I wanted to draw Tess from One Night. 🌊🌙
Thanks to the kind people who sent me a couple of screenshots, I eventually sketched some of them (traditionally) and decided to do something with this one.
One Night means a lot to me. It was deep, multilayered, authentic and as healing as it was triggering.
This fanart, I hope, isn't too obscure. I took a lot of time to reflect upon my choice of colours, shapes, effects and what I wanted to do.
I wanted it be fractured, "gitchy" but have some warm tones in the mix. Thus, the past, the present and the future are all there, weighing down on Tess but also pulling her up, her mind may appear fragile and fragmented, but there's healing at the surface, it's not out of reach. I hope her expression is peaceful.

Remembering when there was so much praise amongst both viewers and the press for One Night (especially Jodie Whittaker’s performance) particularly for how it handled complex relationships between women, between women and their bodies, etc. and then Paramount Plus was like, ‘fuck that, we don’t care’ and now you can’t watch it anywhere because they just removed it. I really hope it can find a new home because these kinds of stories are so important especially when executed with so much care and nuance as One Night.

Before I binged Good Omens 2, I also binged an Australian show called One Night! Jodie Whittaker acted her ass off in that show! I mean, that scene in episode 6 when she's listening to the recording and that scene right after that with Joey......i had tears running down my cheeks. It was just RAW, and she can just show so much emotion on her face! If you can find it, I highly RECOMMEND it!

You should be watching One Night on paramount+ it has a great cast of Jodie Whittaker, Nicole da Silva & Yael Stone. Three friends (including two who were romantically involved) who experienced something terrible one night when they were teenagers, and now as adults one of them has written a novel based on those events which brings back all of the terrible trauma and feelings they’d all buried deep (also Jodie’s Australian accent is impeccable)

Ugggh it was free but I had to download an adobe program just so I could download the book I legally paid for from google (also ugh) play just so I could put it on the ancient ass e-reader that'll get here soon. There's got to be an easier way to download the shit you've legally paid for without having to deal with proprietary bullshit, right? On top of all that, amazon (uggggggh) changed their DCRM this very year to something Calibre hasn't been able to crack, so all the books I legally bought from kindle can't be put on the e-reader at all, keeping me reliant on the app on my phone.
Kobo was created by Indigo Books but is now owned by Rakuten, so the Indigo company doesn't get anything if I buy e-books from kobo, right? I wanna say kobo and Barnes and noble/nook don't have bullshit like this for the books themselves, just their proprietary e-readers only allowing books from their services onto the devices themselves, which is why I opted not to get a kobo or nook in the first place
Anyway I hate this crap lol. Someone once stated that when you purchase an e-book (or any media, really) these days you don't own the book, you just rented out the privilege to read it, and that privilege can be revoked at any time. It's so fucking dumb. I don't hate technology I just hate how it evolved into such bullshit. It didn't have to be like this
