Red and Blue

My nominations are the aptly named Red and Blue of Overly Sarcastic Productions. Red started their YouTube channel as a Shakespeare/general classic literature summary series a la Spark Notes. She has since branched out to examining common tropes in media, world mythology, and the occasional astronomy adventure. After a while, Red’s childhood friend Blue started posting videos as well, this time about history. He still mainly does history videos, but also peppers in historical architecture content. They form the popular YouTube channel Overly Sarcastic Productions and are joined in their podcast (Overly Sarcastic Pod) by their friend and editor Indigo (otherwise known as Sophia Ricciardi). Special guests of the channel and podcast have included Cyan (Blue’s wife), Jacque Ze Whipper, JoCat, Cleo (Blue and Cyan’s cat), and Ziggy (Indigo’s cat). They often host charity streams where they play games like Zelda and Assassin’s Creed to raise money for causes like Doctors Without Borders. Red and Blue are a very fun and funny duo who produce educational, but immensely enjoyable content. Red and Indigo also star in the D&D actual play podcast Rolling with Difficulty as Kyana and Dani, respectively. Blue has guested as a cleric who’s name I cannot remember at this time.

I'm gonna say something that might or might not anger some people.

GREEK MYTHOLOGY HAS NO CANON!!!!

And this is something you will very much find when researching the myths. With many version, retellings and localizations you'll find many myths that contradict other myths and even themselves.

An example would be the Illiad by Homer saying that Aphrodite & Hephaestus were never married and that Hephaestus is married to one of the graces. And then in the Odyssey, also by Homer, it says that Hephaestus and Aphrodite were married and that Aphrodite is cheating on Hephaestus with Ares.

Then the myth of Artemis and Orion, with one version saying that the two were in love and another saying that Artemis very much disliked Orion and summoned a giant Scorpion(the Scorpio constellation) to kill him.

To simply put it, saying that greek mythology has a canon is the same as saying that the USA is the perfect country.

And this why, when someone talks about something in Greek mythology, it very much annoys me when someone else goes "well, actually..."

It's stupid, and honestly, feels a bit like gatekeeping.

It came to me that people who love 40k, particularly necrons and PARTICULARLY Trazyn and Orikan should write a fanfic of Warp one day coughing the entire youtube videos of Overly Sarcastic Production's (OSP anyone who doesn't know watch them Red and Blue are amazing you will learn so much I promise) catalogue to Solamnace. Just...just imagine the SHEER orgasm Trazyn will experience when he finally decipher the english language and realizes he came to a literal gold mine of Earth's ancient ANCIENT past history , mythology and writing practices (also unhinged podcasts and video game playthroughs)

And its even more perfect because he WILL bring Orikan to watch these and they both realize the utter mirror Red and Blue has with them because Blue being obvious historian Red while doing mythology and literature videos is a MATHEMATICIAN (She is apperantly studied math in uni) and has a total fascination with STARS

AND THEY WORK TOGETHER AND CREATED SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL!!!

I'm catching up on the OSPod and got the flag question in ep67 (asking Blue what makes a good flag design & he references the new Utah flag), and as an ex-mormon who's lived in Utah, absolutely HILARIOUS (they're right, the beehive is v important to Utah mormon culture, I've seen it in *every* mormon place there, so it being said to be "woke" is amazing 🤣)
