I don’t think we talk enough about the fact that Charles buried all his friends. He might not have known them for a long time but he still had some affection towards them, even if he hadn’t, imagine how traumatising that is.

Imagine seeing young Sean with a whole life ahead of him, his head shot open, blood running out, visibly being able to see the inside of his skull. Loud mouthed Sean who could be annoying but who was a joy at parties and lid them up, dead.

Kieran, his body mutilated and holding the signs of torture he experienced before death. Kieran who had escaped the O'Driscolls and whom Charles was slowly starting to warm up to, the man who really just wanted to be with his horse.

Hosea shot through the chest whom he knew was a father figure to many. Hosea who was a stablizer in camp, the one teaching Jack to read, the one helping Dutch plan, but still had enough silliness in his old bones to create Felton.

Lenny, young Lenny, who was just trying to survive, Lenny who finally felt like he had found a home but was shot on the top of the roofs and whom they had to leave.

Molly O'Shea who really only wanted love, who wanted affection from a man who had none left to give, shot mercilessly through the chest. Charles would be smart enough to know that there was truly no reason he was torching her body and not laying it in the ground.

Miss Grimsaw, who although a bit aggressive, truly only wanted what was best for the group and who always made sure that they took care of themselves.

Eagle Flies who fought so hard for what he believed in, for a world where his people could live, but who ended up victim to Dutch's manipulation just like Charles had.

And Arthur, Arthur Morgan who was the only person that had helped Charles actually try to save the natives. Arthur Morgan who had gone out of his way, who had disobeyed Dutch Van Der Linde, a criminal so filthy he is in songs and novels, to help Charles Smith, a man who was looked down upon for the mere color of his skin, help his people.

I want you to bury you friendgroup, your support system, one by one and act like it doesn’t affect you.

he looks so out of place at a party.

he normally doesn’t go because he prefers quiet nights in catching up on uni work or drawing little things but you convinced him to come along for what was meant to be a quiet drink

well, now he was stood whilst you were in the bathroom cradling your glass to his chest as if it were a baby.

he’s pretty sure john and sean are here too, so he’s like pressed up against the wall whilst people dance

he’ll be so awkward esp if people try to talk to him

“oh, ‘m just holding my girlfriend’s drink for a while.”

don’t get me wrong, he may feel out of place but your drink is safe and sound with him

he’s very tall compared to others despite how much he tries to blend in so he won’t be bothered by anyone, but he ends up just looking quite intimidating instead of anxious so no one would approach him anyway

howeverrr, he’s a bit of a himbo and forgets it’s YOUR drink so he ends up taking a quick sip

you thrust your drink into his hand and say that you’re going to the toilet

your poor boyfriend doesn’t even get a say so now he’s holding both your drink and his 😭

does that awkward smile at the group your with but glares hard at anyone he doesn’t know

will put your drink down at the table if he’s sat down, he’ll keep a very close eye on it + will have his hand right next to it

this also runs the risk of him knocking your drink over (he did it once and immediately bought you a new one so you wouldn’t know)

if someone wants him for something like a chat, he’ll give it to someone else like charles or karen

but then forgets about your drink so you have to search the entire place for your friends to get it back 😭

he’s trying his best and most of the time you get your drink back so points for trying

the first time you ever tried to get sean to hold your drink, he grabs it from you and downs it bc he thought you had enough of it 😭 (gets arthur to buy you another bc he’s low-key poor)

however. when you give him your drink now, he nods as you leave and stares at it wondering if you’d let him have a tiny bit

the only way your drink won’t be drank by sean is if it’s something fruity/something he just doesn’t like

but- even if it is something he likes, he’s a gentleman and will do his best to protect it

buttttttt he’s clumsy when he’s drunk (he most likely is) and he tends to drop glasses a lot so your drink isn’t entirely safe from HIM

a stranger got a bit too close to him once when he was holding your drink and sean starting full on barking- like the bar went quiet and you came out of the bathroom to your boyfriend barking at a confused man

he holds your drink like it’s his own so it doesn’t look too out of place. people know sean likes to get wasted so they probably won’t mess with it

however, if he turns away when having a conversation from your drink someone could easily slip something into it

he kinda knows this so he steals a small sip just before you get back then gives you an innocent smile and hands you your drink back

he’s baby but he’s clumsy

charles

most likely the driver of the group so he’s drinking waters all through out the night

you could convince him to have like,, one shot maybe but he’s back to drinking water after that

as soon as you walk up to him with a sweet smile and your drink outwards a little he knows what to do

takes the glass and nods as you leave to go to the bathroom

secure grip, hand over the top and everything 10/10 your drink is safe

will glare at people who stare at your drink

isn’t tempted to drink it but is curious of what it is especially if it’s a mix

will 100% ask you when you get back

ngl if the girls are out with you guys he’s literally gonna have a hoard of drinks to protect bc everyone trusts charles

poor guy has to babysit about 4-5 glasses at once sometimes 😭

but he gets the job done and all your drinks are returned safely

kieran

kieran is another baby who doesn’t really like parties

is very anxious when you hand him your drink and ask him to look after it bc he’s not that strong and someone could definitely overpower him for ur drink

sits in the corner all puppy eyes so people won’t bother him, hand over your drink as he watches everyone

bc he looks so sad someone came up to him and he burst into tears, he fully turned away whilst shielding your drink to his chest

he’s an emotional drunk you can’t change my mind

however, if he’s more sober he won’t cry but he will look a little vulnerable (sometimes he looks lost) bc he thinks everyone will think “oh that guys just a little guy, a little meow meow. we won’t bother him”

will sniff your drink a little to try and figure out what it is

gentleman 100

holds your drink over the top casually as he talks to friends

gestures a little with it sometimes but he never spills it bc he’s very conscious that he’s holding your drink

if someone approaches him like “yo the drink you’re holding-“ he will cut them off and be like “it’s my gf’s.” :)

will sneak a small sip bc he likes your taste in alcohol

however if he’s got his own drink in his hand too he’ll get a little confused and drink some of yours by mistake 😭

one time he gave you his drink on accident and you both looked confused when you drank a little bc it tasted different. you both laughed it off and finished the drinks anyway

so 9/10 you get your drink back but sometimes you get his 😭😭

On one hand he is paranoid and bounty for his head is always on Dutch's mind so it would be normal that he's on high alert even in the camp

On the other hand he's usually reading a book and his thoughts are drifting in the fantasy/idealized worlds from the novels

When you came from behind with a gentle kiss on his cheek he immediately wanted to drew a gun

Luckily he quickly realized it was you *sigh of relief*

"Oh dear-- If you want a kiss just ask, I could have shoot you!"

But he isn't angry, just stressed and tired

After a while he pulls you closer to him into a tight hug and kisses your forehead

Don't feel bad! He knows that you didn't mean no harm and finds it kinda sweet

His little lover wants his attention which means you love him and think about old Van der Linde in your free time

Dutch is sure happy to have you and he's all for your kisses, but would appreciate if you changed the form of affection

You can always surprise him in other ways! Sneaking from behind leave for more peacful times

Sean adores everything you do and especially when it involves him so please do it more

Smile crawled on his pale, but slighly red face as he gently returned a kiss

This sight broke your heart, so you embraced him, pressing your lover tightly to yourself

He hugged you back of course, it makes him feel loved and he doesn't want to let you go (your body feels so safe to him)

Kieran is really REALLY happy to have you a walking sunshine in this waking nightmare

I can asure you that this boy loves you very much and deeply

He's so happy when you two are close and you're showing him affection, but maybe try not to scare him next time

Try anything but that, you can even surprise him with a nice flower and he would be grateful!

In fact, Micah wants you to surprsing him like that more often, but for his own peace of mind he acts like nothing in this world can surprise him

He is an attention seeker and a touch starved bastard after all, he needs to know that you still love him as he loves you

Illustrated scenario of young Sean MacGuire and his Da on the ship to Boston. This started off as a simple drawing prompt and it turned into a whole piece that I made way too complicated for my own good. I started wondering what Sean’s dad might look like, so I decided to have him resemble Mick Mellamphy (who played Sean). In game dialogue, we can tell Sean really loved his dad. Which implies that the man, despite his violent history, loved his son. He was no better or worse a man than Arthur and Hosea, which is probably why Sean really seemed to want their approval, even more so than Dutch.

The little pistol in Da’s jacket is a Webley Bulldog pistol, which would have been historically accurate for him to carry in secret. Once again, I did way too much research for this, but it’s RDR2, so it felt appropriate.
