Every remake of a game should come with a copy of the game it is remaking that is compatible with modern hardware but otherwise untouched and I'm not even exaggerating this should be mandated by law. If you're going to attempt to recreate a piece of art you have to give people access to its original context otherwise it becomes the only context and makes the previous version simply a superceded product

#eldritch chatter #getting unreasonably upset thinking about the sh2 remake becoming peoples only touchstone for the series #and then having everything the original did and and all its jank (intentional and not) get lost #its the same as losing the original versions of star wars with the practical effects #it keeps people from actually engaging with the culture that the remake came from and understanding it and that makes me want to chew glass

1st Art of 2023, 100 First Artworks and a Look Back (Number 85)

85. Bąkowo Remaster

The final landscape of 2020 and the remake of a piece from 2019. Really happy with this one, glad I managed to remake this horrible thing from the last year (example below), and the difference is noticeable.

That overhaul still makes me proud while comparing these two. Although it's not a perfect remake, the houses aren't that great, the far greens could use more polish, and this rendition it's not faithful to the original photo (number 24), but more to 2019 upload. While not perfect, I still like how it turned out, I feel redeemed, and that's what matters.

Not much to see but it's there.

As I don't have the time to work on new piece at the moment, I made this little remake of a remake. Two years between the first version and this one.

This exercise proves to me that, as I've been thinking for some time, I've entered this delightful period where my sense of observation and my ability to see faults have progressed and are out of step with my skills, which need to be improved.

robin introduces a house rule when her daughter's maybe four or five: movies after 7pm only, unless they're child-friendly. josie goes to bed at 7pm, so it isn't an issue, really.

the thing is, the rule carries through as she ages, but what robin, steve, eddie and nancy forgot to account for was that kids are smart.

josie, obviously, knows that they only watch films she's not allowed to watch after she's gone to bed. but she also knows that they operate on supposed dinosaur logic, which is if she sits very, very still, they will forget she's there.

it works... for a while.

because one night, they're watching scream, and they've just reached the reveal of who ghostface is. robin and nancy are tucked into an armchair together, and steve and eddie are lounging on the couch. eddie tucked up against steve's chest, says, "oh, stu and billy definitely have a lil something-something going on." they've definitely kissed"

"they've definitely kissed," robin agrees.

on the screen, billy stabs stu to sell their story, and eddie grins. "with tongue, yeah."

and josie, eight years old, far too young to understand any deeper concept of the conversation, pipes up, "why would he stab him if they've kissed?"

and eddie, who had forgotten she was there, yells, "JESUS FUCK!"
