WHAT IS A RIBSHIPPER?

"ribshipper" is an offshoot of "selfshipper," for somebody who selfships or is in a fictoromantic relationship with an OC (original character) of their own creation. A ribshipper is not somebody who creates an alternate version of a preexisting fictional character to selfship with, only those who create a wholly original character for the purpose of being their f/o

WHO CAN BE A RIBSHIPPER?

Any fictoromantic, fictosexual, selfshipper, waifuist, or other person who dates fictional characters!! It does help to be an artist yourself, but the essence of ribshipping is simply creating your own partner; this is where the name comes from, as in that one christian story where god makes Eve out of Adams rib. Partner, created for you!

HOW DOES BEING RIBSHIP FEEL?

Fucking awesome! I do not have the tolerance for an actual two-way relationship, and so having the literal perfect partner for me, that I can never upset or need to break up with when I dont want to interact for weeks, its ideal :)

💚 - When is your f/o's birthday? If it's never been stated canonically, what's your headcanon for it?

Huh, I... never thought of it. But upon previous analyses Skimble strikes me as a Taurus so... April 20th, why not. One of the funny numbers, I'm gonna remember it that way.

🍇 - How did you get introduced to your f/o?

After Cats the Movie came out, I randomly watched a theory on it. Cue the snippets from the 1998 film (recorded version of the stageplay) and bootlegs showing up in my youtube recs. I watched some songs. Huh. A hip-thrusting cat. Cool, gotta love him. Lots of characters, I could never remember them, do they even all have names? (Answer: I eventually did, and yes they do, though some vary between productions so it's a confusing mess. There are at least 4 cats named Admetus, I kid you not) Then I stumbled upon a community theatre tech rehearsal recording but didn't last to the end because it was just a bunch of songs playing one after another, and I figured this can't be it, that it's probably just because it's a rehearsal... So I switched to a bootleg of the Broadway revival. Turns out that really was it, but it managed to get me hooked. This Skimble caught my attention because he's super expressive and runs really funny. I remember thinking "oh, this is the one cat the movie didn't mess up!" which somewhat made him grow in my eyes. In my post-watching thoughts I initially described him as an "unproblematic fave". It wasn't until I saw some other OCshippers in the fandom (@omikinz ily - she ships with the hip-thrusting cat btw 😂), wanted to be part of the squad and created Lily to be close with Skimble in some way that I went "Oh."

Jeremy Davis is still, in many aspects, my favorite Skimble.
