as an autistic person it’s very hard to tell what’s going on in my body, so one of the ways i tell when i’m dehydrated and/or having a POTS episode is by asking myself:

“does salt sound, like, REALLY good right now?”

and if i’m like “omfg YES i am literally a slut for salt” then its prob POTS-related and i drink some instant ramen broth

I am having the worst time and missing taking the beta blocker like crazy atm. I know it's only been a few days and it's kind of to be expected to have a rough time adjusting to two new meds at once, but I feel like shit and I can't do anything and I hate it

Yesterday I stayed at a consistent +100bpm just lying down in bed. At one point getting up to go to the bathroom got me up to 150bpm. It sucks and I just feel awful.

Aaaaaaaaaaugh

The tests are scheduled. That is gonna be a looooong rough day, followed by an annoying ass week with a heart monitor on, followed by another appointment.

Some small, stupid part of me is holding out hope that these tests show it's some simple thing that they can easily fix and I'll get to be normal forever and live the life I wanted.

A larger, angrier, more jaded part of me wants that part to shut up and start accepting life as it is before I get my hopes up again.

I just want to be okay. I want to be told everything can be okay.

talking to people who have never fainted before can be so strange when i’m like “do you ever feel like you’re about to faint and y-” and they’re like “no.”

fun thing that keeps happening as i navigate the labyrinth that is my health now that i have a foothold on what's wrong with me:

'do you experience [specific pain/other symptom]?'

'[only the normal amount so] no' <- he would later find out that the normal amount is actually 0

or alternatively:

'do you experience [specific pain/other symptom]?'

(has to think about it because pain etc. is something he has learned to tune out from a young age and doctors have historically not taken his concerns seriously so everything but the most pressing of symptoms is now background noise) 'that's a good question' <- after paying attention he realizes there's a name/language to describe his experience and that isn't the default state for a human body to be in (and he really shouldn't be surprised by this point)
