My love to Ophelia, Lily, Orinthia, Jinx, not only wonderful writers whose prose is INTIMIDATING to respond to, but so supportive through a difficult year and so patient with how little I have written thru it. More than writing partners, they are friends, and getting a message from them always makes me smile. - Much love & stay gold, Geraldine.

trying to Process daphne du maurier's rebecca
& thoughts on interacting w Literature generally..
rebecca takes we've culled off tumblr so far:
- maxim subsumes narrator & prevents her becoming a person of her own [prolly the Authorial Intent TM]
- maxim is grooming the narrator
- narrator is subtly manipulative & ends up controlling maxim [what??]
- narrator genuinely loves maxim but he doesn't love her back, & if all the shit w rebecca hadn't happened they'd've been p normal
- narrator is autistic [obviously]
- narrator is trans
- maxim is trans
- we just love the dogs, stop calling jasper fat [so valid]
- names: ich, ileana, summer/autumn. i like orinthia & autumn & agnes
- narrator is rebecca's ghost who came back wrong. narrator is a ghost in general [😘]
- they're in a toxic dependent relationship w manderley
- max is the real villain and rebecca did nothing wrong [....um..]
- rebecca x danvers
- ew no danvers raised rebecca as a child
- maxim and rebecca are two sucky people and poor narrator gets pulled in as damage control [again, seems p close to Authorial Intent TM]
to me it's very centrally a haunted house story. manderley haunts them - or do they haunt manderley, in the prologue/epilogue?
THIS is gorgeous and it's what id throw my weight behind, staying in the genre of pure literary review that's faithful to the text
but i myself can't stay in that genre 😂 because stories are too real to us
the only way we can take stories in is that, as soon as they touch our mind, they become transformed by our personal sensibilities & loves & priorities
and what's important to us is love & hope & people working through their issues and healing
i like ich & maxim, they make my heart ache. so i believe in them. that they can become healthy. and i will perform imaginative couples therapy on the narrative until i create a world in which this happens. andd then that's the only way *i* can honestly read the text
so anyway. i can't prove it from the text and probably shouldn't try, bc the text "in itself"* presents something rather blatantly Problematic
but
to us
maxim & ich truly love each other they've just got Issues and Trauma & we wholeheartedly believe in them. ich isn't confident enough to stand up for herself or communicate her feelings, and maxim (who is the one to blame, being the one w more power) has only ever had an abusive relationship plus is wrapped up in his web of lie and trauma & doesn't know how to treat his young, sensitive, imaginative, genuinely loving wife.
and what we see in the prologue cannot be the final stage of their relationship. they're sad and stagnant and she's still sort of faded
*idk insert here something deep about intersubjectivity and how truth is relative {as in, relational}

Please tell us more names for the genderbend twst! Especially for Scarabia, ignihyde and the Leech brothers 🙏 honestly, you manage to get such cool and nice sounding names! Thankyou! 💕
Thank you <3 I search most of them on "Behind the name", that page is so much fun. You get to see people were really poetic even in their beginnings, they would see their newborns and sometimes name them after what they thought was pretty or had value in life.
Jade= Jaida
Floyd= Fleur
Kalim = Karima, Karam
Jamil = Jamilah, Jawdat
Idia= Irida
Ortho= Oriana, Orinthia

Your (Updated) Guide to the Durgestarion Dhampirs
Okay, I know I made this post forever ago, but things have changed since then and the “Field Guide to Raising Dhampirs” exists as an actual ongoing series now, so I thought now would be a good time to do that.
Baby bios and some light family history under the cut!
Tumblr media
Alright, I won’t go crazy with the family lore, but for reference, here’s a list of the grandparents/aunts/uncles that may make appearance or be referenced throughout the series:
Maternal Family (Theapheles “Thea” Never)
-Father: Dagult Neveremeber (Bhaal’s avatar, human.)
-Father: Bhaal.
-Mother: Hala Never (high elf.)
-Stepmother: Miriam Neverember (human.)
-Older brother: Tavish “Tav” Never (high-half elf.)
-Younger (half) brother: Renaer Neverember (human.)
Paternal Family (Astarion Ancunín De Selby.)
-Father: Gildersleeve “Sly” De Selby (high elf.)
-Orianna Ancunín (wood elf.)
-Younger sister: Jovenna “Jovi” Ancunín.
And, of course, you can’t forget the adventuring party turned bonus relatives, but you know them already, save for the additional of a few:
-Nimue Harlowe Dekarios (tiefling.)
-Luxenor Kestrel (tiefling.)
-Pax’i’philia Dot’Tar (half-drow.)
The De Selby Siblings (Adoption/Birth Order)
-Selwyn “Sel” (wood elf, adopted.)
•Sel is a monk, and is about 19 when her first sibling is born.
•Parent Trapped Astarion and Sel along the road to Baldur’s Gate. Astarion forged her a proper birth certificate when they reached the city.
•Most people assume she biologically belongs to Thea and Astarion. She doesn’t, but ironically enough, her birth and her appearance both suggest otherwise.
•Adding to the irony, her birth name “Orinthia” does strike most people as a combination of Astarion’s mother’s name (Orianna) and Thea’s name.
•They love her like she’s their blood, so none of them actually mind the confusion.
-Mina (Mephistopheles tiefling, adopted.)
•Mina is a rogue, just like Astarion.
•Mina was adopted by Thea and Astarion after Thea’s ex-husband (Hector, Mina’s birth father) nearly had the girl killed for being born a tiefling due to his family’s dealings.
•She was born and subsequently adopted less than a month before Thea gave birth to Rumor.
-Rumor (dhampir, firstborn biological son.)
•Rumor may look like Astarion’s clone, but he is a wizard like his mother.
•Rumor was born in Waterdeep instead of the fmsily home in Baldur’s Gate, like he was meant to be. But that’s a whole story, not a bullet point.
•He’s selectively non-verbal, and his family learns to accommodate this very quickly.
-Peregrine “Pip” (dhampir, biological twin boy #1.)
•Pip is a monk, just like Sel.
•Sel and Pip are as thick as thieves, not that all the siblings aren’t. Sel actually helped deliver Pip, and Thea and Astarion had her choose his name.
•He and his brother are both a fairly good blend of both parents.
-Eldritch “El” (dhampir, biological twin boy #2.)
•El is a ranger, just like Thea was, once upon a time.
•He and his twin are a force of nature together, but thanks to their parents, they know just how to get away with their shenanigans. Their motto is “confuse, don’t abuse.”
-Nimue “Nim (dhampir, biological daughter.)
•Nim is a sorcerer.
•Nim has quite the story, despite her young age. Her maternal grandmother actually poisoned Thea while she was pregnant with Nim, which led to Nim being born early and Thea nearly dying (she would have, if Astarion hadn’t turned her.)
•She’s a daddy’s girl, but not at the expense of her relationship with Thea. She just like attention, but won’t ask for it.
•She’s named after her late Aunt Nimue, who helped save her life.
•Has Thea’s softer facial features, but Astarion’s hair.

can u tell us more abt the pink butterflies route
ABSOLUTELY
Obviously, major spoiler warnings for FE3H below! It's a fictional route yes but it uses much canon lore and story concepts!
SO.... the Rosé Wings route obviously begins when Byleth decides to teach Bronwen's house. As a side note, if Byleth doesn't choose them, a new teacher character named Orinthia Lyne teaches the Pink Butterflies house. Although, no matter if Byleth selects them or not, a teaching assistant named Rúna works as a helper to whomever teaches that house.
This route follows the same general beats pre-skip, except Bronwen oft remarks that something seems off with the portrayal of things in historical texts. When Edelgard leaves and declares war, Bronwen confesses to Byleth that she thinks something is severely wrong and that the whole thing feels orchestrated.
Post-skip, so five years later in game, Bronwen and her class [including most characters recruited before the skip] take up Garreg Mach as their base so Bronwen can be closer to monitoring the war. This route is by far the longest, as it involves consulting with Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard personally to gain information, with Bronwen remaining a neutral party as they fight mysterious soldiers.
Once the truth is uncovered, Bronwen and Byleth then work together and unite Fódlan against Those Who Slither in the Dark [TWSITD from here on cause lazy], even persuading Edelgard and unveiling that it was that group who experimented on her, partly for this reason. Thus, together, all their armies unite in one massive final battle, completely eradicating TWSITD and saving Fódlan from their painful influence.
The final battle is a HUGE DEAL and even involves multiple "teams" being lead that the player transitions to across the fight. In theory, they are the houses, but they can be selected aside from the two leaders. The default teams are;
-Bronwen [locked unit], Gareth [locked unit], Deirdre, Islwyn, Askr, Freyja, Delwyn, Althea, Yuri [if Ashen Wolves DLC is installed], Rúna.
-Dimitri [locked unit], Dedue [locked unit], Felix, Ashe, Sylvain, Mercedes, Annette, Ingrid, Hapi [if DLC is had], Portia [OC who also appears in this route dw abt it].
-Claude [locked unit], Hilda [locked unit], Balthus [if DLC is had], Lorenz, Raphael, Ignatz, Lysithea, Marianne, Rosalind, Desdemona [both are OCs dw abt it]
-Edelgard [locked unit], Hubert [locked unit], Constance [if DLC is had], Ferdinand, Linhardt, Caspar, Bernadetta, Dorothea, Petra, Orinthia.
For the final strike/second phase, you can decide who is present in the unit and none of them are locked. After beating this fight, you then get a cutscene to end things off.
Unlike other routes, you choose who you s-support with after the final battle. Bronwen wishes you well in your proposal [which is funny if you pick her lmfao], and Fódlan is said to be at peace afterwards- cooperative and united into the future.
In short it's me being wishful and trying to let everyone be happy

Some ideas for Azriels mothers name: Amara, Lyra, Callista, Faraday, Leta, Nemea, Orinthia
omg i love Lyra.
i searched up the name meaning but instead the name Lyre popped up. apparently, it's Greek and a name of a constellation. the name has associations with music, harmony, and the night sky.
with Azriel revealing in his Bonus chapter of ACOSF that he sings and the fact that they all live in the Night Court . . .
it is canon that Azriel's mother's name is Lyre.
its spelled like Feyre's name too🤭

Members of the b-team, how they joined, and the roles they play:
Erin: She was originally a part of the ninja team but after season three she left along with the others. She didn’t join the ninjas when Lloyd rounded them up, but did end up on Chen’s island after he said he had more information on her mother, who had died when she was about seven. After they defeated Chen and the anacondrai she quit the ninja gig and caught up with both Amelia and A-O. She then joined their team. As one of two elemental masters on the team, she gets sent on more missions. With her element of the sun, she can easily fight along with her ninja training. She is also typically good at assessing threats and acts more as the brawn than the brain for the team.
Ramona: After Ramona was shot and killed in a robbery, she was sent to the departed realm. When Morro escaped though, she followed soon after. She soon found A-O, who she had been dating when she was still alive. She joined the team after she and A-O convinced everyone on the team that she wasn’t a servant of the preeminent. She doesn’t typically play a large role to the team as she typically loves to cause trouble and such, though sometimes she is very useful when she is needed to get into secure places.
A-O: She was used for experiments in a lab but at a young age, somehow escaped. They wandered around for a while until she stopped in Ramona’s village when they were about sixteen. She and Ramona started dating. But after Ramona was killed, she moved on and eventually made their way to Ninjago city. After the attack of the digital overlord, they took one of the Nindroids and fixed it up until she had Fisk. About four months after Fisk was finished, which took almost a year, the two of them were introduced to Amelia and she invited them to the team. They accepted. A-O typically helps with field missions and considers themself to be the team mechanic, and helps fixes all the junk that Erin and Ramona break.
Jakob: He grew up in a crappy household, and when he and his mom got into a drunk driving accident when he was about eight, he was paralyzed from the waist down. He eventually becomes a hacker and hacks into mainframes and various companies, as he has many people paying him for information. Soon enough he gets enough street cred that the ninja come after him and put him in prison. He spends a few years in there before some unknown person claiming to be his family bails him out. He continues his hacking career, but only accepts small jobs until Amelia approaches him and asks him to join the team. As the second official member he helps convince Cora and Raine to join. He works to find more people to add to the team, he is also considered to be the ‘tech guy’ and helps A-O with repairs.
Amelia: She grew up with her mother and father in a small apartment in Ninjago city. Her mother was the former master of sight, and passed that power down to her child. With that power, Amelia was plagued with visions of the past present and future her entire life. When her parents died during the attack of the great devourer, she inherited the money that her dad had somehow gotten from his own father. With that she bought a pizza parlor and lived in the spacious apartment up top. She spent the next few years putting together her team. She ended up going to the tournament of elements where she fought against Neuro and won. There she added Erin to the team. She acts as the assurance, telling the team where and when something will happen, how it will happen and how to be prepared. This comes in very handy, unless she doesn’t get a vision about what is going to happen then they end up going in blind.
Orinthia: Orinthia was born into a family of elves, which were a more adapted version of fairies. She was supposedly ‘cursed’ with her physical third eye, which was considered to be a bad omen in her tribe, even though it brought larger opportunity for her to learn fairy magic. Her mother completely shunned her, while her other parent still loved her deeply. They took their child and left. They were eventually killed and Orinthia somehow found herself in a trailer park full of fairies. They took her in and taught her magic just like she was destined to. After she left she was confronted by Amelia and jumped on the chance to join the team. She is good assurance as she can use her magic for many instances such as defense, offense, and can easily use it to get other teammates out of situations.
Raine: Raine’s mother was a demon and her father was an angel. Amari and Grayson had a child in secret but were hunted down by the other demons as it was considered treacherous. Amari was killed in a brutal exchange but Grayson escapes and handed baby Raine off to a trusted Friend of his deceased partner. He then fled the scene and wasn’t seen again. Raine grew up with a wealthy family and Cora as a sister. Eventually more demons find her and attack her but she is offered help by Amelia and Jakob and immediately accepts, dragging Cora into the mess along with her. She can materialize wings and is good for Ariel attacks.
Fisk: Fisk was built by A-O from spare parts of various evil Nindroids from the digital overlords attack. He followed her to the B-team and became a valuable asset, being a Nindroid and all.
Cora: Cora grew up with Raine and her mother. When the demons started attacking she followed Raine tan the b-team and joined as another asset. She mostly helped with cover stories and sometimes, undercover or rescue missions.
