As a kid, when your parents are poor, you're poor. If they don't have money, that means none of you have money. But if someone's parents are rich, that doesn't necessarily mean the kid is. Sometimes rich peoples' kids aren't rich kids, they're just some rich freak's exotic pets that can talk but aren't allowed to.

bbc atlantis was fucking wild actually. like merlin just ended so they needed another show to fill the family fantasy niche. except this time it was about this guy named jason who gets isekai'd into ancient greece where all the myths are real, actually. and he befriends hercules who is a washed up drunk in his fifties, and pythagoras who is there also for some reason and is gay and a twink. it was like once upon a time for greek mythology except the real life guy of pythagoras is there as well

I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

So I've been learning French for a while and 'faire' is actually an incredible word. Like what a fucking breakthrough in economy of language.

Faire is a verb that is usually translated into English as "to do/to make," but it covers way more actions than that, which is very confusing for new speakers. because (I have realized) that's not really what faire means.

Faire is actually a word that just gestures vaguely in the direction of the object of the sentence and goes "you know." "Je fais du velo." "Je fais du courses." "Je fais mes valises." I'm biking. I go grocery shopping. I'm packing my bags. You're just sort of pointing at a bike and going "you know, the obvious thing you'd do with it."

English: "You mean RIDE it??"

French: "Sure whatever."

Like idk I just really enjoy the concept of a catch-all verb that you can just slap onto almost anything because who fucking gives a shit, you get the idea. There's a bike. what do you think I'm going to do with it.

#the irish equivalent I feel is ‘caith’ #usually translated as ‘to spend/wear/throw/smoke’ it’s a great verb altogether #(equivalent as in ‘verb that does a lot’ not necessarily ‘means the same as fairs’ #that would be déan (to do) #caint

I suspect that it may be a common Asexual experience but when I imagine something as "sexy", I imagine something that makes your heart beat fast, that gives you goosebumps, that captures all your focus and puts a hitch in your breath and an odd tingle on the back of your neck, that is exciting and enjoyable to think about.

By extension, things that I believe are "sexy" include:

Office supply outlets

Hardware stores

Antique sewing machines in working order

Really good gel pens

People in eyeliner

Baroque art

Textile warehouses

Administrative filing systems
