Yeah, some of the very best authors have opted to delete, and rightfully so--fanfic is a gift, and if people are gonna be assholes, well, then no gifts! And I fully support any author who makes that move. I tend to download my faves so I can read them later, it just means that when I go look for a bookmark, it's sad to see the whole "this fic was deleted" (paraphrasing) notification..thank god I jot down author and fic name! Anyway, I digress, you have an ask, and I have a rather lengthy answer that I'll put under the cut:

So yeah, I use collections for bookmarks, and two of them are all-stars, the greatest of the great, so this was a relatively easy ask to answer, thanks to past me. 2. what’s your total ao3 word count? 269,878. (but honestly that’s not super updated because oMaM is like… twice as long as what i have published on there lol. this also doesn’t include my older fics from Fanfiction.net and Wattpad which would easily give me another 150k)

3. what fandoms do you write for? mainly elder scrolls at the moment

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending not any of them really?? i’m a Happily Ever After kinda person. i mean i have one fic that’s a scene rewrite from Your Lie in April but it doesn’t actually change the canon outcome of the show which if you’ve seen it you’ll know it’s pretty “angsty” but i feel like that doesn’t count because i didn’t write that yknow

7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? as previously established i’m a big fan of HEAs. literally all of them lol. although bad habit certainly has a pretty cheesy ending

8. do you get hate on fics? i have but that was way before my ao3 days. i honestly can’t recall if any of my ao3 fics have gotten hate? people are pretty chill on there in my experience. Fanfiction.net is a whole other animal though

9. do you write smut? if so what kind? oh absolutely. i’m a sexually active adult and i tend to both read and write about sexually active adults so i feel like there’s really no surprise there

10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written? i have before but i’m not really a fan of them now, reading or writing. i wrote a superwholock fic in like, 2016, and that’s about it hahaha

16. what are your writing strengths? i like to think my prose is complicated enough to sound professional but not so over the top that my writing isn’t easily digestible. i feel like i can write dialogue pretty well too

17. what are your writing weaknesses? i feel like i have a problem with repeating myself lol. like i use the same conjunctions a lot. and i struggle with action/fight sequences but i feel like i’m getting better at those the more i write them (i didn’t write them at all really until i started writing TES fics)

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i mean. i feel like this is so situational. if the dialogue is crucial to the plot and it’s going to be a chore to make the average reader look up what it is? i don’t really care for it. but if it’s something off handed that doesn’t really change the plot or is more of a funny joke that a reader can get by either A) happening to speak the language or B) going out of their way to look it up and in that situation it’s more of a fun little bonus and not needed for them to understand the story beat that it’s a part of.

19. first fandom you wrote for? one piece. in 2013. lol

20. favorite fic you’ve written? i really really like somewhere the light won’t reach us. it’s a character study of a TES oc so it’s honestly closer to an original work than it is a fanfiction but i think it turned out really nice. i also think liebesfreud is a really good story and i'm in the process of making it into an original novel (with different character names obv)

That’s a great ask, thank you! You know what’s funny, despite being very much into music I struggle to connect songs to actual ships. They usually remind me of stories or specific fic dynamics instead of characters. The only ship I have a decent playlist for is Starker (MCU) but I can definitely make a top 5 for Drarry. Hello!!! Hope you don't mind the question, i've seen Of Mates and Men recommended many times since i joined this fandom (fairly recently), however it's a really long fic, longer than what im used to, so i wanted to ask you what things do you like about it? Like why do you recommend it, why should i read it or why is it worth it? Thanks have a good day :)

Hi!! I personally love long fics but I know that's not everyone's preference. Regardless, omam is 100% worth the read. It's so well written and the characterization, friendships, and relationships are just SO good. There's so much detail put into it that truly paints a beautiful picture. The characters go through so many real life, relatable issues and there's so many things Liam and Zayn go through while wedding planning such an extravagant wedding that I personally cannot relate to at all which made it so fun to read about.

I truly don't think there's a fic that exists where Harry and Louis love each other more than they do in this fic. Their relationship in this fic is a true definition of a partnership and picking someone supportive 🥲 and reading about it develop is so beautiful. There's just so much love in this fic through both relationships and friendships. I could go on forever but this fic truly takes you on a journey and I HIGHLY recommend it. You'll never want it to end!!!

✍️ What’s your ideal writing setup?

(Got this question on another post but I'll answer differently on both because why not)

I always write on my chromebook. Tab 1 is the document with the story on it. Tab 2 is the document with my ideas and notes. Tab 3 is youtube playing the designated playlist or song for the fic/chapter. Tab 4 is typically on the Ducktales wiki. Tab 5 is a fresh tab for me to type words into the search bar to spell check them but not actually hit enter because I don't want my search history to just be a list of words I was not confident in my spelling of so I just have to trust that the autofill had my back on that one.

As for the music, I make playlists for my multi-chapter fics. And then obviously the OMAM one(s) I end up listening to the album(s) while writing. As for Dream(s), I think I literally did just listen to Dreams by Fleetwood Mac because I really like that song. I used to go to sleep to it.

🐇 Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?

I've never really thought about it as one or the other. I guess it's more writing for myself than not. I'm of the mindset that I'll just write what I want to write and if people like it and read it or maybe even don't then that's cool. Not that I'm immune to the almighty numbers of course, but I don't think I'll ever write a story without wanting to do it if that makes sense. Like I'm not writing Beneath the Skin just because My Head is an Animal was well-received. It's because I personally wanted to continue the story, and also it helps that it got good feedback.

And also it's probably a psychological fact or whatever that when people get good feedback, it makes them feel better about the work they did. And getting that validation is pretty neat. But that's what posting on tumblr is for. I like to think I hold the actual writing I do to a higher standard than my silly hellsite posts.

💘 Is it easier to write angst or fluff?

I have a love/hate relationship with angst. Or should I call it a hurt/comfort relationship? Idk, words are weird.

I'm a huge hypocrite when it comes to this kind of stuff. I'll look at an angsty story or post and think "gosh that's awfully angsty for a disney kids show about the funny ducks" and decide that's not what I'm into because I like seeing my favorite characters be happy all the time forever like they deserve.

But then when I go to write my own stuff, it does get pretty angsty. I don't even realize it when I write it, because that's just where it ends up naturally. So in that regard it really is easier to do angst just in the sense that the conflict/plot/themes/reasons-for-the-story-to-exist are easier to come by.

On the other hand I've struggled lately writing because I don't want to get too angsty. I've already written some pretty tough stuff in my opinion, but I just don't want it to get too wrapped up in that to where I miss the point of writing the funny ducks. It's weird, and I'm working through it so hopefully it won't be a huge issue.

Basically, an ideal world would let me write the fluffiest fluff ever. But my insistence on there being a compelling narrative and character exploration makes angst so much more natural to write in service of that. I think that was my point? Idk

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?

I already gave an answer with Anna, but maybe.... fluff?

It's fun! gets me screaming giggling kicking my feet warm sort of way. I just prefer my fics with a dash of pain

3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?

That I right in bursts.

No longer going to escape this fact when it's been evident throughout 2023 (and even 2022). Things rarely take me "a long time" a chapter that takes me a month to write is just three weeks of doing nothing and 1 weeks of feverish writing

16. What were you go-to writing songs?

Hmm.... while a bit of a cliché Mitski's My Love Mine All Mine was actually a HUGE inspiration for A leaf in the wind is all I want

Other than that, you know that Of Monsters and Men are my go-to for lyrical inspiration and they've yet to fail me!

A lot of taylor swift but those are mostly vibes rather than straight up inspiration

18. What was the hardest fic to title?

I... don't care much about titles. A lot of them is either direct lyrics or something I come up with literally minutes before posting so yeah...

while not really 2023, but Black Water was the first and last time I stressed out about a fic title. Fun fact! It was very very almost named "let your colors bleed and blend with mine" for OMAM's Crystals (which is an indirect inspiration for BW as well you're welcome to analyze that but i'd advice against it) It was that title in the AO3 drafts right until the moment I posted the first chapter. Changed it last minute!

22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene

You know I love this one!

Black Water, Ch 20

Where the bedroom door stands half open, Armin is offered a peek into the space often kept private. There, Annie is sprawled on the bed and he gets why she didn’t need to burn into his reserve of firewood; she’s tucked under a pair of thick covers, one knitted and one woven, but she’s not clutching her arms and legs to her core; not bunching up the blankets to her chest because he’s not around to help her stay warm. From where he’s standing, Armin can see her chest rise and fall with predictable ease and he thinks he might miss winter once it’s fully gone, replaced with suffocating heat and humidity that wedge themselves between their bodies, forcing them to peel off blankets and minimize contact during their slumber. That’s a shame, for sure, but for now, he could stand in the door and count her breaths, in and out, until she stirs awake or maybe until the soles of his feet grow sore.
