I loved WEDNESDAY

It should have been at least 15 episodes

Xavier is a bad version of what his character was supposed to be because there was literally zero real estate to develop the dynamic between him and Wednesday beyond his immediate obsession with her and her obvious lack of interest. The worst parts of the narrative throughout the season were the pieces of conflict that relied solely on the audience’s investment in the potential for romantic developments between him and Wednesday, none of which felt genuine to the story. I’ll give the actor credit though -- he did a good job! If Tyler is Angel, which he clearly is supposed to be (and, admittedly, while I support a happy Buffy above all else I am an unfortunate Bangel shipper), then Xavier is Spike. But Spike and Angel and Buffy were never in a Jacob and Bella and Edward style love triangle. I hope season two forgoes the  contrite Dawson/Joey/Pacey thing and focuses more on the characters and their organic development.

Plus, Wednesday’s main love arc had nothing to do with romance. It was the love between her and Enid!

#also wednesday was just SO CLEARLY NOT INTO XAVIER when he was throwing his lil tanturms and asking his ex girl friend to make him forget #that entire exchange and interaction is proooobably why i'll never personally be on board with the two of them #i also think there's an incredible hurt/comfort/redemption ANGELBUFFYLOL multi-season arc between wednesday and tyler that's juicier and #inherently more exciting and interesting and engaging #i'm one hundo p spec-ing this show #i'll probably spend the winter break outlining the spec when i'm not finishing up my current feature #or doing my freelance work #it'll probably be a first day back at nevermore spec #but maybe not #tyler will DEFINITELY be a student at the school though #tyler is a nevermore student and that much was clear to me from the get-go #i'm excited by the prosepct of this show #i wish it were on a network if only so it could get a 20 episode order

isn't it weird how if you get up at 7 or 8, do your work all day, then have free time and go to bed at 11 that's absolutely fine

but if i said i get up at 10, do fun stuff in the morning then work in the evening and go to bed late, i could be called lazy, nevermind that i'm getting just as much or MORE work done as i would in a traditional work day

I do want to talk about sharing art online from the perspective of a hobby freelancer but before that I'll just toss this tidbit I mentioned on my main

Reblogs are not numbers. Reblogs are meant to share and pass on artwork that someone may like. NO ONE is forced to reblog anything BUT it is a core of engagement in a space like tumblr. Engagement is what brings in interest after all and it's one piece of what makes it important for freelance artists here.

When you look at the numbers and the notes, we need to stop viewing them and comparing them with likes (me included) or total in general. It doesn't help.

Artists do self rebloging to both show or remind folks they've done some work as well as to nudge people to reblog their stuff. Tags are nice and comments in them are a nice way to engage too but passing on the work, especially to help someone to get noticed, is a good way to just work the site as intended.

It will always be about luck because we can't guess who wants to engage with what online. You also can't blame yourselves for this. Don't use the internet mentality of "content" (eugh!) and "flopping" and go about it that way. People find stuff I drew years back and find ways to engage with it now. It's really about luck.

There are things that can help but I'll go about it in another post.

One more thing. Don't be shy about "shilling". Advertise your open commissions, your patreons or ko-fis. I promise it has nothing to do with how big of an artist you are. Remember that you're doing that within your own zone so "bothering" followers is hardly the case, it's your house. Make a tag for it if it helps your mind. I say as someone with social anxiety.

i have done commissions in the past on other platforms, but for now i am not taking them here. i'm not saying that i never will, because sometimes life is.. you know. Like That™️. but for now i'm steering clear of it to try and keep my passion up! 👍
