Looks like Niall was recording something for Spotify today. Based on the bands post and Jen from his capital team who flew to London and based on her story she was with someone from Spotify in that same Studio today 👀
SPOTIFY SINGLES BABEYYYYYYY!!! bird and jake both geotagging AIR studios, and if you go look in the tag, a producer for spotify singles ALSO geotagged AIR studios. that along with someone from his team being with someone from spotify at the same studio…………….LETS GOOOOOO
but the REAL question here is: what the fuck is he gonna cover? is he gonna be The Worst and cover the same thing he’s doing for live lounge? or maybe something from tour like Eagles’ LITFL or Bruce’s DITD? or something completely new and different????

⭐️ Fri 24 Jan ⭐️
Louis is booked for the Today Show the morning of the 31st, and we got a video of him reacting to covers of his songs (and the singers reacting to him reacting it gets a little repetitive tbh). He comments on 'kids these days' (probably thinking of his own YouTube days and please leave your honest opinion im only 16 years old ...goddd), acknowledges that JLY exists and, of course, finds nice things to say about everyone, even when it's, uh, a challenge. A tote bag was added to his merch. The Sun published a piece compressing most of Simon Jones' favorite het Louis tropes in a single article, yawn. Louis on E: we are not engaged uh but yeah in the future sure after all we have been together uhhh... (checks hand) for ten years... ('what? that's not her? eh oh well whatever.') And of course, those 'mutual respect' jokes don't write themselves, we need him and Harry out there repeating that they kind of share that (the respect obviously what did you think I meant though also the phrase) at every opportunity to keep it alive, and I guess it was Louis' turn. Eleanor meanwhile swooped in with a wild card today: she wished Clifford a happy birthday! (Louis and Freddie can't relate- honestly could you draw more attention to your silence about Freddie LMAO) And on a serious note, Louis also talks very sweetly about how he was distressed by the talk after Fizzy's passing but then saw that mostly it was actually love and support and that he really felt that.
Harry was seen in LA with a beard (no no, like facial hair, and lots of it wow babe), in town for Jeffrey's birthday party and I perhaps Grammys parties (and he was seen again, and again. I thought people in LA were supposed to play it cool about celeb sightings?) Rumor has it he's shooting 'something' (next video?) in a school in Florida soon, oOoh (while he's there for his upcoming show one assumes.)
Niall is home in Ireland and I'm gonna guess Irish instagram had to scramble not to crash with the volume of people posting about how excited they were to get to interview him, drink with him, or simply see him around. He promoed his Irish Late Late Show slot by saying "hello people of Ireland it's me, your son." He played NTMY and This Town but ALSO, we're told, recorded a couple more performances and another interview to be aired "in a few weeks' time to coincide with the release of his album." Oh really! Some other outlet said his album was out late March, but they weren't credible generally: the fact is we just don't know exactly but it will be soon.
And Liam, also partying in LA, was seen at the Spotify Grammys event.

What were the rest of your tags and thoughts?
tags - i was just gonna say that the promo plan he took for ntmy was the typical promo plan for a pop act. he did the major radios, the digital content, etc. and while i agree with some of the original criticisms that were raised re: lack of TV appearances, i can’t help but feel like people are being unfair towards the work that WAS put into it and/or comparing him to someone else’s promo strategies and THAT doesn’t work either cause we don’t have the intel they have. like on one hand you have people saying he should’ve done less and more quality promo. others saying he didn’t do enough. so which is it?
his budget was so clearly focused on the album. i wish his 2nd single wasn’t NJ but i also GET why it was. and THAT was overshadowed by the album cause that announcement brought on everything album related and HBW watch. and then he had so much planned for the album that got cancelled just from what we knew of. who knows what else they had?? they don’t need to disclose their strategic plans and goals to us. just cause we don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it’s bad or wrong. just cause they didn’t do what stans think is needed, doesn’t mean they didn’t meet THEIR goals on some level.
i’ve been doing research on spotify playlist placement and it seems like labels submit to spotify songs to be considered for placement, but also it’s like through connections - which he/capitol have a very solid relationship with spotify. they can NOT straight up pay for a TTH placement. that’s illegal. maybe there’s a budget placed there in a more ~discrete way, but this notion that capitol dropped the ball cause they didn’t bUY him that, is wrong.
his team KILLED it this time with their social media. the seamless posting. the customized posts per platform. hbw watch was A LOT. like there was a lot of GOOD things even if wasn’t huge on comparison to like slow hands. but he’s doing good and he has numbers for this era other artists would kill for. of course i want better for him always and want him to improve it all. he got #1 in the UK and #4 in the US (after rappers who pull numbers he simply will not be able to compete with).
but at this point, there’s just no reason to dwell? yes, another song could’ve been better performing but who can guarantee that? and the era has more or less ben written off, as much as that sucks? between all the cancelled promo, tour, EVERYTHING. it sucks but it is what it is. hopefully this time will help him really nail his sound, write songs that speak to him and really go off, then go perform them live. but until then?? just enjoy the songs hbw gave, yk?

I still don’t get how Niall can go #1 in the UK, and Capital FM with the biggest radio audience does not play his music AT ALL. And that he goes there, does interviews, they use him constantly, but no airplay. Also noticed he doesn’t have any songs even in the top 100 on US radio or new TTH Spotify placement. I know #1 wasnt possible with huge streams from Lil Uzi, but did they decide to conserve? Postponed tour dates affected ticket bundles along with cancelled promo but lack of radio is weird
UK charting doesn’t count tour bundling. Niall is promoted and his songs were on BBC Radio 1 and 2 playlists. He has done Live Lounge, has co-promoted with Lewis Capaldi (who is more popular in the UK), and NTMY was on the top of Sirius XM’s playlist for weeks. Niall has been on Graham Norton.
I think NTMY was on THH for weeks, and the streams do count toward RIAA certification— unlike Louis’ singles version of DLIBYH (only counting towards certification for the single, not for Walls the album).
You’ll also notice that Heartbreak Weather numbers are lower than Flicker. But all in all, it was enough for a UK number one, which is great for Niall!

As Horan grew in the band, so did his musical abilities. He was often seen with a guitar during the tours, and you could see his passion with playing instruments and the technicality of them. Fans were noticing more and more as he continued to grow right before everyone’s eyes. However, in a sad twist of events, One Direction announced a hiatus in early 2016 and left many fans wondering if that would be the end for all of the musicians in the band.
With the news first of Harry Styles signing a deal for a solo album, Capital Records had announced soon after that Niall had signed a deal with them. Niall stated in interviews that he never planned to do a solo album; he wanted to just “do nothing” but that he’s not the type of person to just sit around, so he started writing. The first solo music Horan released was “This Town” in 2016; a slow, melodic tune that fans alike loved. It was stripped down and showcased his vocal abilities, which were vastly underrated in the band. The reception was big and after “This Town,” Horan continued to write.
In 2017, Horan came out with his second single, “Slow Hands.” This song solidified Horan as his own artist and was the most successful Top 40 radio play from any of the solo efforts of the members of One Direction. On October 20, 2017, his solo debut album, Flicker, was released. Flicker is a far cry from One Direction’s usual pop ballads; it’s a soft, folk album with deeper lyrics and lots of guitars, piano and strings. Horan often chalks it up to growing up as a fan of bands like The Eagles, who are a heavy influence in his music.
After Flicker was released, it quickly made its way on the Top 200 Billboard charts, as well as becoming number one in Horan’s home country of Ireland. Horan released a live album featuring the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, which stripped down every song on Flicker and gave each one a new meaning. He did collaborations with Maren Morris and Julia Michaels, and Horan was coming out of his shell more and starting to gain a lot of recognition on his own.
Next, came a world tour. Horan embarked on a world tour for Flicker, often playing in smaller theaters versus arenas, and it gave a great, intimate vibe. Fans were enamored with his shows. They were significantly less produced than a One Direction show, but it fit Horan so well. Often it was just him, the instruments, and his band, which really suited him; you got to see more of who Niall was as a person, and as a musician and it’s something that fans appreciated. Watching Horan grow throughout the years has been incredible. He’s so poised, yet vulnerable at the same time; you can feel the emotion coming through each and every song. Between the beautiful yet heartbreaking “Flicker”, the message of “Mirrors”, the intricate and soft melody of “Paper Houses”, or the more upbeat “On The Loose”, Horan’s got a song for every person and feeling.
After watching an Apple Music documentary on Horan and the makings of Flicker, you can really see who Horan is. He’s thoughtful, technical and extremely intelligent about music; not just the lyrics or the melodies (which are beautifully written), but the way he knows what he wants for a particular song. He’s reserved, and a little vulnerable in his music, which all great musicians are. What really stood out to me was during the making of the song “Flicker”, where Horan tells his producer how special the song was to him and that he didn’t want it under-produced or over-produced. It showed the growth and the intelligence of a seasoned performer, and for that alone he’s showing how much of an actual musician he is.
If you haven’t had the chance to listen to Flicker yet, you should. It might just surprise you. As Horan gears up to release his second album (he just announced the name of his first single, “Nice To Meet Ya”, which will release on October 4), he’s successfully shed that “boyband” reputation, and has come into his own as a solid musician, one that will be around for many years to come.

i just wanted someone to wallow w/ me about it 😔
i beeeeeeeeeeen wallowing :/ i think they blew a lot of money on the ntmy push and really missed out on the ability to push no judgement a bit longer (whether or not it was the BEST choice for a single aside.. i think it’s objectively more catchy than ntmy) in terms of radio n spotify and it’s just 🤷‍♀️

I’m a bit greedy and would love to see him cover something not played publicly before. Maybe the Mayer song will eventually see the light of day 😅.
SAME!!! it would be so fun to be getting TWO brand new covers within the next few weeks, especially when he's got the range and talent to do it!! but i literally WOULD NOT SURVIVE IF HE EVER DID A JOHN MAYER COVER???? ESPECIALLY "I DON'T TRUST MYSELF"?????? i can't even think about it cause it stresses me out too much 😩

Adore You is doing well in the charts but guess what's doing even better? Falling! The people have spoken, and they want to suffer. Teen Vogue comes through with the best take yet again, this time on Harry's Guardian article, reminding us that "it’s entirely Harry’s right to share personal details about himself on his own terms. What’s more, however you choose to label yourself (or not label yourself, as the case may be) is valid, and doesn't make your sexual identity any less real." And it was observed that some of the more, uh, eye popping Tim Walker photos had been edited for the pop up store decorations and merch: to be blunt, Harry's package was edited right out of existence like a damn Ken doll.
Niall was on SNL last night! He played both his current singles with a capital L Look for each (a suit for NTMY that he captioned "pink to make the girls wink" in a later post) plus even more Looks in the bumpers plus a sketch in wow, need I say it, a Look. Ghost of a seventies swinger in a hot tub, and yes he did get to do an accent. NTMY video behind the scenes out and he opened the Boston Jingle Ball tonight (and remembered to bring his world saving water bottle out with him this time). Interviewed backstage about what music he's into right now he names Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves then goes on to say that he was looking at his favorites for the year on Spotify and it was "all unbelievable females" and that "the girls smashed it this year."
Liam says he thinks Put A Little Love On Me is terrific and that one of his great life regrets is taking a dare (*coughLouis*) to pants Harry onstage, that he's really sorry and wishes he hasn't done that, and Capital put out a Liam video where they talk to him about Harry (and then cut to an awful lot of footage of Harry for a video about Liam) and he's like, people got mad at me for saying we didn't have anything in common but like... look at us! Look at our music! There's nothing groundbreaking in the video but nothing real stressful either so I call that a win.

LIGHTS UP
And on the second day of promo Harry gave to us heart failure positive reinforcement! Happy Mental Health day, said Harold, as he subjected to us to anxiety the likes of which this fandom hasn't suffered in years. Like a release time announcement would kill you?? Anyway... Doyouknowwhoyouare dot com was discovered to be a delightful meme generator machine wherein you enter y/n and are told who you are! (and "TPWK, love, H") The 94 (!!!) possible answers are mostly mild and encouraging (Brave, Fantastic), some a little kickier (Free, A sweet creature, A whole snack, The bee's knees), and some a little... less encouraging? (Off your rocker, Impressively loud, the disappointing Reliable...) Harry himself (Up to no good, A legend, One of a kind) was all over, liking posts ('@Harry release new music'), following fans (and a band, Cannons), commenting on things and even posting! In reply to "I guess therapy can wait... HS2 and tour can't" he said, "go to therapy it's important. I'll wait for you" with the world mental health day hashtag, mhmm. Well maybe the hashtag isn't the thing and it's the 'go to therapy' part we should be looking at... Watching us go wild with the meme site, he added a "haaaaang on a second" to someone's 'HS2 tickets: you are free version.' He posted the DYKWYA image to his insta stories, Columbia posted it to theirs, Harris Reed posted a blue version to theirs, Harris (Creative) and Harry Lambert (Cheeky) posted their meme results. An Aussie DJ (Enthusiastic) invited fans to call in to get to introduce the new single, seemingly confirming that DYKWYA is the single title (as did an unverified Genius page), but it seemed he was just going off fan rumors. And sure enough... well we'll get to that. News articles about all this (and hoo boy is it getting press) all say that it's an album he's teasing anyway. About fifteen minutes before midnight UK time Spotify updated the covers of multiple playlists, including the New Music Fri list, with Harry pictures (new pics! HS2 pics!) prompting absolute pandemonium and nail biting awaiting the hour... and then nothing happened. Were you hoping Harry missed your embarrassing freakout? (Not alone) He was spotted on the street tonight in London, he might have still been out? Lol nope! He was right there lurking: after the chaos died down he liked a punny tweet and one from a stressed out fan. And then did things calm down while we all waited for midnight Eastern? No ma'am! They did not! Then spotify sent! out! notifications! Saying Listen Now to Harry Styles' new single Lights Up! The links did not work of course but UMM!! And that friends is where we're leaving you, tune in tomorrow for the exciting conclusion...(all of us in therapy for our anxiety)
Louis (Impressively loud, A sweet creature) posted a cute selfie to his story. Stellar Magazine, coming out Sunday, has a Louis interview. Tickets for the Nashville show went on sale this morning, I hope everyone trying for them got good ones! The poor Mexican fans, on the other hand, (Determined) are locked in an epic struggle for Telehits tickets: the passes are free but you have to win them through the Telehits TV show by answering questions via email and hoping for the best. Add in two 1D boys? 80k emails and a crashed system! 80 of 60,000 tickets have been distributed thus far. I'm truly praying for y'all and that website (Trying your best) in this stressful time. The good Telehits news: the show will be streamed live! In HQ! Hell yes.
Niall (Sassy, Loyal) was papped in NYC and continued to have interviews air but mostly stuck to his announced break. The media went heavy on OooOo Niall and Selena Gomez?? even going so far as to publish pictures claiming they were of Selena arriving at Niall's LA home: Niall's assistant Tara (Reliable) replied to a tweet being like uh isn't Niall in NY to say yes that was correct, they were in NY, with a pic and everything. Niall boosted Shawn Mendes (Extra) singing NTMY and let us know about a NTMY insta filter that allows us all to pretend we're wearing shades in the rain, why Niall. Why.

If we're going for Nothing and Acoustic NTMY then you can't leave out the Spotify version of NJ and Champaign Lovers. That boy's got LAYERS like a frickin onion. Can't put him in a box. And unlike 1 or two other members of ex band who make the music they like and it doesn't suit them. Niall loves pop and he's kick ass at pop. I don't think it's hurting him. I'd just like to see more of the lane that the four things above fit into. Hell even Dress. It's Irish and folky but great visuals.
oh my god, champagne lovers ESPECIALLY? i have so many questions about that song and where it came from, because it’s so unlike anything else he’s released so far? it’s got this sense of dark whimsy as it twists and turns through metaphors and colloquialisms, which only adds to the darkness and sadness of the story it’s telling? and then add to that the fact that it sounds dramatic and theatrical enough to be a fucking bond song and the fact that he won’t say a SINGLE WORD about it, and it’s just??? what the fuck sir???

Niall Horan: "Nice To Meet Ya"
If great songs sound like a time, I know exactly which time "Nice To Meet Ya" sounds like: one of the three-minute, fashion-filled montages in that seminal and formative documentary*, The Devil Wears Prada. It has all the zooming highs and buzzy guitars to fuel our heroine into some big challenge and a storyline simple enough to serve as major motivation. Niall Horan is back, baby! And! He's straight-up obsessed with you.
The track, the lead single from his upcoming second solo album, is different from his prior work on Flicker in a lot of ways: His voice is deeper, for one, and he plays with it in a way that suggests his maturity both as an artist and as a general person. Where Flicker was largely folk-driven, "Nice To Meet Ya" is more playful, with fewer strings attached. In short, it's the perfect rev up to the last three months of the decade. Go ahead, do something kind of rash. Niall's got the soundtrack for you.
*You might say DWP is not a documentary. While you are not technically incorrect, you would still be wrong. —Ella Cerón

Niall Horan sounds like someone who is anything but lonely … he’s also the only guy I know that puts on sunglasses rather than opening an umbrella when it rains. Anyways, Horan’s latest single “Nice To Meet Ya” is based on a  real-life experience he had. There’s no deep meaning just another fun night where he literally goes out and hooks up with a girl. While I don’t guarantee listeners will have the same result as Horan on their next escapade, I do recommend to add this to your I’m Feeling Lucky playlist.

I know you think there’s a deliberate reason to hold back Louis on Capital FM. But I’m so curious about Niall. How does he get BBCR1 spins only? And even there he is just slowly moving up now. Meanwhile nothing on Capital FM even though he did interviews there, put a tattoo on Roman. Why do that for no spins? NTMY has less UK airplay than LU but is top 20 on Shazam and now Top 10 on iTunes after his performance, with a predicted top 20 on official charts this week. How can Capital FM ignore it?
Most radio playlists are determined by music directors, not by the DJs, so the real question is why do music directors choose what they choose?
Louis has also gone on Capital FM before (for BTY promo, and for MY which was never aired).
As for Niall, his label has given him nice global support for each single released, but Capitol is a predominantly US label. I don’t know whether it has the same clout with UK radio stations as, for example, Sony Music UK... but this is my ignorance, and only a guess.
Shazam and iTunes are global phenomena. Sony Music is also heavily helping Harry in Spotify by making sure his streams take off prior to his album release. HS1 suffered on charting/ streaming numbers; this is a weakness in HSHQ strategy which Sony has recognized and is correcting. Streaming also does not depend on in-person promotion, which Harry doesn’t seem to love. It is expensive investment, but yields nice returns in terms of RIAA certification and tour sales, and probably awards nominations.
In contrast, Niall likes in-person promo: live performances, tv interviews, Twitter and Instagram engagement with fans. This strategy doesn’t yield as fast a return as paying for a Spotify playlist position, and it depends on a personality that is able to consistently engage fans, but Niall and Lewis Capaldi are great at in-person engagement. They’re funny and fun. Niall has a happy-go-lucky persona. His persona makes the audience feel good, happy, in the zone. He can and will slowly move up the charts. Niall is also an established, very good live performer; people who have seen him will see him again.
I think that Louis also has a similar extremely positive in-person engagement. His fans already love him; now we are starting to slowly feel good when we see him interview or perform. We feel more relaxed and less on edge. We are hearing his stories in detail at last. And his appeal is toward a wide demographic— to young and old audiences, to those nostalgic for a 90’s sound, to those who love a “man of the people,” to guys and girls. He comes across as relatable, compassionate, funny. Hopefully this translates to an increase in radio play and requests.

We have been looking forward to this since we loved Horan’s first album, Flicker.
The song does have a hint of heartbreak, with lyrics such as, “I want your number tattooed on my arm in ink I swear, cause when the morning comes, I know you won’t be there,” however, the melody does a good job of disguising it. The lyrics give way to Niall’s vulnerability, as he explains to The Telegraph that most of these songs came from a gloomy place.
As we learned from Flicker, Horan’s a clever writer and it definitely shows here. The opening piano sets the tone as more instruments are introduced, with a killer guitar coming in after the first verse. The little nuances he adds like “I’ve got love for you” in the background of the chorus is genius. It’s the things like this that show how much he’s grown as an artist.
Horan’s a breath of fresh air in a music industry currently full of Pop and EDM music – he comes in with a swagger all his own featuring Americana, folk and rock tunes that make you want to roll the windows down, turn the music up in your car and sing along. After the release of “Nice To Meet Ya”, one thing’s for sure: Horan is solidifying himself as a true superstar on his own terms.
