Derek was sitting on the couch with Cora, listening to her rant about her least favourite coworker for the second time that day. He tried to pay attention, really he did, but he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander to his favourite human.

Stiles had been…off for the last week or so. Derek didn’t want to push or make him uncomfortable but he couldn’t help but pout a little when, after months of Stiles being in his space, his thoughts, for most of the day there was suddenly this distance between them. It hurt. Derek had been wracking his brain for days, trying to think of something, anything, he could have done that would upset the younger man.

He knew he should probably just talk about it with Stiles, ask him what was wrong, but this thing between them felt fragile, he didn’t want to do anything to upset it. He was mostly confident that his boyfriend would come to him if there was a problem. Stiles was a talker, no way he didn’t talk about what was bothering him. It was just a matter of when.

And then Stiles walked in and Derek realized he was wrong, very wrong.

—i finally got back to chris doesn’t come back au, so here’s more of that. rawie and ems bullied me into posting both snippets 😏

Readying himself to enter the room, Eddie heard some beeping from inside, a gasp from Maddie alerting him.

Eddie entered the room right as dull blues popped open, Buck still looking worse for wear.

“Evan, you’re safe, ok. It’s Maddie.”

Maddie leaned in closer to his space, but it was like Buck didn’t even see her, his blues glassy and closed off.

Without warning, Buck became frantic, sitting up so fast he nearly knocked his head into Maddie’s.

“Christopher! Christopher! Christopher!”

Eddie watched with horror as Buck cried out for his son, all but shouting at the top of his lungs while he slashed at the blankets like the ocean waves, trying to cut across him. Eddie didn’t have time to think or react. He was stood frozen in place, the entire scene eating him up.

Eddie hand’t been able to re-enter the hospital after witnessing Buck’s shock, Bobby having driven him home to get a shower and some rest.

He felt guilty the entire time, knowing Chris was out there somewhere. It was selfish of him to hope no one else was holding Chris tightly, because Eddie wanted to be the one doing that. At the same time, he didn’t want his son to be alone.

“Wherever you are buddy, just know I love you son. I’ll never stop fighting for you.”

He tapped at the glasses around his neck, Eddie not having been able to part with them since Buck had handed them over. Like his St. Christopher necklace, they would stay close to his heart. When he took them off again, it would be to give them back to his son.

#PHnews: DOH tags 18 Covid hotspots in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) has tagged 18 communities in Eastern Visayas as coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) hotspots.

These areas have a clustering of cases or recorded at least three infected residents in the past two weeks, DOH 8 (Eastern Visayas) head, Minerva Molon, said in a statement on Friday.

In Samar, these are the villages of Dagum, Balud, Obrero, San Policarpio, Capoocan, Maulong, Rawis, Carmen, Poblacion 2, and Guindapunan, all in Catbalogan City, and Awang West and East, both in Calbayog City.

Identified areas in Leyte are the villages of Pitogo in Jaro town, Sto. Niño in Alangalang, District II Poblacion in Tabontabon, and Palarao in Leyte town, and in Southern Leyte, the villages of Combado and Mantahan in Maasin City.

"We have enhanced surveillance in these areas to contain the spread of the virus. We continue to coordinate with concerned local governments for contact tracing and urge them to intensify and continue the implementation of different initiatives to break the chain of transmission," Molon said.

She also urged village officials to step up their implementation of minimum public health standards.

Molon said the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) plays a crucial role in monitoring close contacts, suspected, probable, and confirmed Covid-19 patients in the communities.

"The BHERTs in different communities have been contributing much in this fight. Let us know and approach them as they are always ready to assist you," she said, calling on the public to immediately report to them anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Despite rising cases in these areas, the DOH said the region has maintained a high recovery rate.

Based on the report of the regional epidemiology and surveillance unit, 4,809, or 85.21 percent, of the region's 5,644 confirmed cases since March have already recovered, while 54 patients have died of complications.

"Most recorded deaths here are senior citizens and those with comorbidities, such as kidney and heart diseases, hypertension, and diabetes. We have a high recovery but we must not be complacent. We continue to advocate the strict practice of minimum health standards since we still observe several people who do not follow them," Molon said.

To date, the region has 781 patients confined in hospitals, community isolation units, and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities. (PNA)
