As far as I am aware Al Capone (1899-1947) is the only real person to have appeared in a Tintin story (Tintin in America). There were other characters that were based on real people or made cameo appearances but Capone was the only one who was featured and named.

He was convicted of tax evasion in 1931, the same year this story started to be serialised in Le Petit Vingtième. In that original version the characters face is hidden by a bandana/western outlaw mask but in later versions he is drawn without it.

i just love thinking about tintin and le petit vingtieme.. i generally like mundane aspects of characters and fiction but i especially like this because it is so fundamental to tintin as a character that he is a Reporter, and yet it’s an aspect of his life that we literally never see

like. thinking about how his older colleagues might have helped and guided him when he first started out, polishing and refining his natural skill. he has a desk that they keep for him even though he’s never there. the daily comic strip that they print includes a cameo of snowy once a week. he attends the holiday parties. he’s in one photo on the break room fridge. his colleagues are all fond of and protective of him on some level, even if they’re not very affectionate or familiar with him — they watched him grow up, after all. he’s part of the team, part of the family

#the mundanity of tintin going to work and having coworkers is just very dear to me #especially amidst all the exciting hectic dramatic happenings of his life. he still has deadlines like the rest of us #tintin #the adventures of tintin #i also love the idea of like. before the thompsons and haddock and calculus it was the team at le petit vingtieme that kept an eye on him #and again i don’t think they’re particularly Close. but they’re all on good terms #he is their collective younger extended family member who visits once in a blue moon #text #they do think his methods are insane though LOL. and his poor poor editor is so long suffering #feel the need to disclaimer that i am kind of on principle against the whole ‘workplace as family’ thing but this is fiction so it’s fine #thoughts

I made a custom Tintin doll! I used a Chat Noir doll as a base because that's the one petit male doll I could find that was articulated and still affordable. The amazing @bubblekidaesthetics photographed him as seen above!

Details about my process below. Warning for weird doll photos.

His jumper is made out of a pair of baby socks, his plus fours are made from an old tablecloth, his shoes are made from cardstock, his socks from some trainer socks and his trench is made from a pillow case I found on offer during a sale! The shirt is the one item I didn't make, it's a Ken shirt but as a result it's a bit too big for him.

I had to hack Chat Noir's head down with a box cutter because I found the vinyl too tough to pull off, then I sculpted over the remaining head stump with tin foil and a mixture of milliput and green stuff.

I painted him with acrylics for that vintage doll feeling rather than using pastels and MSC - he's orange in the second picture above because I was colour correcting the green putty.

Snowy was made with a My Little Pony, armature wire, tin foil and hot glue!

i finally started my tintin stats project, where i go thru each book from soviets to picaros and tally up certain things with the occasional note. im mostly doing it for fanfic, cosplay and headcanon reasons, and was just going to do it and then post my findings book by book but then i thought well. it's kind of a resource, and people might have specific things they want to know.

so far my categories are:

vehicles - what vehicles he travels in, which ones he drives, any crashes

health - when he sleeps, if he snores, if he dreams, if he has nightmares; any injuries and what kinds; any time he loses consciousness and the cause; when he eats and what he eats, what he enjoys eating and what he doesn't; any time he gets drunk

any time he is violent to another person

physical activity - any time he swims, climbs a tree, rides a horse

the law - any time he is arrested (including attempted arrests), imprisoned, sentenced to death, or joins an army

emotions - when he cries and about what; when he laughs and about what; when he gets angry, at whom and why; when he is visibly afraid and of what; when he prays; when he sings or dances

le petit vingtieme - any time he actually writes an article lol

QUIFF DOWN!!! - any time his quiff is down lol. this is kind of a joke one bc this only happens generally if he's soaking wet but also i think its funny any time it happens so its getting tallied

at a later point i'm also going to chart the passage of time across each adventure so i can have a rought idea of how long each story lasts. in a similar vein, i'm also going to chart what clothes he wears and whether he still owns them at the end of the album (sounds weird lol but he goes thru SO many different outfits in soviets just bc people keep blowing him up and wrecking his clothes lmao. and at the end of congo he returns to belgium with only a rifle and the clothes he's wearing). i might later add things like, any time certain characters appear, but im still early on and he doesnt know anyone yet lol

essentially, i just finished doing this for congo, so before i get any further are there any other things people would like to see tallied/noted? i am doing this so u dont have to (:

Oh dear,this one is quite interesting not gonna lie.

First he would probably be surprised a bit,just a little.

He gave that quick up and down, took in the information and just kept his polite demeanor as always.

Traveling the world,he probably saw a buff woman or two but one close to him was something interesting in a way.

If you end up getting close to him,he would be more than happy to know you better.

If you talked about your workout routine and the amount of weight you lift,the boy would feel genuinely surprised,joking a bit that what he normally does in one adventure is almost a long workout since he's always running,jumping and or punching someone just to get his story.

And when he said it,now was your time to be surprised,even more because his body looked a bit ""petite"" for someone who does all of that (in a fucking daily basis)

One thing that I know probably happened is,when Tintin introduced you to Haddock,at some point,being an old marine like him, he probably wanted an arm wrestle just to see what would happen. You won,but it was a fair game lol.

Now,the dating part is kinda funny.

Do y'all know that couple dynamic “The amazon x the short guy”?

This. This is your dating life.

If you're taller,of course he wouldn't feel ashamed or anything like that,we all know this man,this perfect one that can do no wrong and does not have a fragile masculinity.

Just don't tease him about being short or trying to carry him like a bag of potatoes and we're good.

Only when not in public tho.

Like,having a buff woman is basically accepting the prince/princess treatment. Being held,hugged from behind and having someone to look up to for comfort??

A bit weird at first,but when he discovers the good things of having a buff girlfriend?

Sign he in.

Being used as a weight,like him laying on your back while you do push ups? A bit cynical at first,but when you easily do it,normally it becomes a thing. Like he is reading something while lying on your back or mumbling about this new mystery,it's kinda funny but he doesn't have a problem with it. (Again,as long it's made at home)

Would even go running with you as a way of spending time together, stopping at some park or little place to stay and just enjoy some quality time before going back home.

The cuddles? Being holded like a fragile thing always gives him the best naps he ever had in his life. Adore when you wrap yourself around him like a blanket.

I don't know why,but I feel like when you guys cuddle with you resting on top, hugging his waist and resting your head on his abdomen with a tank top or any clothes that shows your muscles,he would like,trace the definated line of it??

Like,I'm sure he would do it If you had body marks too.

Other girls hitting on him,he find amusing when you tower over him and kinda of send them off. (If you is far he would walk up and be by your side holding your hand)

He would even take you on adventures too,bonus if you learned some type of martial art. What is this? The perfect woman??

Although,if you're the tough exterior and fragile inside,the princess will be you. No questions asked.

He would find it lovely. The way you could be tough to be face to face with someone taller,but ask him to kill a roach out of fear clinging on his arm for protection.
