So I'm in London for the night for the Dimension 20 live show and I may have just checked myself in to the fanciest Premier Inn I've ever seen.

So I was expecting the plug sockets to not be close to the bed like they normally are (I even brought my longest charging cable with me in preparation for it) and to my surprise, the socket is in arms reach. I don't have to walk all the way round the bed to the desk for me to charge it.

This feels like a miracle.

But not only that! The bed has purple led lights on the headboard.

I'm only here for one night but goddamn I don't wanna leave already and I've only just checked in.

after ordering my scrumptious dinner in the hotel restaurant, i walked into the bathroom, unsure what to expect after the nightmare of Stratford-upon-Avon's disgraceful public bathrooms. I opened the door and was met with a wonderfully soft, carpeted floor; and a mirror that covered the entire wall beside the sinks. It was completely empty, so i had quite the choice of cubicles!! I chose the middle one for the ultimate bathroom experience. It was absolutely delightful. The cubicle walls were made of wood, cut vertically, so one could see the beautiful wood grain. The sinks were marvellous, with temperature control and plenty of soap, which had a splendid aroma. The hand dryer was powerful, however one had to push a button to use it, so the duration was longer than i needed.

The General Lying-in Hospital, Waterloo, London

This building once housed one of London first maternity hospitals which opened in 1767. Bizarrely “lying-in” is an old-fashioned word for childbirth. After the hospital closed it was converted into a Premier Inn hotel. It therefore now houses visitors to London who in turn are often “lying-in” on a Sunday morning after a big Saturday night around Leicester Square!

Opened in 1868 as The Theatre Royal, it was initially used as assembly rooms and a library until it was taken over by Yates' Wine Lodge a year later with the ground floor becoming a bar with the upper floors becoming a cinema.

As a theatre it has been known as the Tivoli Picture Theatre and Van Beine's Theatre although most people alive today will refer to it as Yates' Wine Lodge.

It survived until 2009 before the whole building was destroyed by fire, it was then left as an eyesore for all visitors to see until 2018 before work commenced on the new Premier Inn building we have today.

1960's Tower in Bristol UK

Built in the 1960's this tower was the HQ for Avon County Council. When the Avon authority was abolished, it was sold and became a Premier Inn. The hotel has been trading for many years, but the building is now past it's best and is in need of serious upgrading. Premier Inn's has decided to sell the site as it has another more up-to-date facility in the City. The Current City Council will now demolish this building and replace it with two towers on the same site one a 24 story building for student accommodation and another lower rise tower for office use...

Go West

After weeks of working and nothing else I decided to book a last minute deal in a Premier Inn in St David's West Wales.

We have stayed at that Premier Inn before and so decided to make it a road trip with the kids. We left much later than usual and so spent most of the day travelling and getting some last minute bits and pieces but overall we enjoyed the weekend trip.

We did a nice costal walk along Saint Non's and a trip to Newgale Beach which was nice to blow the cobwebs away.
