Hey guys,

I love reading your recommendations and one product I kept seeing in my replies is actually one of my favourite products that I guess I haven't spoken much about. So today we are giving Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, £34.00, it's deserved blog post.

I feel like with this product everyone I know either loves it or knows someone who loves it and that's how I was introduced to the product. You have probably seen this product on advertised on TikTok a 100 times but for those who don't know let me fill you in. This skincare favourite is a a clinically-proven blemish buster that works to unclog pores down to their oiliest depths. It dissolves built-up dead skin cells on the skin's surface and inside the pore, unclogging pores and improving skin cell turnover rate.

Everytime I use this product I can noticeably see a different in my skins texture and appearance. Since my skin type is oily combo, products like these really help my skin manage it's oily nature but also brighten and even my complexion. It's crazy how one product can make sure a difference but when I go through times when I'm not using it I really notice a difference in my skins appearance and feel like I need to get another one.

If you are looking for new skincare products in your collection I would recommend checking out this product (and ingredients for my sensitive skin people out there) and see if it suits your routine. Like I mentioned for me it's been a total game changer and it might work for you!

Paula's Choice 10% Azelaic Acid Booster - Review

Purchase: I ordered straight from the website in August 2022 after hearing about this brand for ages. This product was one of the 2 items I ordered and tried which introduced me to Paula's choice. I'd heard this product is better than any other OTC Azelaic Acid products on the market and decided to pop it into my cart.

First Impressions: It comes in a squeeze tube. The tube is durable and sturdy, which is a plus. As for the actual product, it comes out of the tube in this thick, white, almost waxy texture but spreads like a gel cream. I originally wanted to use it as the "serum" step of my day time routine (as step 3 after washing my face and spraying Avene Spring Water) only to realise the consistency was almost as thick as my moisturizer and could not replace the role of a hydrating buffer that my The Ordinary serums had played before getting this. So I tried it out for a bit that fall and then ceased using it upon getting the Universkin Kojic Acid serum to use for the day instead.

Usage: I pulled The Paula's Choice 10% Azelaic Acid Booster out on October 28th, 2023 when it was 75% full and used it after a toner this time around in my daytime routine. I used it as an "area treament", which is a liberal 'spot treatment' in my world, by applying it on my cheeks and chin. I wanted to use it on my forehead but I noticed it caused fungal acne so I skipped it there.

Thoughts: I disliked the formulation of this product. I hated the waxy smell and how the product started separating from water after a certain threshold. I'm unsure if I actually saw many results with this serum. The biggest downside though was that there came a point (maybe halfway through the tube) when I felt that my skin got itchy upon application, and turns out this was a common experience a lot of people faced with this product and Azelaic Acid in general. I was on its last stretch in scooping out the last of the product when I became too hesitant to continue using it and ended up using it on my legs/feet to finally finish it on Feb 16th instead. So 75% of the tube lasted me a 3.5 months.

Final: It's a bad sign when I resort to using a skincare product on my legs/feet, especially when I got it shipped from the US. I'm disappointed with both the products I've tried from Paula's Choice and although the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is still on my list as the most hyped Paula's Choice product to eventually try, I will not be repurchasing 10% Azelaic Acid Booster again.

Watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend from the start so I can finally finish the show, and I forgot just how badly Paula enables Rebecca's bad behavior immediately right out the gate in the biggest ways possible.

Also the actress playing Paula is fucking fantastic. Simultaneously a great best friend, an overbearing mother, an unfulfilled woman looking for better things, and an evil mastermind with an incredible voice! I'm excited to see where her character goes in the 4th season!
