I know this is a long shot, but I’m trying to post wherever I can to help.

This is Koda, and he was rushed to the hospital this morning (6/7/23) after becoming noticeably lethargic.

I just received the call from the doctor that Koda is dehydrated, anemic, has a severe upper respiratory infection, and has fluid build up in his abdomen.

They are unsure at this time where the fluid is coming from, but worst case scenario is cancer. They have started him on fluids and antibiotics to stabilize him, but his prognosis was given as “guarded.”

I was given an estimate of $1000 to $2000 for his treatment and hospitalization. I’ve got $400 down at the moment with another $600 on the way when I get paid this Friday.

If anybody would be willing to donate to Koda’s care, it would be more appreciated than you could ever know.

Hey! Pet Emergency! Please read!

Thank you for stopping. Hi, you don't know me. I'm sorry for bringing you sad news you otherwise have no business knowing.

Yesterday (Sunday, January 28th), my cat stole and consumed some yeast. If you weren't aware, yeast is unhealthy and actually quiet dangerous for kitty. So I buckled down and had to call animal poison control. Fun fact; In the USA you have to pay to call animal poison control. Thankfully they were able to bill me which gives me a couple days to pay it. Unfortunately, they concluded I needed to seek veterinary care. My only option was emergency vet care because it was late on a sunday. I had to pay money I didn't have. Money that I wish I could have paid my power bill with if I did have it. They didn't even succeed in getting the yeast out of my cat so I'm sitting here watching over him hoping he will be okay and knowing that I'm in more debt than I need to be in.

I am currently offering commissions to help make up for the money used and to hopefully pay a bill or two if I get lucky.

This could be me. This could be one of my colleagues, one of my classmates, one of my friends. It’s understandable that the original owner is upset over losing her pet, but what she’s done in retaliation is despicable, as is the news station that ran this story smearing our profession. Veterinary professionals should be able to go to work without facing graphic threats of violence against them and their families in return for saving a life in an impossible situation. You wonder why veterinarians and their support staff have such obscenely high rates of depression and suicide? This is why.

If you have a pet, I’m begging you to come up with a financial plan for their veterinary care. Get pet insurance (especially if you’re getting a new puppy or kitten). Start an emergency fund. Have a credit card set aside specifically for this kind of situation. Apply to CareCredit or a charitable fund like the University of Tennessee’s AlignCare if you find yourself unable to cover a bill. Most people don’t have immediate access to $10,000 (which is a reasonable price for the intense level of care this puppy required), so you have to have a plan. And don’t go buy an expensive purebred puppy and then claim you don’t have any money for vet care.

Be kind to your veterinarian. We are hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt from our education while making far less than our human healthcare counterparts. If we were in it for the money, we would have chosen any other career.

Hate to do this but had to bring my cat to the Emergency vet care clinic tonight. He had a ruptured abscess in one of his glands and because of the emergency it escalated the cost and so I am in need of some help. Finally got on setting up a pool for Matteo's vet bills bc it's been hard to keep up with work while I've been so emotionally drained trying to watch and spend time with him since Sep.  He's our baby boy but also expensive. 

I kept being unsure how to set one up with the PayPal changes but it still has a fundraiser option I guess. It only lasts for a month tho. $3,000 is just the rough estimate of how much his bills have cost since Sep and I'm waaay behind on covering losses... Anything helps. Pls spread if you can.

Vet Bills

Hello everyone!

My baby ragdoll, Teddy Bear has been diagnosed with CCV, his prognosis isn’t looking very good, he requires a stay in the vet hospital and while I have paid one thousand for his first three days with the help of my friends, my family and I are already struggling in an abusive situation with our mother that leaves us struggling to buy food and pay our rent and my friends can’t afford to keep helping us, I would appreciate if there was anyway we could get some help for Teddy Bear’s hospital stay otherwise we are going to have to have him euthanised, he’s only five months old and I don’t want to see him have to pass without a fighting chance.

The vet has said he will likely need a week or two and I will receive a call later tonight to update me on his current condition but all I can afford is a three night stay for him, he’s my baby and my beacon of light after losing my best friend, Lucifer, I don’t want to lose him too

So, I finally got the apartment I’ve been waiting for after being on the waiting list for 9 months. Unfortunately, they were kind of dicks and gave me about 2.5 weeks notice. I had just spent all my extra money on kittens, but I’ve been able to scramble and borrow and arrange payments to paychecks in such a way that all my move in costs are covered.

However, this doesn’t leave any room for “nonessentials” like food and vet visits. The kittens need their next set of shots, and it can’t be delayed because they have to be given a certain amount of time apart. Additionally, Bella’s expensive prescription dog food is about to run out (I can’t feed her regular cheap dog food because she has gall bladder disease and it’ll literally kill her like her mother went).

So. I need about $350 by November 10th, for these things! Anything over will go to feed me, but I can probably subsist on the food bank for a couple weeks if I have to. Any boosts are a help, even a dollar is a dollar more than I had before. I really appreciate how everyone has come together for me in the past, sorry to have to ask again.

Hi Tumblr, my aunt's dog, Rani, who in my extremely unbiased opinion is one of the best dogs in the world, is unwell right now.

They don't know yet what the cause is, but she had to visit an animal hospital to treat her symptoms and they're calling in a specialist. So far this has cost almost $7000, which she is worth! But unfortunately my family doesn't have.

Our dog Bec has been having health issues lately. Most symptoms were manageable, he was still happy and running around and eating until about a week ago when things took a turn for the worst.

He's lost so much weight, he refuses to eat and he can't even keep water down anymore. He's barely got the strength to move around and chooses to sleep most of the day.

He's very old and his quality of life has gone down astronomically in only a matter of months, and we don't want him to suffer with his health complications anymore. We got an estimate that it would cost somewhere between $500-600 to have him put down and cremated and we can't afford that right now.

My partner and I are fundraising for our rabbit Mushy Snugglebites' cancer treatment. Right now we need to get him a CT scan, which sits at an estimated nearly $1500 without any taxes or fees, to find out if we need to get him surgery, which is estimated around $3600.

(I plan on adding pictures of the vet's price estimates when my partner is home, so if you're seeing this version of the post feel free to check my blog for the edited version. Just want to get this out ASAP)

We have CareCredit for our animals, but we've been using it for meds and monthly checkups for Mush and our other animals, so that's not entirely an option for us. We need to raise as much as we can to do this out of pocket.

Currently the GoFundMe goal is $2000, that's just to cover the CT and any other unexpected fees that go with it. If we find out that he needs surgery, the goal will increase to $6000.
