With the general way that Dwarves are portrayed in fantasy series, I’d expect that many of them would be foul-mouthed... but given the two dwarves we do see in the Symphonia universe, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some kind of vow that forbids foul language, haha. They’re both very well-disciplined, it seems. If I’d put Altessa on here, he’d probably be right there beside Dirk.

In my fanon Dwarven Vows list, there aren’t any that explicitly forbid swearing, but there are:

Dwarven Vow 47: “It’s better to be quiet than to sing a bad song.” (If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.) Dwarven Vow 58: “It’s often a man’s mouth that breaks his nose.” (The things you say can get you into trouble.) Dwarven Vow 93: “The good speech of a fool is better than the bad word of a prophet.” (Focus on the content of what’s being said, not who’s saying it.)

However, there’s also:

Dwarven Vow 98: “The moon is none the worse for the dogs’ barking at her.” (Don’t be bothered by what others say about you.) Dwarven Vow 135: “The eyes speak as much as the mouth.” (self-explanatory)

THAT BEING SAID, we see so little of the Dwarves that a lot of their characterization is how you extrapolate those few details. I have a very specific characterization of Dirk in my headcanons, but I could see others take his character a different way too. (Imagine new dad Dirk accidentally cursing in front of tiny Lloyd and then realizing that he should not be doing that once he hears this little toddler saying some of most awful Dwarven swears...)
