Matisse

For Matisse Corvinius, Sovereign King of the Luceres Isles and Crown Prince of Rahli, death seemed to be the only constant in his life. Like a possessive lover it isolated him, taking away friends and family at every turn. each loss jolted his world and left him disoriented.

Yet death never took him. It stalked him, held him in its arms but never managed to steal him away. Matisse spent his childhood in near constant sickness. He had laid at death's doorstep delirious with fever more times than he could remember, had felt its suffocating grip when his lungs revolted against him. But he always survived when no one around him seemed to.

As he grew the sickness began to subside, death visited him less and less, and he began to feel invincible. If death refused to take him, then he would live and do so with reckless abandon. Adolescence was filled with cycles of indulging every hedonistic vice and being punished for it. The punishments never managed to teach him any lessons. Brushes with death hardly phased him anymore.

But death was still there for everyone else.

It was the death of a friend that finally shattered his world so completely that he was forced to rebuilt himself. A death not from illness or accident, but an unjust execution at the hands of the government he was to inherit.

Matisse left Rahli, the country he had called home since his mother's death, and returned to the Luceres Isles. Once sober he accepted his place as the reigning monarch and took on the responsibilities he had shunned. Death had seemed to shy away from that place. For the first time in his life Matisse felt as though the weight of all his anger and guilt and grief had lightened. He had returned home and it was healing.

It could have only ever lasted so long though, and he knew his time was running out. Claiming his title in Luceres put him in political contention with his father, and when disputes could no longer be settled through letters Matisse found himself on an airship back to Rahli.

From the moment of his return Matisse could feel death's ever lingering presence. This time it seemed determined to keep him.

Awen took a step back, her eyes tight again with suspicion. “The coast? Tell me what you mean.”

Confused and sensing he was losing her for some reason, he said. “Drumcondra and Bo are headed to Myerlin to start Bo’s training, they -”

He stopped himself before he continued because he could see the fear in her eyes. Something was definitely wrong here, but what could he have said? Some kind of passcode? Or had she….

Fighting a sigh he realized what was happening. 

“He didn’t tell you he was leaving without you.”

Just saying it seemed to injure the girl like a knife. “You’re lying. My grandfather wouldn’t leave me.”

Trying

“Why are you working for terrorists?” Hayes demanded of his mother. “Why are you trying to kill Bo? He’s been identified as the chosen one - the one who will bring peace to the world! Don’t you want that?”

His mother’s eyes were soft with sympathy, tears even misted across their blue surface. “You must see past their deceptions, my son. You are old enough to think for yourself.”

Stressed

Awen watched and listened with all of her interest and attention. She wasn’t worried about anyone on deck anymore - passengers or crewmen. Drumcondra smiled as he watched her tell his story, this had been his goal, to relieve her tension. It wasn’t good for the girl to be so constantly stressed out. He worried about how she would handle Elsava. She had been to cities like it before, they had stayed in the palaces of many a royal family. It wasn’t just the amount of people that worried him though, it was who. Soon he would have to tell her of the secrets he had kept from her. 

Intricate

Corduff made a noise of agreement and nodded along as well. “What about Awen?”

“High mastery of windcasting and firecasting, and a low mastery of watercasting and earthcasting. She’s a quick learner and knows her limits well, but she’s gone as far as she can with the basics. She’s ready to learn something a little more….intricate.”

“What were you thinking?”

“Lightningcasting.”

“Yet another reason you chose me,” Corduff smirked.

Komunikasi

Beberapa hari terakhir, diberikan pelajaran perihal komunikasi. Kondisi pandemi, seakan membuat kita sangat membutuhkan teknologi untuk menghubungkan kondisi antar manusia. Namun disisi lain, komunikasi dirasakan terbatas. Komunikasi jarak jauh dirasa belum membuat “legowo”. Ada hal-hal yang membuat kurang. Apalagi ketika hanya disampaikan via text, tanpa tambahan intonasi, jeda titik dan koma yang saking dikejar waktu untuk membalas pesan sehingga tidak jelas letaknya dimana, sehingga membuat penafsiran menjadi kian berbeda. Namun komunikasi secara langsung pun belum tentu akan “pasti” efektif. Hal diatas adalah perihal teknis dalam komunikasi. Sampainya tujuan dalam komunikasi tersebut itulaah yang sangat penting. Teringat sebuah pesan, “Apa yang berasal dari hati, sampainya akan pula ke hati.” Ini cara pertama, gunakan hati dalam setiap komunikasi kita. Setelah dari hati, komunikasi verbal kita akan kita keluarkan melalui ucapan kita. Perlu sekali bantuan dari Allah agar terus mengarahkan ucapan kita agar bisa sampai pada tujuan komunikasi yang sudah kita niatkan dalam hati kita. Diingatkan oleh seorang sahabat yang luar biasa, seorang mbak, seorang kawan berjuang akan satu doa yang luar biasa..

Antar-insan punya sama-sama tujuan dan niat yang baik namun tak sampai karena miskomunikasi yang dapat mengakibatkan mispersepsi. Atau bahkan tertutupi dari sifat dan cara oleh penyampai pesan sehingga yang ditangkap hanyalah sifat dan caranya bukan niatnya.

Open minded

How can we be sincere when we got rejected ? when we me made dua for something bu he gave us a test instead. How can we be sincere when we got rejected?

Along with a bunch of nonsense explanations. Even we have already strived to get someone attention, we have also spent money countlessly but we still got rejected. How can we be sincere when we got rejected? He/ She had been seeing us but they married someone else instead. So how can we contentful to accept it?

This is about sharh-sadr, Being open minded. First thing first the most important one is to be open minded with Allah decisions. Our understandings would decide our tolerance towards others. The more understanding, the more tolerant we could be.

Not how much problems we have. Some people face trivial problem as if it succofates them while others see it vice versa.why?. Because its not about the problem we face, its about sharh-sadr, open mindedness. Its not the problem is big, its us not being open minded.

so theres a dua we always make “Rabbish rahli sadri. O Allah expand my breast with assurance and then “Wayassirli amri” ease for me my task. So if we are assured our task would be easy. If we are being open minded, our lives would be simple. If we are being sincere our relationship would be harmonius. if we are being understanding, we would be tolerant towards our partner.

For as long as she could remember Serenity Resvelt had been an outsider. Exiled by her mother's Ilyic clan, they left her and her immediate family in Naelise in shame. A bloody revolution would tear through the country soon after, leaving lasting psychological scars.

When her father, the man who tainted her with unblessed blood, suddenly came back into her life he seemed a savior. Finally, she had a place in the world and as an heiress no less! He showered her family with gifts, a new home, and a stipend that would keep them out of poverty for the rest of their lives. To Charles Resvelt was a small price to pay to regain his first born child.

The first summer Serenity spent in her father's country, Rahli, the illusion was broken. That summer would instill her with deeply seated shame. She was the replacement for a lost son. Her magic, her gift from the gods tainted though it may be, had to be hidden at all costs. And if that weren't enough she was so distinctly foreign. Her accent marked her as someone lesser. Other children were quick to comment on how she couldn't manage to speak their shared language properly, how she sounded like she'd just crawled down from the mountains.

The following year she was supposed to permanently move to Rahli. It was that summer that would leave her with physical scars to remind her of how unwanted she was to everyone but her father. At the age of fourteen, she raised the price of her purchase, for she had realized that her father did not truly want her. He wanted what she could procure for him. She was a broodmare, raised to be wed and bred to bring sons to the family.

Serenity demanded two things: only to visit Rahli in the summers when schools were not in session, and a full education. He would have to do whatever necessary for her to attend the best private school in Naelise and once she was finished there she would go on to study at whatever university she desired.

Her terms were begrudgingly accepted.

Through extensive tutoring she would lose her accent. The revolution set her schooling behind by two years, but it did not matter to her. What mattered was that if she could not stand amongst peers she would rise above them. She would be richer than all of them thanks to her father, and she would be smarter too.

Eight years later Serenity is at the cusp of her social debut. Pulled out of university just weeks before her graduation, she considers the deal between herself and her father broken. She has no interest in playing social games and has little trust in the men who attempt to win her heart. Yet she finds herself integrating into an inner circle of friends, a social elite unto themselves. This could be the acceptance she's always craved, but fear lingers. Walls can only soften so much before one risks exposing too much of themselves. And for Serenity the exposure of her biggest secret would mean execution.
