With one day to go until we announce the Best Picture Books of 2019 with #FindMeStories_2019, and nothing but snow, cold, and grey, overcast skies here in Toronto, I have the perfect book to put you all in a cheery, colourful mood today! "Up and Down the Andes: A Peruvian Festival Tale" (2008) by Laurie Krebs and Aurélia Fronty, is like a wonderful South American trip in a picture book. Reading it aloud, the story's lilting rhymes bounce along like the various modes of transportation described, up and down through the mountains, as we take in the views, the local costumes, and so much more on the way to the Incan festival of Inti Raymi, honouring their Sun god (and what better time for it than now?). A gorgeously colourful, wonderful read-aloud that has been a cherished part of my own collection for over a decade now. La catedral del conocimiento. Una hermosa y enorme biblioteca de estilo gótico...que me recuerda a Harry Potter ⚡️. Pienso en el aprendizaje y pienso en que para aprender primero hace falta reconocer que otro sabe más que tu...aprender requiere Humildad. Que importante la virtud de la humildad...con ella las relaciones con los que nos rodean serian más fáciles... con ella podríamos aprender más y de todos. Han escuchado de la Letanía de la humildad? We recently went to a Peruvian festival and Baby was very interested in the show and I took the opportunity to snap these pics. It’s crazy how when you bump into another Peruvian in aN.Y. other part of the world you instantly feel that happy to have found someone who knows about the things that make your culture so unique. It was great, we bought some delicious treats and called it a day after a couple of hours, because you know kids can switch from entertained to overtired in a matter of minutes 😂 . . Hace poco fuimos a un festival peruano y este bebito estaba muy interesado en el espectáculo y aproveché la oportunidad para tomar estas fotografías. Estando ahí, me di cuenta de lo curiosa que es la experiencia de encontrarte con otro peruano en el extranjero ...te sientes feliz de haber encontrado a alguien que conoce las cosas que hacen que tu cultura sea tan única. My time with these two is my favorite time. One of the things that we have come to experience in the US is the many delicious ethnic foods we had never tried in Peru 🇵🇪. We are now a hummus, Falafel and tabouleh loving bunch. So amazing that Lucas is having the opportunity to taste all different styles of cooking at such an early age. 💛 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mi tiempo con estos dos es mi tiempo favorito.
