Positively adore your art!! Thank you for sharing it!! Also, would you happen to know of any fics that sort of resemble your art style or ones that inspired it? I’m right there with you I love the basic vanilla vibe and I have been trying to find a decent fic to get into before I finish totk
thank you!!
Thank you so much for your kind words for my art
🙏 I greatly appreciate!🙏
I have a confession to make dear friend! I hadn't read fanfictions in several years but beating Totk made me go FERAL for Zelda material and explore what's been written since BotW came out.... oh boy the rabbit hole is deep!
There is a lot of good stuff out there but I have read so many fanfics in a short time that the whole thing is a blurry mess in my brain. BUT! There is one in particular that really stood out and left a lasting impression on me: Displaced written by socksock https://archiveofourown.org/works/21128084/chapters/50279321 It was originally written in 2018, before the release of TotK so there are some small and harmless inconsistencies that can easily be ignored because, duh, it was written BEFORE totk. I particularly liked this fanfic because it has all the qualities I'm looking for!! Also several key moments and general ideas in that story are extremely close to my own headcanon to the point it almost scared me. The story focuses on Zelda trying to find her place in post-calamity Hyrule. The characters are very well written and credible, Link's personality is player behavior accurate (MORE OF THAT PLEASE!!!!!!!!) and obsessed with completing his quests backlog and I thought it was amazing. Damn i love a player accurate Link!!
It's a wholesome slow burn romance, lots of humor, it's sexy, does not take itself too seriously but can be very emotional at times. Also, I was amazed by one scene in particular....I don't want to spoil anything for you, but the Big Damn Kiss moment is *CHEF KISS*: the setting, the tone and the resolution HSGDKJS, I would've slow clapped if i could've (I was holding my phone lol)
Reading that scene, I thought to myself : F*** YES! This person gets it hahaha !!
Tumblr media
My own Zelink Big Damn First Kiss moment shares a lot of similarities with that fic so, Im going to say it now: when 'll post the Zelink first kiss i'm currently crafting, be sure to know that Socksock and their fic Displaced did something in the same general vibe FIRST! They are awesome. I hope i answered your question haha Have a great day!

Paint Me, Touch Me, Taste Me.
Muse! Jing Yuan x Painter! Reader
As a skilled painter, you had little inspiration for your paintings. The only inspiration you got was from your muse, you called him Yuan but his name was Jing Yuan. Your muse was playful, he was an interesting man. He often gave you interesting poses for you, he was probably interested in keeping his job just to be naked for you to paint.
Every stroke of your brush made you feel more invested in your muse.
You sometimes felt your muse sneak away from his position, he would take your arm and make you touch his chest and more inappropriate places. He told you it was "feeling art in its truest form," and he also told you that "you need to have art at all angles." He made you feel shy, he wasn't someone very closed-minded. You two were beyond mutual trust so it was ok.
Jing Yuan was mysterious, his personal life was a mystery to you. The vigor of a painter that had a good standing with your brand and style didn't care what the background was for a muse as long as they weren't a criminal or have any real stains on their record. A man who was keen on you feeling his body for your work was oddly poetic and intriguing for you.
You liked using vermillion and viridian as common tones for Jing Yuan, usually for the cloth or contours of his skin. The most time consuming was a painting of him with a sabre crushing a globe while holding a lighter.
At this point, you put down your palette and took a break out of being stumped for more ideas. The muse walked up to you with little sound apparent, coming up to you to give a soft kiss on your head. Though no words were spoken, you understood. His talk about "romance is strong in gestures," was coming through all the while. He'd been so mysterious and charming that you had figured out what he meant by the time he was now saying all that time.
"Take a break. Those passionate eyes seem so drowsy from staring and focusing, that artwork is true beauty...just like it's subject and creator." Jing Yuan spoke softly in a sultry tone. The man urged you to sit with him, on him, while he sat in the chair. Seeing the chance right there, you took it. He immediately lifted your chin to examine your face. "Hmm, a shade of baby pink is your natural blush, your eyes have a thin chrome pattern like a circular ruler, and your lips a perfect dewy nude. Very nice of the heavens to sculpt and breathe life into a face like this..." He whispered and then kissed you while rubbing your thigh.
"Tasty, as if a tea was coated naturally on your lips. Oh my star, all you need to do is get a hands on experience. I have seen you wanting to be more romantic in your paintings, just trust in me and you will get some inspiration." He rubbed your thigh and kissed you with passion slowly in between some mutters. "Lemon...ultramarine...florescent...jade..." The sweetness of his tongue made you think, new shades, angles, props, and more.
However, your paintbrush wouldn't be picked up until the next morning...but your legs were coated white, but not with paint but it was a work of passion.
Nsfw : you've been warned :3
Jing Yuan started with little kisses to your neck after that kiss. He took you out of your art studio and threw you onto the couch. Jing Yuan had been quite rough, yet he was soft in many ways like those whispers to you. "I'm going to be the painter now sweet dear, I'll paint your thighs and maybe your walls white like loose samples dripping off a canvas after the first stroke." Jing Yuan whispered those sweet nothings so softly while practically yanking your pants and underwear off.
"Prepare yourself, I'll be soft with the first strokes but they'll become more...per say...detailed...." Jing Yuan's nature was a fluctuating string of ideas to say. As he slid himself in he kept to his word for only three "strokes" before starting to go at a ravenous pace with few inconsistent rhythms to keep you on edge. The rhythms would be like an accelerated heartbeat to like pulling a wire that ricochets slighty to like a car horn in a parking lot.
This tactics were used by him moving youvand himself constantly, the breathless moans from you were unending as Jing Yuan kept up what he did so sweetly. As precum rolled down his thigh, the rhythms became sloppily as he pushed you into the couch before your juices came out on him. He firmly pressed against you as his trobbing member had painted your walls white.
You were his muse just as much as he was yours.

Digimon Adventure 02 (Blind Watch) - Episode 36
Another filler episode disguised as an important episode. They seriously spent way too much time focused on soup and just nonsense dialogue. Also, I was tempted to time the transformation sequences because they wasted so much time with them this episode. They even did that insulting thing where Tailmon digivolved to Nefertimon and then instantly de-digivolved to do a Jogress with Aquilamon. What was the point? -_-
They're lucky I like anime food. Also, Shakkoumon's design is good.
Digimon introduced: Tapirmon, Shakkoumon
Notes:
-The weird heavily-lined art style is back! I don't hate it, it's just kind of distracting
Tumblr media
(Look at those eyelashes!)
-Archnemon and Mummymon become goofier with each episode. I saw someone else on tumblr compare their dynamic to Yzma and Kronk, which is pretty accurate.
-Why does Mummymon have a "human form" when his human form doesn't even look like a human? He has grey skin and shark-like teeth...what's the point? (Kind of just noticed this)
-The Chinatown thing reminded me of a gag in Hetalia where they were saying no matter where you go a Chinatown will just spring up out of nowhere. Kinda cracks me up that there's one even in the digital world. (Like...digimon don't even have nationalities right? Hmmm)
-Both in the dub and the sub they were like "oh Chinese soup!~" which is weird to me for two reasons: 1. I know ramen originated in China, but in America we consider it strictly Japanese food 2. If this were made today, they would have just called it ramen, but I guess ramen hadn't become super popular yet. I feel like I wasn't really aware of its existence in the 90s/early 2000s, but maybe that's just because I'm white lol
-Tapirmon/Bakumon is cute. Now I want to recruit him in Digimon World 2 lol
-Why was one of the Holy Points a hot spring made of broth...why is there a hot spring made of broth in general?
-There's one point in the episode where the kids are fighting with Archnemon and Mummymon and then the latter two just randomly de-digivolve and run off? I watched the scene twice and still don't know why that happened. They even comment on it in the dub like "What just happened?? Oh well!" lol
-Mummymon was even more of a punching bag then usual this time around. I don't really care for that kind of humor, especially in a kid's show. It's just kind of unfunny and uncomfortable. (Especially knowing he likes it lol)
-All the bits about the Shakkoumon jogress digivolution were super cute! Takeru and Iori supporting one another and then hugging in excitement when they finally did it. They also showed Patamon and Armadimon guessing what their Jogress name would be. I really like Shakkoumon's design but it feels really inconsistent. Shakkoumon is clearly based on an ancient statue but Paildramon and Silphymon are mash-ups of their predecessors. That's kind of unfortunate, I feel like they should have done one or the other.
-The preview was like "Will they win the climactic battle??" and I'm just like "DEAR GOD FINALLY" (Although it could be a fake out so I won't get my hopes up).
-So I know Mummymon's crush on Archnemon is unrequited but it got me thinking about love between digimon. So far digimon have been portrayed as asexual and there haven't really been any mentions of digimon families either. I wonder if that will be explored at some point or...?

27.01. 01:35 | Ilo Pisara vs Prowlers 5 - 4
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let's break down the circus of a hockey game that just unfolded before our very eyes. Ilo Pisara versus Prowlers ended in a nail-biting 5-4 victory for us – but not without its share of drama! First off, Teppo Winnipeg was out there looking like he confused the rink with an art gallery because he painted some masterpieces on ice tonight! With two goals and two assists, this puck-moving Picasso had more points than my last diet had cheat days. Yuri Tarde between the pipes... well, let's say if saving pucks were relationships, we'd be considering couples therapy. A save percentage barely clinging to life at .69? Yuri needs to catch more rubber than a tire factory next time. Macho Fantastico – oh boy! Ten giveaways? Really? If I wanted to see that many gifts handed out willy-nilly I would've parked myself outside Santa’s workshop come December! And then there's Jani Saari - part magician with those three goals including the winner; part philanthropist giving away twelve pucks like they're going out of style. But hey—five points make him today’s MVP despite treating possession like it’s hot lava. So what do we take from this rollercoaster ride disguised as a hockey match? We’re inconsistent geniuses: capable of brilliance yet flirting dangerously close with disaster. Let's tighten up those laces (and defense) or risk being known as "I Love Drama" instead of Ilo Pisara! Onward team—to less heart attacks for your dear general manager next game!

The song Permanent Heartbreak by The Friday Night Boys always makes me think of Jared so I drew him listening to it (Basically every song makes me think of Jared but this one actually works lol)
Some lyrics that I think apply to Jared:
Were you only using me to try to get him back? / You set me up and that was my mistake / And all I got was permanent heartbreak Jared's verse in gfy is about being played and getting crushed and left behind, which is pretty much what this permanent heartbreak lyric is saying
And you're with him / It pisses me off that you’re A-Okay The entirety of gfy is about being pissed that everything's working out for Evan
And all that I've got is permanent heartbreak He's heartbroken. Like a helpless, heartbroken little kid.
This song is also a slightly sarcastic or tongue in cheek song about unrequited love and Jared can relate to that

Everyone loves reading art explanation so here's a free ticket to talk about the details you drew and no one pointed out!
OOOOOOO man okay. okay. I'm going to talk a bit about where is your rider :)
1) I actually fucked up Jimmy's character design LMAO the one time I properly drew his chest, I gave him an A instead of an S
Tumblr media
2) the opening montage contains every player! I decided to draw their hands, which connects to Martyn's role as the hand of the king; the hands are all either doing or showing something representative of their connection to dogwarts (ex. Cleo shushing/keeping a secret, Impulse holding an arrow), or their general role in the series (Bdubs building the crastle, Scott putting on a flower crown).
3) the song, "where is your rider", is from the oh hellos' album dear wormwood. the whole album is actually an extended narrative, and I cannot recommend it enough! "where is your rider" itself actually has a first part, "pale white horse" - in pale white horse, the narrator exists in a war, surrounded by destruction, and yet the only thing that terrifies them is when they see death (one of the horsemen of the apocalypse) and realize his face is familiar. "where is your rider", then, is the triumphant confrontation - it describes how evil and death are being conquered. the oh hellos Love biblical allusions and religious music, so "where is your rider" is basically about jesus conquering death. which... to be fair, in third life ren DID rise again!
4) in the frame "the armies of night", the current thumbnail, bigb is shown with the moon behind his head. the next time we see bigb hes shown with a halo of green behind his head - the moon was placed to make sure bigb contrasted against the night sky, but also he technically got a halo both times because he was the only player left green in week 8. it's to suggest that maybe theres a power or holiness in being green still and bigb is the only one with it left.
5) ren is naked in the altar scene, which is biblically accurate. I gave him his cloak for a bit more modesty, but I did have to apply some anime-style smoke censorship. no, I did not draw renis underneath the smoke layer
Tumblr media
6) these arent clouds, they're phantoms! its a nod to how the phantoms were swarming and attacking during the whole altar sequence. the moon is also full because martyn points out how it's full at the beginning of the scene; the moon ended up being a recurring theme in last life for ren and martyn, so it's kinda funny to see the moon so prevalent in this video (between this frame and the frame of the zombie horde)
7) speaking of which.. what is up with moons? where is your rider and 3rd life had brief moon imagery, then last life had a moon cult. my video when you're an addams had prominent moon imagery and then hermitcraft had a moon apocalypse and a moon cult. wtf is up with that
Tumblr media
8) some people have recognized this frame as the netherite sword, but it's not 😭 this is the skizz blade! its implied here to be cursed, or have some kind of energy or power in it - that being both enchantment and ren's grief for skizz; its then immediately followed, of course, by ren's "the blood is dripping in me eyes!" speech
9) the one time scar's face is visible (when hes in silhouette), he deliberately has a face similar to the vex!
Tumblr media
10) this scene is ren's final speech to the red army before they die at the battle of dogwarts - standing on the bridge outside etho's burned castle, ren confesses that he cant go down without a fight and proposes they storm dogwarts. and he says that they'll have a drink together in Valhalla. like that still fucks me up bro, they knew they were going to die and they did it anyway.
11) when they're climbing the walls of dogwarts, only ren, martyn, and etho are visible - that's a nod to bigb suggesting they burrow under the walls instead of going over
12) my character designs are kinda inconsistent because I didnt really have character designs for most of these guys before making this video, and I rarely go back and fix frames after I draw them, so sometimes you'll notice errors like martyn not having the design on his t shirt, me not knowing how ethos mask/rens glasses work, bigb's hair being different lengths both times I drew him, etc.
that's what I'll say :D

sasha sat alone, against the dark, grim, gray walls of a prison cell. it was familiar, in a nostalgic, almost ironic sort of way- the way she sat on the opposite side of the bars so she could go home, a parallel to how she sat caged once she got here.
she stared through the bars at the big blue monster before her, his head tipped up to stare at the high, high ceiling with a broken, twisted grin. she sharpened her sword with a rock, angrily, staring and staring, as screams and grunts echoed around them from other areas in the castle.
“this must be a new pace for you.” his voice boomed and grumbled like a giddy avalanche— caged or not, he remained crazy.
“don’t talk to me.” sasha snapped back.
his laugh shook the hall they were in, echoing down the hallway with the sound of the fighting overhead.
“no need to be— how do you kids put it? salty, my dear. you’ve already trapped me! what am i going to do to you but simply hold conversation?”
sasha didn’t reply, but let her sword drop to her side with an irritated clatter.
silence fell between them for a moment.
“do you think she’s winning?” he said, almost quietly. for him, quiet still sounded like thunder.
“of course she is.”
“all by herself up there?”
“by herself? she’s got the entirety of amphibia with her. she’s got the frogs, who love her, the toad army— who love me— and your newt army, who just simply hates you.”
“that’s nothing, against a god.”
“that thing is no god.”
“that thing?” he turned his head to look at her, eyes wild. “you mean marcy?”
sasha jerked up, growling at him with nothing more than contempt. “that thing isn’t marcy, it is in marcy. some— weird— monster you created and decided to worship! and anne’s going to get it out, and then we’re all going to go home and the entirety of amphibia is going to want to watch you die for pleasure, knowing you’re the one who destroyed your own home to conquer— what? what was your goal? more amphibias? universes full of people who hate you and your ‘g-‘?”
andrias interrupted with a long, loud, rumbling yawn. sasha flushed with anger, hurtling one of her daggers out of her boot and at him. it lodged neatly into his shoulder, and he let out a pained, wild laugh.
“what a child.”
“i’m not a child!”
“of course you are. you think you get to just go home after this. you think you’ve already won.”
“of course we have! we’ve got you! we’ve got three armies! anne still has the power of the ge-“
“anne, anne, anne. so what if she wins? you still lose. you think you just get to go home after this? go back to normal? she’ll never trust you again. you, who betrayed her twice? marcy, who dragged her here and got herself killed? you think you’ll just go back to being best friends and frolicking around school again, having parties and forgetting this ever happened?”
he paused, let it sink in. “she’s going to hate you forever.”
“we’ll figure it out.”
“figure what out? how to get over months worth of trauma and betrayal?”
“yes! we’ll figure. it. out! end of discussion! now- shut up!”
he laughed. and laughed and laughed, bending over with a pained groan as he leaned into his injured shoulder. sasha turned away, trying to block it out.
he finally whispered a response, voice full of hatred and amusement,
“oh, sasha. there is no ‘figuring it out’ when it comes to one’s true colors.”
—————————————————
man this sounded a lot more interesting in my head but i still wanted to post for true colors so hERE IT IS
anyway this is like s3 shit i guess
also true colors spoilers
also the only consistency in my art style is inconsistent art style

Why I’m Cautiously Optimistic for Batman: Urban Legends
Tumblr media
So this is a spoiler review of Batman: Urban Legends and the story between Jason Todd and Bruce Wayne that was introduced to us yesterday.
For those who don’t know, I like Jason Todd and The Red Hood. A lot. However being a Red Hood fan has been frustrating to say the least. He’s one of the most inconsistently written characters in the DCU. Prior to the New 52 and Rebirth. Red Hood was pretty much a straight-up villain. However under Scott Lobdell (for better or for worse) we got Red Hood and the Outlaws. Which transformed Jason from villain to Anti-Hero with varying shades of tropes from Sociopathic Hero at worst to Knight in Sour Armor at best.
Tumblr media
I am in no way trying to say that Jason is a bad character. I’d say he truly is my favorite DC Comics character. However a large portion of it comes from Lobdell’s portrayal of a bitter anti-hero trained by the deadliest assassins in the world coming off of a failed revenge attempt against his former parental guardian. To learning to mellow out a bit and still be a hero, but keep his deadly tactics.
It’s hypocritical to say that I dislike the fact that Jason kills people.  Quite graphically and brutally mind you. Call it disturbing but that’s what a lot of people like about him. However what has caused a large rift between the DC Fans and Jason Todd is the fact that a lot of the time his foot is halfway in the anti-hero door, halfway trying to warm up to Bruce and the Batman. The problem with the later being Lobdell’s obsession with making Jason teeter between wanting to be on Bruce’s good side, reverting back to what he does best, which is kill, harm, and maim, and Bruce proceeding to hunt him down and beat Jason to within an inch of his life.
Tumblr media
It’s just as infuriating for us the readers as it is for the character. What I think fans would appreciate is if Jason were to just leave Batman, stay with the Outlaws, and be his own team. Helping Bruce out occasionally but letting Jason do his own thing. Or to have Bruce fully accept Jason as he is. Which, while is something that sounds nice, but thematically makes little to no sense considering the fact that Jason has done horrific things. Including but not limited to..
- Having been confirmed to have killed EIGHTY THREE PEOPLE (83). And this was at the beginning of OUTLAWS. That number has most certainly gone up.
- Tortured a drug dealer to death by injecting them with bleach.
- In Under the Red Hood, he decapitated the middle ranking members of the highest crime bosses in Gotham. (And from the shocked looks on their faces, it seems as though Jason started the decapitation process when they were alive)
- Regularly attempted to harm/if not kill Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne in some earlier comics.
- Tormented Mia Darden (Speedy) in Seeing Red about her past about being a sex worker and being homeless in her youth in a way to try to get her to join him. When she refuses Jason proceeds to blow up her school. Yikes.
- In Last Crusade he killed a mook by Crushing their head in with a car door. Oh and he did that AS ROBIN.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m fully aware a lot of those deeds were erased by the Rebirth/New 52. However it’s clear to see why Bruce, while probably does still care and support Jason. He absolutely cannot let Jason run around unchecked in his eyes.  That’s why I think it’s unlikely given the events of how Under the Red Hood transpired, Jason in his current state would ever truly and fully be welcomed back into the Bat Family.
Okay LeonicScorpio, this is great and all, but this is supposed to be a post about Batman Urban Legends, you tell me. Well, my dear reader, I shall now get to it. I was setting up the fact that Jason, while he is heroic and has done heroic things, he also is someone who once reveled in violence, causing pain and suffering, and still has a core philosophy in believing killing people based on certain crimes is allowable. (SPOILERS FOR BATMAN: URBAN LEGENDS BELOW)
Chip Zdarsky has done a fantastic job in introducing Jason in this side story. A new drug is sweeping across Gotham. Jason encounters a situation far too similar to his own upbringing. An overdosed mother and a sad crying boy confused. Jason takes the boy named Tyler and promises to protect him.
Tumblr media
While I’m on the fence about Eddy Barrows’s take on Jason style wise. You cannot understate the symbolism of his art in this shot. Jason Todd, the same one who came back from the dead and decapitated men when they were alive and reveled in causing pain, comforting a child when they were afraid in a genuine way is something a lot of the fanon has wanted for a long time. However Barrow’s art style gives a sense of uneasiness to the heroic-ness of Jason. Almost as if Jason is unsure of himself. It’s twisted in that it’s both dark but heroic.
Things come to a head when Jason realizes Tyler’s father is probably a drug pusher in Gotham. And when he does finally catch up to the boy’s father. He does take a non-violent approach to trying to get Tyler’s father to turn around (Rubber bullets to the leg. Jason is trying.) However upon trying to reason with Tyler’s father Jason learns that his father was giving the drug to his mother and his son as a means of keeping them controlled. And that Tyler’s father doesn’t give a damn about his family.
Tumblr media
Now what do we know about Jason? He kills those who gives drugs to children and parents of children. So what comes next is very on-brand of Jason. Hell I wasn’t even shocked by Jason’s reaction to this at all.
Tumblr media
What happens after is what I’ve wanted to write for the longest time. Jason realizes that he’s just killed Tyler’s father. Even if his father didn’t care and was outright abusive towards him. He still killed his father. And Jason stops and drops to his knees because he realizes what he’s done. When I read that my reaction was literally the Jeff Goldblum “You did it, you crazy son of a bitch you did it.” I love Jason but I’ve wanted a story where Jason has to face the consequences of his philosophy and actions. Jason does want to be good and make a difference. But by killing Jason has dug himself into a hole he cant easily bury himself out of.
So long story short Batman Urban Legends should have all of your attentions.

Meta Knight in the Dimensional Mirror
This one was largely inspired by Rinyo the 35th’s Dear Doppelgänger mv on YouTube. Go check it out! It’s super cool and is a creative format for telling the story of Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (and the art style is so good oh my god)
Anyways, my Meta design is always so inconsistent, I drew a tunic for this to have the cool flaring out effect but later when I drew him again I really disliked the tunic. Oh well

Oh dear, actually looking at their art now, it does seem like they're style is quite inconsistent, I'll try to get rid of any of the art I've reblogged from them, thank you for letting me know!

Superman’s 10 Best of the ‘10s
Tumblr media
Good Miracle Monday, folks! The first third Monday of May of a new decade for that matter, and while that means that today in the DC Universe Superman just revealed his secret identity to the world on the latest anniversary of that time he defeated the devil, in ours it puts a capstone on a solid 10 years of his adventures now in the rear view mirror, ripe for reevaluation. And given there’s a nice solid ‘10′ right there I’ll go ahead with the obvious and list my own top ten for Superman comics of the past decade, with links in the titles to those I’ve spoken on in depth before - maybe you’ll find something you overlooked, or at least be reminded of good times.
A plethora of honorable mentions: I’m disqualifying team-ups or analogue character stories, but no list of the great Superman material of the last decade would be complete without bringing up Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye #7, Avengers 34.1, Irredeemable, Sideways Annual #1, Supreme: Blue Rose, Justice League: Sixth Dimension, usage of him in Wonder Twins, (somewhat in spite of itself) Superior, from all I’ve heard New Super-Man, DCeased #5, and Batman: Super Friends. And while they couldn’t quite squeeze in, all due praise to the largely entertaining Superman: Unchained, the decades’ great Luthor epic in Superman: The Black Ring, a brilliant accompaniment to Scott Snyder’s work with Lex in Lex Luthor: Year of the Villain, the bonkers joy of the Superman/Luthor feature in Walmart’s Crisis On Infinite Earths tie-in comics, Geoff Johns and John Romita’s last-minute win in their Superman run with their final story 24 Hours, Tom Taylor’s quiet criticism of the very premise he was working with on Injustice and bitter reflection on the changing tides for the character in The Man of Yesterday, the decades’ most consistent Superman ongoing in Bryan Miller and company’s Smallville Season 11, and Superman: American Alien, which probably would have made the top ten but has been dropped like a hot potato by one and all for Reasons. In addition are several stories from Adventures of Superman, a book with enough winners to merit a class of its own: Rob Williams and Chris Weston’s thoughtful Savior, Kyle Killen and Pia Guerra’s haunting The Way These Things Begin, Marc Guggenheim and Joe Bennett’s heart-wrenching Tears For Krypton, Christos Gage and Eduardo Francisco’s melancholy Flowers For Bizarro, Josh Elder and Victor Ibanez’s deeply sappy but deeply effective Dear Superman, Ron Marz and Doc Shaner’s crowdpleasing Only Child, and Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine DeLandro’s super-sweet Mystery Box.
10. Greg Pak/Aaron Kuder’s Action Comics
Tumblr media
Oh, what might’ve been. In spite of an all-timer creative team I can’t justify listing this run any higher given how profoundly and comprehensively compromised it is, from the status quo it was working with to the litany of ill-conceived crossovers to regular filler artists to its ignominious non-ending. But with the most visceral, dynamic, and truly humane take on Clark Kent perhaps of all time that still lives up to all Superman entails, and an indisputably iconic instant-classic moment to its name, I can’t justify excluding it either.
9. Action Comics #1000
Tumblr media
Arguably the climax to the decade for the character as his original title became the first superhero comic to reach a 1000th issue. While any anthology of this sort is a crapshoot by nature, everyone involved here seemed to understand the enormity of the occasion and stepped up as best they could; while the lack of a Lois Lane story is indefensible, some are inevitably bland, and one or two are more than a bit bizarre, by and large this was a thoroughly charming tribute to the character and his history with a handful of legitimate all-timer short stories.
8. Faster Than A Bullet
Tumblr media
Much as Adventures of Superman was rightfully considered an oasis amidst the New 52′s worst excesses post-Morrison and in part pre-Pak, few stories from it seem well-remembered now, and even at the time this third issue inexplicably seemed to draw little attention. Regardless, Matt Kindt and Stephen Segovia’s depiction of an hour in the life of Superman as he saves four planets first thing in the morning without anyone noticing - while clumsy in its efforts at paralleling the main events with a literal subplot of a conversation between Lois and Lex - is one of the best takes I can recall on the scope on which he operates, and ultimately the purpose of Clark Kent.
7. Man and Superman
Tumblr media
Seemingly geared on every front against me, built as it was on several ideas of how to handle Superman’s origin I legitimately hate, and by a writer whose work over the years has rarely been to my liking, Marv Wolfman and Claudio Castellini’s Man and Superman somehow came out of nowhere to be one of my favorite takes on Clark Kent’s early days. With a Metropolis and characters within it that feel not only alive but lived-in, it’s shocking that a story written and drawn over ten years before it was actually published prefigured so many future approaches to its subject, and felt so of-the-moment in its depiction of a 20-something scrambling to figure out how to squeeze into his niche in the world when it actually reached stores.
6. Brian Bendis’s run
Tumblr media
Controversial in the extreme, and indeed heir to several of Brian Bendis’s longstanding weaknesses as a writer, his work on The Man of Steel, Superman, and Action Comics has nevertheless been defined at least as much by its ambition and intuitive grasp of its lead, as well as fistfuls of some of the best artistic accompaniment in the industry. At turns bombastic space action, disaster flick, spy-fi, oddball crime serial, and family drama, its assorted diversions and legitimate attempts at shaking up the formula - or driving it into new territory altogether, as in the latest, apparently more longterm-minded unmasking of Clark Kent in Truth - have remained anchored and made palatable by an understanding of Superman’s voice, insecurities, and convictions that go virtually unmatched.
5. Strange Visitor
Tumblr media
The boldest, most out-of-left-field Superman comic of the past 10 years, Joe Keatinge took the logline of Adventures of Superman to do whatever creators wanted with the character and, rather than getting back to a classic take absent from the mainline titles at the time as most others did, used the opportunity for a wildly expansive exploration of the hero from his second year in action to his far-distant final adventure. Alongside a murderer’s row of artists, Keatinge pulled off one of the few comics purely about how great Superman is that rather than falling prey to hollow self-indulgence actually managed to capture the wonder of its subject.
4. Superman: Up In The Sky
Tumblr media
And here’s the other big “Superman’s just the best” comic the decade had to offer that actually pulled it off. Sadly if reasonably best-known for its one true misfire of a chapter, with the increasing antipathy towards Tom King among fans in general likely not helping, what ended up overlooked is that this is a stone-cold classic on moment of arrival. Andy Kubert turns in work that stands alongside the best of his career, Tom King’s style is honed to its cleanest edge by the 12-pager format and subject matter, and the quest they set their lead out on ends up a perfect vehicle to explore Superman’s drive to save others from a multitude of angles. I don’t know what its reputation will end up being in the long-term - I was struck how prosaic and subdued the back cover description was when I got this in hardcover, without any of the fanfare or critic quotes you’d expect from the writer of Mister Miracle and Vision tackling Superman - but while its one big problem prevents me from ranking it higher, this is going to remain an all-timer for me.
3. Jeff Loveness’s stories Help and Glasses
Tumblr media
Cheating shamelessly here, but Jeff Loveness’s Help with David Williams and Glasses with Tom Grummett are absolutely two halves of the same coin, a pair of theses on Superman’s enduring relevance as a figure of hope and the core of Lois and Clark’s relationship that end up covering both sides of Superman the icon and Superman the guy. While basically illustrated essays, any sense of detached lecturing is utterly forbidden by the raw emotion on display here that instantly made them some of the most acclaimed Superman stories of the last several years; they’re basically guaranteed to remain in ‘best-of’ collections from now until the end of time.
2. Superman Smashes The Klan
Tumblr media
A bitter race for the top spot, but #2 is no shame here; while not quite my favorite Superman story of the past ten years, it’s probably the most perfectly executed. While I don’t think anyone could have quite expected just *how* relevant this would be at the top of the decade, Gene Yang and Gurihiru put together an adventure in the best tradition of the Fleischer shorts and the occasional bystander-centered episodes of Batman: The Animated Series to explore racism’s both overt and subtle infections of society’s norms and institutions, the immigrant experience, and both of its leads’ senses of alienation and justice. Exciting, stirring, and insightful, it’s debuted to largely universal acknowledgement as being the best Superman story in years, and hopefully it’ll be continued to be marketed as such long-term.
1. Grant Morrison’s Action Comics
Tumblr media
When it came time to make the hard choice, it came in no small part down to that I don’t think we would have ever seen a major Golden Age Superman revival project like Smashes The Klan in the first place if not for this. Even hampering by that godawful Jim Lee armor, inconsistent (if still generally very good) art, and a fandom that largely misunderstood it on arrival can’t detract from that this is Grant Morrison’s run on a Superman ongoing, a journey through Superman’s development as a character reframed as a coherent arc that takes him from Metropolis’s most beaten-down neighborhoods to the edge of the fifth dimension and the monstrous outermost limits of ‘Superman’ as a concept. It launched discussions of Superman as a corporate icon and his place relative to authority structures that have never entirely vanished, introduced multiple all-time great new villains, and made ‘t-shirt Superman’ a distinct era and mode of operation for the character that I’m skeptical will ever entirely go away. No other work on the character this decade had the bombast, scope, complexity, or ambition of this run, with few able to match its charm or heart. And once again, it was, cannot stress this enough, Grant Morrison on an ongoing Superman book.

When you were developing your own unique style (which, btw, i adore) what were some of your inspirations? Which artists did you study and what kind of tutorials did you use to springboard off of?
Oh that’s so sweet of you!!Oh dear so this is gonna be very long, so I’ll put a little ‘keep reading” thing so this isn’t a whole book on yalls’ dash. xD(EDIT i dont think it worked and im too lazy to fix it so sufferrrr)
So growing up, and as a VERY young child I gathered quite a few art books, most of them anime based. I think through middle school and maybe freshmen year of high school I did have a lot of inspiration from Manga like styles mainly from artbooks that I just so happened to get over the years. However, I did always have a draw to style that were similar to Disney, but not as perfect, if that makes any sense? I remember having a Deviantart, and there there was artist under Pookadoodle. I adored their work and always wanted my style to shift from a not so great anime style to something that what I could best describe at the time as “Disney, but way more creative”. I loved it when artist really push character expression, make a nose big or someone ridiculously square and short. for years I tried shifting my style into something like it, even more expressive, but never did because I wanted to develop my own style at the same time. Sometimes it made things even more frustrating because my style was INCREDIBLY inconsistent. (Here’s some arts as far back as 2014 to 2017, using pictures of an oc I’ve drawn over the years)2014:
Tumblr media
2015:(lmbo my art got worse in some spots)
Tumblr media
2015 Honerable mention (I DREW GF BEFORE I EVEN WATCHED THE SHOW?? IT WAS A REQUEST):
Tumblr media
2016:
Tumblr media
2017:
Tumblr media
From this point forward, is when I started drawing an absolute unhealthy amount of GF, and I started putting my art on Tumblr. xDIf you want to see more of my older stuff (tho some of it is hidden lmbo), check out my rankin’ old DA here. From here I started taking college level classes and so my artwork improved immensely, but it still wasn’t quite what I wanted? I felt that my character design was bland, not enough of that body and design variation that I wanted? So overtime I began to discover artists that were leaning in the direction of the art style that I always craved. Some examples that I can think of on top of my head that really inspire me today are:Tom BoothSam Nassour(And so many that I can’t remember right now, but I’ve got a huge pinterest folder with art that inspires me art style wise and what not here)AS FOR TOOTERAL DO I HAVE THE THING FOR YOUI have SO MANY REFS that I have used over the years literally through pinterest and I have 90% of it organized into folders and such on thereHere’s my tooteral folder, in it are subboards that are labeled pertaining to what they teach you about!!!I hope this answered your question, at least just a little! Really for a while most of my inspirations are found on whims and finding random art, but lately Pinterest has been my tool to sort it all. xDI really recommend looking at that tooteral folder because there is stuff in there that I reference CONSTANTLY.Have a lovely day bean

I wrote up a bunch of my notes for that Fire Emblem crossover.
I’m thinking the Awakening/Three Houses crossover ought to be called Dragonblood.
Here’s some of the trouble Morgan and Aversa might get into. Really, it’s a list of potential support conversations partners as well as a summary of what the topic/event might be. And the max potential support rank.
(And a warning: Morgan is nearly as social as her old man and has the dorkier of the two Morgan personalities. Aversa is not as social, and probably shouldn’t be allowed to deal with people unsupervised. Also, Byleth remains the only character able to get to S-rank with anyone.)
Morgan’s Supports:
GOLDEN DEER:
Claude: The mystery of being foreign on this wacky country and also Morgan is a dragon. Claude doesn’t believe her. (max rank: A)
Lorenz: Lorenz teaches Morgan tea etiquette and ballroom dancing, but Morgan is a menace to both toes and cake. (max rank: A)
Hilda: Morgan is tricked into doing Hilda’s chores, only to take all the materials and turn them into traps. (max rank: B)
Marianne: Morgan enlists Marianne’s help to check in on a pregnant pegasus throughout the Academy phase. (max rank: A)
Leonie: Morgan wants to bag a bear, and is willing to do anything to help Leonie do it. (max rank: B)
Ignatz: Art lessons for sword lessons! And both of them are bad teachers and students, but they have fun. (max rank: A)
Raphael: Muscle party training time. Morgan’s strength is partly supernatural, so she wants to do more than train with her stone. (max rank A)
Lysithea: Morgan shares what happened with Miklan and discusses Crest issues over cake. Lysithea is so cool. (max rank: A)
Hanneman: Morgan learns about Crestology and tries to dig up more info on the topic. She falls asleep partway through Hanneman’s lecture. (max rank: A)
Aversa: Morgan gently interrogates her aunt about why she and Tiki don’t get along, while Aversa tries to deflect. (max rank: A)
BLUE LIONS:
Dimitri: In return for helping her with lance practice, Morgan gives Dimitri a nickname and decides to be friends. She keeps it up even after the time-skip. (max rank: A)
Dedue: Dedue warns Morgan to stay away from him, and so Morgan decides to hang out more, but as the guy’s personal cheerleader. (max rank: A)
Sylvain: Morgan spectates the flirting for comedy’s sake, then bothers him about the Lance of Ruin for Science. She concludes it’s all bad. (max rank: A)
Felix: Morgan pays Felix for homework help in sparring matches. His attitude’s better than Severa’s, at least. (max rank: B)
Ingrid: Ingrid tests Morgan’s total lack of acrophobia or, indeed, any fear of heights at all. She’s left convinced Morgan is secretly a loon. (max rank: B)
Annette: Time to form the Black Magic Club. (max rank: A)
Mercedes: Mercedes and Morgan do a bit of comparative mythology, with Morgan trying her best not to say that the only goddess she follows is also her grandmother. (max rank: B)
Ashe: Ashe helps Morgan break into her room after she locks herself out, so she gives him a book. It’d be banned if the Church had ever heard of it. Oh no. (Max rank: A)
Byleth: Morgan takes notes on Byleth’s rather striking similarities to Robin and decides that it’s time to learn strategy somewhere new. (max rank: A)
BLACK EAGLES:
Ferdinand: What is nobility? And should Morgan care? (No.) Morgan proceeds to troll him. (max rank: B)
Bernadetta: Morgan takes up handicrafts after seeing Bernadetta’s freaky dolls, and decides Bernadetta is a role model after observing more. She’s so artistic! (max rank: A)
Caspar: What is justice and why is there so much punching? (max rank: B)
CHURCH OF SEIROS:
Seteth: Morgan bugs Seteth about how old he really is. (max rank: B)
Flayn: Flayn and Morgan decide to try teenage rebellion and Flayn gets to be a big sister. (max rank: A)
Cyril: Cyril decides Morgan is a stealth menace to his chore rotation. Morgan eventually realizes that’s a bad thing. (max rank: A)
Aversa’s Supports:
GOLDEN DEER:
Claude: Claude tries to bother Aversa about her inconsistent past and eventually learns she used to be a witch. (max rank: B)
Lorenz: Lorenz asks for tutoring in black magic. Aversa does so, but refuses to go into dark magic. They continue with lances instead. (max rank: B)
Leonie: Leonie gets a warning about her laser focus on Jeralt, because Aversa is projecting a bit about her old father issues. (max rank: B)
Marianne: Aversa tells a story about how people with tainted blood can still get happy endings (like Robin, Henry, Tharja, and her). (max rank: B)
Lysithea: Aversa relates all too much to someone losing years to dark magic, and resolves to help Lysithea any way she can. (max rank: A)
Hanneman: An argument over crests ensues because Aversa doesn’t share her family history. (max rank: B)
Morgan: See above.
BLUE LIONS:
Dimitri: A blunt, honest assessment about his lance style and advice about battle rage. Aversa’s seen this before. (max rank: A)
Dedue: People keep mistaking Aversa as being from Duscur and harassing her, so she decides to see how he’s doing under genuine pressure. (max rank: A)
Ingrid: Choose your dream. Go, dear. Spread those wings. (max rank: B)
Sylvain: Flirting with Aversa gets Sylvain laughed out of the first conversation, but they end up discussing his deeper issues. (max rank: A)
BLACK EAGLE:
Bernadetta: Aversa would like to meet Bernie’s dad and set him on fire. She never got to do that with hers. (max rank: B)
Dorothea: Are you...sure you want to get married to just any old jerk? Aversa would advise a career in being a witch instead. (max rank: B)
CHURCH OF SEIROS:
Seteth: Aversa’s paperwork is a nightmare. She refuses to fix it. (max rank: B)
Cyril: Loyalty is admirable, but Aversa has been thoroughly burned before. She advises caution and fails. (max rank: B)
Manuela: Aversa is happily single while around ten years older than Manuela is. Manuela dreads ending up like her. (max rank: B)
Aversa chats to other characters, but doesn’t really bond much compared to the number of people Morgan likes. She’s a bit of a meanie.
Also, a fair number of the supports deal with plot developments, so they’d be event-locked.
And finally, while Aversa’s choices are done, Morgan’s are incomplete. I didn’t know what to have for some people without retreading old ground.
