~ 🌟made this post of Rainbow Dee for the Oc Tournament🌈
I’m so nervous to make this post for @kirbyoctournament omg it’s my first time and Rainbow Dee’s as well ;w;
✮ Personality: Rainbow Dee personality is like similar to mine hehe she’s really smart, kind-hearted, overthinks stuff at times, she’s autistic and energetic. She doesn’t like overcrowded places. Meta Knight found her one day after he, Sword, and Blade saw a rainbow shooting star crash landed near Orange Ocean’s Seaside. Since than Meta Knight adopted her and she is Sailor Dee’s younger sister ;w; the two get along so well :) She calls Sword, Blade, and Dedede Uncle xD
✮ Lore: She is a celestial waddle dee young warrior. Rainbow Dee was born with insanely powerful magic each color of the rainbow represents a power/magic of her. Red is fire, Orange is Earth, Yellow is Electric, Green is Plant, Blue is Water, Purple is Nebula, and Pink is Healing. Yep she has a lot of magic and powers hehe since she landed in Popstar the Ancients are looking everywhere for her to seal her away and contain her strong power like what they done with Sir Galacta Knight. Meta Knight won’t let that happen he will protect her and keep her safe <3💫🌟🌈Whenever she uses her fire magic her hair turns to literal fire I really love that hehe :> Rainbow Dee’s sword she made that herself actually part of this proves she’s a strong warrior ;w;🌟

Thoughts on the idea that "Meta Knight is an older member of Kirbies Species" (a theory I haven't really seen since Star Allies and the Void lore drop). I still think Meta Knight dedicating himself to a single ability so much he becomes one of the strongest warriors of Dreamland is a really cool idea, and him trying to use his Copy Abilities (that he hasn't needed for Years) and struggling, probably still in the Early Kirby Game Era of "only one or two moves per ability" as opposed to Kirbies advanced moves is a funny AND cool idea. Also imagine him pulling out an ability as an ultimate last resort, fighting someone to the bitter end as he triggers Crash or something. (With how the Ultra Sword has a single appearance we treat as Kirbies Ultra Sword and yet it can also become Galaxia, this could be read as Meta Knight being a previous weirder of the Ultra Ability. That, or Kirby is just imagining cool weapons he's seen and the Ultra Sword matches it)
(Also kinda reflects their characters now that I write this. Meta Knight is a master os a single thing, and when it works (Forgotten Land) he does it well (defending Waddle Dee Town) whilst when it fails (Robobot as an example) he ends up losing bad. But Kirby is changing, being the one to win and survive because he can change (hence his abilities). Also this shows how BanDee became so relevant, because he decided to change to match everyone else)
I've seen the theory occasionally but yeah, not as much lately. Or rather, it might be that it's often taken as a given in the MetaDad sphere without a lot of exploration about what that would mean for him biologically. (I say as if I know all the fan work out there! ^^; Props to all the people who are writing interesting explorations of Meta Knight!)
But yes, I do wish we got to see Meta Knight use at least one or two different abilities, as was the original plan for Adventure! He would definitely be a good fit for the weapon based ones like Spear. (Whip could be fun too, since Meta likes his silly hats!)
And I like the idea you present that his abilities would be somewhat strained because he's rusty/not as good at switching on the fly like he used to. Or just that being able to switch effectively was never his sphere! (You mention Crash and I can definitely imagine a situation where he doesn't shake it off/is undamaged by using it like Kirby is. I guess that really WOULD make it a last resort, huh?)
!! The idea of Kirby visualizing the coolest weapons he knows of and the Ultra Sword responding is a really brilliant theory, I hope you know!! Although it would be cool to get some lore about in-game Galaxia as well, since all there is now is the not-really-canon anime. (Actually, Dess wants more lore about the various swords in general. Dark Matter Blade, the Rainbow Sword, the Master Sword, DMK's Blade, the Mistilteinn Sword, the Giant Tuna Fish...)
Bandanna Waddle Dee as idolizing Kirby to the point that he takes after Kirby's biggest strength, being able to change and grow, is another excellent observation! Thanks, Anon! This was a very inspirational read!

Does Kirby's extended cast get underutilized?
This i something I heard a lot of Kirby fans bring up in recent years. That despite big cast of memorable characters, Kirby tends to shove them to the side in favor of introducing new ones and putting the older ones on the back burner never to be used again. But just how true this is?
Warning, rather big post ahead!
Let's take a look at almost all modern Kirby games (including spin-offs) and summarize how each of them treated the extended cast.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land - re-established King Dedede and Meta Knight as the part of the "main four" of the franchise, introduced Bandana Waddle Dee into the main cast after his role in Super Star Ultra. Introduced Magolor. Referenced Wham Bam Rock, Dragoon from Air Ride and Marx via stone transformations. Galacta Knight returns from Super Star Ultra as a surprise boss in the True Arena.
Kirby's Dream Collection: New Challenge Stages (yes, i'm going to count it, since Kumazaki confirmed that Magolor moved to Dream Land when he reformed and this is so far the only game to actually show it), - but, yeah, we see Magolor again in a fairly major role, the first time he appears as a good guy with a bit of a trickster streak to him, suggested that he stayed in Dream Land after he gifted Kirby and co a theme park.
Kirby Triple Deluxe - cameos of a lot of characters from sprite-based games via keychains (of note, Magolor and Yin Yarn got special keychains with exclusive 8-bit sprite artwork), animal trio from Dream Land 2 appear as stage hazards in Kirby Fighters, Shadow Kirby appears as the final boss of Kirby Fighters, Magolor cameos as a painting in the haunted mansion level of the Wild World, the dimensional mirror and Dark Meta Knight return after the long absence. Introduced people of the sky, Taranza and Queen Sectonia.
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe - Taranza is featured as one of Dedede's friends and supporters on the trophies and on the title screen. It was confirmed that the game itself is set in a theme park Magolor created for Dedede, Magolor himself appears in the final, most difficult, stage.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Bandana Dee is reinforced as Kirby's true P2 character, Drawcia is referenced and got a special collectible in a figurine, being one of the few spin-off characters to appear more than once alongside Yin-Yarn. Animal buddies are referenced in Kirby transformation sequences. Pon and Con get a cameo in Elline's diary as comedy show hosts.
Kirby Planet Robobot - Oh boy. This one. Well, we of course have a LOT of returning bosses from the past games, such as clones of Dark Matter and Queen Sectonia (giving us a glimpse as her original body before she transformed, adding a major lore revelation past her introduction), people of the sky and floralia are mentioned on numerous occasions in the pause screen descriptions, quite a few characters got brand new artwork via stickers (such as daroach, magolor and taranza). And the last but certainly not least, we have Star Dream which is one of the clockwork stars like Galactic Nova. While not exact same as Nova, it's meant to be of the same species as Nova and the reveal banks on you knowing that, so it's one of the most direct continuity nods in the franchise.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe - this game features, although AU versions, but still, of Susie and Taranza, and, unknowingly at the time, the same Magolor we already know and love in a different role entirely. Although it's technically different versions of the characters, I still count it, because it's still new game and new story that uses familiar faces.
Kirby Star Allies - i will die if i try to list everything this game has. but let's just say pretty much every mainline kirby game (and a lot of spin-offs) were referenced in some capacity, and 90% of major characters of all mainline kirby games are accounted for and PLAYABLE in this one.
Super Kirby Clash - Magolor is once again is the shopkeeper, AU Taranza and Susie have major roles once again, au version of NIGHTMARE of all characters is the main villain, technically making him the first antagonist since Dark Matter to appear in more than one game, King D-Mind returns by the virtue of this game being a sequel to the original Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Galacta Knight re-appears as Aeon Hero, hinting at his origins.
Kirby Fighters 2 - Magolor and Gooey are playable characters, implied to be a part of Kirby's inner friend circle on the level of Bandana Dee, Meta Knight and King Dedede. The first spin-off to include playable characters outside of the primary main cast. Several newer characters such as Flamberge were referenced via unlockable costumes, as well as appearing (alongside her sisters) as stage hazards on the Jambastion stage.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - this is perhaps the first Kirby game on this list where I can't say they concerned themselves with referencing the past much. But that's kind of the point, Shinya Kumazaki described Star Allies and Forgotten Land as "sister games" and in this sense, you can say that SA got all the unsubtle continuity and references, while FL is definite step towards new original direction. However, it's still got a lot of subtle connections AND UNEXPECTED canonization of Morpho Knight. A character that was literally introduced a GAME AGO. It's also been heavily alluded that the civilization formerly inhabiting the New World is heavily related to the (eventually) Halcandran ancients, giving us a genuine glimpse at their culture. Even then, this game is the exception that proves the point. Lack of references and fanservice, or major character comebacks is this game's specific weird factor, not the rule.
Kirby's Dream Buffet - this is similar to Star Allies where there's a LOT of references to past games. You can pretty much dress up Kirby as almost every character in the series, including the likes of the Mage Sisters and newly introduced Elfilin from Forgotten Land.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe - Merry Magoland introduces masks which not only make it so all of the dream friends and helpers from Star Allies cameo in this game, as well as new characters from the Forgotten Land, they also make it so this isn't exclusive to purely playable characters. Giving us masks of Hyness, Queen Sectonia and Leongar. Magolor Epilogue is one huge mode focused on Magolor specifically, the first time such luxury been given to someone outside of the primary main cast. Said mode also references and alludes to a lot of games (including Dream Collection), as well as tying it towards Kirby Clash games in another unexpected continuity moment.
As you can see, not a lot of these roles are major, but it's not the main point I'm trying to come across. HAL remembers about these characters and definitely knows that fans love them and want more of them. It's simply the matter of building up the series from ground up after what essentially amounted to big hiatus in the 00s. Returning characters in another mainline game just right after they were introduced would be a tacky move that would be way too safe and complacent. Building up the cast was the right move and they are slowly but surely started embracing it more and more over time. Forgotten Land is distinctly only game in this list that mostly avoided direct returns and callbacks and it still got Morpho Knight.

⭐ Kirby Lore 🌙. Well, I don't have many ideas to post so... I'll do a little explanation about Kirby's Lore, although only about the Zero trilogy, because in general it's quite long... 🌙The story spans the Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Dream Land 3 games and ends in Kirby 64 though it continues to be referenced in later games. 🤍 The game begins with a dark being called dark matter in the peaceful kingdom of dream land which begins to corrupt and possess people including king dedede . Kirby manages to reach the castle, eh, he also frees some animal friends, the most important ones are Rick Kine and Coo and well, Gooe, but this will not become important until the next game. Kirby defeating king dedede will face dark matter which will take on the appearance of a swordsman thanks to positive feelings, the rainbow sword is formed,With which Kirby fights dark matter at the end Kirby defeats dark matter and saves dream land for a short period of time . 🖤 Now we continue with the events of dreamland 3 in which dark matter appears again but now I am accompanied by an entity called Zero, which is believed to be where dark matter is born Here when Kirby passes the levels he must help different characters to recover the positive feelings which apparently are the weakness of dark matter and Zero. 💙 now if you remember I said that gooey would be important in this game since here it is revealed that this character was originally part of dark matter but when trying to possess Kirby he became well for reasons that were never explained well at the end of the game Kirby will face Zero who is only weak to positive feelings Kirby takes victory by killing Zero and the peace returns to dreamland.💖The last game that enters the trilogy is Kirby 64 which continues the events of dreamland 3 In this game, dark matter returns and attacks a planet of pure fairies. In summary, the only one that comes out of there and is saved is a little fairy called riboon, who asks Kirby for help so that she can save their planet and to recover a crystal that had been scattered through space since it helped in the protection of the planet Here they join the aid of a wadle dee king dedede and a girl painter named Adeline who was a boss in dreamland 3, at the end of the game Kirby will fight against something called miracle matter which Apparently he is part of Zero at the end of this fight Kirby now he will face Zero with the help of riboon the difference now is that Zero has an appearance that is associated with an angel at the end Kirby finally defeats Zero and returns peace to dreamland . ⭐This story is quite long, I really only made a small summary but if you want me to explain something better, I will gladly do it 💖

Because meta ideas for AUs are fun to think about.
Princess in Dreamland meta ideas! Part 1/2.
Probably some episodes showing where Chloé is and her adapting to life in Dreamland.
Triple Deluxe: Probably a multiparter. At first everyone disliked Taranza for kidnapping Dedede. Also shows how chaotic Dreamland can be and shows Chloé's character development. Anyways Masked Dedede makes everyone worry, then Sectonia appears and everyone hated her until they learned her lore. Dedede Tour is probably a what if episode focused around Dedede and Chloé going through it and showing their bond as father and daughter.
The Squeak Squad steals half of the Miraculous and Mullo joins the Squeak Squad: Chaos and everyone wondering who gets what Miraculous.
Dedede being Akumatized: Worry for Dedede and people cheering because he's a good dad.
Rainbow Curse: Probably a background B-Plot multiparter for everyone to coo over.
Bandana Dee being Akumatized: The fandom going nuts and wanting to hug Bandana Dee.
Robobot: Probably a multiparter. Worry for Meta Knight becomes a thing after seeing Mecha Knight, and everyone agrees with the characters because yeah that would probably lead to an Akuma. Worry for poor Longg. Laughing at Haltmann's full name. Star Dream is Star Dream and disturbs them all. Meta Knightmare Returns is probably a what if that shows how despite their contrasting personalities, Longg and Meta Knight do get along and can work together well. Also, Galacta Knight.
Meta Knight Akuma: No one is surprised and they love Ladybug and Chat Noir using swords, and they especially love the Meta Knights gift of replicas of those swords as a thank you gift.
Princess of Dreamland meta part 2/2!
Star Allies: Multiparter. Everyone hates Jamba Hearts. Meltdowns over buff Dedede. The Friend Wand summoning both Ladybug and Chat Noir at the same time. Wait there's an actual cult? Hyness please slow down you talk to fast. Hyness is crazy. WHY THE SACRIFICE?! So they just killed a god. Guest Star mode is a what if, and inteoduction to Morpho Knight.
Heroes in Another Dimension: Probably a separate multiparter. Wraps up the loose ends of the Star Allies multiparter.
Forgotten Land: Multiparter. Kirby no don't stuff a car into your mouth. Oh cool new character! SAVE THE WADDLE DEES! Thank you Chloé for helping Kirby, Elfilin, and Bandana Dee save the Waddle Dees. Waddle Dee Town is adorable. Meta Knight beat up Gorimondo how many times?! Oh god Dedede is being mind controlled help him. ELFILIN NO! Why is the armadillo menacing? Dedede is freed and is holding the Beast Pack back after saving a Waddle Dee that tripped! Um, okay, flat out lore I guess? Leongar let Elfilin go. Um, is Leongar okay? OH GOD WHAT THE **** IS THAT?! ELFILIN NO! This just in, Kirby and Bandana Dee fight another god! ELFILIN YES! UM?! Why is Kirby swallowing a truck so cool? ELFILIN NO! ELFILIN YES!
The weird Fecto Dream World thing: Huh this is cool. Okay yeah Leon does deserved to be saved after that blob thing. *Watching the cool fights.* "And here we are!" Leon has been saved! **** YOU FECTO FORGO! MORPHO KNIGHT CANON?! Leon...? Leon has been saved, for real!
Ultra Cup Z: So is this just a fight episode? *Eating popcorn during the battles.* CHAOS ELFILIS?! WAIT THIS IS CANON?! AnD hErE wE aRe! Okay that was sweet.
I love this :D
Also I feel there would also be occasionally flashback episode arcs to previous games

What your favorite Kirby game says about you:
Dream Land: You’re hardcore! You’re probably an OG fan of the series. You’re probably really good at the games, especially without using abilities.
Adventure: You love the NES and know exactly what a technical marvel Adventure was for the system it’s on. You have a complex relationship with the anime.
Dream Land 2: You like Dark Matter Swordsman.
Super Star: You actually played SSU but that’s ok, it’s the better version. You’re either a huge Marx fan or a huge Meta Knight fan. You probably have some kind of headcanon overarching story that connects all the subgames together. You think Galactic Nova is the shit.
Dream Land 3: You think Super Star is overrated. You love the graphics of this game and appreciate pixel art. You make a big deal about the final boss and think that it’s super crazy that they let that into a Kirby game. You fucking hate ROB.
Crystal Shards: You think the N64 aesthetic is neat and shit. Clearly you are stronger than me I couldn’t get past the weird movement. You played this game through an emulator or Dream Collection. You think that the ability combinations are the coolest shit ever and hope and pray for them to come back.
Amazing Mirror: Metroidvanias metroidvanias metroidvanias. You have a ton of weird little Mirror World headcanons. Some of you are really weird about Dark Mind???? It pisses you off when people blame DMK for the events of Triple Deluxe.
Squeak Squad: DA ROACH, BABY. You had a crush on him as a kid / still do. You think the Flagship games get a bad rap. Really wish Animal would come back as an ability.
Return to Dream Land: Magolor and Bandanna Dee aren’t in Smash, and you’re upset about at least one of those. You didn’t actually play this with your friends.
Triple Deluxe: Taranza fan. Really upset at a frog for some reason? You think tragedies are cool. Possibly a Sectaranza shipper. You miss Bell and Beetle.
Planet Robobot: You adamantly believe that this one has the best OST. You really want to like Susie because she’s cute but are very aware that she’s like really evil in an uncomfortable way. You also like Super Star but just not as much. You listen to Siivagunner.
Star Allies: You’re either a very casual fan or a very dedicated fan, no in between. If the latter is true, you love all of the Dream Friends and think about them hanging out a lot.
Air Ride: CITY TRIAL BITCHES!!!! You think that this game is criminally underrated and long for an Air Ride 2. You also like Smash Bros.
Canvas Curse: Your DS’s touchscreen is ravaged.
Epic Yarn: This was your first Kirby game and it’s really special to you. You really love Prince Fluff and REALLY want him to come back soon. You fucking LOVE the OST. You have weird feelings about Yin-Yarn.
Mass Attack: You’re literally insane. You probably have like crazy lore about Necrodeus that you made up. You have listened to Daroach talk about random shit for hours.
Fighters / Fighters 2: I don’t think anyone cares about Fighters but all Fighters 2 fans ship Metadede. That’s the only reason people care about this game.
Rainbow Curse: You own a WiiU LOL. But no seriously you think this game’s OST is massively underrated and you’re absolutely right. You were disappointed about the final boss in some way.

Does anyone else hate seeing people conflate game and anime canon despite how much they contradict?
Like, I can make an entire list right here:
*In the show, Wheelie was just one monster (basically this one character named Fang just turned into a monster because rage or something, I dunno, whatever happened to Knuckle Joe-) who gets blown up and presumably dies because he was never seen again after. In the games, it’s an entire species and NOT inherently hostile (honestly a LOT of sometimes-friendly game characters are monsters in the show, and a lot of them DIED in the show so- [Kracko, Paint Roller, Chilly, etc.)
*Kabu in the show was some totem or something where Star Warriors could rest and heal (IDK, whatever Meta Knight said, I forgot-). In the games, they’re just that one random enemy you never pay attention to as you kill them all for attacking you for no reason (oh yeah, they’re also tiny in the games. While there ARE large variants, well... they have different heads than the small ones, while the anime versions were basically oversized small ones [I guess the Kirby Clash games had something like that but those games are canonically their own universe separate from the main games anyway and contradict anime canon even MORE).
*We probably would’ve seen Escargoon outside of that one Mass Attack sub-game cameo if he were actually canon. Like, he would’ve been in Triple Deluxe. Dedede gets Princess-Peached in that game. Seriously-
*Waddle Dees are flat-out unable to speak in the anime while they can speak just fine in the games. Check out the transcript of Revenge of the King, or Kirby Battle Royale, or Revenge of Meta Knight. They talk. The Dees can talk.
*Meta Knight would've had to go backwards in maturity because he just fricking tries to kill Kirby (who’s, like, five) in Revenge of Meta Knight. That and him trying to take over Dream Land and all are just... I could never picture the anime version of him doing that.
*Apparently some official material referred to Cappy Town as anime-exclusive so it literally doesn’t exist in the games (if it did, we would’ve seen it because it was located REALLY close to Castle Dedede)
*According to Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Kirby just “blew into Dream Land on a spring breeze.” That’s his origin story (minus the Void Termina stuff but-). I think that’s a bit far off from CRASHING INTO THE LAND IN A SPACE SHIP.
*Dedede just doesn’t talk the way he does in the anime, and I’m talking about straight up with the Japanese media. Basically, in Japanese, there are multiple pronouns that mean the same thing as I/Me in English, and they can reflect different things. In the anime, he uses わし (”washi”), which is commonly associated with elderly men. In the games (and the light novels too. IDK about the manga ‘cus I haven’t read any of that, though (apart from Epic Yarn where he just talks the way he does in the anime there in generally apparently, though from what I can tell that thing went off the anime quite a bit in other aspects so I’m not surprised. Eh, either way, Epic Yarn is still just one game as compared to multiple others), he uses オレ様 (”oresama”), which is... really just pompous. He also doesn't end sentences with ぞい (”zoi” [an archaic particle used to add mild emphasis... as far as I know, at least), further setting him apart from his anime counterpart.
*Kine in the anime is presumably about Tiff’s age since he had a crush on her or something (IDK, whatever the frick that was)... Kine in the games has a wife (Mine, who appeared in Kirby’s Dream Land 3. She also appeared in the light novel, “Kirby: Save the Rainbow Islands!”)
*Rick’s girlfriend from the games, Pick, is nowhere to be found in the show.
*The show was basically one big weird advertisement for Nightmare in Dream Land, let’s be honest. Otherwise Nightmare wouldn’t have been an important villain. In the games, he was really just some guy who appeared before the lore really started to kick in. Like, he’s pretty underwhelming and NOT that powerful in the games compared to how he was in the anime.
*Apparently Coo got hit with a Gender Flip (look it up in TV Tropes-) in the Japanese version of the show specifically and no one ever talks about that.
*Cappies in the show don’t wear caps.
*Apparently there was some drama in the show where it was like “Dedede’s family stole the right to rule Dream Land from the Cappies” or whatever but in the games he literally just proclaimed himself king and no one cared.
*Dedede and Meta Knight are totally gay for each other in the games but there’s now way that’d happen in the show- (ok this is a joke one but frick it I ship Metadede anyway- though, like, they’re at least canonically friends in the game despite Dedede’s greediness. In the show, though, Meta just fricking kicked him down a hill once)
*Why would Lololo and Lalala work for Dedede and try to fight Kirby in the games if they were the same characters as they were in the anime? They were his friends in the anime.
*The Star Rod in the show was some end-level copy ability Kirby got from inhaling the Warp Star. In the games, it’s some probably-artifact powering the Fountain of Dreams, which was absent in the show.
*Pretty much everything I’ve seen implies that Kirby and Dedede first met during the events of the first game.
All those and more are why the anime and games are separate universes and should be treated as such.
Also: It’s funnier to imagine that everyone just had no previous history when this pink gumball showed up and started wrecking them in battle. Like, imagine some random toddler just walking into your room and beating the crap out of you because you committed tax fraud. Imagine that.
Oh yeah and just imagine the anime and game worlds meeting-
Like, imagine Game-Kirby just going up to Anime-Meta Knight and being like “y’know I beat up your counterpart on a daily basis, right? like that one time he tried to take over Dream Land” and then Anime-Meta just has a stroke or something-
(before anyone says Game Kirby can’t talk either: the official Kirby Drama CD disagrees, and so do the light novels [which at least keep the characters in-character, despite being their own universe. Tbh, the novels are what I wished the anime had been like, and they deserve the amount of attention it’s gotten, or maybe even more... then again I’m a sucker for seeing depressing Kirby sh-)

Concert Hopper Chris' Favorite Metal Albums of 2020
With most of 2020 lost to fans of live music, we have had to make do with new album releases to get our fix. To that end, Concert Hopper's three resident metalheads (Editor in Chief Xerxes Tzolis, Album Review Editor Chris Griffy, and Metal Prophet Richard Davenport) have each compiled their list of favorite releases, which will be released over the next few days. The lists show just how diverse the “metal” umbrella is, with each bringing a different sub-genre preference to their list. Chris’ list leans heavily into his love of progressive, power, and symphonic metal.
Ad Infinitum- Chapter I- Monarchy When we released our mid-year list of favorites, this album was #5, the last on my list. 6 months later it has been the album I've found myself returning to more than any other. This is as strong a debut as I've seen in years, led by the pure power of vocalist Melissa Bonny, who can hit symphonic high notes as well as Simone Simons and growl like Angela Gossow. I hope the “Chapter 1” in the album's title means there is a Chapter 2 coming in 2021, because I need more of what Ad Infinitum is serving up.
Demons & Wizards- III It's been a decade since Demons & Wizards released game-changing power metal album Touched by the Crimson King. Since then, the band's two founders, Hansi Kursch and Jon Schaffer, have focused on their primary bands, Blind Guardian and Iced Earth, but never completely forgot about Demons & Wizards. Lucky us. While not the generational album Crimson King was, their new release III will tick every box their fans want. There is a brutality on III beyond either of their other albums, with Schaffer finally going full-force on the guitar and Kursch matching him with the vocal power that's made him one of the best in the business.
Nightwish- Human:II:Nature For their second studio album with vocalist Floor Jansen (the best female vocalist in metal today and arguably ever), Nightwish continues the themes explored on 2015's Endless Forms Most Beautiful. Band leader and primary songwriter Tuomas Halopainen's exploration of the balance (or more accurately imbalance) between nature and technology, best exemplified in “Noise”, which highlights how the fake reality of social media taints our reality.
Conception- State of Deception Damn, is it nice to hear Roy Khan back in the metal saddle. After leaving Kamelot in 2011, he retired from music until 2017 when he reformed his pre-Kamelot band Conception, which released their first full-length album State of Deception this year. Any worries that a half decade of retirement might have dulled Khan's soaring vocals is banished from the first note.
Archon Angel- Fallen 2020 must be the year of the return because, unless you have been lucky enough to get the “East” version of Trans-Siberian Orchestra in your city, former Savatage and CircleIICircle vocalist Zak Stevens has been missing from the music world. That changed in 2020 when he formed Archon Angel with Secret Sphere guitarist Aldo Lonobile. Unfortunately, they picked a bad time to form a new band, playing exactly one concert (on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise) before COVID-19 shut down touring. But if Fallen is any indication, when the concert world finally returns, Archon Angel is a band you should be willing to travel to see. Khemmis- Doomed Heavy Metal Colorado doom metal revivalists Khemmis are as fearless as a band gets, and that fearlessness is on display with their new EP Doomed Heavy Metal. A mix of covers and live cuts, Khemmis gives a Black Sabbath-esque makeover to a bluegrass standard (“A Conversation With Death”) and manages to make the usually bad idea of trying to cover metal god Ronnie James Dio work with a cover of “Rainbow in the Dark” that retains their style but shows a respect to the source material that was not present in the hipster “ironic” idiocy that was Killswitch Engage's “Holy Diver.”
Ensiferum- Thalassic One of the things I most love about folk metal is the ability to learn the lore and stories of other countries while I rock out to great music. Ensiferum brings me that ability on Thalassic with songs like “The Defence of the Sampo” while utilizing the addition of clean vocalist/keyboardist Pekka Montin to delve into a less silly than Alestorm but no less fun bit of pirate metal with songs like “Run From the Crushing Tide.” Even the goofiness of “Rum, Women, Victory” is mitigated by crushing riffs and thundering double bass drums.
Unleash the Archers- Abyss While they tend to be lumped into the “power metal” camp because of their lyrical content, at their heart Canada's Unleash the Archers are as pure an old school NWOBHM band in the vein of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden as has come along in decades. Driven by the insane vocal range of Brittany Slayes, Abyss continues the concept storyline begun on their last album Apex. It's a fun sci-fi/fantasy story for those who want to read up on it, but you can walk in with no knowledge of or interest in the story and just revel in the unabashed homage to true heavy metal that is Unleash the Archers.
Live Albums:
Dee Snider- For the Love of Metal Live If you only know Dee Snider from the cartoonish MTV video for Twisted Sister's “We're Not Gonna Take It”, you are missing out on one of the best kept secrets in metal. Twisted Sister (and all of Dee's subsequent bands and solo projects) approach thrash in their intensity. His influence can be seen on his 2018 release For the Love of Metal, which featured everyone from Jamey Jasta to Alissa White-Gluz. But Dee is best appreciated in a live environment, where his boundless energy is on full display. For the Love of Metal Live is taken from a Bloodstock performance and mixes new songs with Twisted Sister classics and even one song (“Ready to Fall”) from his tragically underrated post-Twisted Sister band with Savatage's Al Pitrelli, Widowmaker (the inclusion of which alone would make it my favorite live album of the year). Kamelot- I Am the Empire Live I mentioned earlier how nice it was to see Roy Khan back in the music world, but that doesn't mean his former band Kamelot is dead. Current vocalist Tommy Karevik has perfectly walked the “replacement vocalist” tightrope of respecting the original material while leaving his mark on the band's new albums. Proof is in the band's I Am the Empire Live, which may be the most perfectly produced live album I've ever heard. Every note is crystal clear and highlights not only the vocals of Karevik but also those of guests Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Lauren Hart (Once Human), and frequent Kamelot collaborator Elize Ryd (Amaranthe). Right now, Kamelot is as consistently great as any band on the power metal scene and I Am the Empire Live shows why.

New Titans #112
Tumblr media
Don't you worry your pretty little head about Red Star's right leg.
I keep trying to organize my life so that I can read more actual books (as opposed to comic books which I'm not judging. I'm just differentiating) without having to sacrifice any of the other things I enjoy doing. What that generally means is that I wind up reading about ten pages every morning before going to bed (I work nights!). Which realistically means I need to do improve my time management if I'm going to be serious about reading. I have managed to read the first "book" of Alan Moore's Jerusalem but it's taken me a fucking long time to do it. I thought it would take me a long time because I was expecting a difficult read but I'm finding it enjoyable. Plus by the time I've finished, I'm fairly certain I'll be able to navigate Northampton with ease. I'm also wondering if all the descriptions of the characters' movements through the city are an encoded treasure map! Or, being that Alan Moore wrote it, it's more likely a spell to summon some sex demons. While organizing (and by organizing, I mean the main definition of organizing: moving shit around in a way that makes you feel like you're accomplishing something but really you're just engaging in an activity to forget about your mortality for awhile. Plus you can generally get some really fucking good dusting done), I managed to place all of the books from various book shelves that I have yet to finish reading (or that I simply want to reread) on the top shelf of the row of bookcases in my office. Jerusalem is first on that list followed by some books by high school friends (Rogue's Curse by Jason Beymer and Soy Rakelson's children's books that I'm willing to bet everything I own as well as my life and my mother's life on that they're black and white morality tales with a super conservative and possibly Ayn Randian view of the world). After that is There Is No Year which Doom Bunny gave me because it's supposedly a terrible book that I'm not sure he even finished and which I wanted to make fun of (but, hey, maybe I'll love it!) and the rest: Inside the Yellow Submarine, Trixie Belden Mystery-Quiz Book #1, Don Quixote, Gravity's Rainbow, Lost in the Funhouse (reread!), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, And the Ass Saw the Angel (by Nick Cave!), King's The Wind Through the Keyhole (A Dark Tower book!), Crime and Punishment, Hey Nostradamus!, The Best of H.P. Lovecraft, The Lore and Language of Schoolchildren, The Boomer Bible (re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-read), Six Volumes of The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night (finished with one and a half volumes after owning this set for twenty five years!), The Holy Bible (currently reading for my Patreon), The Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry (Second Edition) (because I need poetic context for the 20th century!), Only Revolutions, The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick, and The Familiar (currently just book one but there's going to be like nine hundred of them, so maybe I won't even bother!). Oh, and I just added We Learn Nothing (reread) and I Wrote This Book Because I Love You, both by Tim Kreider. I'll probably start with those because funny essays are easier to get through than anything by Dostoevsky, Danielewski, Pynchon, Cervantes, Barth, Joyce, or Sakelson! I mean Rakelson! Oh man. Rakelson would have a stroke if he knew I listed his name with all those postmodern authors! Not that they're all postmodern. You can figure out which ones are and aren't on your own. I'm busy reading New Titans #112 which must be good since Starfire is naked on the cover. Okay, almost naked. She is wearing a dickie and a belt. I know a lot of you just skipped that big paragraph while thinking, "Oh, la dee da! What a fancy book reader you are! Fucking virtue signaler! Or whatever the term for listing or showing off your reading list full of classic literary texts is! Seems like virtue signaler works well enough! Better even than what idiotic fuck nuggets use it for on Twitter anyway!" But maybe you missed the part about how those are books I haven't been able to get through yet! I've owned some of these books for over a decade! And I didn't even put The Collected Works of Gertrude Stein on this shelf because do I need to be reminded that I used that book more as an address book than something to read? Although I carried it with me everywhere I went for a year or two (which is why it's full of phone numbers and addresses!). And I really did want to read it. I didn't carry it around so people could think, "Look at him with that book! Who the fuck is Gertrude Stein? What a ponce!" Although to be fair, I did leave off a few books on my "to-read" shelf! But it wasn't because they weren't smart enough sounding! It's because they were comic books and also pornography and also also fucking hilarious.
Tumblr media
One of my friends in the state department who learns a brand new language every four years or so bonded with me over Oglaf last time he visited. He was all, "I'm glad I know somebody I can share my love of Oglaf with and not be looked at like a completely demented perv!" Although I do look at him like he's a completely demented perv, I didn't need to admit it to his face!
I embrace my delusion that readers merely skipped "one" paragraph of my comic book "reviews"! This issue is called "A New Home" and my brain continued to add to that title with "o-erotic Journey." Mostly because of this panel:
Tumblr media
Fairly certain "bamming" a baby is illegal, even in space.
The Titans (and I use that term loosely since the characters encompassed by that shorthand are Changeling, Red Star, Pantha, Baby, and Starfire) have been stranded on The Terraist's space station. That name probably could use a hyphen so you don't first read it as terRAIST twelve times thinking "What the fuck does that mean?" before your brain finally sees the God-awful pun and you give up, finally letting go of that last gossamer thread that's been connecting you to the reality you just discovered doesn't fucking matter. How can there be any meaning to existence when an editor greenlights the name "Terraist"? I'm sure Wolfman's pitch contained at least two dozen "Get it?!"s. Anyway, maybe most readers never even noticed, shrugging their shoulders at every single moment in which a comic book doesn't make sense because at least Starfire is practically naked throughout the last few issues! I have a theory that most people don't really absorb much of what they're reading in comic books. They tend to just love a character for some magic reason and stick with loving that character no matter what terrible writer winds up writing them. And at that point, they just ignore plot holes and inconsistencies and terrible dialogue and whatever the fuck Ann Nocenti does with her typewriter. They simply go star-eyed and gape lovingly at the drawn images of Dick Grayson's throbbing buttocks. That was a hypothetical sentence and not a memoir. Here's a panel with evidence that might lead to proof of my theory if I could actually interview anybody who read this comic book in 1994 and ask them, "Did you even notice this panel?" To which they would all probably respond, "No, I was distracted by the opposite page where you can see tons of Starfire's side-boob and I think one of her outer labia." Um, anyway, the panel I mentioned:
Tumblr media
Damn, Marv. Beyond the Forest was nearly fifty years old at the time this comic came out.
To be fair to Wolfman and Changeling, I did an Internet search on "Whatta dump" (and, yes, I spelled it differently than Marv did) and the first hit was video of the scene where Bette Davis says the line. What's odd is that she delivers it flatter and straighter than anything I would have expected out of Bette Davis's eyes...I mean mouth. Gar's rendition of it is terrible! The way Bette says it, I would never think to spell it any way but "What a dump." But that's not the point! The point is how is "What a dump!" a immortal words?! Granted, you're probably now thinking to yourself, "Well, how did X and Y and Z become oft-quoted movie lines?!" (where X and Y and Z are actual phrases from movies and not just letters. But I'm not psychic so how should I know what terrible oft-quoted movie lines you were thinking of? Mine would have been "Seven schools in seven states and the only different is my locker combination" or "William H. Bonny. You are not a god?" "Why don't you pull the trigger and find out?" or "Ziggy Piggy! Ziggy Piggy! Ziggy Piggy! Ziggy Piggy!") I suppose one can't help what phrases the zeitgeist picks up on. According to the YouTube video of Bette Davis, "What a dump" is Bette's famous bitchy line from that movie I'd never heard of. I guess I just haven't traveled in the right circles! Although I have heard the phrase "What a dump!" Has everybody in the world been quoting Bette Davis all this time and I just didn't know it?! Was this movie the first time that phrase was ever uttered?! To think I could have known all of this if I hadn't been distracted by Starfire's side-boob and — I'm fairly certain — one of her outer labia. To shut Gar up, Starfire admits that she doesn't remember any of them and then she punches Pantha in her vagina.
Tumblr media
Starfire punching Pantha in the vagina is funnier than anything that Pantha has said in the last forty issues.
After punching Pantha in the vagina, Starfire knees Red Star in the balls for no reason. Unless the reason is that she's been wanting to do that for a long time and her pretend amnesia allows her this moment! I suppose I'd fake amnesia too to get away from being a Titan. I've been joking about seeing Starfire's outer labia but is this it? Is that one of those things?
Tumblr media
Is my boner proof that it's her labia or is my boner proof that I'm a comic book reading virgin nerd?
I can't wait for everybody to message me telling me how that can't be her outer labia because that's not where it would be and anyway this photographic proof I'm sending you is what one looks like! Then I can actually them and say, "Well, you can't know that for sure! She's an alien and maybe her outer labia is fully engorged due to Pantha back-fucking her!" Also I'd really enjoy some of that photographic evidence!
Tumblr media
This is not what I would do with those photographs.
Garfield turns into another monster because he can't do birds and rhinos anymore. He lies on top of Starfire and then reveals something that destroys every moment in DC canon where Garfield turned into a rhino to knock some hugely muscled bad guy on their ass. He tells Red Star, "Hey, I may be big and ugly but my mass doesn't change! I'm not as strong as she is!" Well fuck me! The whole concept of Beast Boy has been based on a huge lie! Or at least scientific principles that make the character utterly worthless. Why the fuck would he ever change into a huge beast if his mass doesn't change? Wouldn't he always change into something small and fast to be most effective?! This revelation is one of those moments where DC tries to make their universe more logical but only winds up fucking up the entire multiverse. Red Star and Changeling knock Starfire unconscious and then tie her up which probably isn't totally rapey at all, even if the artist draws it that way.
Tumblr media
Yep. Everything is just fine here! Move along.
Meanwhile on Earth, Arsenal, Aqualad, and Flash consider a proposal from the United States government to get the Titans to work for them. They consider it over a couple waters at a local strip club named Ding Dong Daddy's." I mean, the comic book calls it a "retro club" but everybody either gets a private lap dance or laid. It's hard to tell what Marv Wolfman was going for with this scene. Proof that the young cool Titan men fuck? Proof that women are only to provide relief for men's sexual desires? Proof that Aqualad should maybe think twice before saying "Hey guys! We came together!" when women are throwing their vaginas at them?
Tumblr media
How long does Aqualad think a lap dance takes?
Back in space while the reader was away, Red Star and Changeling have managed to put a gag on Starfire and tie her legs together. That makes things less rapey, right? If not, I'm sure Marv will improve the situation in a sensitive and professional manner!
Tumblr media
Oh come on!
Starfire remembers everything while Changeling whines about how he didn't get to kiss Starfire while she was tied up and scared and beaten and suffering from amnesia. Poor kid! Maybe next time! After regaining her memory, Starfire says, "X'hal! That was dick I saw in South America!" and I snicker like a twelve year old. The first decision Starfire makes after regaining her memory is that she and Dick should get their marriage annulled, if it even took which I'm pretty sure it didn't. If you were a fan of reading the letters pages, whoever the letter answer person was constantly kept pointing out that they couldn't be married because the priest blew up before he could say they were man and wife. But now Wolfman provides more evidence like how no paper work was filed and nobody signed anything (although don't you sign the papers before the ceremony?) Anyway, they're not married and probably never will be if the last twenty five years of reading comic books has taught me anything!
Tumblr media
Snicker!
Baby has an idea to use The Terraist's satellite as their new headquarters and the government is all, "Okay! But you have to work with us on a minimum number of yearly missions!" And Roy Harper is all, "That number is zero!" And the government is all, "Yes sir! What a deal! We will pay you a salary, give you the satellite, and get nothing in return! Let's shake on it!"
Tumblr media
Who the fuck is wearing The Flash's costume?! First appearance of New 52 Wally West?
The epilogue reveals Raven needs to rape the Titans so that they'll all give birth to Trigon's children. So it should be a fun few final issues before either this comic book was cancelled or I finally recovered my sanity and simply stopped buying it. New Titans #112 Rating: B. It was all kinds of stupid but I enjoyed making fun of it!

More Unpopular Smash Onions
I have a lot of Smash Onions and here are most of them in one post. Be warned it’s long and stupid
Bayonetta Should Not Have Been in Smash Ever
The whole point of Bayonetta is that she whips out these crazy combos and super strong witch tricks to defeat her opponents. The only problem is...barely anyone else can do that because they’re not supposed to because it’s Smash Bros and not Street Fighter. There was no way to nerf Bayonetta without ruining her, and there was no way to keep the Bayonetta feel and style without her dominating the game.
Cloud Should Not Have Been in Smash Ever
He was too fast, he was too strong, he had a projectile. Sakurai specifically said he knew Ike had exactly these stats when Ike was added to Brawl in 2008. He intentionally left them out so as to not let Ike become too strong. But years later, Cloud strutted into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS with these same attributes anyway. He’s a lot more tame now, but how many Peaches had to die?
The Zelda Characters Got the Short End of the Stick
A game with 30 years of history does not deserve to be represented by three Links, two Zeldas, and one Ganondorf. It’s clear that the development team was banking on the games sticking to its Ocarina formula, which is why they tried so hard to keep all the designs from one game and didn’t introduce anyone who wasn’t a Triforce bearer. By the time they finally stumbled on the idea of giving characters designs from different games, they had run out of space for any newcomers specific to particular games in the series, and the potential for new characters had run out.
I’m aware that Zelda isn’t as popular in Japan as it is in the United States; however, seeing how big Super Smash Bros. and its audience is, I think its representation could be a little better than that.
Zelda Got the Short End of the Stick
You mean to tell me it took 17 years for someone to look at that trainwreck of a moveset and finally do something about it? Y’all ugly.
There Doesn’t Need to be 15,897 Marths
If the devs over at Sora Ltd. played their cards right, our Fire Emblem lineup could have consisted of a balance of characters and assist trophies that could show off the most prominent aspects of the series. My idea is this:
Characters
Marth
Ike
Lyn
Robin
Assist Trophies
A Manakete (from any game)
A Pegasus Knight + Triangle Attack (any game but preferably the ones who made it famous—so Palla, Catria, and Est.)
A main villain (person, any game)
A main villain (monster, any game)
Ephraim?
Micaiah.
...and some cute lil spirits/stickers/trophies with some lore or references or something. If you ask me, we got the characters we got because of poor planning. I might not know the ins and outs of the process, but that’s what it looks like to me.
I Am Singling Out Corrin Specifically
This pick feels like an impulse because of the fact that FE14 was new, but besides that, I (a salty Peach main and Bandana Dee fan) first thought the character was busted. Never before had we a character with such ridiculous range—I thought Shulk’s energy sword Sunday was pushing it. It looks like Corrin set a precedent, though, because tall, adult characters who can reach across the entire stage seem to be the norm nowadays.
The Mario Characters are Out of Character
I think it’s telling when you can’t convey the character of Mario properly. Mario in Smash rather quickly moved away from his friendly everyman balancedness to a very aggressive, very angery Man who apparently just beats the living daylights out of people as the Smash Ultimate music blares in the background. Mario in his games is so much more friendly, eccentric, comical, fun. Smash Mario is way too serious; he doesn’t even smile in his renders anymore. I know, it’s a fighting game; you have to be serious to some extent. I just find this a little odd considering, um...
Peach was pretty similar when she first came to Melee. But when Brawl came around, her headbutt was replaced with hearts, her explosions with hearts, her diplomatic walk with a ditzy skip—it’s all incredibly suspicious. I talked about this before, but I think Smash makes Peach look dumb. I feel like it tries too hard to appeal to the girl who couldn’t pick any of the boy characters because they were icky so she picked the prettiest, girliest girl and that’s Peach. Her character feels like it’s making a mockery of her. (I mean, who remembers the tea time? I remember the tea time.) Nearly all of the nuance in Peach’s character is gone; I like the Toads and it feels like she’s commanding an army, but she herself with the rainbows and the hearts...I don’t know. It makes me. Uncomfortable. Peach has displayed far more competence before; she’s a very intelligent individual, but in Smash it’s not showing.
If I thought Peach was bad, imagine how I feel about Daisy! They barely changed a couple of animations and visuals but no attributes. It feels cheap and lazy and even though she’s an echo fighter, other “clones” had at least a little more thought put into them. And no “Hi, I’m Daisy”??? Preposterous. I think it goes to show that you really can’t make a clone of Peach because her moveset is too unique, and tinkering with it makes it fall apart. I think this was a bad call.
Bowser Jr. seems fine. He’s just a kid with some toys and it shows. Bowser...can at least walk straight, nowadays. But...
Luigi Baby I’m So Sorry That a Ugly Ass Bitch Would Even Do That
So when Smash 64 came out in 1999, Luigi had had his own voice for 3 years. Smash had decided to take Mario’s voice clips and pitch them up instead. This didn’t change until Brawl.
Luigi is Mario’s taller, slippery-er, eccentric younger brother, and Smash played the eccentric up to 11. (I mean, who remembers the Negative Zone? I remember the Negative Zone.) The hip bumps? And the weird dances? And the being able to fall over and be so round that he can just roll back up? I’ve never seen him do that anywhere but Smash. I don’t know who that is with the green hat in Smash. But it’s not Luigi.
The great thing is that he plays like Luigi! But he sure doesn’t act like it. And neither does Mario. And Mario and Luigi don’t play off each other at all, either. They’re so awkward to put together in this game; it’s like an attack on the sibling family unit.
We Don’t Stan Rosalina
We don’t stan her
“We Made Up Lore About EarthBound Hoping No One Would Notice Also We Really Like Pollyanna and the First Eight Melodies and We Exclusively Reference Mother 1 But We Still Won’t Put Ninten in This Game”
Ness is supposed to have defensive and support PSI because he has the highest physical offensive stats—and the lowest IQ—in EarthBound. He can’t use PK Starstorm, or PK Fire, or PK Thunder. He can use PSI Shield and Brainshock and Paralysis and um, PSI Rockin, and though I don’t mind using Ness and Lucas as they are now, I still can’t help but notice how inaccuracy-laden all the EarthBound references were, and that a moveset focused around trapping an opponent to go in for the beat down intrigues me.
Listen, no one else in this game has made-up lore about how their friends taught them certain moves after the end of their game, and how they channeled their big finisher into smaller bursts of energy while taking on the friend’s (much weaker!) signature move as their Final Smash. You could probably explain the magic Zelda uses as they come in crystals anyone could theoretically use, but the framing that they use for Ness and Lucas? It’s pretty silly.
Okay, about Ninten...he doesn’t have to be in Smash. But what’s the point of saying “Mother (Series)” and then making this weird conglomerate of ideas that doesn’t actually get the point across? All three games communicate very different ideas, but hardly any of what’s in Smash portrays any of it very well.
Where’s Bandana Dee
Where is he
Realistic Guns
Joker is about to enter this game with a literal fucking glock and I’m not okay
Final Smashes is the Same
It’s either a Mega Laser, a Giant Stage Hazard, a I’m Gonna Just Ram Into You Like Nobody’s Business, or a Barage of Attacks With One Final Hit. For all the crap I give Peach’s Final Smash, at least it’s different. Oh, there’s a new kind now: the We Stole Snake’s After We Thought He Was Never Coming Back And Oh God He’s Here. Oh No He’s Back. He’s Angry Oh N-
Kirby and Jigglypuff
They haven’t been great for years! I want them back to being good again.
Okay so Jigglypuff was OD’ing in Melee. But insta-death shield break just doesn’t tell me you care about them!
Speaking of Caring About Kirby
I see y’all only putting Kirby’s Adventure and Kirby Super Star content in your game. Look, whoever made Kirby 64 and friends disappeared the same year Sakurai left HAL Laboratory. The new Kirby games acknowledge all of Kirby’s history, and they take many cues from Smash. Smash is a big game, but the least it could do was reciprocate some of that.
The Music Selection is Underwhelming Me So Far
And it’s not the sheer number; I think that’s incredible. My problem is many of the songs are remixes with multiple versions. There are multiple versions of Light Plane from Pilotwings, multiple versions of Magicant, multiple Ballads of the Goddess, a billion Mario Main Themes. There are so many different musicians arranging for these games; are they all sitting there thinking “I’ll do you one better!!” making the same songs again? Some series have one song being remixed over and over while the rest of the soundtrack is just ripped from the original and chucked into the game. Other songs are just weak, which I expect, but they’re just so...mild.
The original music in Smash Ultimate I think is also pretty weak. It’s the same problem Brawl ran into and the only difference is the Ultimate themes are better orchestrated. The arrangement became stale to me and I think it’s because the game is so big that it couldn’t tie itself together as neatly as Smash 64 could (although only one, maybe two people worked on Smash 64’s music).
Stage Hazards
I don’t remember if it’s possible to turn them off but I am tired of the goddamn Flying Man.
So I think that’s about it. Thanks for reading and on the off chance that someone responds to it, you don’t have to go through the entire thing just to pick it apart bit by bit, I don’t want anyone to have to slog through that unless they want to, I guess. Happy New Year!
