Thai actual meaning Embarrassing edition😣
Thai names for dishes are often pretty simple. No confusing difficult names. Food is often just called as it is.
For example: Pad thai with fresh shrimp is ผัดไทยกุ้งสด
ผัดไทย pad thai
กุ้งสด fresh shrimp
Let's see the difference in:
Kanom Krok ขนมครก 😋
Kanom Sun ขนมซัน 🌞
ขนม "Kanom" means dessert/sweet
By adding something else, it can easily become the name of a new dish.
ครก krok mean mortar, so kanom krok is called like that not because it's made in one, but because of the shape. They just look similar.
Ongsa was thinking about what to gift Sun and accidentally replaced "krok" with "Sun"
You can now see what vibe it gives off. It's like she called a dish"Sun sweet"/"Sun cake"
My dear Ongsa, you're so awkward 😭
