I think Overseer MC would be embarrassed asf when visiting a site (out of boredom, like you said, perhaps) and is being surrounded by the Alpha-1

Visiting the sites is really the only kind of break you get from the endless orders you give out. You'd go more often if it wasn't against what you were meant to do and all the guards that surrounded you when you did.

Alpha-1 is meant to protect you, yes, but you are sure they could be far more subtle than this.

"This is embarrassing," you tell the guard next to you. "Next time, bring less people or hide your symbol."

"We are responsible for your safety," they dutifully recite.

You sigh and continue forward as researchers hurry out of your way and stare, wide-eyed. You didn't care much if they realized you were a member of the O5 council since they'd forget by the end of your visit anyways.

You pick up the experiment log on a new SCP and skim through it.

"Pen," you say to the head researcher.

"Ex-excuse me?" they sputter.

"Give me a pen," you repeat. They flounder for a moment before passing you one. "Thank you."

Hm. The containment procedures weren't optimized for this particular SCP from what you remembered from the article. It would be best to skip this part... fix this... change the dimensions...

"Update the containment procedures by next week," you state and hand both the paper and the pen back to the head researcher. As you leave, there's a clamouring and indignation but it isn't any of your concern.

Minutes later, the complaints die down as there's no memory of who had entered, only a new set of orders.

i just reliazed how similar mikell and adam are. As seen in the tales serasrbad day and spirit of peace they seem to be kinda laid back autohrity figures with no care about what anybody else says or thinks

I think it might be because they also have very similar paths. Mikell probably has to refer to Adam a lot to get the best outcome and success. Adam was also a field agent before becoming an O5 yea? Mikell proably followed that path and then referred to/copied how his dad reacts and that's how he also lands himself in a similar position.

Also not to mention, Mikell was probably the only kid out of the Bright Siblings that was actually every raised by both Adam and Evelyn so he does have to learn a lot from his father.

The situation is complicated.

There’s a strange combination of memories from whoever held the body previously but you know that at your core, you’re more you than you are them. It doesn’t change the fact that they had somehow gotten promoted to the O5 council recently though.

You’re woefully underqualified for that position, in your own opinion at least. Or maybe you're too qualified for it. Between your knowledge of the universe and their memories of experience, you'd be too powerful as an O5.

Despite that, it's too late to decline (not that you can) and it's too early to quit already so you march forth to your first meeting.

It's nothing interesting, really.

You have responsibilities, orders to give out, paperwork to deal with, all while hidden somewhere nobody knows. O5 aren't technically supposed to directly interact with anomalies (except when they do) so you're more or less safe.

You're still waiting for the other shoe to drop. For something to go wrong, for a different O5 to note your odd decisions (unlikely, given that no one who is promoted to the council is normal in the first place), for this position to f*ck you over.

The entire SCP Foundation is in the palm of your hands. You don't know what to do with it.
