sometimes it’s hurts so much you feel like there’s water in your lungs and no matter how hard you try to breathe the hurt always wins.

he makes me feel like a rocket ship going two hundred and fifty three thousand miles an hour. he is a celestial beauty and he injects himself into my veins every night.

that’s the only way i can take him. intravenously. he is a high dosage and sometimes i need to eat a meal before i can see him because he is a drug and i can’t get enough.

when he touches me it burns. everything is on fire and i am highly flammable. before i know it the curtains are up in flames and the whole room crumbles with the weight of his rejection.

i like him like i like my tea. two sugars and no milk. he likes his with no sugar and no milk. and i suppose i am the same.

he holds my hand so much sometimes i lose circulation in my knuckles and his jacket always smells of cigarettes and i pretend that i understand when he tells me he can’t love me.

there is a certain fascination about him. his eyes are the colour of the sky before it rains and his smiles are bright and wide. maybe he is too busy living in his head to notice me.

there is always something off balance. he often needs to find his equilibrium and i need to figure out why my eyes have turned so dull sometimes even he can’t stand to look at me.

maybe i exist too much. maybe my constant need to write my thoughts down scare him. maybe my wide eyed mornings and this constant war raging inside me makes his head turn. maybe his constant need to run away will tear us apart.

i remember too much and say too little. i’m always so painfully fucking aware of everything going on and most of the time i feel like i can’t breathe.

he is a heartbreak waiting to happen. my next thirty six poems. the next seven months of complete and utter loneliness filled with tears and distractions that never work.
