I rebound This Is How You Lose the Time War because I wanted MORE COLORS.
(And also maybe the idea of using that tweet by Bigolas Dickolas as a blurb tickled me greatly. Because that whole situation was a highlight of my month.)
❤️ Did the cover with the same birds but added plot relevant double exposure effect I’ve loved since my True Detective days.
💜 Used purple fabric for the spine, painted the edges in a fun gradient, sewn the endbands;
💙 and used lovely fluid art by Marek Okon for endpapers.
Now no one in my household stands a chance of avoiding exposure to this gorgeous story ❤️💜💙
Hardcover rebind of Holes by Louis Sachar! My paperback cover was starting to flake away, so I did my best to rescue it. The bookcloth is Eister Duo, and all of the decals are HTV. I only had enough confidence to put a single actual hole into the cover (right through the O!) although I briefly considered riddling the whole cover case with them - the idea was dismissed because of Structural Concerns. Maybe next time.
A brief attempt at speckling the edges was made (yellow, for yellow spotted lizards). It doesn't look very good - I blame my no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather for this, and all other imperfections.
In addition to making whatever suits my fancy and selling it in my Etsy shop, I also offer custom-made books! I charge for cost of materials plus $10 an hour for labor. See below for materials costs and what I offer for options! Please feel free to send me an email if you have any questions.

The sun is out, quickly gotta grab a blanket and do a photoshoot of my latest rebind.
Villains Are Destined to Die Manwha rebind, volume 1 - 3!
I decided to keep the original logo design because I like it a lot. The backside features the Eckhart family crest, which I found on an official merch product in Korea. The quality was bad though so I had to redraw it.
I did not want to design 3 different covers for each volume (especially since the series is still on going and more will be released), so I simply changed the volume number
My copies of the Captive Prince trilogy were getting quite ratty, and I've never been a huge fan of the covers. They're without a doubt the perfect target for a rebind!
I also wanted to use this opportunity to practice using faux suede (spoiler: it's easier than I thought it would be) and heat transfer foil (second spoiler: also easier than I thought it would be). I'm mostly happy with the overall results!
Materials used:
Cloth is faux suede in ruby from Hollander’s
Paper on cover is Thistle by William Morris in claret & gold
Endpapers are Snakeshead by William Morris in madder & gold
Endbands, ribbon and metal corners from Traditional Bookbinding
Title done in Cricut heat transfer foil in rose gold
Using wallpaper samples in bookbinding is inspired, honestly!
I’ll be doing the same design and materials for books 2 and 3, but in blue and green respectively.
The font I’ve chosen was a bit too thin in some places, but I sort of like the gaps it creates, so I’m not mad! I am, however, a little miffed that I didn’t centre it very well on the spine. I’m also not super happy with how the pre-made endbands sit. But really, I’m trying not to be so critical of my creations, so! I’m generally happy with how it has come out, and I’m super pleased with the colour scheme and the look of the suede. The foil goes especially well with it, so I’m keen to do that combo again.
i'm still practicing my case binding and struggling but im genuinely pleased with this series of paperback rebinds. collected from a couple of library sales over the past many years (i still have my original hardcovers, too), i've taken a near-complete set of mercedes lackey's valdemar series and begun rebinding them as hardcover for a binderary project.
this is a basic flatback style. i stripped the paper covers, added mull and endbands to the spines, tipped on endpapers, and created cases for each book. the series is divided up into (mostly) trilogies so i set on a spine color for each trilogy. i chose a single font for the decorations and i scanned the paper covers to preserve the classic 90s jodi lee artwork. the artwork was printed on iridescent sticker paper and attached to the covers a paper well technique from DAS bookbinding. on the back of each book is a small sigil i designed for the main character(s) of each series.
i'm about halfway through. wish me luck!!
**i say 'books that blooded me' in the spirit of a devoted fated mates podcast listener. a lot of mercedes lackey has not aged well--the larry dixon of it all is A Problem--but these books installed a lot of buttons in me and i still love them. there is a simplicity and sense of joy i get from reading them--still.

My latest bind of A Lamb Amongst Wolves by Pippawrites!
I had so many ideas for this cover and not a single one was excecuted well 😅 Not gonna mention how many tries it took (and htv and bookcloth I wasted) to get a cover that i still messed up on lol
Thankfully this one ended up coming out pretty well (mistakes and all)
I've been learning bookbinding recently, and this is my first attempt at rebinding a book! It's far from perfect (read: very wonky in a myriad of ways) but I'm still proud and am excited to do more rebinds in the future!
