It’s finished…I wrote my Yandere! Miguel O’Hara longfic and lived to tell the tale. Istg not a day has gone by without me cursing Miguel bc of this. To those who’ve already read their story, thank you so much for your lovely tears feedback  (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )

With that over, it’s time for another Author’s Note!! This is just me rambling about my writing process, headcanons, and creative details in this fic. I hope y’all enjoy this behind-the-scenes perspective <3

♡ Fun fact, the only reason why I got into Spiderverse was bc my socmeds were flooded with Miguel O’Hara. My brainrot was so bad that the fanfics weren’t enough; and even then, I didn’t expect this idea to reach 7.6k words. It was also my first attempt at dual POV and more detailed spice ( ´•̥̥∇•̥̥` )

♡ One major inspiration for this fic was the popular “Miguel falls for his wife’s Variant” trope, and I hope you all enjoyed my take on that idea!! Giving Variant! Darling her own angsty backstory was a must, given my fondness for twisted happy endings <3

꒰ Characters ꒱

♡ We don’t talk about how much Miguel O’Hara tormented me in my attempts to properly write his character. I headcanon him as a strict, overprotective yandere who is only cruel to his darling if provoked. I find his dynamic with Variant! Darling particularly interesting as it opens up his guilt, trauma, and breeding kink yearning for his lost family.

♡ Variant! Darling is the unhappiest version of Miguel’s wife. She has low self-esteem and impostor syndrome, which gets worse as she learns about her more successful Variants. As a result, she craves external validation but doesn’t believe she deserves it. Despite her inferiority complex, she does has positive traits and skills which her other versions don’t have.

♡ LYLA, my love!! I had a lot of fun writing her scenes. She is simply the best wingman/ voice of reason that ever lived, and one of the few people allowed to interact with Variant! Darling.

꒰ Literary Motifs ꒱

♡ The Spider and the Fly by Mary Howitt - Cheers to Miguel reminding me of a poem from my childhood. It was the main inspiration for the title, Darling’s character, and other details~

♡ The red thread of fate - referenced at the end of iv. triangle web purely out of self-indulgence. I just rlly love that motif, and it helps that Miguel’s webs are also red xD

♡ Spiderweb varieties - I couldn’t think of anything else for the section dividers, thus I embarked on online research ft. unavoidable spider pics. The webs were picked for the following reasons::

i. spiral orb web - the most basic and common web design

ii. funnel web - hiding place for spider, used for surprise attacks

iii. lace web - I ran out of common web varieties and it sounds pretty

iv. triangle web - not sticky, fuzzy threads used to entangle and smother prey

v. mesh web - similar to cobwebs but found outdoors, used to entangle prey

vi. cobweb - sticky, irregular, tangled, found indoors

vii. sheet web - typically permanent, regularly repaired by the spider

Mere words cannot describe how many times I died revising this chapter. It was pretty difficult to write due to my inexperience with smut, my fear of making Miguel OOC, and the transition from noncon to angst to comfort. Ultimately, I think I did a decent job at writing emotional smut and indulging my hornii thoughts for Miguel. What do you guys think?? I’d love to hear your thoughts ^^;

something I will continue to dread as I near getting into/back into storytelling in the sims is making poses in game, because I fucking SUCK at imagining scenes, I mean, I *can* imagine them, but I picture them 10x more animated (like moving and shit not still frames), so trying to imagine a scene frame by frame with the dialogue I want is incredibly difficult, something I never really mentioned about my previous storytelling posts is I almost never have it planned out at least fully, like I'll have a *concept* and then just grow around that, and often times I add stuff I didn't even consider adding, like in the Vday post, everything except for the "happy valentines day""I love you / even if it's wrong" and Fading back and forth to the covered pics of Malcolm was pretty much 'improv'ed- aka just made up after taking a bunch of screenshots- So with that being said, I feel like my personal confidence in making these story posts is rlly gonna drop 😭 like I can do poses in blender with a scene with the impression/idea that it'll be done in blender and not moved to TS4, but for some reason the idea of making my poses and then having to move them into TS4 is so dreadful.... cause like- what if it doesn't look good with the scene/furniture in game, I can't really just keep jumping in and out of TS4 and blender to fix it- I know some, if not most, people will say to just import the furniture in so I can pose it better, but going back to the beginning, I don't plan these scenes ahead of time mostly, I usually do that AFTER I get poses and/or the idea of what I want the scene and stuff to look like, I mean- sure, with an idea of what I want the scene to look like should make it easier, but it does not AT ALL, because I usually end up almost completely changing what I intended the room/scene to look and feel like- Going back to Vday, the Alexander prep post rooms looked completely different in my mind (albeit they did have one thing in common; minimalist, rich-ish looking, and lots of black), but I ended up going back on my idea and didn't make it look near what I was thinking of ☠️

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING RECAP!!!!!

In totally random order bc brainrot. 

– don pedro was played by a guy in his seventies? He was an amazing actor, i had just heard people refer to him as younger? Idk. 

– BENDICK CAME AND FLIRTED WITH ME IN CHARACTER!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!! There was tons of audience engagement and he came up the aisle and sat next to me and flirted for 80 seconds before his cue. I was so awkward lol but *swoons* 

– I WILL HAPPILY DIE FOR BEATRICE!!!!

– the play was renacted in the 1970s in Franklin, Tennessee. (not where i live, sorry everyone.) the music was played live on stage and was so dkjfhjdhf amazing, and the costumes were such a nice flair. Hero tended more towards flowy dresses + beatrice rocked the tracksuits + don john slayed in purple pants. 

– the watch slayed so hard. Despite having very little speaking parts, the stage actions and facial expressions were hilarious. 

– leonida and don pedro totally have something going on

– during any scenes requiring eavesdropping, the character in question would slink through the audience (who were seated on the ground/lawn chairs) or crawl under the stage

– the facial expressions restored my will to live

– you will suddenly realize how many sex jokes there are when you actually see a shakespeare play preformed

– THERE WAS A PARTY SCENE AND WE GOT TO GET UP AND DANCE

– the friar was dressed like a hippie gandalf and his first words were ‘groovy’

– hero was a rlly pretty crier

– they sang going to the chapel at the wedding

– it was actually illegal to take pics/vids but i hunched over and tried to get some through the pockets of my sweatshirt bc Tumblr Friends Over Rules

– i genuinely loved how beatrice was just. Loud and funny and strong and the point wasn’t that she changed, she found someone who loved that too. 

– the captain of the watch was absolutely hilarious (unintentionally)

– i wish they had played The Man by taytay during beatrice’s were that I a man speech (courtesy of the queen amara)

thoughts and reacts on the first part of luke's bday2 event story

let me begin with: i thought we were free...i thought we had been set free from tHIS DUMB BLOCKY SWEATER BUT HES STILL GOT IT AND WEARING IT AGAIN IAVSIFLUASVFASF 😭😭😭

that aside tho, this event just started and im already emotional over various things.

first off: luke's come SUCH a long way since last year in terms of accepting Good Things. just look at these three pics, the first one being from his bday1 event last year, second and third pic from beginning scene of current bday2 event now

like....man...the Progress thats happened. last year, he showed so much hesitation and also guilt, he hesitated to look forward to his birthday because it was rlly key back then that he regretted his disappearance from mc's life and also in general he was just Way Worse at allowing himself Joys

but now, hes more unrestrained in showing his happiness, to the point of even joking about it with mc. luke pearce really went from "have i earned the right to be happy?" to ":D what are we doing this year? im sure im gonna love it :D"

im so proud of him :((((

second off: im in general just endeared at the little task hangout stuff so far for the event, like, the little travel tasks.

in vyn's event it was very romantic locations and i adored that. and i also adore how Different luke's is cuz it's like..........romance but make it mundane and small and comfortable, theyre literally just at a mall shopping for decor and luke takes a whole description line to help some kids win at a shooting arcade game (which, btw, was SO CUTE TO VISUALIZE IN MY HEAD HHHHH) and then placing mc's cold hands in his pockets to warm them up like.....

this is just me once again professing my adoration for the kinds of love that are so small and everyday but still mean the world because those everyday little things are happening with the both of them Together and By Each Other's side, yknow. thats always the main vibe and aura i get from luke and mc's relationship and i will never stop loving it. //holds them gently

Okay so. I just rewatched Stage Fright and I still can’t believe they really gave us this brazen piece of Fraphne fanfic. Here are my highlights/things I didn’t notice the first time:

We’re so used to just having little interactions or hints between them and feeding off the tiniest looks/comments that this movie rlly hits you like a TRUCK. Watching Daphne literally sing ‘I love you’ to Fred almost put me in a cardiac arrest.

We get to see more in this movie around the cute little friendships within the gang; Daphne goes to Velma for advice and they have an adorable sisterly bond, the same thing happens when Fred asks Shaggy and Scooby what to do. I’d like to think that this leads to Shaggy and Velma gossiping in the back of the van about how Fred and Daph just need to talk to each other and how oblivious they are.

When Scooby saves Shaggy and he gets head pats (not about Fraphne but it was super cute so shh)

How obviously neurodivergent Fraphne are in this - Daphne’s ADHD rambling as well as both of them being unable to read the extremely obvious social cues from each other. Even when Daphne admits her love to Velma, she’s genuinely convinced this is a secret nobody could figure out. I love them, our clueless losers <3

The way that Daphne looks at Fred when they're about to split up for the night (my profile pic rn, so cute)

How Daphne immediately clams up and stumbles over her words, rambling on nervously at even the slightest suggestion that they might be into each other (e.g. at the comment 'you two make a cute couple) - this is a girl who's canonically had her own tv show, sang in public multiple times, she's a confident speaker. But her crush on Fred makes her nervous :')

When Fred realises that Daphne's trying to throw the competition with the silly jokes after their performance, he picks it up straight away and goes full ham with a smile, he's happy to support her and have a bit of fun even though they're losing out on so much money and also embarrassing themselves on national television. But he doesn't care, he's just having a laugh with Daph.

The overwhelming frustration that comes with the credits scene where they’re about to officially confess and Velma interrupts them. I’m still in recovery as we speak.

Finally can we just appreciate Daphne's lyrics to Fred's song for a sec because I'm literally gonna implode:

these were my original possibilities for the promo pic for Seek and Destroy. after consulting with my friend (love u corpse <3), i settled on the second image. HOWEVER, bc i changed the opening scene, i realized that i would need to change chai's outfit in the promo pic to reflect the changes i made

but then i wound up not liking this one much either bc. i can't rlly replicate chai's actual outfit in this chapter in-game. so i took one that doesn't have him in it :]

and then i redid it AGAIN bc i wound up changing the almost the entire premise of the chapter. whoopsies.

I can't really tell if you're talking about blender rendering or rendering like in photoshop, so... I'll just do blender tips and tricks, even tho I don't have a lot 💀 and a lot of the magic comes from putting the rendered products into an editing program (which I can also do a post about how I render if you'd like that :')) To preface: I make all my poses myself (besides the first render i made), and I use blender 2.83 👍 For blender: don't be afraid to play with colors in the lighting! Usually I have two lights (depending on the project), one white light for normal lighting (this doesn't apply to darker scenes like Nirvana's post or Kyneva's p2 post) and a colored light, use the light to your advantage especially to create atmosphere, Nirvana's post and this post are a good example, since I rlly utilized lighting to create an atmosphere (besides the text lol), I don't really know what else to say, but utilize lighting 👍😭 USE REFERENCES !! I use them off and on, mainly cause I can never find what I'm looking for, Kyneva's pose and Nanel's pose were heavily referenced by images I found, Nanel was moreso to make sure I got the hands to look right. A couple poses from the Roo-seum were referenced, but like Nanel, it was for anatomy. As someone who CANNOT anatomy for the life of me, utilize references, even if you take the pics yourself, refs are SO good especially for anatomy checks, and just to get ideas for poses if you don't really know what to do for a pose. That's kinda it, a lot of what I learned is self-taught other than the VERY very basics, everything else in my rendering process (including non-blender posts) all heavily relies on editing, and again, if you'd like that, I can make a post about it :)
