I Became a Mama Bear
It is Saturday. I am volunteering in my usual capacity at the family center. Outside, lines of people are here to receive a box of free food. Some people come – not because they are hungry. They come because they are welcome. No one is turned away. I am in the family center store at my usual post in the jewelry department. A Nordstrom store upgraded and purchased new jewelry cases. They donated…

Hello everyone!
I have not been active on here in forever. I created a Tumblr years ago and I now forget how to fully use it. I have to do this for my class on social media. If anyone has any helpful tips or tricks feel free to let me know!
My name is Maura and I am 36 years old. I am the single mama to an amazing boy named Gio. He is my world. I am currently back in school to finish my degree in Corporate Communications. I am excited to be back and eager to learn. While not in school I am usually running my son back and forth from the many sports teams he plays for. He loves playing and watching sports more than anything. In my free time I browse social media, and look at things online. I love shopping and am a bit of a shopping addict. It is a thrill to find a great deal! I love all things fashion, jewelry and skin-care/make-up. I would love to work in either marketing or PR one day for a brand that I love. My favorite clohting brand is Lululemon. Working for them would be my dream job! I have retail sales experience and have sold jewelry for over three years. At my last job I was the top salesperson. I find it is easier to sell something that you love and believe in. It comes naturally. I love helping people find great products that work for them that I have tried. I have a good sense of style and am always on the lookout for new products in skincare and makeup. I recently redid my bathroom and had to throw away old makeup. I treated myself to some new products. I will post about my recent purchases once they all arrive.

still thinking about harvey’s mom. she comes to visit harvey at the office to ask for money and stylistically she has to look wildly different than the rest of the cast…. i want her to look like an extra in the sopranos—gaudy jewelry, dated shoes, thick french manicure like its 2004. and she represents Where He Came From shes long island through and through AND she represents class difference shes not dripping with labels like everyone else in the office so A) shes wearing a dress she got at nordstrom rack and B) asking him for money. idk why maybe her husband needs surgery or something. anyway she represents his Nouveau Riche insecurities while telling him he’s exactly like her. she tells him to his face he’s just like her. its very much like her saying you dont you dare judge me youre exactly like me. is there a way she could call him a whore to his face i cant think of how maybe she finds out about some shady deal he made with some guy and it’s framed as sex. anyway she also says that marcus got all his dads best qualities marcus is just like his father, but hes just like her. all of this happens in his office in the span of like three minutes

School Style <3
This post is a little guide I made for the upcoming school year. I love school, but hate feeling gross under the florescent lights. I like dressing nicely, but hate feeling like a try-hard. My #1 priority in class to be comfortable so I can pay attention to the professor, and not my outfit.
I take a lot of style inspiration from Stockholm girlies year round, especially during the school year. Here are some of my favorite examples found via Pinterest:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nice basics in high quality materials and neutral colors are essential to this style. The goal is to mix and match pieces as much as possible in order to save time and money.
Invest in:
- 2 or 3 neutral high quality sweaters
- 2 flattering pairs of jeans
- 1 pair of mini Uggs
- 1 pair of white, cream or grey sneakers
- 1 matching set of sweats preferably in grey, white, or navy (not joggers!! sweatpants)
- 1 tote bag for school (a cute backpack works too) preferably from Longchamp, Zadig & Voltaire, or if you can afford it, Goyard.
If you feel comfortable getting a fake off of DHGate, go for it. However I recommend using second-hand sites like TheRealReal to purchase a bag for a lower price.
- neutral claw clips
- jewelry!! the key to making the outfit look complete
You can find high quality basics anywhere!
The easiest places to shop for me are Aritiza, Asos, Ssense, TheRealReal and Nordstrom. However, I have found a lot of my favorite pieces from the thrift as well!
More Style Inspiration:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a side note, nothing pairs better with this style than a fresh blowout. I hate using heat on my hair however, so I recommend using a heatless styling rod from Kitsch.

Good luck to you during this upcoming school year!

Can I ask where you shop for clothes? your style is 🤩
oh thank you so much!!
so disclaimer, I am a small fat (actual term on the scale of 'fategories', helpful to look up!!), but still plus size, so it's hard to find things that fit my ass sometimes lol. Bc the fashion world is very not friendly for anyone, I do end up shopping at places that are considered fast fashion. It's unfortunate and i'm trying to get better about my capitalist consumption, but again, being plus size is hard. It's about balancing what you can afford, how often you buy clothes, and looking into smaller businesses (especially Queer, Black, or Indigenous business)
But for pants, I often default to fast fashion like ASOS and Nova Men. They just unfortunately have the jeans that fit me best. They're both good places to start, if you have a similar body type to me and need more affordable options
I thrift a lot! And I also vulture department stores for deals and sales. I like Macy's a lot actually LOLLL, and I personally think Nordstrom is overrated. I really like off-price department stores too, like Saks Off 5th, which sell overstock from their more expensive branches.
For small businesses, I really like Stuzo Clothing for their fun shirts and hats. Black lesbian owned!
There's also the pretty well-known queer owned WILDFANG, which recently increased their sizes by a lot! I haven't bought from them just yet (they're style isn't really me as much), but I have seen their quality in person and it's good!
I've been a little obsessed with getting my jewelry from Vitaly. Don't think they're queer or bipoc owned though
ANYWAY sorry to ramble, hope that's some fun info for you to get started! Thanks for liking my style!

Head's up to any ladies who want to graduate from cheap costume jewelry and buy core pieces/accessories to have as staples in their wardrobe but don't know where to start without breaking the bank:
Stainless steel looks just like sterling silver but it doesnt tarnish. At all. It's good for sensitive skin and those with allergies. And is not expensive cause people usually pass it up for other metals. (Usually marked as 316L).
If you want actual precious metals like gold, I've found really good pieces for a fraction of the price on clearance sections of major jewelry stores like Kay, but also Nordstrom Rack consistently has great stuff marked down to like 1/3 of the original price.
Avoid gold-plated and vermeil "gold". It's the most shallow coating of gold and scratches off or turns color in no time. Otherwise, gold-filled looks just like solid gold and if you take care of it, it should last a long time.

if we were to pretend that each eddie was modern (like modern!cowboy!eddie, modern!mafia!eddie, etc., just for the sake of this stupid ask) what stores do you think they would like
oooh ok. let me think tbh.
bc like I know cowboy!eddie would probably go to goodwill or vintage stores for his band tees. maybe target or somewhere if they had a cool one, but you bought him a few from abercrombie when they came in and he was kinda huffy about how much they were because he didn't want to get them dirty. other than that, I feel like he's at cabela's or dicks or tractor supply bc he knees jeans and carharrt and work boots. will get his hats from somewhere kinda boujee and splurge on them and has like one pair of ostrich leather boots that are his "nice boots" for dates and occasions lol.
mafia!eddie like babe he's in designer lol. he gets a lot of custom made suits and tailored items, but he's a big rag and bone button down, sometimes givenchy if he's feeling wild for his "work clothes". ironically loves versace a lot, but more of their jewelry or more understated things. you really think it's because he likes the medusa emblem. if he has to shop in a store, it's either saks or nordstrom, but he most likely has a stylist or orders online.
older!eddie keeps the department stores alive bc they are "reliable". loves dillards for most of his clothes, but also loves dicks or dunhams as well for things like utility jackets or work shoes. used to like jcpenney a lot but swears they've "gone down".
I honestly don't know about the others as much. like truly I don't know where men shop lol. like I love to shop but with peace and love when I was shopping even when I was with a guy... it wasn't for them. or I'd pick something out and they'd make a face so it was over lol.
rockstar!eddie has a stylist. modern!eddie probably likes american eagle lol but idk. I honestly don't know lmaooo.

V-Day Gift Guide '23💌
Tumblr media
It’s that season where everything is pink and red, hearts cover the stores, and love is alllll overrrrr! Y'all know what that means; it’s February, the month of love!
I personally adore Valentine’s Day, always have. Remember passing out little Valentine’s in school and getting the cutest treats? 🥰 Yeah, I always been a fan.
Plus, I love love. I’m here for alllll the cute lovey dovey shit!
So, with that being said, I decided to make things a little easy for anyone finding themselves a little stumped on what to get that special someone and cooked up a ‘lil gift guide! [ur welcome (˘ε˘˶ )]
From bougie gifts to the stuff that counts, I got y'all 💌
FOR HER:
1. Lego Flower Bouquet | Amazon $48
Tumblr media
What girl doesn't love flowers? So, what about some that last forever? Plus, y'all can have a cute little date night building legos together. So cute!
2. Venus Et Fleur Flowers | Not even gon’ hold yall, these hoes pricey. Prices range.
Tumblr media
So luxe, so chic, so stunning!
You seen ‘em on IG & TikTok for sure, but Venus has been running the luxury flower game since like 2015! [I remember turning 15 and swearinggg up and down I was gon’ wake up to the biggest box on my bday. Ha! 🤣] Although they are very expensive, I’ve heard they are well worth the $$$ + do last long!
Tumblr media
3. SKIMS | Skims.com $15-100
Tumblr media
What did Kim put in these? Let’s talk about it!
Every girl loves a good lounge set and basic staples that she can build outfits around so treat your girl to some Skims! Comfy, cute, and not wild expensive. I recommend the “Fit’s Everybody T-shirt” + “Fit’s Everybody Crew Neck Long Sleeve Bodysuit”
4. Fragrances
Tumblr media

I swearrrrr by my planner! It makes my life go so much smoother and is a place where I can situate my thoughts, plans, goals, expenses, etc. Help ya shorty tackle the new year and get her together with a planner. 💅🏽
2023 is about elevating, feel me?
6. Diamonds are a girls best friend, right? We’re talking Jewelry!
Tumblr media
Good quality jewelry don't gotta cost you bands, you can get some cute, good quality pieces for the low. Plus, girls can get away with "costume" jewelry [jewelry from Dior, LV, etc., is “costume” jewelry, none of that shit is real.] too.
I love getting my pieces from Swarovski! Amazing quality, durable, and the shineeee! But I also love Pandora, The M Jewelers, and Nordstrom for when it comes to “designer” jewelry.
Pictured Above:
Swarovski Pink Baguette Ring: $145
Swarovski Tennis Bracelet: $195

Every girl needs a good quality bag and lucky for y'all, designers love releasing the cutest on-theme purses for February, here's my picks;
Tumblr media
.
.
.
4 THE FELLAS:
Ladies! Our men DESERVE to get spoiled, too! Valentine’s Day is not just about us, show your man your appreciation and treat him! I picked out a few of my faves for the men this year.
1. Sneakers
If your man is anything similar to mine, sneakers are one of the for sure ways to his heart. [& y’all better not come up in here with that old wives tale about buying ya man shoes!]
Plus, great thing about sneakers is there are so many different styles and color ways that you're for sure to find something that will fit whatever your man’s style is! But, if you want to keep it on theme with V-Day, lot’s of sneakers come out with Valentine Edition pairs.
My personal favorites are the Nike Air Force 1 Low Valentine’s Day [2021] | Stockx $225
Tumblr media
2. Playstation 5 / PC
What guy doesn't game? Upgrade him this year, sis! I plan to.
3. Hat / Beanie
Tumblr media
Men love them a fye hat! And also, beanies are the hottest accessory right now. Think of a brand, I'm sure they got they own version!
I love the hats from Hat Club, they always got some dope color ways.
Brands that got some fire beanies rn:
Billionaire Boys Club
Carhartt
Stussy
MM6 by Margiela
Supreme
4. Cologne
Tumblr media
I think I speak for all the ladies when I say; ain't nothing better than a man that smells good all the time!😮‍💨
These are all colognes I have personally purchased for my man and we loved.
My Cologne Picks (in my favorite order)
Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb Night Vision | $119
Bleu De Chanel | $102
Coach for Men | $105
Dolce & Gabbana | $135
5. Wallet / Card Holder
Tumblr media
Men love them nice wallet so why not upgrade him? Think about it… he’s probably using the same wallet since forever ago, which no problem with that buuut an upgrade is always nice!
Pictured Above:
Burberry Sandon TB Monogram Card Case | $260
SAINT LAURENT PARIS Credit Card Wallet | $295
Givenchy Card Holder | $370
SAINT LAURENT PARIS Bifold Wallet | $525
6. Add to his passion/hobby! 🎭🎨🎙️🎞️
What does your man like to do? Is he an artist? Is he a collector? Is he into music? Or film? Think of your man’s interests and base a gift around that! Let’s say your man wants to start exploring photography, a good gift would be a tripod or ring light. Maybe he want’s to start up his own business? Purchase the LLC! Podcast? Buy him a nice mic! Or, if he’s into collecting a certain thing, add to it!
I think y’all get the point, lol.
7. Custom Rug / Art Piece
Tumblr media
Men love art, too!
My man is slowly but surely tapping more into his artistic side and it's been so dope to see how his style progresses and what peeks his interests now.
A dope way to add to your man's area is by commissioning a custom piece for him! It can be a painting, rug, sculpture, etc. of whatever he likes! A rug of his favorite character, album, or even ya body ;) would be fye.
Pictured Above:
Curves By Sean Brown CD Rugs [MBDTF & VOL 3] | $250
Lighter Tufted Rugs by SatoriRugs on ETSY | $35
Wonderland Rug by @chris.cassette on IG | Prices range
Baby Milo tufted rug on ETSY | Prices range
Tumblr media
EXTRAS:
KickBricks: Sneaker Building Blocks Handcrafted Air Jordan 3 | ETSY $59 | They have a few different sneaker options to pick from.
BE@RBRICK | Prices range | Super cute art piece and so many different styles + collabs.
.
.
.
FOR YALL💏:
Matching tracksuits!: Such a cute + fly way to be headass! Lmao. Nah, but theres nothing cuter than a matching tracksuit, even cuter when you're matching with ya boo! So many brands have come out with their own variation of tracksuits so you're sure to find something that fit's yall <3
Brands with fye tracksuits right now:
Diesel
Marc Jacobs
Polo by Ralph Lauren
Palm Angels
.
.
.
FOR YOUR GFS👯‍♀️:
Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about just romantic love! Valentine's Day is the perfect holiday to show your girlfriends some luv, too! Best part? It doesn't have to be expensive!
Here's my fave gifts to give my friends:
Tumblr media
Self-Care Basket: One or my favorite things to make for my loved ones <3 You can really put thought into it and cater it to whoever you’re making it for! Some of my favorite things to put in are: A good book, blanket, eye masks, bath salts, candle, silk pillow case, etc.
Cute Treats + Sweets: Strawberries or preferred fruits, pretzels, etc! Super easy to make and fun, tbh.
A candle: I love gifting candles! The Replica candles are amazing! But, if you’re looking for a more affordable option, the Sand + Fog and the Sand + Paws candles are amazing! You can usually find them at Tj Maxx or Marshall’s for around $8-15 depending on the size. Also, candle's make cure decor, too. Body-shaped candles are such a cute, chic gift.
Wine + Matching glass: Also a great gift for a friend! I want to get more into wine this year so I don’t have many suggestions other than the only one I’ve tried; Stella Rose, lol. But, good wine + a pretty wine glass = perfect duo 😏
.
.
.
Alright babes, that's it for the gift guide! I truly hope y'all enjoyed this years V-day gift guide & that y'all came out of this with some dope gift ideas for your loved one(s)!
If you do end up copping something from/or because of this guide, pls lmk! I'd love to know what y'all took away from this! 💌
Until next time,
H 💋

Minneapolis: A Shopping and Dining Haven, from High-End Boutiques to Multicultural Markets
Minneapolis is a city that truly has something for everyone when it comes to shopping and dining. Whether you're looking for high-end boutiques or ethnic markets, you'll find it all here.
One of the most popular shopping destinations in Minneapolis is the famous Mall of America. This massive shopping center is home to over 500 stores, including designer brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton, as well as popular department stores like Nordstrom and Macy's. In addition to the shopping, the mall also features an amusement park, an aquarium, and a variety of dining options. It's the perfect place to spend a day if you want to indulge in some retail therapy.
Tumblr media
But if luxury shopping isn't your thing, don't worry. Minneapolis also offers a wide variety of unique and independently-owned boutiques. The North Loop neighborhood, for example, is home to a number of trendy boutiques that specialize in fashion, home decor, and jewelry. You'll find everything from vintage clothing to handmade ceramics here. Many of these boutiques also offer a wide range of dining options, from farm-to-table restaurants to hip cafes.
Minneapolis is also a great place to experience different cultures and cuisines. The Cedar-Riverside neighborhood is home to a large Somali community, and it's a great place to find authentic Somali food. You'll find a variety of restaurants and markets here, serving up dishes like sambusas, a deep-fried pastry filled with meat or vegetables, and cambuulo, a traditional Somali soup made with meat, vegetables and spices.
Another great place to experience different cultures and cuisines is the Midtown Global Market. This market features a wide variety of vendors, selling everything from Mexican street tacos to Thai curry. You can also find a variety of international grocery stores here, where you can purchase ingredients to make your own ethnic dishes at home.
Minneapolis also has a great farmers market scene. The Minneapolis Farmer's Market is the largest outdoor farmers market in the state, open year-round. You can find fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and more. The market is a great place to shop for fresh and locally-sourced ingredients, and to enjoy a variety of food from local vendors.
In conclusion, Minneapolis is a city that truly has something for everyone when it comes to shopping and dining. From luxury boutiques to ethnic markets, and from high-end restaurants to street food, you'll find it all here. Whether you're looking to indulge in some retail therapy, experience different cultures and cuisines, or simply enjoy a delicious meal, Minneapolis has something to offer. So, pack your bags and come to Minneapolis, you won't regret it!
