旅先にて、ロンドンにある美術館「テート・ブリテン」のナイトイベント「Late at Tate Britain」へ行って来たことを以前記しましたが、せっかくなのでもっと詳しく書いていてみたいと思います。

テート・ブリテンのプレゼンテーションやワークショップに参加してきました。

The School of Life イベントの一つに、YouTubeで人気のチャンネル「スクール・オブ・ライフ」によるライブのプレゼンテーションがありました。テーマは「カルチャーが私たちの生活をいかに変えるか」。通常日本だと最後に質疑応答からの流れで軽くディスカッションみたいなことはありますが、プレゼンの途中、急に隣近所とディスカッションしてくださいという時間が強制的に与えられびっくり。まさにアクティブラーニング。ちなみに私のディスカッション相手は、同世代ぐらいの建築事務所で働いているという男性。すごくオシャレで洗練されていて、あぁこういう人がこういうのに参加するんだなぁと、面白かった。

ポスターワークショップ by JASMINE SHERA and HANNA HILL ロンドンをベースに活動するアーティストによるワークショップ。アイデンティティやエンパワーメント、自己愛、前向きな気持ちになることなどに情熱を注ぐ人たち。ワークショップは、コラージュのテクニックを使ってポスターを作るというものでした。このワークショップはアートやメンタルヘルスについて探っていくもの。私って自分のことをどう思っているの？自分のこと、好き？手を動かしながら、そういうことをたくさん考える時間でした。

ウォーリーハットバーでワインを買おうと列に並んでいる時、若い女性たちが素敵でクレイジーな紙の帽子を被っているのを発見。気になって話しかけると「ウォーリーハット」だと教えてくれました。「ウォーリーハット」を作るアートセラピーワークショップは、心理療法士のShan RixonとJenifer Raingoldによるもの。紙の帽子を作ることによって私たちの頭や心の中を深く掘り下げることを目的としていました。ウォーリーハットの制作は浄化作用、癒しの作用もあるようで、私の心配事が消え去ったことは言うまでもありません（笑）しかもこの帽子を持って歩いていたら、私が女性たちに話しかけたように、やっぱり色んな人達に話しかけられ、コミュニケーションツールにもなるなぁとひとり感心したのでした。

それにしても、全てのイベントが「Well-being」の考えをベースにしているなぁという印象。アートやクリエイティブな手法を、社会が抱える問題解決のために使っていこうというのがビシバシ感じ取れました。ふと、2018年、イギリスでは社会で孤立したり孤独を感じている人たちが多くそこにかかる費用も膨れ上がっていることから「孤独大臣」のポストを置いたりキャンペーンを実施しているというニュースを思い出しました。

イベントには、若者から年配の人たちまで多くの人たちがいて、私はひとりで行ったのにも関わらず、さらにいうとマイノリティなのにも関わらず…日本で暮らしているとき以上に、初めて会う人たちとの会話を楽しむことができたっていうのは、なんだか皮肉ですね。

世界でどのようなアートエデュケーションやラーニングプログラムが行われているのか、そこへの興味は尽きません。

日本だとどうしても、胡散臭かったり、真面目になりすぎたり、野暮ったくてオシャレさがなかったりしがちな題材に、堂々と真正面から超素敵な感じでアプローチしてるのがいいなぁと思った次第。

デザインの力、見せ方の力、編集力、企画力、誰を起用するかなど。どんなに素晴らしいプロジェクトでも、素敵に見えなかったら人は来ないし届かないし。大いなる嫉妬を抱いたのとともに（笑）自分がやりたいことを再確認した夜だったのでした。超寒かったけど、行ってよかった！

I joined a presentation and some workshops at the Tate Britain last Jan.

The School of Life This is a popular YouTube channel and they gave a live presentation at the event. They gave a presentation called “How Culture can Change your Life’’. And we had to discuss the topic with other participants. It was really exciting.

POSTER WORKSHOP by JASMIN SEHRA and HANNAH HILL This is a poster making workshop using a collage technique by a London-based artist passionate about identity, empowerment, self-love and positivity. The collage workshop explored art and mental health. What do I think about me. Do I like myself? I thought a lot of things while making the poster.

worry hat I found some young women wearing lovely and crazy hats made with paper when I was queuing for wine. They told me that it was a ‘worry hat’. The workshop was hosted by art psychotherapists Shan Rixon and Jennifer Raingold. The therapeutic arts workshop was to explore what was in our heads by creating a ‘worry hat’. My worries were gone! Making the hat was cathartic!

I was really impressed because all of the events were based on promoting well-being. All events looked as though they were trying to use art and creative methods to solve problems in our society.

It reminded me of some news that the government of the U.K. set up Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness in January 2018. I saw many people from young to elderly there. I went to the event by myself, but I didn’t feel loneliness at all. I really enjoyed chatting with a lot of new people there. Ironically I talked with more people than I usually do in my daily life in Japan.

I’m really interested in what’ on around art education and learning programs in the world.
