LAWLU FIC IDEA: TORAO

An AU where everything is more or less the same except Luffy doesn't let anyone else use 'Torao' for Law

Hates it even

(While i like that there are others who use 'Torao' for Law, i also like the idea where only Luffy gets to use the nickname and no one else)

Anyways!

There are only a number of things that Luffy won't share with anyone. The first of course, is food. Second, is his special seat. The third?

Trafalgar D. Water Law

And it shows from the get go when he won't let anyone - not even his own nakama - use 'Torao' for Law

Law doesn't mind either way but he'll admit if only to himself, that he likes that Luffy is the only one who calls him 'Torao'

The Old Guard x One piece AU got my brain going brrr and i'm gonna make it your problem now. Center of the matter is I want Zoro and Sanji to meet kind of like Nicki and Joe did (discovering their immortality by fighting on opposite sides and killing each other over and over and then becoming eternal lovers) so I went and did some research for the entire Straw hat crew. Main thing is I wanted to link them to historical events that will give them the right motivations and backgrounds! so here we GOOO

Sanji and Zoro: Because Japan has an isolationist past, the only battle I could find that would work is the Cagayan battles of 1582 in Jakarta between Spanish-Philippine forces vs Japanese pirates (a.k.a Wokou, which are basically pirate ronin) Sanji would thus be a reluctant "Rodelero" sent to South East Asia by his noble family (jokes on them he loves being in the middle of the spice trade and he hates being part of a noble family funding the conquistadores) who one day finds himself fighting a mysterious Wokou samurai Zoro. They're partly isolated from their respective camps when they first kill each other, and again, and again, until they realise they should by all means be dead but they keep healing. After a couple decades of -against all odds- running into each other everywhere, they reluctantly decide to try and figure out what the heck's happened to them together- struggling to communicate at first, then learning each others' language over the following decade, then falling in love and becoming inseparable. This makes Zoro and Sanji both over 400 years old, and they are the same age. Zoro learns about so many sword techniques and Sanji about different cuisines/ leg-centric fighting styles during this time.

Robin as an Egyptian scholar who died during the burning of the Library of Alexandria in 48 BC/ was killed for researching something forbidden during the declining years of the Roman Period (early 200s) and found out she was immortal this way, making her around 2 millennia old. She spends her time recording history and traveling the world and encountering new cultures. Her long time enemy is religious obscurantism, and the Catholic church spends a lot of resources trying to kill her. (they have conspiracy boards about this immortal witch in the Vatican)

Brook: so ancient he doesn't remember much, other that he came from Kerma culture (2500 BC), loved music, and that his entire village had died from an illness, but he came back. His memory isn't great but if there's one thing he's loved in his Millennia of existence is discovering and learning how to play all the instruments that he could find. He mostly hangs in Vienna nowadays as a music teacher.

Jinbei is a Samoan chieftain from around 1000 BC who one day died during a battle with a Fijian chieftain. When he came back from death he assumed Tagaloa chose him. He loves navigating, sailing, exploring and going on voyages with his people. In more recent times (post european contact) he was forced to ally with the US Navy to protect his people.

Nami: Irish lass from around 800 who's coastal, tiny village was about to be raided by Vikings from Sweden. She made a deal with their chieftain Arlong to go with them and map out the British isles for them to help their raids be more effective and targeted, in exchange for not killing people in her village, and that she would make back the plunder they did not get from this town for them. She started to join their raids to try and make this money, but she died in battle. She came back and they believed her to be some kind of Valkyrie or Einherjer brought back to midgard. She took over the raider's leadership- also Norsemen always had women handle money, which works great here. During her time as an immortal she travels, seeks treasure, double crosses people etc.

Usopp a young double agent/CIA spy from the Cold War who died on a mission. He tragically could not return to his love Kaya because he was afraid of putting her in danger by revealing he was alive to the spies that killed him. He relocates and starts anew constantly, his entire life a web of lies. He's a great marksman/sniper.

Chopper died young of the Bubonic plague in medieval Europe. He resuscitated, tragically his father is infected as well and he's unable to save him- motivating him to get to the bottom of this disease, he decides to become a doctor. Looking like a 15 year old for centuries doesn't make this task easy and he has to hide a lot.

Franky is an American veteran of WWI who was heavily disfigured first, and died later (which is why he's not fully healed and needs prosthetics). He's heavily anti-government from having been sent to fight in such a meaningless war that sacrificed young men like cannon fodder. He learned to fix himself up and make prosthetics and masks for veterans, got into making tech stuff

Luffy is a modern, 21st century 20 something year old from Brazil's favelas. He dies in a gun violence incident (maybe linked to a drug war/gang war where he's been trying to protect his neighbourhood) and comes back, experiencing visions of others like him. He's resolute to find them and make a crew, thinking that with all of them together, maybe they can help liberate the world from opressors and inequality

Another fic idea I’ve started working on but most definitely will end up in my dusty WIP folder is Baby 5 seeking out Law to help her get Dellinger out of a very bad situation, like sex-trafficking-by-Doffy’s-former-clients situation.

While Dellinger heals and the three of them revisit the 3 years (!!!!) they spent together with the Doffy Family, both would end up being adopted by the Hearts.

I saw someone posting a manga screenshot of Dressrosa and it got me thinking about how Dellinger still refers to Law as a brother.

Even if they’re probably mocking Law in that scenario, it still highlights the fact that Law was there when they were a baby, and possibly even helped with taking care of them, as we see Baby 5 occasionally watch over Dellinger.

Many have already pointed out how Doffy and the Family taught Baby 5, Buffalo, and Dellinger that despite the betrayal, Law is their brother. They kept the familial tie to Law in order to twist the knife even further and get the kids angry on their behalf instead of having them analyze why Cora would leave with Law in the first place.

I’m thinking about the turmoil and possible guilt Law feels since Cora helped him escape and had to leave the other kids behind. I’m thinking about Baby 5 feeling guilty because she moved on and finally had the opportunity to build her self-worth outside of a toxic environment.

And I’m thinking about Law watching this kid who is just bubbling with misguided anger, and probably knows nothing other than being under the will of shitty people. That Dellinger could’ve been him.

Plus, the Heart Pirates are perfect for Dellinger and Baby 5 to heal with so much love and dedication. With the crew’s goofiness, their introspection, their patience. They are certified Trafalgar Law babysitters, baby.

Anyway. It would be cool if perfectionism didn’t screech all the time in my brain and I could write this fanfic lol.

MODERN AU

SLOWBURN

Yasopp having that kind of a job what requires many business trips, some for long terms of time.

Banchina dies, Usopp is 8 at that time, but as far he can't leave him alone and so his friend from work, Benn, as he already live alone, mostly just after work go to a bar or read books and has his own business trips almost all the time on different times than Yaso, volunteers that he can take care over Usopp when he's not at town.

And through time Benn later moves to the house cuz he was living in a studio flat, no bad change in space it would be for him. Slowly there comes some love too between Beckman and Yasopp, u know... slow burn...

It would be heartwarming and all...

Would you guys be interested in something like that to read? Just asking! Just asking...

Comic would be in a short episodes or such, or it would be mixed- That idea just sits on my mind 24 per 7

Hug

It's nearly impossible to have a quiet and peaceful day with the crew, like the strawhats. Nami is mostly used to the noise on Going Merry but one day she gets fed up with Zoro and Sanji arguing. Not only are they extremely loud, but they've also already broken way too many things during their fights.

She decides that If they want to act like brats, then she's going to treat them as such. So she makes them apologize and hug each other in silence for an hour. None of them are happy about this punishment, but Nami threatened to raise Zoro's debt, and Sanji couldn't say no to her. It could be worse.

It's awkward enough for them to not incite any fight for a long time and Nami is quite proud of herself. She knows it won't last forever but at least now she knows how to handle them. It inevitably happens again. And again. And again.

Much to her surprise, those fights became more and more frequent. And what's even weirder is that she could see the way both Zoro and Sanji occasionally glanced at her to make sure she was nearby. It's almost as if they wanted someone to make them hug each other. As if they needed an excuse.... these idiots.

Soon, they don't even need Nami's help. When they aren't busy training, cooking or fighting, they cuddle together. Sometimes Luffy or Chopper would join them, but most of the crew knew it was their time.

After two years spent separately, they became extremely clingy. It's no surprise when they start sleeping in the same bed. What is surprising is that despite them behaving like a lovey-dovey couple, those oblivious idiots are STILL unaware of each other's feelings.

Obsessed with Zoro giving one of his earrings to Sanji when they get married and I’m ever so grateful to all the fanartists that add that in subtly to their fanarts it eats me up so much its so cute but I have yet to see a comic about HOW that conversation ended up going like oh my god could you just imagine:

“Cook, come here.” Zoro hummed, sliding his hand effortlessly around the blonde’s waist to spin him in his direction.

“Zoro?! The fuck are you trying this time mosshead?” Sanji would almsot chuckle, venom gone from his voice as a faint smile parted his lips and he turned to face his new husband.

“Mh, you mentioned you had your ears pierced on Momorio, right?” Zoro smirked, taking Sanji’s left ear in between his fingers and inspecting it with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“Yeah, but what’s that got to do with anything?”

“Hold still.”

Sanji rolled his eyes at the command, but held still nontheless as he stared lovingly at his husband, watching the way his face wrinkled in concentration, tongue ever so faintly jutting out like a toddler about to go cross-eyed from how hard they were focusing as he felt the cool metal slide into the hole in his ear. Something faintly jingled as the light sensation of metal grazed against his neck, an earring, obviously.

“A gift hm? And you arent even gonna let me see it before you slot it in huh?” Sanji scoffed with a laugh, waggling his eyebrow teasingly as he continued. “Reminds me of our wedding might you dog.”

“Oh come on,” Zoro laughed, giving Sanji a soft kiss before stepping back to admire his work. “I think it looks lovely on you. Better than on me.”

“What are you on about this time Marimo?” Sanji snickered before his eyes trailed over to Zoro’s earrings, finding there to only be two, and then it clicked. “Zoro- you didn’t.”

“Cause I couldn’t get you that ring.” Zoro shrugged with a soft smile. “Besides, I think it means more this way.”

“Gods above Zoro, what ever did I do to be as lucky as having someone like you?” Sanji sighed after a heavy moment of silence, stepping forward to plant a long, passionate kiss upon the swordsman’s lips. “I love you so much.”

“Love you too, Sanji.”

I need a fanfic when Sanji and Zoro are already together where Sanji mentions that Zoro wouldn't survive Sanji going full romance mode and Zoro, who can never lose ever, says to bring it on he's ready who is Sanji taking him for.

That's when stoned faced Sanji turns back, opens a cabinet and pulls the thickest notebook ever to be witnessed, puts it on the tablet and grins in a way Zoro can feel his entire body heating up and sweating.

Of course Sanji color codes his date ideas and has them separate by weather and time of the day. He is a maniac like that. He has a degree system from barely more than a friendly outing to a heavy full romance level that's meant for the person to lose their mind. There are graphics of how much each date could cost and how many people would be involved and of course, the corresponding dishes.

It only occurs to Sanji to be self-conscious when Zoro's about to find the tiny scrapbook where Sanji writes the date ideas specifically meant for Zoro. He started writing those before they were together, okay? It's a bit like your crush finding the notebook where you write his name covered in hearts and stars. His blush is what convinces Zoro to do it, because now he knows Sanji is very excited and he's kinda sad that Sanji didn't ask for it before. Zoro's been working on helping Sanji be less insecure about what he wants, helping him see that it's totally okay to want things because he deserves them, no matter what his traumas are telling him.

In the live-action "One Piece" adaptation, there's a brief confrontation in which Cabaji says that Zoro chased him and his brother through the jungles of Goa Kingdom or something. Which made me think IMMEDIATELY about an AU in which Zoro and Luffy meet early, when Luffy is around 15 or so and Zoro is around 17, sometime shortly after Ace has set out on his own adventure and Luffy is on his own.

So, like, imagine Zoro being this 17yo bounty hunter who thinks he's hot shit, people are starting to call him "THE Demon of East Blue". He gets one Cabaji brother but the other escapes, leaving Zoro injured and alone in the jungle (similar to the side wound that Zoro gets at Orange Town in the manga). It's getting dark, he has a corpse to drag back to a Marine base somewhere back in Goa Kingdom, and there are beasts here. He thinks he can see a tiger, stalking him in the bush.

And then some 15yo in a straw hat and shorts bounces out of the trees going, "WHOOOOOAAAAA, you're SO cool! I was watching your fight! You're amazing! You should join my pirate crew!" Like... what? (If there was a tiger, the tiger has fucking RUN FOR IT. It doesn't want to be EATEN.)

So, Luffy drags Zoro back to Dadan's place for medical aid ("YOU BROUGHT A BOUNTY HUNTER INTO MY HOUSE?!" Dadan yells, while her guys patch up this kid anyway) and politely introduces Zoro to Makino ("I'm not going to be your first mate, don't introduce me that way," Zoro says for the tenth time already). And Zoro ends up being convinced to stick around Dawn Island and Foosha Village to train for a month (and also to heal, but that's less persuasive), with Luffy following him around like a starry-eyed puppy the entire time, unless he's dragging Zoro off to fight beasts and each other in the jungle. Kicking the shit out of each other is a sign of FRIENDSHIP.

Seeing Luffy's burgeoning fighting skills is enough to make Zoro go, "Maybe this kid is alright," and hearing Luffy talk about dreams is the beginning of Zoro's doom. But he's not going to sign up until Luffy is more impressive! If Luffy wants him for his crew, he has to come find Zoro when he sets out on his own adventure. And Luffy agrees this is reasonable even if he's going to miss his new best friend sooooo badly.

Now, I'm a Zolu fan (ace-spectrum Luffy), so I like to imagine Zoro and Luffy having a really dorky teenage romance between future monsters here. If only because when Luffy and Nami bust into Captain Morgan's Marine Base, Luffy can go (after 2 years of having Makino keep track of Zoro in the newspapers), "Oh, my boyfriend is here!!! 😃 I wonder how much stronger he's gotten? I need to impress him so that he'll join my pirate crew!!!" And Nami and Koby can be like, "What the FUCK are you talking about?! The PIRATE HUNTER?! The demon who kills pirates?!" Luffy: "Yeah! ❤️"

Even better if Luffy has already gone to a couple different islands (with or without Koby), loudly going, "I'm going to be King of the Pirates! And also, HAS ANYONE SEEN MY BOYFRIEND?! He has green hair and three swords and he gets lost really easily!" Or maybe Luffy was just shouting this on Alvida's ship and around the town under Morgan's control? It doesn't really matter. It just has to be loud enough that Garp finally catches wind of this situation.

LawLu fic idea: Locker

Heavily inspired by the legends and myths of Davy Jones and how he's noted as the Devil of the Sea and the Reaper

Considering what happened to the Heart Pirates recently with Blackbeard and his crew, I thought of a fic idea where Law does the exact opposite to what other Devil Fruit users would do if they're thrown into the water

He stops rejecting the sea and lets himself drown, welcoming death not as an act of defiance but of acceptance to death itself

That awakens the Op-Op fruit into something else as its embraced by the sea. Something otherworldly, and that allows Law to accomplish what he sets out to do and that's to protect his crew from Blackbeard, no matter what. Even if that means welcoming death

Even if that means becoming Death himself

And now the very sea itself has become Law's domain, his ROOM -- the Locker of Oceanic Abyss which is his to rule, control and operate as he wishes

But with that, it also means his presence disappears which is picked up by a horrified Luffy via haki.

The Straw Hats may not have been there at Marineford but they're about to witness a breakdown that can very much rival that when Luffy suddenly falls to his knees screaming in shocked grief at losing someone who could've been his everything

A realization that came too little too late

Literal galaxy brain with @anniilaugh - one piece in space ✨ 🚀

Thoughts:

Space fruits, spaceships, space marines, space fish SPACE WHALES it would just visually be so pretty

Crazy planets with different atmospheres and new species and cultures and traditions and climates and foods and music! Funny culture clash moments-humans from the East Blue quarter are so odd! They drink milk from other animals! And let it FERMENT ?!? (Cheese is a wild concept for aliens)

Thousand Sunny as a dope ass spaceship and sunny is the AI entity of the ship even though it’s navigated by Nami and helmed by Jinbei of course (Merry their previous ship’s AI got irreparably damaged with the last ship and couldn’t be transferred sadly)

Franky (and crew) advocate for AI/droid rights

Space fruit users lose their power when out in actual space - ie on space walks

So many ships shenanigans and tech to think about- usopp pranks by turning off the artigrav? Codes the toothpaste bots so they change flavors to stupid things like bacon-

Sanji wants to find the All Blue Planet?

World Government is now an Intergalactic Alliance run by the Celestial Dragons who founded it millennia ago - planets in the Alliance have to pay tribute etc and if you don’t you’re not recognized as a sapient species/planet worth having rights
