Have you ever thought about how Mario probably grew up in a loving but financially unstable home, and how he and Luigi likely struggled to eek out a decent life for themselves prior to whatever strange magic brought them to the Mushroom Kingdom? Have you thought about the months where they had to decide which they wanted more: food, or a roof over their heads?
And then have you stopped to think about Peach, a literal monarch with an endless supply of wealth, suddenly giving them a cottage big enough to house a whole family and free access to her castle and inviting them to share meals with her, for no other reason than 1.) she's quite fond of them and 2.) she just can? How she probably views these gestures as meager, the absolute least she can do for her friends, and how she likely has no idea that she's casually giving them a sense of security and belonging they've never had before? How much peace she brings into Mario's life, never having to wonder where his next paycheck or his next meal is coming from, seeing his beloved brother finally having the means to pursue his own hobbies and pastimes, and not even realizing it? Have you ever thought about that?
And have you ever thought about how lonely Peach's life must have been? Even if there were other children her age to play with (never mind that none of them were human like her), she couldn't have played anyway, because every aspect of her upbringing was tailored around making her an effective politician? And how even in adulthood, there's very few people who seek her company just for the sake of it; how she goes into most interactions knowing that she's wanted for her beauty, her power, her influence, and nothing else?
And then have you stopped to think about Mario, a guy with plenty of friends and lots of better things to do, just... seeking her out for no other reason than to talk? How he could have so much more from Peach if only he asked, she would happily gift him any treasure that money could buy, but for some reason she can't decipher, all he wants is her friendship? How he doesn't view her as untouchable or some great means to an end, nor does he just turn a blind eye to their differing social statuses; he acknowledges her position and her power yet expects nothing of her in spite of it, and is happiest simply when he can sit and chat with her about nothing for hours on end? Have you ever thought about that?
Because I think about that, like. A lot.

What would you say to someone who finds Mareach boring?
Uh- Well I'd tell them this is quite unfortunate. 😶😅
Granted, people like different ships for different reasons. Some will prefer vibes that are either more ambiguous or more straightforward, have a sense of rivalry, or are playfully aggressive- and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!
But I do get rather dumbfounded whenever relationships that are deemed stable, healthy and soft are also automatically considered less relevant or less interesting by default. What about gallantry, and kindness, and mutual support? What about loyalty, and selflessness, and heroism?? Classical qualities the likes of which are found in fairytales have a timeless charm for a reason, and I can't imagine how any of those things could be perceived as boring. On the contrary, I find that they are inherently epic and inspiring, regardless of gender or narrative context, and they have my whole heart. 💞

Calpico white peach
Tumblr media
Just a quick one. I was in t&t mart looking for a different beverage (tba) and saw one of these which were suggested to me by @annoyingalchemist so I figured I'd give it a try.
They're actually under the umbrella of Asahi who make my favorite Japanese lager as well as my favorite shelf stable iced coffee (highly recommended my yours truly)
I've seen these around but never thought to try them because they're usually next to milkis which are a similar product (dry milk/lactic acid containing soda) that are smaller and carbonated which I prefer.
I tried the peach one because peaches make me giggle and squee ☺️
It wasn't bad. The milk gives it a creaminess and there's a stronger yakult-y sourness to it compared to milkis but I've had stronger yakult beverages before and I found the sourness lacking slightly. The peach flavour was also quite artificial tasting; I didn't see aspartame on the ingredients list but it's that kind of flavour which I wasn't a fan of.
That said it was refreshing. I'm willing to consider that maybe I was setting myself up for a more artificial tasting experience when I went for the peach so I think I will try some of the other flavours, although I likely will not make any new post about them unless i have a lot to say.
Solid C+

Been seein some rather cold takes about Daisy lately…
I’ve seen some people say that she has no personality outside of fanon, but that’s just not true. There is a very very common misconception among the fandom (at least that I’ve noticed) that if a character doesn’t appear in a “mainline” game, then they have no personality. But I’d argue that the spinoffs actually offer waaaaay more in terms of looking into character personalities. And no, I’m not talking about the RPGs ala M&L and Paper Mario as those are obviously full of personality (and Daisy isn’t in those). I’m talking about the Party, Kart, Tennis, and other sports games.
Yes, Daisy hasn’t appeared in any mainline game since her debut, but she’s been in nearly every sports game and her traits, stats, abilities, victory/loss animations, and various other tiny details add up to her personality. The fact that she’s nearly always yelling or just speaking really loud in general (noticeably more than any other character), the fact that she constantly feels a need to say her name and make herself known, how she loves flowers and considers even a small patch of flowers worth protecting, how she’s easily bored by tasks that don’t excite her and isn’t so reliable for them. She tends to jump around a lot, and spin and dance around when she’s excited! She’s apparently a rather fast runner and that is considered her specialty! These are all traits that are displayed in the spinoffs, and there’s probably soooo many more that I just can’t remember right now.
Now, I do think her tomboyish nature is probably fanon, as I don’t really remember seeing anything to show that she acts that way in the games. I think people probably think she’s tomboyish due to how loud and energetic she is. But hey, there’s plenty of fanon for just about any character from any fandom out there. And what’s so wrong with that? Isn’t the whole point of making fanworks to expand on the framework already provided by canon? If we want to stick to what’s actually “canon” then nearly everything the fandom has created would have to be tossed, because there really isn’t much to work with. Fanworks and fandoms thrive on what fans can create based on the canon work, not just sticking to it perfectly.
It’s fine if you think the “fanon” Daisy outshines the “canon” Daisy and you dislike that. But to say that she has no personality aside from fanon interpretations just tells me that you have a very narrow idea of what counts as “canon” in an already rather simplistic world. The Mario games are very simple and straightforward without much consistent lore that actually makes sense cohesively, but the characters are what keep everything tied together despite that. The characters are nearly always consistent, and that includes Daisy. Even when the setting is completely different and some random new villain shows up with some random new power source to steal or species to torment, our same well-known lovable characters will be the center of the story and that’s what makes it fun!
#devin speaks#super mario bros#princess daisy#i mightve gotten a bit too personal with my views of canon vs fanon but i still think it needs to be said#people who argue over what is considered canon in a video game series are so funny to me#especially a series like mario that has expanded soooo far from its original premise#its different than a show or movie since most shows will finish their main story before delving into spinoffs#most of the mainline games are literally just bowser kidnapped the princess and mario has to save her#very few of them offer any insight to personality of anyone#that isn’t to say theres none at all but i still think the party kart and sports games offer waaay more#of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions and if you dislike daisy or think shes boring then whatever you do you#i am simply sharing my opinion as well :)#sorry time to be salty real quick#literally the entirety of waluigis personality comes from the spin offs but no one talks about him???#he is literally in the same boat as daisy but i never see anyone saying they dislike him for his ‘fanon personality’#really makes you think#people rag on peach for ‘having no personality’ too but hers shines through the spinoffs as well#and even the rpgs!! shes actually in those and has multiple voicelines and cutscenes and people *still* say she has no personality!#i know this is about daisy but gosh mario ladies in general are treated rather poorly unless theyre eye candy#im glad rosie debuted in a mainline game with a clearly given backstory spoon fed to the player so she doesnt get this treatment lol

I've been replaying Paper Mario n64 and it's wild how Peach in this game is so clearly the blueprint for Felicia and in general my preferred type of female captive whumpee. hear me out... trapped in a superficially comfortable place but with no freedom, no chance of escape, at the mercy of her captor. sneaking out every chance she gets to try to gather information to share with her friends outside in hope of rescue. lying to her captor and manipulating him however she can to make her life easier and make rescue more likely. reading her captor's secret diary and playing trivia games with his underlings and baking cakes. she's truly everything. formative influence for sure.

Oh shit we are finally getting episode of savanaclaw manga coming out in december
Obvs I'm looking forward to see Jack content in the manga but mmm I'm also a little worried? I'm not really a fan of how the new artist (Oda Suzuka, Pretty Boys Detective Club artist) drew Leona cause he looks too... Soft-looking? (his skin also looks very pale 💀) and that expression overall just seems ooc to me
From seeing their works, all of the characters they draw are bishonen (slim, pretty face, soft features) so I'm lowkey worried about how they will portray Leona and Jack, I'm just hoping they won't twink-ify Jack and make him less muscly and give Leona a shoujo-protagonist face
Anyway I hope that I'm wrong and that they will do a good job portraying savanaclaw 🙏

Why is clef so mad in the Mario drawing 😭
It’s up to your interpretation to why he’s a lil grumpy!
However personally to me it’s probably because he got convinced to become a cutesy sentient hallucinative mushroom!
Look at his stupid smile. Look at his squish. Tell me that you wouldn’t consume his cheeks. Look how fucking happy and optimistic it is despite its world literally burning around him.
Its exactly the cutest shit that Clef would probably despise.

After watching all the new episodes past the “ITS GOTTA BE PERFECT” special…I really gotta wonder-
How’s Peach Gonna fare? You know, once she gets out!! Knowing her characterisation in SMG4…I bet you she’ll be VERY mad-
I’ve skimmed the episodes for the little scene we get of Peach, and she seems to be building her way up from the fleshy keyboard nightmare-scape that her castle became-
I…think this might end up being building up to a new arc maybe?? Or a new episode!!
Either way,I just can’t wait until she gets out >:0

Underrated trope: Peach finding Mario authentically, conventionally attractive. He’s viewed by most people as plain and even a little goofy-looking, not hard on the eyes by any means, but more charmingly cute than handsome. And then there’s Peach, who is just. Besotted the instant she looks at him, even before romantic attraction is involved. His broad shoulders, his plump cheeks, his sturdy figure, his thick and luscious hair — put bluntly, Peach thinks he’s hot, the physical ideal of a man, and she assumes everyone else does too.
“Okay, so like… physically,” Daisy whispers over tea one day, “what exactly do you see in him?”
Peach gestures to where Mario’s assisting with some repairs to the courtyard fountain ten yards or so away. “Look at him,” she says with no further explanation, because hello, it’s obvious, isn’t it? Anyone with half-functioning eyes need only take one look to understand why he constantly has her weak in the knees.
All Daisy sees — and, in fact, what most people see — is a short, chubby guy with a big nose and a funny mustache. “Just making sure we’re looking at the same guy,” she mutters with an amused grin.

TW: Mentions of suicide
There's seemingly a lot of mixed opinions in the omgcp fandom about the thought process behind Jack's overdose. I feel like generally, people make it more about the relyance on the pills and make the overdose into more of an accident. And perhaps I'm just projecting, but I feel that it wasn't just about relying on the pills. I believe that he truly wanted everything to end, and saw suicide as the least troubling way to do it.
I feel like by just making it about the pills it sort of de-values the struggles he might have had, and how hard his recovery could've been.

separate! alastor, vox, and adam // how they kiss
Tumblr media
ALASTOR is a gentle kisser — at times — other times his teeth will softly bite at your lips, drawing little blood to make an excuse for his tongue to lap over them. this is only done in the bedroom of course, he is not too keen on pda especially in the hotel.
his kisses are usually quick and against your hand, sometimes against your forehead before he leaves to do his daily tasks.
he enjoys kissing you with meaning, especially when there is no one to bother the either of you. he usually has a hand holding your chin or brushing against the nape of your neck — he enjoys kissing you.
Tumblr media
VOX enjoys a solid make out session, and his kisses always turn into one. rough and with passion, his lips are against yours with any chance he gets when the cameras aren’t on — or when the press aren’t around. he enjoys when you straddle him between your legs over his chair and pull him into a kiss, with your hands coming over his chest, it drives him nuts.
frenchies are the best in his opinion — if it isn’t sloppy, then what’s the point? he’s trying to get noises out of you and whine for more — it’s fun!
his kisses come often, whether if it’s a kiss for the magazines or a loving one before bed. he won’t admit it, but those are the ones he looks forward to the most. also smooches you before a show, he calls them good luck kisses!
Tumblr media
ADAM isn’t the one for heavy pda, surprisingly. that doesn’t mean his lips press against your cheek or your temple. sometimes your chin if he’s in a rush or just on your brow. whether if it’s with meaning or to just watch you get flustered — maybe give him a smooch in return and that’ll make his day.
his lips are all over you behind closed doors, especially in his office. kissing your neck, your shoulders, peppers your face, and will be bold if kiss between your thighs.
a little odd, but he enjoys kissing up your thighs/knee the most. it’s his favourite place to be in the whole fucking world, can you blame him? mostly enjoys kissing up your neck before bed also, he loves hearing you laugh because the peach fuzz on his chin starts to tickle you.

Hey my lovely, could i equest a blurb where reader seeks one of spencer's hugs and he's all soft and mushy about it!! I just think he'd give really warm hugs and want one so bad!
shy!reader + post!prison Spencer have a hug
Spencer understands why you might find him intimidating. He did go to prison for a few weeks, and even if the idea of his being a potential felon didn’t scare you, there’s nothing wrong with being nervous around the unknown. You’ve had a few more weeks to get to know the others on the team. He tries not to take it personally that you’re closer with some of them than you are him.
Plus, you’re awfully shy.
Spencer’s been trying to communicate that he’s an idiot. He was shy, once, and he tends to be shy about things now, too, even if he’s taken to hiding that. He hides a lot, these days.
But things aren’t hopeless with you. You’re inarguably his best work friend now that Morgan’s not around, taking the desk next to his —through coincidence or insistence, he has no idea.
“What flavour do you have today?” he asks.
You show him your bag. The convenience store outside of work has the strangest sweets from all sorts of places. You’ve been bringing in a different bag each day, and you always share. “Today is apricot and peach ‘millions’,” you tell him, shaking the bright pink bag like a rattle.
Inside, the millions bounce against each other like miniscule polystyrene balls but with a heavier weight.
“Awesome!” he says, holding out his hand. “Please?”
You rip the corner and tip a generous helping of candies into his palm, doing the same in your own hand. “Ready?” you ask.
“Three, two, one.”
You both tip your heads back at the same time. Apricot and peach are similar flavours, and Spencer can’t tell the difference when they’re both in play. He can also taste apple juice and the sharp citric acid flavour they put in every candy.
He can’t tell if you like them. He quite enjoys it, will happily eat the leftovers if you’re not interested, but your attention isn’t on the candy when he looks up. You’re staring straight at him.
“What?” he asks, perturbed.
“Nothing, just. Had a rough morning. Thanks for trying the candy with me.”
He frowns. “I’m sorry. Let me know if there’s something I can do to make you feel better. I can make you a cup of hot chocolate?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
Spencer’s sure that to an outsider, he and the team appear to travel to a hundred cities a month. In reality, cases aren’t as densely packed, especially with the government expanding their profiling teams, and the majority of Spencer’s day is spent answering emails and giving advice to agents, law enforcement, and his colleagues. He doesn’t see much of you (where you’re forced to work ViCAP calibration as newbies usually are, almost like a hazing) but he does take you that hot chocolate around lunch time. Just to make sure you have the option.
It’s sometime past four PM when you appear again.
“Hey,” he says, turning to you where you’re paused behind your desk chair, “you're finally done?”
“Not yet. So many case files to transcribe, opinions to cross check, signatures and…” You wince. “It’s a lot. You already know.”
“I don’t, actually. I only ever had to do ViCAP as punishment, and I was extremely well-behaved. For a while, anyway.”
You hesitate with something heavy on the tip of your tongue. You’re like every profiler wherein your tells are self-identified and quelled, but you’re still so new, and Spencer’s an expert. You want to ask him for something, but you don’t think you’re allowed. If he presses the issue you’ll shut down, and if he offers you another cup of hot chocolate you’ll simply drink it without letting him in on the real secret.
Spencer waits.
“Spencer, you don’t have to say yes, just… You’re the nicest friend I have, and you always know what I need to hear. Um, I know you don’t like touching people and I wouldn’t ask you to if you don’t want to, but it’s been a really long time since someone hugged me, and…” Your voice gets quieter and quieter, until you’re whispering, and then fizzling out.
“You want a hug?” he asks, surprised.
“If that’s okay.”
“I give really good hugs,” he warns, climbing from his chair immediately, arms opened, an unmissable invitation. “You’ll never get over it.”
“Really?”
He can’t believe you came to him specifically for a hug. He’s gonna lose his mind. Gentle, Spencer ushers you into his arms, head quick to duck down, his thumb on your shoulder.
You could’ve asked anybody in the office for a hug. Penelope would have hugged your brains out. Emily, Unit Chief and secret sweetheart, would’ve taken you off of ViCAP and given you a loving pat on the back. But you didn’t ask Penelope or Emily, you asked him.
“You don’t have to ask me first,” he says quietly.
“You don’t like touching.”
“That’s more to do with germs, and I’m not worried about yours,” he says. “Unless you’re about to tell me you have a headache.”
“It’s like this pounding behind my eyes,” you say with a laugh.
Spencer smiles, his mouth and nose to the side of your head. He gives you a good ten seconds of quiet, his palm warming your shoulder, before he murmurs, “Any better?”
“You’re really warm,” you murmur back.
Spencer resists the urge to squeeze you. “It's the oxytocin.”
“Or you’re just really, really warm.”
