happy birthday, sky!!!

man, it feels like yesterday when, back in 2021, i introduced my first ocs and joined the fandom! it is no secret between us that, despite a few disagreements here and there, you were what got me into this small corner and blanche and lyle were among the first og three! i'm thankful for having a creative, funny and insightful friend like you ❤ to more birthdays by your side! have a little blyle blurb as a treat 🫶🏻

Blanche tutted, her not-so-smooth skin already showing her wrinkles. she'd soon turn 58 and was already showing age perhaps too soon. Lyle seemed busy trying to read a book through his glasses, courtesy of Missy. Noticing without even looking his wife's distress, he looked up.

"Do you think I'm too wrinkled for a woman of fifty-seven?" She asked.

He smiled, taking off his glasses and going by her vanity, his hands on her shoulders "You are just fine, my love." After many decades of marriage, he could tell she was not still at ease. He kissed her head, which had some concealed grey hairs, and lifted her chin so she'd be looking at him "Your youthful beauty may have drawn up to my eyes, but it is the beauty in your heart that made me fall for you. I love you, no matter what, till the end of my days."

Blanche, deeply touched, turned around and kissed him fondly. She stroked his cheek and whispered "There are no serums or creams that make me feel as young as your love, my darling. You're my whole life, and I'm thankful for you every day."

They melted again in a tender kiss.

Oh, gosh, I might have to think about that for a moment, perhaps, or a month, heh, forgive me, bad joke, but I haven't thought of anything dance related in a long, long while . . .

I guess part of me wants to say classical ballet. That's the dance form I was raised in, for lack of a better term. I was trained from the age of five, and I was en pointe by the time I was fourteen. By early adulthood, it was my whole life. I wasn't a great student and I didn't have many friends growing up, but I excelled at the ballet and I idolized Tchaikovsky more than any movie star or celebrity crush. I was a shoo-in, as my coach would say.

But, at the same time, there was another side to me. The side of me that would choreograph front aerials to Whitney Houston songs, and would record Janet Jackson's music videos on the VCR and rewind them until the film spilled out. Do you know that one Paula Abdul music video, the one with the cat? Opposites Attract? Yes! I wanted to be just like Paula! A slick contemporary Jazz or tap dancer. Sometimes I wished I was born into a family that was more accepting of that whole Hollywood scene. No one in my family understood it, not even my brother.

That bit of spontaneousness is something I've always kept tucked away inside of me, and it's for that reason my favourite ballet isn't Swan Lake or the Nutcracker, but A Streetcar Named Desire. It was the first and only ballet I performed as a soloist. Obviously, there was controversy at the time and while I'd never be able to say this publically, Blanche DuBois is a woman I relate to more than I thought possible of a fictional character. She lost her career, her husband, and, in the end, her mind . . . The more I think of it, the more potent it gets.

Sorry for dragging the mood down. Honesty never comes easy for me and now you see why.

3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

denny told himself after the incident hed never pick up another weapon again :) if push came to shove, he would still prefer using his own hands in defense, but it would likely be in defense of others rather than himself. if he was faced with a fight, he would be more likely to walk away or embarrass the other guy than do anything.

kieran swears hed never hurt anybody unless in dire self defense, and has never even been in fight before! he carries around a small pocket knife he says his dad gave him before setting off for college, and keeps it fairly tucked away. the creep on the other hand is quite fond of what eyewitness testimony claims to be a medieval sword? but maisies glasses fell off so theres really no way of proving it, besides he doesnt have anything to do with kieran :)

18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

denny hates lying! he really really hates to have to do it to everyone. stealing is something he will certainly turn a blind eye too, but hasnt done it since getting his ride to CBU. as for killing, he wont tell you how his brain itches to let you know that some people need killing, they really do. if asked, he'd probably just grimace at you for asking weird questions and walk away. dont worry! it's not you, it's just eating him alive!

kieran bodies blanche dubois in letting everyone know he thinks white lies are just ones way of having a little bit of magic in life, so what if it's not the whole truth, you liked it didnt you? stealing is something he jokes about never doing again, not after that time at the bodega and the, yeah you remember this story! if you asked him about killing hed snort laugh, and ask you if you were a little weirdo too. hed admit, blond hair whipping around to make sure youre alone, that he believes some people really do need to die.

“Hey Alvarez?” She got a hum in reply, “Have you ever wanted to like, eat poison? Like, not to die or anything.... just because it looks good?” Rico glanced at her but said nothing. Jess took it as a sign to continue.

“Like, cyanide? Hell yeah. I’d eat that, if that would mean I wouldn’t have to immediately be sent to the hospital... you know?”

Rico turned to look at her with an incredulous look on his face, “Dude... are you okay?”

Jess looked at him confusedly, “Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?”

Rico shook his head while silently laughing, “No reason.”

1. which fictional character is the biggest inspiration for your character?

Originally it was only Penny Lane from Almost Famous. But I do think she shares a few similarities with the girls from Valley of the Dolls, Blanche DuBois, and Esther Greenwood.

2. how long have you been roleplaying your character?

May will be my 3 year anniversary!

3. how has your character changed from their original concept?

I feel like my original intent was to make her a bimbo, but over time I kinda hated going in that direction because I was making her one dimensional.

Actually, no. I’m really proud of Maddie.

@lesbiananneshirley (***) — OMG I KNOW. istg, at least half of the places that I name myself are called, “Denton Falls” (which I came up with in high school, and it’s totally “the town in Ohio that Brad and Janet are from in RHPS” + “some generic term that I see attached to a lot of midwestern US locales, so I don’t get called out on just using the name of Brad and Janet’s hometown all the time”), and the other half are recycled from weird or interesting place names that I see while driving around, or remember from somewhere, or so on.

Oddly enough, it’s easier for me to name fancy-ass rich people estates — like, the places where Mrs. Havisham or Blanche Dubois would live, or where wealthy Purebloods would live in an HP fic (and ijs, JKR totally dropped the ball with Malfoy Manor and Grimmauld Place, because it does fit the Malfoys to just name their home after themselves, but 12 Grimmauld Place is just the street address, and while a soundalike for, “grim old place” fits that home, she could have gone all in and given these places some totally off-the-wall fancy weirdo names, and she chose not to)

Anyway, it’s easier to name rich people estates because they’re allowed to be kind of weird-sounding. Like, hey, “Wisteria Haven” (the name I gave the Crouch family’s Old Guard Wealthy Pureblood estate) sounds strange — well, that’s okay, because it’s the home of rich, eccentric Purebloods, who have to be REALLY eccentric by wizard standards because at least Crouch Sr. knows how to blend in with Muggles and seems like the sort of person who’d make his son learn how to do that, too.

Or like, okay, “Vigne Rêve” (“vine dream”) is a weird, pretentious-sounding French name…… but the ancestor of OC!Sebastian’s who sold off the old marquisate, came to the colonies with his family (except the older brother who stayed in Paris and the middle brother who disappeared a few years before while he was off supposedly schmoozing at Versailles) and Lafayette (during the whole, “Then France saved the American Revolution” business), and named the family’s new estate? …Yeah, well, Gaspard Moncrieff was a weird, pretentious Frenchman and he was totally obsessed with turning the family’s history as vintners into a more successful business.

So, hey, he would totally give the estate a weird-ass pretentious French name with some relation to wine. The, “He was totally pretentious” part is probably the only reason why he didn’t give the estate some more obviously wine-related name, since Gaspard wouldn’t have cared about giving his estate a name like, “the good wine place” — except that it didn’t sound elegant enough

But anyway, yes. Realest talk: naming places is awful, too

They often visit their mama in her time in Hungary

And when they do, she shows them around the city she's staying and eat local food

Despite the political turmoil, she does her best to stay out of it

She teaches them all how to feed with smaller dragons and Richard asks her to ride one, so he rides with his mama the coolest dragon 🥺

Blanche tells them Hungarian folklore when heading to sleep, as well as a bit of history

she has age on her side, she’s smart and learns fast. she can and will fight you with both magic and her own fists. has learned several martial arts, used to be a street kid who was later trained by none other than Rex Brokenshire ( @cursebreakerfarrier ) himself so uh... that’s a no for me kwsnwjkd

2. nilufer sultan

bro i mean... her father’s the freaking sultan!!! and though she’s not that powerful in the harem or the hierarchy, she has servants and many pasas willing to send executioners to your room. she’s, after all, a sultana by blood. her wishes are orders, including killing you.

3. blanche dubois

i mean, she’s a dragonologist!! i wouldn’t want to fuck with a woman who only needs to say the word and her dragons will burn you alive. besides, she can and will fight you and probably win so uh... another no for me

4. delphine vixen

she’s from a powerful and dangerous family, from the og Phoenix Resistance, escaped Voldemort and trained by Alastor Moody himself, as well as being an excellent fighter of martial arts in her own right, delphine makes it to the list of un-fuckable character

5. lady primrose gray

the queen herself, she’s friends with a freaking royal prince, a 700 yo vampire and her husband’s an earl, but what makes her powerful is her own lineage: she’s skilled in wandless magic, has the smarts, wits and bravery, as well as a sense of duty and will do anything to keep her birthright. duelled a powerful duke and won with a freaking longsword, not to mention she always gets what she wants and becomes a powerful woman on her own right, primrose is in the un-fuckable list

6. cecilia balinor

from a powerful pureblooded family, she becomes a powerful and dangerous hit witch and feared by many. she’s got knowledge of ancient magic so uh... another no for me

7. marcellus thorne

an influential socialite, he has enough money to either have you silent or gone from the country, he has the perfect contacts to end you. he’s also a very skilled duellist so... another no for me

a champion dueller, he doesn’t like violence... but will do what it takes for his loved ones, and has that gryffindor bravado so... another nope for me

she’s a freaking samurai, and so was her father, who’s a friend of the Chinese emperor and can and will cut you in half... ten years with the female samurais is no joke. another nope for me

the son of adonis, he’s x10 times smarter than anybody, ambitious and his wife is the magiens magister, who’s also a skilled witch. i pity you if they team up to kill you... another no for me

one of the first to resist voldemort, she knew him personally and is a doctor... she doesn’t only know how to fix you, she also knows how to break you to the point of rendering you useless for anything, and her temper is no joke and is also a niece of blanche so uh... nope thanks smwjd

one of salazar’s most powerful allies, she’s got knowledge and skill from very ancient magic, is the ancestor of blanche and elodie, she doesn’t need a wand to effing destroy you and have breakfast with your bones. another nope for me

descendant of marcellus, she’s very rich and popular, and knows everyone’s business, so she’ll know everything about you in no time, and will destroy you with that. she also is an skilled dueller and fighter so that’s a nope for me
