Madhubala (Mughal-e-Azam, Barsaat Ki Raat, Mr. & Mrs. '55)—The Venus of India; heart-throb of all who saw her; responsible for the sexual awakening of every single desi lesbian I know (including me!) And my god, she is breathtakingly beautiful. Look at the subtle grace with which she moves, and that smile - the kind of radiant smile that can make you laugh with sheer delight, or cry because of its hidden pain. Those wild curls! That Cupid's bow! The way she tilts back her head and smiles at you with mischief dancing in her eyes! She has a way of looking at the camera that makes you feel she's sharing a private joke just with you; it's something about that quizzical twist of the lips and eyebrows. As an actress, she is inimitable; she seems to effortlessly inhabit roles ranging from a heart-broken courtesan to a laughter-loving socialite. Fun fact : she's had quite the fan following in Greece! Stelios Kazantidis even wrote a song as a tribute to her.
Ingrid Bergman (Gaslight, Casablanca, Notorious)—Where do I even begin with Ingrid Bergman? I fell in love with her with her astounding performance in the 1956 version of Anastasia -- the best Anastasia movie in large part due to her wonderful and touching performance. She's got this amazing, fascinating intensity to her in whatever role she's in. She commits 100%, and she's got this light in whatever she's in that's stunning. She's utterly convincing no matter what she plays, from an amnesiac possible lost princess, from a nun, from a woman taking her revenge on the town that wronged her, to light romantic comedy. She's never missed in any role I've seen her in! Also she became quite the MILF.
This is round 5 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Madhubala:
Tumblr media
An icon of Bollywood, who was well known for her beauty and has continued to inspire performances and songs into the 21st century. She was at times described as "the number one beauty of the Indian screen" and "the biggest star in the world".
SHE IS EVERYTHING AHHH. JUST LOOK AT HER SMILE-
Tumblr media
She's been nicknamed the Marilyn Monroe of India and was one of the highest paid actresses in the Hindi film industry (the term Bollywood did not exist yet) during the 1950s. Also an extremely talented dancer and singer
Tumblr media
SHE'S JUST SO STUNNING, like seeing her eyes IMMEDIATELY CAPTIVATES YOU, THE DANCING, THE BEAUTY!!!!!!!!! She worked in Bollywood for over 20 years and passed away at a sad early age of 36, BUT THE IMPACT SHE HAD WAS UNMATCHED!!!!!
Tumblr media
That sassy sideways glance she does always has me WEAK AT THE KNEES. And when she's making silly faces at the camera to mimic someone ahhhh my gay little heart <3
Tumblr media
Ingrid Bergman:
Tumblr media
God, she's fantastic. She's both beautiful and a compelling actor who's more than capable of putting the whole movie on her shoulders if necessary. It's worth noting that while her beauty is conventional, she was seen as refreshingly "natural" with more eyebrows and less makeup than many other leading ladies of the time. She's well known for her role in Casablanca, but in Notorious, Spellbound, (both available on archive.org ) and Gaslight (1944) she shows how immensely capable she is.
Tumblr media
I mean...she's Ingrid Bergman. I feel like that should be enough, you know? She's physically beautiful (her eyes!) but watching her is like a transcendent experience. Her voice, her expressions... beautiful woman, beautiful actor.
I'm a gay man but even I understand her appeal. I'll watch any movie she shows up in. Gorgeous woman.
Just try and watch her movies without sighing wistfully, then get back to me!
Tumblr media
Choosing 1-3 movies where Bergman was at her hottest was agony because, of course, she was always at her hottest. Not just because she was beautiful but because she was absolutely willing to go up against the bs women in Hollywood were constantly dealing with. When exiled from Hollywood for having an affair with Roberto Rossellini, not only did she refuse to apologize at any point, but she went on to say that Hollywood's films had grown stagnant and boring to her. Though she said she appreciated her time working there, she wanted to try new, different techniques (hence starring in Italian neorealist films, working on stage, and acting under directors like Ingmar Bergman). She was not afraid to chase after her artistic ideals and go outside the box regardless of what society had to say about it. From her first movie to her last she killed it. There's so much more to say about Bergman's career and life, but I've already written five million words so I'll stop at that.
ion words so I'll stop at that.
Tumblr media
One of the most incredible actors I've ever seen on film. Her facial expressions are so intricate and poignant that I cannot look away. I'm either ace or straight, but damn she made me question that.
Tumblr media
SEVEN TIME OSCAR NOMINEE QUEEN. Girl also PULLED, having affairs with famously hot men Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck IN ADDITION to her three marriages...sexy
Tumblr media
She has a very natural beauty to her, and she's from Sweden!
She left Hollywood and only became more beautiful. You could drown in her eyes. She can look innocent AND like she's seen it all. She is effortlessly elegant. She's played Joan of Arc (automatically hot) AND was in the movie that coined gaslight as a term. And where would we be without that!
Tumblr media
She was known for being a breath of fresh air on the movie scene at the time with her windswept hair, dreamy smile and soulful eyes. I have loved her in every movie I have seen her in - she was just magnetic!
Where do I even start. There's a neighborly quality to this beautiful, talented actress that makes her hotness one of a kind and her looks impossible to forget
Tumblr media
With a career spanning five decades, Bergman is often regarded as one of the most influential screen figures in cinematic history. Known for her naturally luminous beauty, Bergman spoke five languages – Swedish, English, German, Italian and French – and acted in each.
She's hot, don't get me wrong, but I've always found her very approachable, like she could easily be a member of my friend group
Tumblr media
A lot of the time hotness in a movie is just about words and framing. "You're the most beautiful person here" [vaseline lens] well I sure hope so because that's who you cast. But when, in Casablanca, they call Ingrid Bergman the most beautiful woman in the world... they were not fucking lying. And such a dynamite actor too!! I'd only seen Casablanca up until last year, and there she's confined to love interest. But in Gaslight she was maybe one of the most incredible actors I've ever seen!!!! Goddddd shes so fucking hot and cool.

ROUND 4A, MATCH 1 OUT OF 2!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Includes the original 1950 animated film, the 2002 sequel Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, and the 2007 sequel Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Disney's Cinderella:
she is very iconic, she is super kind and has a beautiful dress
Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.
This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.
Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.
she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜
She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) No she is not the same as the original Cinderella of 1950. This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) Listen yes it's the same Cinderella from 1950 but she has an arc in this one! It's Disney's greatest film!!
Listen I love them both but the animated Cinderella definitly shine in every single movie she has. And she has 3.
Vote for Cinderella because she deserves it and is still underrated in the Disney Princesses Franchise when she survived so much (ab*se... Lady Tremaine still terrifies me and she doesn't even have magical powers except when she steals the magic wand in Cinderella 3) Also one vote for Cinderella is one jump outside the window Henri is ready to do. Yes it's real.
Disney animated the original fairytale but definitely made it more magical and less creepy (like the birds making the step sisters blind? It gave me nightmares for ages). If I think: which one will I want to rediscover multiple times? Disney's Cinderella. Plus Cinderella 3 is a masterpiece.
Mofurun as "Mofurella"
listen. they do an episode where they're all sucked into Cinderella and they make the trans teddy bear Cinderella. Incredible story writing, 10/10, no notes.
Mofurdella is even plot relevant, that episode is how they get the Rainbow Carriage for their group attack anyway MOFURDELLA FIRST CINDERELLA PRECURE EPISODE TO GET ONE MOFURILLION VOTES

Tell me about the red dress campaign!
I got into Anastasia in 2021 :( there's barely any fandom left and even those who write fanfiction for it don't even talk about it anymore!
Tell me everything!!!
okay so. to talk about the year two marketing campaign, we need to talk about year one first.
the year one campaign focused more on the ~journey~ aspect of the show. anya wears her iconic maroon traveling coat, facing away from the audience and generally faceless, very mysterious. who is she? where is she going? what is she looking for? it inspired questions actually relevant to the themes of the show. and, as good marketing does, it gives us just enough info to capture our attention while also leaving us wanting more.
youtube
this coat is what she wears on the posters, playbill covers, everywhere on the marquee. it's the same structure that carried onto every other production's marketing strategy. and it makes sense! because she's traveling! of course she wears a traveling coat. for her Journey.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
was it a perfect strategy? no. do i get chills every time i read "rumor, legend mystery" on the marquee over our beautiful broadhurst?? absolutely.
now. year two. derek leaves in april 2018, and in may they film a new ad with the current cast.
youtube
but the whole marketing strategy completely changes as well. it now consists of basically just the Red Dress™ and digitally airbrushed christy smirking at the camera and otherwise provides very little information about what the show is actually about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is an aside, but i feel like i should mention that when they shot and filmed this campaign, they styled christy's actual hair. she's not wearing a wig! slay!!!!! she went live that day and zadkins did a takeover on the anastasiabway account, i remember she looked absolutely stunning and was excited as she always is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but still. the success of your marketing strategy (or the whole show for that matter 💀) should not rest on this woman's shoulders, as lovely as she is.
so here's my beef with the Red Dress campaign: it's such a shallow interpretation of the show. even though the red dress is iconic and linda cho deserves the praise for it, i don't think it represents who anya is or what she's looking for at all. the stage version of anastasia isn't a rags to riches story, nor a princess story, not really. it's about a girl looking for who she was. home love family etc etc etc. the red dress represents a life she ultimately chose to abandon in the end! so by limiting the imagery to just this dress she wears only in the last few minutes of the show, casual audience members may interpret this show as Just Another Princess Story competing with frozen that had just opened literally across the street, and choose to not see it. which is exactly what happened.
@asecretshekept has written a lot about this and understands marketing more than i do, so feel free to browse her blog too for more detailed posts.
not to mention like,,,, the silly financial decisions behind this?? they spent so much money to replace the marquee and stage door with the faces of people who left the show like six months later?? and then they replaced the stage door AGAIN when cody arrived january 2019. so silly. they could've stuck with the generally faceless campaign of year one to avoid this issue, but. i'm not in charge.
but yeah. going from this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to this?????
Tumblr media Tumblr media
downgrade of the decade fr. booooo 1/5 stars (one star for christy) 👎

You mentioned Six Korea was a replica production, what exactly does that mean with reference to the other productions?
Hey! Yes, my apologies for not defining that! “Replica production” is basically used to describe any production using the same designs and choreography (usually in tandem with any directing/cut song/etc directions) as a prior or pre-existing production of that show. For example:
- if a Broadway show opens an associated national tour, that tour is almost always a replica of the Bway production
- sometimes we see revivals that are replicas of an earlier production (this usually happens because a production closed and then reopened because that initial production had gained significant interest since, like Beetlejuice, or because the original production is just too iconic to change, like A Chorus Line)
- international productions that keep the same base design/choreography/etc as original Bway/WE would be categorized as replica
Note that all replica productions aren’t exactly identical. There’s often some variance or changes. Sometimes that’s in materials, based on differing budgets and/or supply. @operafantomet does a fantastic job of cataloguing a lot of the changes in replica, semi-replica, and non-replica Phantom productions (here’s a post showing some of the variance in replica Star Princess bodices). Sometimes it’s in choreography or blocking, with some slight changes made to adapt a show to a different stage and all the changed technical aspects that exist there (different dimensions or set-ups). The musical Fun Home was built to be performed in-the-round, so when they switched to a national tour they had to re-block the production to work in typical proscenium theaters. Even Six has some of these changes - all current productions are technically replicas, but of course many of the productions use different materials and have some changed staging!
On the other hand, non-replica productions are new productions that don’t take heavily to the point of near-replication from prior productions, often with a different creative team. Nearly every revival is non-replica. Some international are as well; take this as an example of Anya’s red and gold dress from Anastasia as an example:
Tumblr media
Left is Veronica Stern, currently Anya in the replica 2nd US Tour. Right is Pia Piltz, recently Anya in the non-replica Finnish production. The Finnish designers did take some loose inspiration with the color scheme, updo, and silhouette, but it’s obviously not anywhere near identical, is designed by someone else, and is part of a non-replica production.
Or with regards to recent UK productions, the current Newsies production very notably doesn’t use the initial choreography/staging/design of the initial Bway/US Tours and would be referred to as non-replica as well (it’s adapted brilliantly actually, I’ll talk about that sometime).
You also may sometimes hear the term “semi-replica.” It’s not half as common and not really an official term in the same way that replica and non-replica are, but people sometimes use it to describe productions with both replica elements and entirely original elements. Phantom has had a few productions that people will sometimes describe as semi-replica; the pared-down production that opened on the West End post-lockdown would be one example (again, if anyone is interested in examples I’ll refer you to @operafantomet).
Hope that clears things up!

I so sick of tangled fans acting like Disney doesn't care about this movie or that it’s underrated!  It was everywhere when it came out, and Disney still strove it down our throats.  Why is it I have still seen more things that have Rapunzel on it than I do of Moana.  Despite the latter being the more popular of the two and being more iconic.  Why is it Tangled got a bathroom at Disney World and a TV show way before PATF got anything?   Just because it’s not as popular as frozen doesn't mean that Disney doesn't care about this movie.  It cares more about this movie than it does about the movies starring characters of color! Whether if their movies are popular or not
Another things fans lie about is that the movie wasn’t made for mainstream audiences.  That’s BS, that movie tried so hard to be marketable.  The Shrek like jokes, the sexist reason for changing the name, and the movie being super safe.  How can fans say this when Rapunzel wears that ugly bootleg barbie as Rapunzel dress though out the movie?  That was obviously created to sell to little girls!  Not to mention, this movie copy scenes and characters from other popular Disney films. Rapunzel is basically Ariel if she was bland, The boat scene is just kiss the girl if it was poorly written and the scene was boring. Also, the abusive relationship in the movie is ripped from HBOND if it was played off for laughs and the villain sucked. They even ripped off movies from other animation studios for this movie. Flynn is basically a DreamWorks character if they were poorly written. The horse is ripped from the El Dorado movie. The lost princess plot point is ripped from Barbie as Rapunzel and Anastasia. Hell, This movie even ripped off other Rapunzel adaptations! This was all an attempt to make tangled more appealing to the general audience! This movie had no risks and was super safe. I would make the argument that frozen was less safe and took a risk.  What’s more risky for Disney?  A movie about two sisters with a handsome prince as villain, or a creepy age gap romance movie with a sexist and ageist villain? It’s annoying how the tangled fans act like this when Disney gives them more content for this trash ass movie than any other good movie. And for what? This movie sucks!

rewatched Anastasia (1997) for the first time since i was 13 and here are my thoughts in no particular order
- the entire premise of this movie is objectively a mistake. there is a reason why Disney doesn’t generally use specific verifiable history as a premise for funny princess movies… Pochahontas is deeply uncomfortable and Bad in large part for the exact same reasons Anastasia is very, very funny
- the first 5 minutes of the movie had me cackling because the gma character was like “we were in imperialist russia!” in the most reverent tone, like we as the audience are gonna be like Yaaay imperialism :D
- this is maybe the most rotoscoped animated movie ever aside from ralph bakshi’s LOTR.
- there is a brief but notable rromani charicature in this movie that i completely forgot about
- they put St Basils Cathedral in St Petersburg for. Some reason. was the winter palace not iconic enough by itself? or did Bluth & co not trust the audience enough to know it’s in Russia without being reminded like that
- the conditions of post-revolution Russia are symbolically framed as being Bad by constantly showing us smokestacks in St Petersburgs’ skyline.
- a lot of the actual criticisms of socialism in this movie basically amount to “some bureaucracy mildly inconveniences our protagonists”. both examples early on being that Anastasia can’t leave the country because she doesn’t have a visa and that the protagonists’ fake train passes were written in the wrong color ink. thus most of the anticommunist propaganda is just aesthetics
- there is a hell dimension under the winter palace
- has some extremely strange shot framing and scene transitions, probably due to the overreliance on rotoscoping.
- every song in this movie sucks and is completely unmemorable, to the point that i only remembered the villain song even being in this movie

LET'S TALK ABOUT ARIEL! 😃🧜🏿‍♀️
Let me just post this real quick, because waking and already having to block three blogs because they're obviously racist.
Tumblr media
Now to put it simply for the stupid ass racists who are upset...
ARIELIS A DAMN FICTIONAL CHARACTER! A FUCKING MERMAID!!! SHE ISN'T HUMAN!!!
Saying Halle "ruined your childhood" is real fucked up given she isn't even the first person of color to play Ariel. And no one moved their lips when that happened. Ya'll are mad because she is a bit more brown for your liking and that is so fucking sad.
You're missing out on seeing a very gorgeous, talented woman who radiates magic play one of the most iconic Disney characters there is. All because you're stupid.
"Her hair is not red enough". Bitch, when Disney first created Ariel they needed her to stand out. The previous princesses were brunettes and blondes, just like her sisters. Disney knew that what better way than to grab attention than to have a redheaded mermaid that for once isn't mean or a side character? Also, remember the movie "Splash"? A mermaid movie Disney had made? Guess what? Madison is a blonde in that film and Disney didn't want her and Ariel to be mistaken for each other. Another reason why Ariel is a redhead. Ooh! You know what else????!!! She just had to be a redhead! Never said that her hair had to be a specific color. In fact, during that era, Disney didn't have the technology to make her hair a "realistic" red as they do now. Ya'll are so stuck on her hair not being "red enough" that you forgot Ariel isn't the first redhead Disney had. They nearly have the same shade of red.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note that Anastasia is human and came out in the 50s where colors are just a little more muted, her red is as realistic that Disney could get. But did they intend for her to be a redhead? Yes! Why? Because she's a mean character. Learn how movie tactics work. A lot of times when the protagonist is a cute little blonde with heart of gold, they need an antagonist that is either a black hearted brunette or a mean, red faced redhead. Understand, yeah?
Now when it came to Ariel, I repeat, they needed her to stand out. Disney couldn't rely back on making her blonde or brunette, although the latter was intended, because even though her sisters don't appear much, she still needed to stand out. It's also why her tail and seashell bra aren't the same color and why she doesn't have a hair accessory.
Also why, note her personality compared to the previous princesses. She's a lot more adventurous, and truth be told, "hard headed" or free-spirited. She fights back and does something in her final act against Ursula. It played into the fiery redhead trope.
So there's some reasons why Ariel is a redhead. But why isn't her hair "red enough"? Because we know who she is now. Back then, Ariel needed to make a name. Now, she doesn't have to. When know Ariel is a redhead, we know she's a mermaid. Also, it would look so odd in live action. Animated, it blends well with the other bright colors of the movie. In a live action film, she still needs to stand out, but also not awkward. Bright red hair against real life muted underwater blue would look too... it just would look so odd. Although a mermaid, she still needs to have some feel of naturalness to her. It's a plus Halle got to keep her locs because it adds onto that. Slapped a wig on her and there would be memes, be honest.
Onward!
You know what, I might make someone mad when I say this but I give two fucks about it.
Ariel looks better here than she does in the animated version. Why? Because while she looks magical, she also looks LIKE A CHILD. Who designed Ariel's top is a genius because uh... Ariel may be half fish but she's also 16 YEARS OLD. Watch the trailer again and you'll see no seashell bra. Now I don't know how old Ariel may be in the live-action, but consider this. What if she is 16? Note that Snow White is 14, but is covered up from head to toe. Modesty. Same thing with Cinderella and Aurora. Their movies came out during times when women had to be "submissive" and "covered up", otherwise they were shamed.
Ariel came in the 80s, when practically everyone was wearing a crop top and shorts. Which was a perfect "cover up" for Disney to create a character that was just as exposed. Isn't it strange that a lot of Ariel's promotional art is her in her seashell bra? Because Disney knows that sells. They didn't waste the opportunity to have a mermaid character with cleavage and have people not think twice about it.
Today? Be honest, ya'll would be absolutely outrageous if they slapped a seashell bra on a 16 year old. It was the issue with Jasmine and Pocahontas. Their default outfits shown more skin than other princesses have. And they fixed that when the live-action for Jasmine.
One more thing, Ariel is an original character. Ah, wait! Yes, "The Little Mermaid" is inspired by the story of the same name, but there are so many differences between the original story and movie that Hans' story could have been completely ignored. In the story, the mermaid doesn't even have a name and is blond. She even had a grandmother. Ariel has a name, a father... you know what? Separate characters. Ariel is Disney property and because of that the filmmakers could decide "Make her purple" and they would because again they have that choice. Disney, believe or not, can do whatever they wanted with their characters.
With Ariel being black now shouldn't even matter. Ya'll dumb ass racists should have considered if Ariel's actress could hit a high note. And guess what? Halle can. They needed someone who looked magical and had the voice to match and Halle is PERFECT for the role. She looks innocent, she has that princess aura around her and she can sing! Halle was actually seeked out to play Ariel. Rob Marshall heard Halle sing and asked her to audition. Her singing is just that good that they decided to add more numbers just to have more singing for Ariel.
Had it been anybody else, they wouldn't have done that.
Marshall just knew Halle had to be our Ariel and the fact that you racists, you idiots can't seem to get past her skin tone and see how amazing Halle is is so pathetic and you seriously need to get a life. Here's an article if you need proof.
But you can be mad because Halle Bailey is Princess Ariel of Atlantica and as she has haters she does have fans.
And just know that come into my inbox with anything stupid, you're just gonna get disrespected. Reblog this post with anything stupid, I won't even read your reply. I'll just screenshot it, post it and have it up for people to know how racist and ignorant you are and block you.
Have your opinions, don't care, but you will be respectful and if you can't do that then that's tough... for you.

Thanks for the tag @armandjolras !!
I am just going to do a couple of my personal favourites, they are not really in any particular order. Just ones i like! (So this thing got a bit away from me so the rest is under the Keep Reading hihi)
Okay i said literally a sentence ago that there wasn't going to be an order but: Elisabeth das Musical just has to be at the top for me. I mean, the brainrot this show has given me, i just cannot stop thinking about this show . It has invaded my brain since i rewatched it in full like two (?) years ago. (The first time i saw i was like. Whut the flipper is this, but then i rewatched and i understood) it's just kakdjshwj
Anyways, another show i keep coming back to is Come from away. Like, the story is just so beautiful and showing how kind and wonderful humanity can be! I also have to cry a little bit every time i listen to it (the "Turn on your radio" in welcome to the rock always gets me)
Next up is Anastasia and although the story is pretty okay to me the songs are just so wonderful and fantastical to listen to. I can't really explain it and this is not going to make sense but this musical feels (to me) a bit like Tangled, like it has the same vibes somehow??? Even though they are completely different stories but idk that's how my brain works (athough now that i think about it.... princess cut off from family goes on a journey with a conman and finds family back and also she falls in love with the conman....hmmmmm)
I want to put Doornroosje/De drie biggetjes/De kleine zeemeermin on here as well because they are pure nostalgia and i watched those so much as a child that i still know most of the songs and they are just fun
Hadestown is another show i looove but i don't really have words to describe my feelings for it but uhm... a cyclical story, greek mythology, just the overall feel, the simplicty!!!!
Romeo et Juliette/Rómeó és Júlia this show is also very good. Just solid songs and a fun take on a classic story. The Hungarian version is my favourite, i love how intense and apocalyptic it is and the whole production is just iconic
Honorable mentions to Six, Mozart! das Musical, Rebecca das Musical, Notre Dame de Paris, Tanz der Vampire, Hamilton (yes i still like it. Deal with it lol) and Moulin Rouge

Anastasia Romanov Propaganda:
"Even before Disney, bought Fox, everyone thought Anastasia was a Disney property. She just has that vibe. She’s a princess. Her movie is iconic and deserves to be brought to the attention of younger generations."
"She is literally the best! Everyone thinks she’s a Disney princess anyway so might as well make it official! She’s sarcastic, funny and a badass all while dealing with profound loneliness and longing for a family. Her whole arc is about letting go of her obsession with the past and choosing the family and future she wants, which is pretty unique for Disney princesses. She also sings Once Upon A December aka one of the best songs ever and I think she should win just for that. And her boyfriend. Her boyfriends awesome."

**Cinderella Romance, Romeo and Cinderella, and Cendrillon were all songs which were submitted. I condensed all Hatsune Miku songs into one entry.
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Disney Animated:
she is very iconic, she is super kind and has a beautiful dress
Hatsune Miku:
(General) NUMBER 1 WORLD PRINCESS!!! Miku miku oo ee oo :) also she is portrayed as Cinderella in a lot of songs.
(Cinderella Romance) [No Propaganda]
(Romeo and Cinderella) is hatsune miku. invented existing. references several other fairy tales.
(Cendrillon) Miku Miku Miku Miku Miku.

Hi Kit, at the weekend I want to re-watch some of my favorite cheesy fairytales like "The Cave of the golden rose" (my icon is the princess! It features one of the most gorgeous OT3 ever), "The Dragon Ring" (both are Italian fairytale movies from the 90s) or "The 10th Kingdom." (If you like movies similar to "Willow" or "Labyrinth" please try to find a chance to watch them!) What are your favorite non-classical fairytales?
oooo i hope you have fun with your fairytale marathon!!! that sounds relaxing af and a perfect way to spend a winter weekend!
i actually haven't watched a lot of non-classc fairytales---i think the closest i got was? anastasia? princess bride? once again my utter lack of movie knowledge is crippling unfortunately
