(So many things happened and I lost track of time but I managed to write some more stuff for the Unnamed Angsty Omori AU)

Because of Sunny's friends trying to see him his parents decide to come up with the 'genius' plan to imply it was actually Sunny's fault that Mari's dead. This combined with them mourning causes the group to splinter and stop trying to get to Sunny.

Due to Sunny being convinced he's the one at fault and his isolation his mental state deteriorates rapidly which causes the creation of Whitespace and Omori while having the side affect of giving him Black Space like hallucinations while awake.

Omori himself takes over the role Mari had in life to try help Sunny stay sane and potentially heal. He's similar to HS Mari and Hero with how he talks and Interacts with Sunny. The older sibling Sunny desperately needs.

By the time 4 years have passes he's disheveled, malnourished and weak. He would have withered away by now if not for Omori being stubborn and making Sunny take care of himself.

Despite being 15 he both looks younger and older than he actually is. Younger because of the mental and physical strain his parents put him under severely stunted his growth. Older because he's almost skeletal in appearance and has lost all of his baby fat from starvation.

He ends up wearing Mari's old clothes when he finally leaves the house for 3 reasons. To feel close to her again. To attempt to hide his physical state, and because her clothes were actually taken care of.

The group end up pretty similar to how they did in Canon but with the major difference of how Aubrey and Basil haven't had their relationship breakdown due to the Photo Album incident. They're still distant, but they don't Bully Basil and they do talk sometimes.

Sunny's parents end up going on a 3 day work trip and leave Sunny at home believing him too broken to try to run away.

When he does leave the house, he doesn't run into Kel, but instead Kim when walking past the Park and daydreaming. She begins to get upset when someone bumps into her but upon noticing it's this Tiny starving Kid she quickly helps him up and ends up dragging him to where some of her other friends are eating lunch.

This ends up going pretty well and the group end up hanging out with their new currently unnamed quiet friend for a few hours.

(Despite all the Angst there is a wholesome ending to this continuation. Depending on how well received this is I might write out how Sunny's old friends react to finally seeing him after 4 years. I now leave you with the mental image of Kim giving Sunny a side hug and trying to get him to eat some Pizza.)

This is great. Amazing. Showstopping. Phenomenal. Incredible. Jawdropping. I like this AU a lot. I demand more......!!! Now....!!!

gonna briefly rant about Tucker because I think he presents quite the... fascinating case regarding OMORI's handling of mental illness

The fact that he seems to exist purely for the sake of a "haha look at this nerd" joke aside, the game frames him as someone to gawk at and be disgusted by - his in-game name is "Creepy Guy", his manner of speech is inappropriately pretentious, his room is a mess, he's overweight and he believes Sweetheart is his wife even though she's just a fictional character in OMORI's world. It's pretty clear that the guy has no social skills whatsoever.

When compared with some of the game's other aspects, the framing presents a couple of issues.

1) Sunny is the exact same kind of person Tucker is. He spent 4 years rotting in his room and crafting an elaborate dream world in his own head. The dude canonically dreams about big-breasted tentacle women who talk of wanting to enslave him and make him their pet. Sunny, however, is treated as the Poor Little Baby the player is supposed to feel bad for because he's got Depression, while Tucker is treated as the stereotypical basement dweller who hasn't moved out yet. Why the double standard? Is it because Sunny is a cute anime teen while Tucker is a fat and immature adult? :)

2) On One Day Left, the player gets access to Aubrey's house, which looks very similar to Tucker's room but even more overrun with trash. Again, the game expects you to feel bad for Aubrey and how horrid her living conditions are despite previously framing Tucker's failure to keep his room clean as disgusting. Again, why the obvious difference in framing? Is it because Aubrey is a cute anime girl? :)

The game seems to inadvertently send the message that only people who look nice and attractive deserve to have their mental issues be taken seriously. If you're fat, spend most of your time in your room, and can't take care of yourself, you're a nerd who deserves to be mocked!

What a tactful and thoughtful approach to mental illness we've got here, wouldn't you say?

bandu:

so bandu is a fat transgender furry gamer youtuber (i can't make this up). but part of the fandom often makes him effeminate, clueless, nice, and overall one-note when in reality he's a chaos god shapeshifter from a higher dimension who has probably killed people but chooses to wear a fursuit and do mukbang challenges. the woobification probably happened in part because his sibling is even more powerful and ruthless than he is, so he became the fallguy for the "uwu innocent of the two siblings" trope when in reality he's the annoying gamer sibling trope, not the soft one. he's definitely kinder than his sister but he's not a perfect baby. i think he's also victim to the harmful "soft shy transmasc" trope as well, sadly.

basil:

You wouldn't be able to put this in the poll because it's a major spoiler, but Basil hung his friend's (Sunny's) sister's (Mari's) dead body when they were 12, and stabbed Sunny in the eye when they reunited 4 years later, sending Sunny to the hospital. Sunny is still haunted and traumatized by the image of Mari's body hanging, and their friend group suffered a lot from thinking she'd killed herself, and yet the fandom just ignores this entirely. Because Basil likes flowers and has anxiety, he's painted as this silly little uwu soft boy who deserves to be forgiven for The Accident just as much as Sunny does. I'm sorry, Sunny was arguing with Mari when he pushed her away, and she fell down the stairs and died. That's completely not his fault. Siblings push each other around all the time. He couldn't have expected that to happen. But actively choosing to hang the body of someone you were friends with??? Bro??? Who does that, let alone a 12 year old? How could their friends be okay with that? I would forgive Sunny, but I'd never speak to Basil again. People are scared of enjoying characters who aren't completely morally pure, and it's like… Dude. It's okay. You don't need to justify anything. Get your brain out of the Tiktok gutter.

I really love Basil's character, or I did; I really like his complexity and how he was written in canon, but the fandom has now, unfortunately, conditioned me into being severely irritated whenever I see his face. This entire take will get me nailed to a cross by the Omori community, but so be it.

the fandom is split on opinion but so many people babygirlify him,,,, i HATE it. he staged a death as a suicide and caused all his friends to have lotsa trauma and his best friend to lock himself away, and when his best friend came outta his house for the 1st time in FOUR WHOLE DAMN YEARS, Basil basically avoids him and either KILLS HIMSELF or RIPS HIS BEST FRIENDS EYE OUT!!!!! this kiddo AIN'T your innocent baby boy,,,, he's done BAD THINGS and you NEED to acknowledge it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO this may or may not have been an idea thats been knocking around in my head for a Fair While though so far ive only managed to finish kris and lancers concepts

I had no idea what to call this until recently but the title Determination Paradox came to mind and smth abt it just feels like a natural fit for what the basic plot entails

there's several sources of inspiration for this, like the tendency of fat characters in media to be portrayed as either goofy comic relief or demonized as disgusting slobs with little nuance or in-between, the what-if when a human with a red SOUL channels their determination into wanting to die, falling down a rabbit hole surrounding the jack playing card and french literature, wanting to make a story that celebrates the insanity and creativity only possible through pure fandom (or as i call it "true fanfic"), and the drought of chapters inflicting some serious brain rot on my head.

Jack Lancer

Lancer moved with his remaining family and Susie to Faraway Town just five days before his 17th birthday. Despite the macabre rumors and bad aura surrounding his new house, he's quick to warm up to Faraway and its human populace, though the strange jock next door is avoidant of him for reasons he doesn't yet know. His jolly face and kindness hide an ugly scar that continues to haunt him through moving day - and it is through the scar that he discovers the secret in the music room. He keeps a cracked pencil in his right pocket, though he doesn't remember who it belonged to.

Nave (AKA Omori)

This Omori is the remnants of Sunny's lingering soul and Lancer's insecurities and forgotten trauma fused into a new being after Lancer sleeps in Sunny's old room on his first night in Faraway. With his broken sword, he silently carries Lancer's pain after his failure to protect Sunny left him with no purpose. However, while his intents are noble, his methods are not exactly healthy...

Susie

Susie was taken in by the House of Cards as King Hathy's adoptive daughter and is Lancer's only remaining friend since childhood. Her hostile exterior masks a heroic and playful side only visible to those she trusts most, though she is also not above compassion and kindness when it's needed. She converted the treehouse in the backyard to her bedroom, as it makes her feel like a savage creature lurking in the woods.

Kris Dreemurr

Kris was the third friend in Lancer's group. They are not an active force in Nave or Susie's adventures, but they provide a place to shop and rest should the pair ever run short on supplies. It is said that Nave's sword once belonged to them, but an injury forced them to step down.

BUT GOD MISTY YOURE SO RIGHT THIS SONG IS SO STRANGER I can see it as him singing out to Sunny to some parts, and Omori in others, perhaps to both of them in a way. Also the lyrics "I tried, I tried, what did we expect? My dearest friend tell me when we shall make it end" kinda makes me think of the headcanon of him originally being dream Basil, and the dearest friend could be referring to Omori, technically his former friend by that point
