pspsps manifesting more darius blight au thoughts? they may be rent free but i would pay 👀👀👀

*cracks knuckles* alright here we go:

-alador and darius can't decide if they should both just be called "dad" or if one should be "dad" and the other should be something like "papa". but the kids come to an unspoken consensus that they are both generally called "dad" but if it's a situation where it might be ambiguous, they are "aladad" and "dadrius"

-alador finds this funny and delightful. darius finds it a little bit endearing but very cheesy/lame, but he doesn't do anything to discourage it

-edric and hunter are both extremely prone to infodumping and their interests have a good bit of overlap, so they infodump to each other a lot. this can go on for hours on end.

-alador is the type of person to bond with people a lot via shared interests. and he worries that with himself, darius, and amity all being into abominations, the other three kids might feel left out. so he tries to learn a little bit about edric, emira, and hunter's interests.

-with hunter and edric, he just has to bring the subject up (and periodically encourage them that no, he's not bothered by how much they're talking and would love to hear more), and they'll go from there. alador knows he probably COULD let himself space out and just nod along, but he's determined to actually pay attention and learn about what his kids like, leading to him sometimes straightup taking notes and asking questions to keep himself engaged.

-emira's more reserved about her interests, you can't just get her to go on a full spiel like you can with her brothers. alador kinda has to study up on the stuff she likes beforehand so he can have a full two-sided conversation with her

-basically he took amity's "you never talk to us!" criticism to heart and makes sure to talk to all of them. he also makes an effort to ask them about how their day was and how they're feeling, but talking about interests is way more in his wheelhouse

-(absolutely no one in this whole family is neurotypical)

-darius, despite pretending otherwise, is generally the one to go to to talk about personal issues. he provides good emotional support and also will absolutely not hesitate to join his kids in shit-talking a high-schooler he's never met

-he's also the better one to go to for advice. except he's like, 95% really good advice and 5% the worst advice you have ever heard in your life. no in-betweens. (alador has seldom made a good decision in his life, so usually the only useful advice from him is what NOT to do)

-i already headcanon that in canon, (when she doesn't just use a concealment stone) emira makes edric or amity braid her hair for her. she soon starts going to the rest of her family for help with her hair too.

-hunter picks up this skill surprisingly fast; turns out the emperor's coven has given him boyscout level skills with braiding and knotwork

-she's only asked alador for help a couple times because, as much as he tries, he is just awful at it. and he'll consider a sloppy braid to be good enough because it serves the basic purpose of keeping the hair out of her eyes. also his hands are covered in something gross like 90% of the time.

-darius is the best at it but she only goes to him on special occasions because she'll ask for a single simple braid that should only take a couple minutes. and come out over half an hour later with a cramped neck, looking like an elven princess. (callout post to my aunt who used to do this exact thing to me back when my hair was super long, lol)

-darius insists that amity inherited the purple hair from him, despite them not being genetically related and purple not being either of their natural hair colour

-hunter kinda studies all the tracks but has taken a particular interest in potions. he and edric visit eda together for potions lessons and have a pretty fun time

-sometimes (but not every time) emira will tag along. sometimes just because she wants to hang out/feel included (especially if amity is ALSO going to the owl house to visit luz), but sometimes because whatever potion they're learning will have use in her healing magic

-once every month or so, alador and darius will get into a witch's duel. not in an unhealthy spouses getting angry and fighting way. they just genuinely wanna know who would win. it keeps happening because whoever loses will insist it was a fluke and demand they schedule a rematch. they've both won about an equal number of times. the kids bring popcorn. it's pretty fun for everyone involved.

-amity wants to try to join in and insists she could take either of them in a fight. but they refuse to fight a child. she is irritated by this and is like, "father, i crave violence" but they won't budge

-though if she sees either of them use a particularly cool move, she will write it down and get them to teach it to her later, which they always gladly do

-amity and hunter had similar duels til their dads found out and put a stop to it (amity had a slight winning streak going)

-hunter looks LESS sickly now that he's under the care of decent adults but he's still kinda Like That. he makes emira's older sister instincts flare up so bad and she has to repeatedly remind herself that she's not solely responsible for her siblings' wellbeing

-darius is the only one here who understands a healthy sleep schedule (i mean, he was often overworked as a covenhead but he at least TRIED to get enough sleep every night). he's pretty much enstated an unofficial bedtime for everyone else in the house, in which he scolds everyone to go to sleep before he himself goes to bed.

-hunter's got a lot of the same human food limitations as luz but to a much less severe degree, so amity has him be kind of a guinea pig for the things she bakes for luz (something that would make luz seriously ill would just give hunter a slight stomach ache). edric insists on also getting a sample because, like luz, he can't have dairy (it's a flimsy excuse). emira insists on also getting a sample because it's not fair that they get some and she doesn't. amity's not even that good of a baker yet but they're teenagers and free dessert is free dessert

-even though she doesn't play any sports anymore, amity kinda likes watching watching them (she knows the most about grudgeby and brawls but can get into pretty much anything). hunter starts off watching pro flyer derby to learn techniques but ends up also genuinely enjoying watching various sports. he and amity watch professional sportsball together and get SUPER hyped. like. jumping and shouting like a dad on superbowl sunday type of hyped. it's even worse if they're rooting for opposite teams.

listen i like how its basically such a sandbox for lore tbh bc theres not a huge amount of things about the races specifically and u can just headcanon urself to death with it and its funnn to do that bc its so easy to integrate whatever u want into the existing lore anyway (which!! i like the existing ancient lore and i wish it was a bit more developed so we had some more to go on!)

also as far as vanilla races go florans are my forever Fav and i wish their connections to agarans was more developed in-game. i mean i just got done saying i like the minimal-lore sandboxiness of it, but certain things could use a little more fleshing out tbh theres like NOTHING to even go on with agarans

which is a shame bc theyd be very cute as a fully fleshed out race whichhhh gives me another unfortunate mod idea honestly so thanks for sending this ask and letting me just stream-of-conscious abt my silly little spacey game

i also recently got one of my friendssss into playing it and im in the midst of juggling modding with figuring out ways to play together with different mod lists and so on LOL

im also still developing an update to my moth mod thatll include a bunch of new wings im excited about. theres a set of them i call "referential" because theyre references to other media (mostly pokemon wings)

i wanna also mention, i love the variety and effort and love the modding community puts into the game as well?? theres so MANY different mods, and i especially love peoples custom races, so many of them are such creative concepts id never seen before

idk i just love the modding community's creativity u can find a lot of rly neat concepts and artwork in some of the bigger mods!

1. He needs to practice his spellcasting powers, tbh. Basically, he’s going to learn how to do it, though the teacher may vary. Also, he could learn others’ moves, which could be interesting. 2. His new super strength manifesting sounds funny as fuck. Boy can break rocks, tear down cliffs, and move trees all on accident if he eats well- jdfkdslfj. can’t believe with this and the first plot combined Villager is basically a pokemon now. 3. At some point this boy is gonna flirt blatantly again, it’s been a while- it’s all been super subtle. But, him using the disney princess charm would be funny even platonically. He just owns those femme vibes when he’s in the mood. 4. as a muse, he also needs to catch up in confidence, typically. it’s wibbly wobbly, but he’s even shyer than I am and holds back a shit ton. also, there’s always stuff he’s not telling people, monologue wise. Mayhaps somebody will confront him sometime. 5. Always trans/LGBT+ stuff. confiding in each other for sure. maybe someday he’ll be Out, we’ll just have to see, but he’d have to be semi-stealth to match IRL. 6. Being chronically ill, he could always use a little care. any kind of help is good help for him, even if he’s not the type to ask. 7. him nerding out. video games come to mind, but he’ll infodump about food, biology, other stuff. 8. seems like the older he gets, the more he has a propensity to love gossip, lmao. This hasn’t happened since he was 9, but of course he’s much........Much more sophisticated now than back then. 9. When it comes down to it though, his true self has a hero complex- so him helping others would be very casually common, just haven’t come up with much lately. 10. Threads with the younger verse always sound fun as hell; whether it’s in the Actual Past, like pre-established, or his younger self running around among his present version due to the power of smash. While there’s some similarities, he’s like an entirely different little person... 11. 1000 self indulgent points go to putting him in a Hot Spring, anytime. that’s probably one of his happiest moments.

Pit

1. My muse’s wings are actually in recovery; so writing him flying someday would be a treat. 2. similar story for his ability to read- he originally curses his lacking of it as a death regret, so he did resolve to learn post game. Of course, he’s never going to stop making the joke though, especially since he has ADHD and tends to skim through and make mistakes. 3. This iteration is Actual Cupid baked in so.....could do stuff with that. Sounds like yet another funny meta thing if it has to do with shipping. Otherwise....that greek god vibe. 4. His close friendship with Felix, Samus, and Shulk is defo worth exploring. 5. I would definitely not mind, in some way, giving him his ‘machine gun robot girlfriend’, because that line is funny as fuck and i will applaud the good taste there. 6. I write his goofy side so often, but he is actually pretty serious in game. A capable captain indeed...

Robin (male)

1. totally cannot wait to make Chrobin canon on the blog, once we get the voice lines and we know how they work canonically. We only have a single special attack line to go off of, and those are usually the cheesy lines anyways, unlike tap and confession lines. So, definitely up for that shit and adjacent threads starting next week. 2. He needs more friends, lol. Poor dude self isolates/self ostracizes himself-- 3. I also haven’t gotten much into the bookworm aspect. 4. Robin would well adjust to modern commodities and concepts- but the reaction would still be funny. I just love Robin’s reactions in general, my muse is just so easily surprised- 5. it seems that Robin is taking a real interest in cooking lately; it’s an immensely helpful life skill, and especially post-war he has the time and energy to actually practice it immaculately. Whether for friends, or because of his crush on Felix, who has a special interest in food.

Izuku Midoriya (Deku) is autistic - HC

Hi hi ~ so I am autistic and I strongly headcanon most of BNHA's characters as neurodiverse (and gay but that’s another story). I think that Deku is definitely autistic and here are the main reasons why. For this “analysis” I’ve used both the anime (until s4 which is currently airing) and bits of the manga.

(I’ve had comments on my previous autistic headcanons pointing out that I was projecting myself onto the characters and YES I am very much doing this. No but seriously, I am writing about why I think certain characters have the same neurodivergence as me so yes of course I’m going to use my own life as a reference and as a material to explain why I think the way I do. If it bothers you it’s fine but don’t spread negativity is all I ask for.)

All autistics are welcomed to add to this post btw I’d love to have more perspectives <3

1. Stimming

I feel like this one is extremely obvious so I'll start with it: Deku is one stimmy boi omg. Just look at the way he swings on his chair before watching that one All Might video:

“Stimming” also known as “self regulatory behaviour” is basically the repetition of movements, sounds, visual stimulation. It’s a way for autistic people to calm and reassure themselves, concentrate and express their feelings.

I’m also putting his mumbling in here because it’s very common for autistics to talk to themselves, it’s a form of vocal stimming:

2. Special interest

"special interest" is a term used by autistic people to refer to the topics that interest them. When we're invested in something it's not just a hobby. For us it becomes an obsession, we think about it 24/7 thus why we have a word for it. A special interest is not only an obsession, it's a safe place, an escape route if the reality becomes overwhelming, something that gives us a joy and fulfilment.

All Might and generally Heroes are Deku's special interest. He spent years to research and gather all informations in books. He's so obsessed he goes back into 'fanboy mode' super fast and forgets the time and place at times. He knows everything by heart AND well enough to use it directly in battles.

Also like his mumbling could be due to him being in hyperfocus: an intense form of mental concentration that focuses consciousness on a subject, topic, or task. Hyperfocusing on special interests is something quite common for autistics. He’s so focused that he forgets that it's not really “appropriate” (by society’s standards) to do that when other people are around.

AND he does that quite a bit huh.

3. Blunt, honest and infodumping

Deku is very honest and isn't afraid of being vulnerable. This is something I tend to observe with the autistic community because we simply don't see why some things are considered shameful or embarrassing. We say what we think and we don't see the wrong in that.

He has a tendency to infodump: Infodumping is the practice, common amongst autistic people, of giving intricately detailed summaries of their topic of interest in single heaps. This can occur in conversation both online and offline. "Speaking in paragraphs" is another way to describe this. It happens multiple times in the manga but this one is my favorite example:

First of all, he was SO stressed at the beginning of the interview. Again, this is interesting in itself because Deku is not shy, he’s usually more on the spontaneous side. It reminds me of when he had to be funny with Sir Nighteye to gain his approval because he was surprisingly very stiff. This makes me think that maybe he feels uncomfortable in any social situation he’s not already familiar with. That’s... Very relatable as an autistic person because most of us also have social anxiety.

Anyway, about the infodumping. This example perfectly shows the switch that occurs in his behaviour before and after a special interest is brought up. When being asked about himself he doesn’t know what to say at all but he gets loud the moment he’s asked about All Might and start literally speaking in paragraphs. When can clearly see that he’s not stiff anymore. Talking about All Might was both a relief and something that got him suddenly excited.

4. Bullied

I find it so interesting that the series begins with Deku's perspective and within the first pages we are already introduced to the concept of inequality in this world. People are not born equal. Deku learns it very early at age 4 because he's quirkless and I can't help but draw a parallel with neurodiversity.

He's bullied for being different, for not having a capacity that others have, for not meeting expectations.... This reminds me of almost every autistic person ever unless they become very good at masking (hiding autistic traits) very fast. Also he points out a few times that he’s probably not only bullied for not having a quirk. This makes me think that even if he had one he would have been ostracised anyway. Maybe being quirkless drew attention on him but he was different from the start. As an autistic person I relate so much to this and I think the discrimination he faces is very relatable to a lot of neurodiverse folks. This is my interpretation of this aspect of Deku.

5. Strong sense of justice

No I'm not saying that us autistics are better people BUT I think we have a strong sense of justice that we aren't afraid to show no matter the circumstances. A lot of people don't express when the feel like something is unfair mostly because of social rules but because we're quite blind to these we often blur out things without even thinking or considering time and place. I think we see that in Deku's childhood especially when he stands up for his beliefs while being quirkless and powerless.

6. He comes up with unique ways

Something very interesting with deku is how he always manage to come up with a unique plan. I think this is something most autistic people relate with because we often perceive things a bit differently than most and as a result we have unique ways to achieve our goals.

Ok and that’s all for me ~

Honestly there is not one single moment of him that makes me think he’s not on the autism spectrum lol. I could understand people disagreeing with other headcanons but this one?

I’ve seen posts talking about hyper empathy as an autistic trait Deku has and I didn’t put it in here because I don’t feel knowledgeable enough on the subject to touch it. That being said I think it’s a very interesting point to make!

AW HECK YEAH HERE WE GO

Why I like them-

Because she’s adorable!! And also is just a really well-written character! She loves the city and wants to help people but she’s also Ten Years Old and gets frustrated when she doesn’t get to live her life! Also I relate to her a lot lol... so many people in the show are absolutely neurodivergent, and the whole show is basically just “a superhero whose gimmick is infodumping about her hyperfixation on words”

Why I don’t-

I’ll be honest I don’t think there’s a single thing about Becky I dislike. I mean sure she has times where she’s selfish or shortsighted but these all make for great character moments and are completely understandable for a kid in her position.

Favorite episode (scene if movie)-

Oh boy this is hard lol... I’m always a sucker for the scene in rise of miss power right after she drops sally back off at home 🥺 that legit made me cry. The subtle validation her mom gave to Becky by comparing her to Wordgirl, even if she didn’t know exactly what she was doing... it’s just so sweet. And don’t even get me STARTED on bunny lovers!! Outside of specials though, I think my favorite Becky episode is “the straw that broke Two-Brains’ back”! We really get to see her frustration about always being relied upon. Also we know from kid math’s episode that she usually just pretends to lose in the first half of most episodes to build tension, but I genuinely believe she was trying the best she could to stop Two-Brains cause she was just so angry!

Favorite season/movie-

It’s such an episodic show, I don’t think there’s one season that can be my favorite. I will say that I think they absolutely perfected her personality a few seasons in.

Favorite line-

TOO MANY MAN! But I have to say I’m partial to “YOU’RE about to be incarcerated :D!”

Favorite outfit-

Might seem a little basic, but I honestly really just like the Wordgirl outfit! A lot of the other ones she wears are just goofy lol. But the wg color scheme is super nice and it being a simple one-piece is just really cute ngl. Also I love the headcanon (supported by ROMP) that Huggy made it and that’s adorable.

OTP-

Oh no I can’t choose! I have been focusing a lot on Becktoria lately, but Vibecky has been something I latched onto in like episode 5. But also I just,, really like Scecky for some reason? Like their whole dynamic is super interesting. She had a crush on him when his entire goal was to basically ruin her career, and she kinda lost it right before he learned her secret and gave that up. (And I headcanon thats when he gets a crush on her) so them getting together any time after that is really sweet to me

Brotp-

Oh her and TJ for sure!! They have the perfect sibling interaction and bicker a lot but it’s so obvious that they do really care about each other! Oh but also her and Bob.. monkey dad. How can you not love that. But ALSO Narrator! His inclusion on its own is just super hilarious but their interactions are adorable! But ALSO ALSO her and BUTCHER’S FRIENDSHIP IS SUPER UNDERRATED!! I really like that he usually comes up when she’s having family issues and is always super kind and understanding when she vents to him about them!

Headcanon-

I think she’s Nonbinary and Bi! But aside from lgbt hcs, I think she started being a hero when she was around 8 years old. And also I think she was SUPER excited when she found out she had a younger brother! She absolutely was the one who taught TJ to read and speak (idk how good at it she was she was still very very young and probably had a short temper lol) I also think she has like a group at school where mostly kids with disorders like dyslexia can come to her so she can either help or read to them. Also On more of a serious note, I feel like she had a point where she was really suspicious about her birth parents. Of course the Botsfords are her real family, but she would absolutely feel a little insecure about not knowing how much her bio family cared about her. The fact that they let a baby wander off on its own long enough to get off the planet is. Not that good a sign.

Unpopular Opinion-

There needs to be way more content of her, Scoops, and Violet just hanging out! I’m a sucker for friend group shenanigans and I adore their little interactions. High five sandwich is like one of the best episodes just cause they goof around

A wish-

That we get a reboot someday 😔 I know it’s unnecessary and the show ran for a really long time but I need more daughter. But in universe, a way for Steven to directly communicate with her while not being affected by Squeaky! She misses him so much and deserves more time with him...

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen-

Any scenario of her losing touch with the villains or her friends as she gets older makes me genuinely distressed. They belong together.

@walkinredinstead April challenge day 6: autistic characters

So as many of my followers are probably aware, I’m a maladaptive dayreamer. I have whole worlds inside my head filled with characters I know in great depth who mean a lot to me. I think this is connected to my autism, but I don’t really want to go into much detail about that here. Anyway, I’ve been this way all my life as far as I can remember.

I couldn’t imagine someone like me as a main character in my own mind. And then I started realising I’d created many autistic characters without realising it, because they were main characters and/or didn’t fit into stereotypes.

So due to the freedom I’ve found in my daydreams, today I want to talk about a couple of my autistic daydream characters. For a while now, I’ve been focusing on a world which is sort a pseudo-medieval fantasy type thing with some Victorian influences and some other stuff. Basically it’s not set in any specific real world time period, so it can be as anachronistic and mismatched as I want lol. And there’s magic and ghosts and vampires and werewolves and stuff like that, because that stuff’s great and fun.

The main characters have basically rebelled against some of their society’s rules, which are oppressive in various ways, and long story short they’re kind of leading a revolution. Two of these characters are the prince and princess, who found it hard to fit the roles assigned to them. They are twins, and they are both autistic, although in their land there is no name for that aside from some derogatory terms I don’t think we need to go through.

The prince, Coral, was completely nonverbal until he was 13. He still goes nonverbal when he gets overloaded, or overwhelmed by his comorbid anxiety. When it comes to affective empathy, he’s hyperempathetic, but he has trouble understanding body language, metaphors and sarcasm. He is hypersensitive to sound, and enjoys tight hugs. He also likes rocking back and forth, but his parents taught him that was bad, so he took to pacing instead, disguising it as taking long walks. On those walks, he used to indulge in his longstanding special interest in plants of all kinds. This has in turn led to an interest in magic potions and particularly healing. He was expected to become king, but didn’t know how to handle the duties and never felt like he could lead. He is also gay (which is illegal in their land) and has a boyfriend who’s kind of a rogue type outlaw guy called Jay.

The princess, Vivian, is less visibly autistic than her brother. Whereas he was assumed to be incompetent and have nothing important to say for much of his life, she was expected to sort of “make up for him” and be hyper competent. She used to rebel in small ways like starting arguments with potential suitors, but ultimately kept up the act, to the point where even Coral thought she was “the smart one” and knew exactly what she was doing. This need to overcompensate was part of what lead to a special interest in world politics. She read many volumes and studied the situations in other lands as well as her own. However, when it came to making a difference through the established system, she found that her position meant nothing, and as a woman she had very little power.

In this, she found common ground with another land’s princess, Eleanor, who had an arranged marriage with her brother, but who she is now dating. They started doing magic together in a sort of Willow and Tara from Buffy type way (I also headcanon both of them as autistic btw), and this also became a special interest. At one point, it actually became an addiction (a bit like Willow, but without the actually abusive behaviour). It was a way of dealing with her comorbid depression. She also likes flapping her hands, but like her brother, was discouraged from stimming, so also chose a more discreet way, and started fidgeting with her hands instead. She is sensitive to touch, but likes holding hands with Eleanor, or Ellie as she calls her, and playing with her fingers. She is literal-minded like her brother, and sometimes says insensitive things without realising it, but her friends, brother and girlfriend try to let her know without judging.

So I guess I just did an infodump on my own daydreams. Oh well.
