Queen of Tears (2024)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not an average love story. This is a tearjerker or one might say an exquisite premium cliche series with a beautiful or maybe painful portrayal of romance shared between a married couple?
It’s been quite sometime since I’ve been so thoroughly engrossed in a series and got drawn with a whirlwind of excitement and sadness. I found myself deeply resonating with the characters’ struggles and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. The way Kim Soohyun and Kim Jiwon perfectly embodied the character of Baek Hyunwoo and Hong Haein just left me in awe. They seamlessly blended into their roles as they were tailor-made for it. I can firmly say their acting prowess was cited as the only major reason for watching this series.
I'm genuinely grateful to whoever conceived the idea of bringing them together. Not to say, their unrivaled and uncanny chemistry conveys a lasting impact and indeed leaves us yearning for more moments shared on screen. Their incredible dynamic, the way they execute the range of emotions from anger, longing, love, happy and sorrow really create an irresistible allure. The way Kim Jiwon plays the role of emotional enigma of Hong Haein and the way Kim Soohyun captivates with myriad of nuanced expressions of Baek Hyunwoo are truly breathtaking. It makes me impossible to imagine Hong Haein and Baek Hyunwoo other than Kim Jiwon and Kim Soohyun.
Their emotions did not even wane a bit despite its messy plot and a little vapid storyline in the second half. One drawback besides its cliche moments, there is actually an abundance of side characters story where it leads to so many things in the story to unfold and that is somehow not so necessary? These subplots can sometimes lead to several episodes where it can be bit draggy and we could feel there is lacking in the screentime of Haein and Hyunwoo. How I wish they would focus more on side stories of these two main characters instead of side characters stories. Amidst these shortcomings, I am truly grateful again for Soohyun and Jiwon for saving the plot and dragging the collar of this series by keeping our immersion into the storyline.
I love how there are a lot of foreshadowing scenes woven into the narrative.
I love how they always welcome us with heart-wrenching and heartwarming hugs.
I love how they depict familial love.
I love how they suppress the very emotions to fuel this series.
Alongside these, there are also parts where some viewers may find certain moments in the cinematography to be overly prolonged, such as extended close-ups of character’s faces. However, I believe these shots essentially depict how much time the characters have wasted for not looking at their partner, so they become lost by the track of time and engrossed in their own thoughts or emotions. We actually could witness their love begins to rekindle and there’s a shift in how the characters gaze and linger at each other.
The beauty of their acting synergies carries such sincerity that I found myself irresistibly drawn in, and all I could utter was,
"Can love truly be this beautiful?”
“Can one truly love someone in such a way?”
Truly, I'm at a loss for words when it comes to expanding upon the essence of true love or perhaps even articulating the depths of emotions where one would willingly sacrifice everything when the life of the person they love was on the line. But their acting prowess and stellar performance keeps on drawing me into the moment and I could truly feel love is in the air.
This is undoubtedly an ode to the tapestry of life, love and loss.
This series will be etched into my heart forever.
Rest in love, Hyunwoo and Haein.
Thank you, Hong Haein.
Thank you, Baek Hyunwoo.
Thank you, Queen of Tears.
What a series.

Queen of Tears: KieLo Discussion Post
Tumblr media
‼️ Potential Spoilers Below ‼️
Anyone who is watching the show is welcome to join in the discussion🫰🏼
1. Why is Kwan always the annoying little brother 😂 I need to see this man play main love interest or second lead that works his butt off to get the girl.
2. Them having all the son in laws prepare the memorial food was wild...but also amusing. His "What a waste of talent." 😅
3. That blue suit of hers is everything.
I am dying over the hunting episode. Her fan girling over her own husband. Him being afraid to go upstairs. Two idiots.
Colorblind Daddy is even more sinister in this 👀 the dog scene had me so nervous.
NOOO IT WAS THEIR BABY 😭
Nvm her brother also died?
I am caught up 🧍🏻‍♀️
Just kidding I forgot to post this so Pt. 2:
Her brother AND her baby died, I think. I really truly do not like her mom. I hate the whole boy mom culture.
Omg. Auntie found out. BOYYY. The auntie isn’t going to make it, she's going to slip up.
I cannot stop thinking about how much I love Haein's makeup, it's so minimal in this way that gives off royalty vibes. All the props to the makeup artist and stylists.
DUDE (gn) every time they show us another person who is in on the plot I gasp. My brain has been so fuzzy from the new meds that I am not figuring things out before like I usually do. and I am kinda enjoying it tbh.
Ok so I do have a theory though, stepmom is bad. Colorblind daddy is her child she gave up for adoption...the apple does not fall from in fiction stories typically.

We realized that some things won't happen even if we try hard. But even if that's the case, we learned that it's okay. We live every day to the fullest. We can sometimes stop and appreciate the scenery. Then time will gradually begin to flow more quickly. Time will slip away, and we won't be able to do anything about it. That's how we'll spend every day of our lives. We'll enjoy all the happiness that life grants us. One day... when only one of us is left. The other one can come meet them. Then it won't be scary at all. Because we'll be together.

the look in hae in's eyes when hyun woo comes to help her with the copy machine, the confusion mixed with intrigue and admiration,
the look in hae in's eyes when she sees hyun woo at the bus stand and then in the bus from her car during that one epilogue, the sheer adoration and love reflected in them, the textbook epitome of "heart eyes",
the look in hae in's eyes every time hyun woo mentions how he has 36 cows and a lot of land and a brand new apartment and just enough to provide for her so that she never has to work again in her life, the disbelief that he'd think she is that dependent, the disbelief that a person could readily love another person so grandly,
the look in hae in's eyes when hyun woo moves to the nursery after the miscarriage, the hurt fighting to burst through as tears and the anger stuck in her throat as she thinks that he blames her for the miscarriage, the break in her heart and the first flash of hopelessness between their breaths,
the look in hae in's eyes every time they pass each other at the department store, the way she looks at hyun woo like she never wants to look away, the yearning in her eyes that make her fingers twinge with the dire need to reach out to him,
the look in hae in's eyes when she discovers the divorce papers, the raw pain that wants to be comforted by hyun woo, the pang of betrayal that would go away if he just says that she is mistaken, the gasps that her heart takes because it can't just beat anymore after discovering that the one person she trusted and loved to no bounds could do this to her, but also the slight understanding that hyun woo has also been suffering from the countless instances of miscommunication between them and that he doesn't deserve to be stuck in such a relationship
the look in hae in's eyes when she sees hyun woo at the prison in episode 15, the familiarity and the comfort of home, the difficulty in breathing from seeing the love of her life and being unaware of it, the torment from hurting him although she doesn't understand it,
the look in hae in's eyes when in the last episode, she comes to hyun woo as his beautiful angel to take him to their forever happiness, the knowing that they have made it, that they deserve each other despite all obstructions, that not even death could do them apart, the warmth of falling asleep on a hard day's night, the relief of drinking water in the middle of the night, the contentment of being able to love and being able to be loved in peace at last.

— Stay alert at my funeral. Everyone who disliked me will attend. Hyeon-ju, Jeong-mi, Eun-jin, and Ye-na. Listen carefully to what they say. — And? — Sue them all if they bad-mouth me. Sue them for defaming the dead. — Me? — Then, should I? I'll be in the coffin. — Come on. I don't think anyone would mourn. — So, you should.

"It must be him. He must be her divorce attorney. So? You don't know anything, do you? He's ... a terrifying man. He's just an attorney. There are many rumors about who he is. The youngest heir of a conglomerate family. A former soldier stationed abroad. Someone who came here on a spaceship. Other say he's a werewolf. His name is Vincenzo. And he is ... he is from the Mafia. The Mafia? You mean the mafia from that Mafia game? No the real mafia. And he's a consigliere. He's the boss." Song Joong Ki as "Attorney Vincenzo"

Okay babes, episode 8 is nothing short of exciting!
📍Hae-in choosing to divorce Hyun-woo so he'd finally be free from all the bullshit her family put him up with, and Hyun-woo deciding to stay at Queens so he could prove his innocence and protect Hae-in. I feel sad that they actually divorced but again, it was necessary for them to "part ways" so they'd find their way back into each other, and I think the next episode will be about them slowly rekindling their romance and hopefully healing from the past. I am anticipating a more beautiful wedding than their first one.
📍Don't get me wrong, I still hate Eun-seong but now I'm becoming more and more interested in his backstory, so this bitch still has some ✨humanity✨ in him, judging from the way he reacted when he found out about Hae-in's illness. Him saving Hae-in from the dog attack when they were kids answered the question why he hates dogs. He's still trash, however I do have a feeling that he will have some character redemption somewhere and will basically help Hae-in find a cure, but we'll never know for sure.
📍Hong Man-dae is the biggest fucking idiot among the Hong family, I'm not saying he deserves what happened to him, I'm saying that he needs to learn the hard way and be slapped with the truth so hard that I want him to come down to his knees and beg his children for forgiveness. As much as I feel sorry for him, he was a terrible father to all of them when they got older...and trusting a fucking shaman? Really?
📍Speaking of which, I am actually glad that the Hong family is now broke af. They need to be humbled big time, especially Hae-in's mom, that bitch is such a poor judge of character. I want her to feel embarrassed and terrible about herself for constantly looking down at Hyun-woo and his family, these are the same people who'd willingly save and help their asses even if it meant getting dragged into this shit hole they dug themselves. Also, I saw a clip of the nosy old ladies who were making fun of her at the salon, I say...DESERVE! I hope she starts to change because honestly, I'm so fed up with her and her bullshit.
📍Soo-cheol maybe immature, but I have to admit that he's a good father. He just wanted his son to experience everything he never did, idk what Da-hye was up to. Maybe it was part of their plans? Perhaps she foresaw how messy it's going to be that's why she chose to run away, we'll never know for sure. I still have faith that she'll choose to do what's right for the sake of her son, after all, Soo-cheol treated her and their baby well.
📍Shout out to Song Joong-ki for his cameo. Hiring Vincenzo as a divorce lawyer is such a Hae-in move 😂
