Splotch Summer 2023!

Surprise folks! Splotch Summer is coming back! I'm paring it down a little to a couple splotches released a week but it’s all the same fun. Splotch Summer is where I share random paint spots, blobs, lines, etc. and invite others to add on in any way to draw what they see or imagine.

Here's an example. A pink and red-orange paint splotch, with some extra shape added to the bottom, details, and outline to make it a chicken!

Here's the plain image to get you rolling! Check my linktree for the folder of image files for the splotches, it will update as we go! The challenge officially starts on the first day of summer but go for it!

4: Movie of the year? In terms of quality probably Barbie? But in terms of how it contributed to the awesomeness of my year, I'd say Erbe des Drachen 🐉

5: TV show of the year? Didn't really watch a lot of shows this year but The Fall Of The House Of Usher was amazing ✨

8: Game of the year? Not a game from this year but one I played for the first time this year and really liked was Paradise Killer 🌴

14: Favorite book you read this year? The one that @alintheshitposter gave me for Christmas 😍

Re: height, not to get your hopes up but also potentially encourage you if you care about height, I had a friend who was shorter than me and then sometime between the age of 21-23 she got taller than me by and inch or two. So perhaps a random growth spurt could happen

oh, yeah, that's happened to some people in my family, so it's entirely possible. i'll get back to you in 3-5 years to see if my height changed any 💜

Introducing #SplotchSummer

It is hopefully to be an annual time of creativity and sharing. Splotch art is the exercise of making or using a pre-existing paint splotch, and adding on more details to complete the drawing.

Above: An example of a paint splotch and the completed splotch art using its form.

The simple example I give you here, we start with a brown paint splotch, it’s almost like an ink blot test. I saw a face, and some flame shapes. Then I just sort of went from there using colored pencil to make it a sort of demon/volcano face with a hand on its chin.

So that’s the goal and the process, to make a spot of some paint into something new! An animal, a character, a prop, it’s up to you!

This summer I will periodically be sharing scans of the watercolor paint splotches I’ve made, anyone can save the photos, and hopefully others will want to create something new and share it!

Splotch Summer will be a chill, low-pressure challenge. It takes place over the three months of summer, but there’s no specific amount anyone needs to do or special timeframe (besides summer).

I also encourage people to make their own splotches if they’re not inspired by the ones given! If you participate please tag it #SplotchSummer and tag me! I’ll definitely reblog participants :)

Comms and #atreyuwatch status post

These comms are part of the $25 dollar sketch series benefiting me, my sister, and our cats, Artax who is fine and Atreyu who just had surgery!

You can use this post to track my progress through this recent series of comms. I'll be updating it as I receive and complete commissions and as Atreyu heals.

SUMMARY 1/16/2023:

A month and a half later, I've finished all of the requests that came in to help with funding Atreyu's surgery!

Any that haven't been posted will be posted shortly✨

Between my sister and I, we completely recouped the cost for the surgery, from commissions and other sources.

If you're interested in giving money to another worthy cause, consider donating to Cable Two's January Fundraiser!

And most importantly, Atreyu is doing VERY well, and the only remaining sign of his surgery ever having happened are his shaved wrist and nakey belly.
