the thing is i dont think eddie ever actually thought about how he would have to explain to his parents (texan, mexican american catholics) why he chose his best friend (of only a few years by that point and has had more near-death experiences than him no less), to be his son’s guardian in the event of his death over them (his own parents!!) in a way that doesn’t sound gay. like he did all that and was probably like “well if i’m dead i dont have to explain myself” and safely packed it away

it took me 3 years to start reading the ballad of songbirds and snakes because I was very cynical about a villain prequel that kinda sounded like a cash grab, but it only took me 2 days to finish it. this is a really, really good book. holy shit. Snow is such a good villain protagonist. I called him a terrible person as quickly as chapter two and he still managed to elicit some sympathy (granted, from me, notorious villain stan). But that didn't change the fact that he was a terrible person the entire time. What a great change from the popular 'this villain was such a good person before!' prequels we often see

Vanora's route was such a delightful surprise for me, and now I actually can't help but think of her as kind of the canon LI for Ellaire. And not just based on personal preference (although I do like her character a lot). Rather, it's because of how the story centers around the two of them, in a way.

From the very beginning of the book, even before we know it, the core conflict that sets everything in motion is Xael vs Trespia. It is also the final confrontation the story has been building up to for the past three seasons. At the heart of this battle are the two princesses, who mirror each other in so many ways. They share a sheltered upbringing, a feeling of alienation. They were both betrayed by a parental figure. And they are both some of the biggest unwilling victims of this overarching conflict.

Naturally, none of this means that they have to be romantically involved. But the symmetry of their experiences makes their connection all the more resonant. Combined with the way their romance intertwines with the central conflict of the story, it makes Vanora's route very narratively compelling.

I have a mod (two mods, actually: Sexuality Traits and Rational Romance 2) that assigns every pawn a sexuality (gay, straight, bisexual, or asexual). I think bisexual is the "default" one.

The majority of my colony is bi. There are only 12 out of 29 colonists who aren't bi, and only 7 of those 12 are straight. The others are gay or asexual.

But yes, there was potential for some wild shenanigans on that ship! Perhaps that's what caused the space battle that destroyed them?

i’m not gon lie watchin’ Gyeongseong Creature triggered me very badly. i literally had to take a nap after two episodes

i almost didn’t finish. but im glad i did cuz while some of it is fictitious, i still bared witness to just a SUBSET of what went down back then. and it’s honestly made me want to pick up an academic telling of what happened

i used to be able to watch stuff like this without flinching but the more you know your history the harder it is. it’s no longer fake blood and bodies on a screen. it feels too real

i was honestly tired after watchin’ it. it’s the same kind of mental exhaustion from watchin’ an american slave movie or reading something similar

and even then all that was spurred by competition and revenge to see who could advance further. they literally wanted a comprehensive anatomy book that rivaled germany’s and wanted a monster that was better than the us’s atomic bomb
