no but when mhok told day to think of his plate as a clock and told him where on the clock the food was that really reminded me of one of my favorite movies from when i was in middle school which is also about blind people and where the title of the movie itself is a reference to thinking of the plate as a clock: it's called "erbsen auf halb 6" which literally translates to "peas at half past 5" (yes, "halb 6" means "half past 5", yes the numbers are different, don't worry about it)
the plot of the movie is a theater director losing his eyesight in a car accident and him being a director who kinda needs to see what's going on on stage he really doesn't take his sudden loss of vision very well. he gets assigned a helper/mentor, a lady who is blind herself and who's been blind since birth and is supposed to help him adapt to a life with disability. he ultimately runs away from her when he learns that his mother is sick to go find his mother in russia and say goodbye before she dies. his helper/mentor chases after him and they end up on a travel adventure together
it's been over a decade since i last saw the movie but i think at some point they eat and they talk about how the peas sit on the plate where it would be half past 5 on a clock?? anyway, that moment with mhok and day at the restaurant where mhok tells him the position of day's food with the help of an analog clock really reminded me of that movie
edit: i went to look for the trailer of that movie and i found the scene in question!! turns out they're at a restaurant and the helper/mentor character goes "if you imagine the plate as a clock... what numbers is the food lying on?" and the waitress is all confused going "i'm sorry?"
there are no eng subs for the trailer buuut the moment is at the very end at 2:11:
see it's a real movie i didn't just make it up kjdfkjdfk

re: my post awhile back about befriending servers went out to get dinner with a friend at the german restaurant bc it’s finally getting nicer outside & they opened their side patio and charmed the server so much that she gave us free shots at the end of dinner in little boot shaped shot glasses and asked us our names & said she would be happy to see us around more often. but before that i asked her for her recc from the dessert aperitifs list & she told me i should try this zirbenz stone pine liqueur (pictured) and i was like “yes please bring me the tree” and it was extremely astringent and piney but definitely worth the try. anyway there’s nothing better than peddling my little jokes into making a server laugh especially if it gets me free stuff at the end (never my goal but always welcome)

This does bring forth a question about the worth of remaining connected to the mother country or land of origin, as we understand it.
Does it matter to care about the country (as a nation) your ancestors came from when you have no stake in the game? And really, does a specific chunk of land and the governing forces on that land really matter, considering throughout history borders have shifted, governments have changed, people have migrated?
Do you believe you can uphold the legacy and culture of your ancestors regardless of the piece of land on which you stand?

so like. lately I've been feeling like there's some kind of Thing living in this house with me, like a spirit or creature or something, and i feel like it's been here a long time bc of how long things have been going missing in this house with no explanation. and i noticed when i got really badly sick i lost something and it made me like. sob uncontrollably bc it was important. and then i started Finding things in odd places. so i started thanking the mysterious entity. and now I'm finding More Stuff more often. and like i feel strange for believing in this entity bc I've always been told believing in pagan things is childish (??????) and feel awkward thanking it but also i Want To bc it's polite. anyway i wanna like. leave a little offering or something but don't know what would be appropriate bc i also dont know what entity this is

1, 3, and 8 for the fun things to be asked
001. what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?
rather than just link you to my other answer, i will provide more (non-trauamtic) defining facets of my life: 1) my parents being almost 40 by the time they had me (38 and 39 respectively); 2) not getting my drivers license until i was 23 (follow this experience through the tag #kat learns to drive); and 3) my school in germany only having a mixed gender soccer team when i moved there in 4th grade
003. 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?
i feel like this is more difficult to just limit myself to 3. here's 3 random ones off the top of my head: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, apollo 13, and the cutting edge.
008. any reacquiring dreams?
unfortunately i don't, so i WILL be linking to my original answer here :)
ask fun questions!

Dein letztes Geleit führst du selbst an.
Du hast dich entschieden
Und wirst kriegen
Was dein Kopf dir befiehlt das richtig wäre.
Es ist dir keine Lehre.
Du trinkst Gift wie süßen Wein
Doch dein Durst wird nie gestillt sein.
Armes Kind, wer soll dich jetzt noch retten?
Das Schloss für deine Ketten
Wiegt schwerer noch als selbst dein Herz.
Du kannst nicht mit noch ohne Schmerz.
Shhhh, do you hear that? Do you hear the murmur?
It's getting dark around you.
Your head is spinning with thoughts.
They make you waver.
Stories entwined with dramas
Never told and yet known.
Oh, you listen spellbound.
The fear of others does you no good
But it feeds the embers that kindle the fire
Which laughs at you.
Inviting and warm.
It takes you in its arms.
And burns you with its tenderness.
You lead your last escort yourself.
You have made your decision
And will get what your head tells you is right.
It is no lesson to you.
You drink poison like sweet wine.
But your thirst will never be quenched.
Poor child, who will save you now?
The lock for your chains weighs more than even your heart.
You cannot live with or without pain.
