WWTG, Winter Solstice: The Winter Masquerade

Primrose once again checked her outfit for tonight: it was the signature Somerset blue, adjusted to nowadays' fashion. Her aunt, the Dowager Viscountess Alina, had agreed to come up and socialize for a bit.

Finally, she put on the highest tiara she could find, with jewels that Queen Anne gave to her ancestor. It was kokoshnik style and had a massive sapphire that sparkled as brightly as the moon. Malcolm entered the room and smiled at his wife's beautiful ensemble. He dipped his head to kiss her cheek as he rounded his hands around her growing belly "You look wonderful, my love. There won't be a doubt on who's in charge here."

"I'm glad my choice of outfit pleases my beloved husband."

"I hope you feel less dizzy. You left the archery contest really early."

Primrose grabbed his hand and kissed it "It's just pregnancy sickness. Nothing out of the ordinary. Almost every woman has gone through it."

He nodded, but was still unsure. Primrose was tense still. It was the night of the solstice, and tonight had to go perfectly well. She was not the perstitious kind, but in the wizarding world, magic did play a role. She would rather not risk it."

Composing herself, she gave Malcolm a smile "I think I'm ready."

Three hours into the ball, Primrose had decided to take a break from socializing and pretending not to hear the rumour mill about her past, and the fact that some ex-flames of hers were in attendance.

As she observed how the moon seemed closer to its goal by each hour, a pair of familiar hands surrounded her, kissing her bare shoulders. Malcolm.

"Thought I'd find you here."

"You thought well." She tiptoed, but Malcolm stopped her and crouched down to kiss her. "Given by how Aunt Alina's friends were gossipping, I knew you'd need a breather. Stress is not good for the baby."

Primrose bit her lip "Don't you mind? That I have a... past?"

Malcolm kissed her forehead "I don't. Do you know why? Because your past is there, in the past. There might have been others, but you chose me, and I'm thankful every day for it."

Primrose smiled widely and kissed him softly "Although, I do have a question." He nodded, a signal of go ahead "Did you? Have past relationships as well?"

He looked at her intensely "There might have been other women interested, but nothing of that sort ever happened."

"Why? You're handsome, rich and charming."

"Because I have loved you all my life, Primrose. Before I knew the word 'love', I knew that you were the one for me. Every time you were in the room, all the women ceased to exist, and when you weren't, they only reminded me that they were not you. You are my past, present and future, mitt allt. All I've ever wanted, the only thing my heart and soul ever desired and cried out for. My heart was born to be yours, dearest."

It might have been the pregnancy, or the fact that it had been the first time since announcing her pregnancy that he had bared his heart so, but Primrose couldn't help but tear up, feeling loved and stupid.

"Did I torture you, my love, every time I was in somebody else's arms?" She asked, her voice trembling.

"A bit. But in the end, here you are, in my arms, telling me that you love me. My dream coming true has overcome any torture or agony I ever felt."

And thus, they kissed, and he kissed the tears away. After what it seemed like an eternity, Miss Gwyn told the couple that they were waiting for the opening dance, and that Mr. Rowle could only stall the guests for too long.

With their heads high, they entered the ballroom and started to dance. Mal was yet to become as graceful as his wife, but with only looking at her in the eye and allow himself to become one with her, it was more than enough to conduct the dance with the grace the Somersets executed everything.

As they bowed, Primrose felt it. She gasped, her hands going to the growing three-month belly and beamed, looking at her husband "Kicking. The baby's kicking!" She cried out of happiness.

Mr. Demiurgos took the lead "It seems that the solstice has blessed our hostess. Let us give her an applause and carry on!"

Ignoring the claps, the couple embraced.

Cecilia observed the young couple wistfully. Years ago, the thought of forming a family scared and disgusted her in equal measure. But now, with Vinnie at her side, maybe it wasn't so bad. She looked at her and whispered "I'd love to have that one day."

"What? Her clearly expensive and ancient coronet?"

"No, my love. A family. The three of us."

Vinnie whipped her face towards Cecilia "Are you... are you sure, Cecy?"

"When it comes to you, my love, I am."

Both women smiled, holding hands for as much as they could before pulling apart, but a clear happiness in their eyes.

WWTG, The Winter Solstice: The Welcome Ball III

Everything was going as well as it could be. The Welcome Ball was afoot and Primrose observed from a chair that her beloved people had made for her as a gift for producing an heir. Malcolm was beside her, observing quietly the guests and commenting on the now absent faces they didn't see.

"Henry wrote back to me. No word of what he and the Goldcrests are up to in Scotland, though," It was true. This morning, they had received a letter from Henry and Elian each. It was odd that they didn't attend this year's festivities, and many whispered of it.

"Elian was quiet as well," Malcolm added "hopefully they aren't roping one another into danger."

Primrose chuckled "Hopefully being the factor word here. Of both of us, you ought to know Elian best." She teased.

Malcolm let out a small laugh "You're right, dear. Danger chases our dear friend, I'm afraid."

Primrose observed Simon Battersea, standing in a corner, surely pining for his faraway sultana "Poor boy. I wish I could do something to make his stay less lonely." She looked at Malcolm "I shall dance with him the next number."

Malcolm nodded "Be my guest, dear. I shall see myself that Mr. Rowle doesnt rue the night."

He kissed her hand and she extended her hand to the young earl "Dance with me, Earl Simon?" She gave him a smile that she knew well nobody ought to deny.

"Can you? In your condition?" He asked concerned.

"A little movement will do good to me and my child."

He bowed "I shall oblige, then."

Cecilia wasn't Harlan Rowle's biggest fan, and despite him having a nice face to look at and a certain charm -though she'd rather perish the thought than admit it out loud- but he made her beloved Vinnie laugh, and that was enough for her to tolerate him, no matter how much she liked the idea of punching him in the throat, though the cad would find a way to make the situation humorous.

As the quadrille begun, she and Vinnie looked at one another "Sneak to our spot for our people-watching game?"

"Always!"

Brushing their hands, they left for a small terrace that Viscountess Primrose kept close to her heart, but Cecilia had worked a way to give her access as well. Suffices to say, the oh-so-perfect viscountess once had some scandalous rendezvouses with a beautiful and witty painter.

"Tell me, dearest, who shall be your victim for the night?" Cecilia inquired.

Lavinia observed the people around until her eyes on poor, flushed Orpheus Kenway, who looked positively lost "Oh, good Godric, by the time I have been here, I have only made a mess with five syllables or less, and overshadowed by my unsufferable villain of a brother! Whatever shall I do without cousin Charis?! Oh, Godric, grant me mercy, because polite society won't!" She cried as Cecilia snickered.

Cecilia observed the poor Adonis Demiurgos, his usual twinkle gone and observing wistfully the dancing pairs "Oh, woe is me, wherever is my witty little nightingale, who pecks me deliciously so with her razor pen? Oh, Minerva, my Minnie, where art thou?!"

Lavinia doubled in laughter, Cecilia covering her mouth while she tried to regain her breath "God, Cecy, you are vicious!"

"But true," she winked.

Not having realised till now that they were leaning on one another, Cecilia kissed her nose and Lavinia scrunched her nose. Seeing if anyone was searching for them, they kissed softly for a minute before breaking apart "I don't wish to go back, but..."

"Primrose can only buy us so much time."

Both women finally emerged from their hidden corner and rejoined the festivities, which were thankfully winding down.

Adonis downed yet another brandy as he slowly started to believe that no Kennedy would attend this year's festivities. Ed had given his word to check on his calendar, and the next thing he knew, he was already at Winbourne, wondering where Minerva could've run off to.

A concerned Primrose approached him. He stood up and quickly curtsied in respect for the lady "My lady."

"I see that Miss Kennedy won't be in attendance. It's a shame. I always enjoyed her literary insight. And don't say which one, or take me for a fool for that matter, Mr. Demiurgos, because I know better."

He raised his hands in defeat "Worry not, my lady, I know that you can't be fooled even if I tried."

"Tell you what, I have a drawing room that is perfect for some... illicit writing."

He cocked an eyebrow, intrigued "Do tell me..."

Hometown

Adonis grew up in the old city of Thebes in Greece. He had a fairly great childhood. He also grew up a Greek Christan Orthodox, though practised it very little. He has some rituals of it that he keeps to himself, but has never pressured anyone for it. He grew up a modern and ahead-of-his.time boy. 

At the age of 11, his paternal grandmother, who was a seer, due to age and untrained magic, attacked young Adonis, telling him that his beauty was sinful and no one would love him, always wanting his beauty. This traumatised Adonis, showing signs of growing into a handsome young boy. He closed himself off since then. 

Family

Mother: Agatha Sofía Demiurgos, neé Galanis 

A fair beauty, local from Thebes, she grew up in a house of Ottoman ancestry, which made her an outcast in a place where they hated the Ottomans for 400 years of invasion. She met Apollonas when he defended her because a drunken man had tried to take unwanted advances towards her. They hit it off, and despite Agatha being on a girl’s night, she was encouraged to pass some time with this new beau. They courted for a while before he proposed to her and had Adonis. Two years later, their daughter Irene would be born. 

Father: Apollonas Gregorius Demiurgos 

First generation to be born in England, with both Greek parents who immigrated to England 20 years ago, he was a student of Hogwarts, Ravenclaw alumni and who worked as a magical diplomat between England and Greece. He had an hero complex and it peaked when he saved the beautiful woman on the beach who was being accosted by a drunk of the name Agatha Galanis. They both it off and went on multiple dates before he proposed months later. They both married and none of them converted to either Anglicanism or Greek Orthodoxy. They moved, however, to England for better chances in 1876 and in 1881 they had their son Adonis. Two years later, in 1883, they had a daughter, Irene. The birth was difficult and the marriage declared that they’d have no more children, happy with a daughter and a son.

Two years younger than Adonis, she is painfully shy and introverted, always with her nose on a book -hence being sorted into Ravenclaw- and very quiet, though when she warms up to somebody, she rambles nonstop. She is aware of her beauty but prefers to nurture her mind and think that she is far too young to pursue romance, wanting to be mature and wise, unlike the naive heroines she reads about.

Significant Other/Love Interest: Minerva Aileen Kennedy ( @unfortunate-arrow​ ) 

When they first met, Adonis was a shy boy who couldn’t speak English and upon hearing Minerva’s extensive vocabulary, decided to ask her to help him find the Flying lesson they were headed to. However, this wouldn’t last. Upon making friends who weren’t the best company, they decided to target Minerva by stealing her prized notebooks and reading them in front of the class. Adonis thought they’d mess with it and not fully embarrass her, and before he could defend himself or explain Minerva, he had grated her and earned detention. He was then too shy and insecure of his English to explain himself to Minerva, and when he started to grow courage, the year had ended. 

On second year, he cut ties with that group and instead befriended his dormmate and Minerva’s twin brother, Grant. He soon explained the situation and he understood and became water under the bridge. Adonis instead tried to gain her attention in the academic ambit and soon a rivarly formed. She was restless, meanwhile he was laid-back and always answered correctly even while missing some lessons or falling asleep in class, which annoyed Minerva even more. All of this lasted until the end of sixth year. 

During summer, Grant invited Adonis for a weekend at his home, and told him that he’d accept the invitation only if Minerva was alright with it. He was surprised when he was told she didn’t mind it. During those days, he realised that he had always fancied and admired her deep down, but Minerva was oblivious to it, but made small gestures to slowly win her affection, such as leaving her notes with quotes from Greek poets, flowers that reminded him of her, Greek words with their meaning that he knew she’d love, and perfumes that, to him, smelled like Minerva. 

Sadly, before he could confess his feelings, he was accepted in his dream work on a duelling program for future duellists. He’d travel across Europe for nearly two years to countries like Romania, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Montenegro, Cyprus, Greece, Georgia, the Ottoman Empire (much to his chagrin), Finland, Hungary, and finally France, where he’d reunite with Minerva, who had heard that the famous champion Adonis would be, fighting. He dedicated her his victory and the two of them had their first official date as someone courting. They also had their second kiss on the top of the Eiffel Tower at midnight. He then retired as a dueller after being declared Champion Duellist and settled in England, where he courted and married Minerva and had three children: twins Atticus and Daphne and a son years later, a surprise baby. 

They lived a happy, fulfilled life and he passed away at 108 years of age, with his children and grandchildren with him.

He did not befriend him until their second year. They were opposites, but found a way to get along nicely enough. Their relationship was also good enough when he asked him for permission to court his sister, which ensued in a ‘if you hurt her I’ll kill you’ speech. He also corresponded with him during many years and asked for his permission to ask his sister’s hand in marriage. They remained good friends until the end. 

Rivals: Minerva Kennedy 

For years, he and his future wife were at odds (more on her part than his) and it stayed on the academic field up until seventh year. They’d eventually fall in love and marry.

Have a treat for my lateness 😭

Adonis had finished his match for the day in Paris. As he looked for his shirt, he could hear a woman's protests along the janitor that sounded all too familiar.

"I am telling you, I know Mr. Demiurgos myself!" The woman protested. The janitor said something and she huffed "I assure you, he will tell you otherwise–."

When he turned around, both he and Minerva were rendered speechless. And not because he was shirtless and before her, but because he hadn't seen her beautiful and challenging face in years. As Minerva took her eyes elsewhere and he threw his shirt, he smiled to the janitor "Thank you, Henri. Worry not, Miss Kennedy and I go way back. Return to your work, please."

After the painstakingly longest five minutes of his life, in which consisted on him dressing up and try not to kiss Minerva here and there, he swallowed hard and approached her, both surprised and delighted to see her again after years of only dreaming of her. But he was not dreaming. He smiled widely "Minnie." Her given name danced on his lips "Took you long enough to come to me."

bro i mean... her father’s the freaking sultan!!! and though she’s not that powerful in the harem or the hierarchy, she has servants and many pasas willing to send executioners to your room. she’s, after all, a sultana by blood. her wishes are orders, including killing you. 

3. blanche dubois 

i mean, she’s a dragonologist!! i wouldn’t want to fuck with a woman who only needs to say the word and her dragons will burn you alive. besides, she can and will fight you and probably win so uh... another no for me 

4. delphine vixen 

she’s from a powerful and dangerous family, from the og Phoenix Resistance, escaped Voldemort and trained by Alastor Moody himself, as well as being an excellent fighter of martial arts in her own right, delphine makes it to the list of un-fuckable character 

5. lady primrose gray 

the queen herself, she’s friends with a freaking royal prince, a 700 yo vampire and her husband’s an earl, but what makes her powerful is her own lineage: she’s skilled in wandless magic, has the smarts, wits and bravery, as well as a sense of duty and will do anything to keep her birthright. duelled a powerful duke and won with a freaking longsword, not to mention she always gets what she wants and becomes a powerful woman on her own right, primrose is in the un-fuckable list 

6. cecilia balinor 

from a powerful pureblooded family, she becomes a powerful and dangerous hit witch and feared by many. she’s got knowledge of ancient magic so uh... another no for me 

7. marcellus thorne 

an influential socialite, he has enough money to either have you silent or gone from the country, he has the perfect contacts to end you. he’s also a very skilled duellist so... another no for me 

8. adonis demiurgos 

a champion dueller, he doesn’t like violence... but will do what it takes for his loved ones, and has that gryffindor bravado so... another nope for me 

9. lihuan wei 

she’s a freaking samurai, and so was her father, who’s a friend of the Chinese emperor and can and will cut you in half... ten years with the female samurais is no joke. another nope for me 

10. atticus demiurgos-kennedy 

the son of adonis, he’s x10 times smarter than anybody, ambitious and his wife is the magiens magister, who’s also a skilled witch. i pity you if they team up to kill you... another no for me

one of the first to resist voldemort, she knew him personally and is a doctor... she doesn’t only know how to fix you, she also knows how to break you to the point of rendering you useless for anything, and her temper is no joke and is also a niece of blanche so uh... nope thanks smwjd

one of salazar’s most powerful allies, she’s got knowledge and skill from very ancient magic, is the ancestor of blanche and elodie, she doesn’t need a wand to effing destroy you and have breakfast with your bones. another nope for me

descendant of marcellus, she’s very rich and popular, and knows everyone’s business, so she’ll know everything about you in no time, and will destroy you with that. she also is an skilled dueller and fighter so that’s a nope for me 

14. lennox arcano-thorne 

the fact that she’s an arcano makes her dangerous, but also a daughter of semele?? boy you’re done. because she’s a necromancer and the moment she rips off her gloves, you’re done for. another nope for me 

15. ernest di napoli 

last but not least, mr di napoli here used to be italian nobility, is a skilled dueller who kicked his father’s ass out of the country in a very difficuly duel, is an athlete and rich enough to end you himself.
