MINXXXX!!!! YOU'RE THE FUCKING MVP!!! ALRIGHT, I'M JUST GONNA GUSH REAL QUICK OKAY?? NO ONE I KNOW HAS READ IT SO I'M IN FULL FERAL GRIP. Brunhilde and I are one and the same right now.
Please...read this manga...it's really good. I'm going to be dead this week because sorry, I'm busy consuming content.
Okay. Okay. I remember seeing the Adam vs Zeus fight on youtube (the manga, way before the anime came out) and I saved it to my watch later because it looked cool. But then I never got around to watching it and I'm so fucking upset I didn't because wow, did I miss out on something great. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a masterpiece but I have never felt actual hype and excitement go through my system from reading a manga before. Because at the end of the day, it's still pictures right? What's there to be excited for? Nah, this manga came in and bitch slapped me across the face for thinking that because I can literally feel myself getting pumped for each fight. I'm actually a fan of the tournament arc style even though I know people think of it as filler. I'm pretty simple so while deep emotional storylines are cool and all, I just want to see people fight okay?? And I think this is THE BEST example of how to write a fight.
I will say tho. Almost every fight I wanted the other person to win even though, in my heart, I knew it would be the opposite. In the first fight with Lu bu and Thor, I didn't really care too much about who won since it was my first time reading. Plus, I kinda knew the Gods had to take the first round since you know. Plot and stuff. BUT WOW I WANTED ADAM TO WIN SO FUCKING BADLY. WHAT A GOOD DAD- I WOULD DIE FOR HIM. But I knew in my god damn heart that he wasn't going to because he was versing Zeus. He went out swinging and I salute him. I know the manga isn't complete yet but I have a feeling that the Gods might win but realize that while humanity has its fault, it did create some amazing people and humanity survives another 1000 years. Just to have another Ragnarok by the end of it. Or at least, that's what I'm hoping for lol. Maybe humanity get's wiped the fuck out or we actually win. I'm super excited either way.
Also speaking of brunhilde. I LOVE HER. She reminds me of Tanya but I love hearing her cuss out and god, her attitude and personality. I love her okay? I love all the crazy expressions that are drawn and holy shit the art style???? I love how the author draws eyes (adam...so pretty). I'm gonna find out where I can buy volumes to support the author and I almost never do that. That's how much I love this series.
But yeah getting back on track. I was confused as to why people were raving about Poseidon because I heard he was a fucking piece of shit (and he is) but I've been infected with the curse because he is so pretty. Be still my beating heart and I lowkey wanted him to win even tho Kojiro is such a g and I was cheering for him in my heart. I think I'm seeing a trend of really liking blond, emotionless, I'm good at everything men. Cough Albedo cough.
I've heard such good things about Jack vs Hercules but I haven't gotten to there yet but I have some idea of what might happen. Plus I found it weird that Hercules was going to be fighting since wasn't he like...sorta human but did his 12 labours to ascend? I don't know, I'm just ready for an emotional time and for Hercules to be the biggest sweetheart ever.

Currently watching Record of Ragnarok. I'll give my review later
Edit
Close up art: top notch
Colors: top notch
Movement: 50% good (some movement are REALLY good, some movement are REALLY bad. No good animation for complex moves.)
Music: 50% good
Thor vs Lu Bu: 8/10
Adam vs Zeus: 5/10 (the power point at THAT stage ruined it. The final stage of the fight supposed to make you at the edge of your seat. This one never done it, and the music choice was HORRIBLE too, imo.)
Sasaki vs Poseidon: 4/10
Overall: it's 50% enjoyable

Gods and Humans Do Battle in Newly Announced Record of Ragnarok TV Anime in 2021
Warner Bros. Japan announced today that the Record of Ragnarok manga series, written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and illustrated by Ajichika, will be adapted into a TV anime series in 2021. The main cast and staff were revealed alongside the opening theme song artists, as well as releasing the first teaser trailer, first visual, and character art.
youtube
      The lead cast includes:
  Miyuki Sawashiro voicing Brunhild
The eldest of the 13 Valkyrie Sisters.
Being a demi-God, she has a strong bond with humanity and therefore tries to prolong the ultimate end of humanity by setting up Gods vs Mankindʼs one-on-one battle also known as the “Ragnarok”.
She is bold and even speaks up to God but also has a bad-mouth.
  Tomoyo Kurosawa voicing Geir
The youngest of the 13 Valkyrie Sisters.
Although she has great affection for Brunhild, she is concerned and worried about her intentions.
  Tomokazu Seki voicing Lu Bu
The first champion from the human side.
He is the strongest warrior from China whom Brunhild recognizes as the most brutal and fierce fighter of all times.
  Hikaru Midorikawa voicing Thor
The first champion from Godʼs side.
He is the strongest Nordic War God and also known as the “Berserker of Thunder”. He uses a Godly weapon bigger than his own size called “Mjolnir”.
  Wataru Takagi voicing Zeus
The second champion from Godʼs side and one pillar of Greek 12 Gods.
The main God of Greek mythology who is omniscient and omnipotent.
Being king of all Gods, he also a chairman of Valhalla Council. He loves fighting above all.
Directing the series is Masao Okubo, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu as the screenwriter, Masaki Saito designing the characters, and music from Masaharu Takanashi. Record of Ragnarok will be animated at Graphinica. The opening theme song "KAMIGAMI" will be sung by the legends themselves, MAXIMUM THE HORMONE! Warner Bros. Japan describes the series as such:
7 million Years of Human Civilization is coming to an end...
Every 1000 years, all the Gods of the world gather in heaven to attend the “Conference of Mankind Survival”.
All the Gods agree to bring an ultimate end to the mankind due to their past foolish acts but before the final verdict is made, Brunhild, the eldest of the 13 Valkyrie sisters make and objection.
“To spice things up, why donʼt you test humans?”
Her proposal was to have God vs Humanityʼs final struggle also known as the “Ragnarok”, where all the Gods from the world and champions from the entire human history enters 1 on 1 battle.
The first team to win 7 battles out of 13 will be the winner.
  It seems almost impossible for the humans to win against the Gods. Although Gods sneer at them, Brunhild makes further provocation;
  “Are you chickening out?”
That touches Godsʼ nerves and they accept her proposal in anger.
Therefore, Brunhild and her sisters must choose 13 of the strongest champions throughout the human history.
Will humans surpass Gods and make an stop to the ultimate end? The eschatological battles between heaven and earth finally begin!
The battle starts in the Record of Ragnarok TV anime sometime in 2021!
