The last 10 years of my life would have been so different without you, I’m so thankful we got to spend them together.

[Ingrid]: He hasn't been himself this past week. He barely eats, doesn't want to go for walks or even have his nightly treats.

[Dr. Davidson]: The tests have confirmed its his stomach again.

[Ingrid]: What can we do? Surgery? I don't have his doggie bag packed but I can run home and get it. He can't sleep without his Mr. Blue.

[Dr. Davidson]: Your Highness. Surgery is not the best option for Ziggy. 

[Ingrid]: I want him to get better.

[Dr. Davidson]: He's not going to get better. He's not strong enough to under go any surgery with his age and current health. He's only going to get worse.

[Ingrid]: What are you saying?

[Dr. Davidson]: He's had a long beautiful life and you've taken good care of him.

[Ingrid]:...

[Dr. Davidson]: I'll give you a moment.

[Ingrid]: Oh Ziggy.

[Ingrid]: It’s going to be okay, boy.

[Ingrid]: I don’t want to believe he’s gone. 

[Eleanor]: I know this is hard, honey but you made the right choice for Ziggy. He was not going to get better.

[William]: He was a good dog. He’ll be greatly missed. 

[Ingrid]: He was more than a dog to me. He was family.

[Ingrid]: I remember the day they brought you home. I remember it so clearly. They placed you in my little arms and you snuggled up against me. 

I had wished for a dog every Christmas and every birthday for as long as I could remember and finally there you were. You captured my heart in an instant. My precious Ziggy. 

We grew up together, you and I. Spending our summers beneath this tree, me reading whatever novel I could get my hands on and you napping beside me. 

You were always beside me. Every heartbreak, every loss you were right there with your unconditional love. Letting me hug you and licking away my tears.

Even though letting you go was right thing to do and I know this in my heart, I do. I am still grieving. 

You were my family, my best-friend and I'll miss you.

hey everyone. I know I've been MIA for a little while but... I'm going to dip for a while longer.

this month marks a year since I lost my nan, and on top of it, our cat passed away this morning so I'm feeling a lot of raw emotions. I likely won't be responding to ooc messages for a day or so on discord either.

I'm also trying to fight off three infections and a bunch of other health issues so I'm really in. a dark place atm. see y'all on the flip.

I did the hardest thing today, I put my best friend to sleep. Being home without her hurts. Seeing her bowls and water fountain and blankies and toys all around the house hurts and makes it feel like she’s just hiding under a bed sleeping. I rarely share irl stuff but I had to share. I will be on a hiatus for a small bit. But u wanted to share my baby with all of you. She was 19 and she was the best girl.

i don't usually do this, but i had to put my dog down and i have a bill to pay.

with putting her down, meds while trying to save her, vet's 'terrain attendance' (this just means he came to my house, I didn't take her to the clinic and yes, they charge fee here, idk what it's like in other places.) it came all together to around $250, and I made 100 from donations and commissions already, y'all are AMAZING!!

(i’m so sorry if this is a big ask i don’t know many bird owners and am at a loss of where to find help for this situation) in need of some advice, tldr 2 weeks ago one of my budgies passed and i just want to make sure i’m doing right by the surviving one.

she’s very gentle and ok with interactions but in 6 years never bonded super well to me. her routine is the same she’s eating as good as always, still sings happily especially if i put on music for her. the first few days she had some runny stress poops but is all normal again. but all those hours she used to spend just hanging out quietly with her cagemate now she just sits there quietly looking kind of lost. no interest in her usual toys either

i’m wfh so she’s never alone for more than a few minutes but she consistently would rather put herself in her cage than spend time with me and i’m struggling to find the balance of letting time do it’s thing for both of us and gently pushing her comfort zone so she knows her flock is still here, just a little smaller. i talk to her lots during the day and interact with her if she’ll step up but most of the time she doesn’t want to

i’m just not sure i have it in me to get more birds after losing my special little buddy but i can and will bend over backwards for mercedes until if/when i’m ready for another bird. i just want to know if i’m doing a good job during the hardest part OTL

Sorry I’m a bit late to reply to this one, I hope you’re all doing okay.

The loss of a bird is hard, and birds do grieve as well so it’s not uncommon to see them shut down, isolate, or have mood swings following a loss.

Honestly it sounds like you’re doing everything right, giving her space, trying to talk to her and engage in ways she enjoys, keep her spirits up, give her some extra treats, and try to set up activities she can do to keep her activity up and her brain something else to think about.

Whether or not you get another bird is your choice, and it’ll take time to decide if that’s even the right call for your bird. In some cases another bird coming in after a loss can make things worse as the bird is already distressed and doesn’t want to interact with anyone right now. In other cases it helps them move on and cope with the loss. It isn’t a clear cut answer for that call.

As long as you’re doing your best, and trying to help her in whatever ways you can they’ll be okay. Take the time for both of you to process and grieve as you need.

We have to say goodbye to my first cat niece tomorrow, so I went over for one last cuddle with my now one-eyed girl. I’m going to miss Miss Iz but how lucky I am to have known her for 7 of her 17 years ❤️

another late night of finishing up work and feeling like bastet is just around the corner waiting to whine at me when she's not. I don't know how to stop fixating on her absence. it has been over a month and it is still tearing up my insides. I'm not even sure what it is exactly that I'm feeling. Like the more time that passes since the last time I saw her alive, the more sad and angry I get that so much.. life has happened without her in it. Every new memory I make feels like a potential replacement of an older one that has her in it. that scares me so badly and also makes me so angry? Each second I allow to pass brings me further away from her and it is maddening.

I've never had this hard a time dealing with pet loss yikes. I feel like I am still at all five stages all at once and yet life keeps going and I actually, genuinely hate that. I hate that
