Imagine being the one that gets to experience P becoming human first hand.

You’re always touching his face, his hands, they also felt cold, like porcelain. Not that it ever bothered you, of course. One day his skin doesn’t feel as cold as it once did, you can feel the slight warmth under your fingertips, a symbol of things to come.

He was always stiff with his movements, clunky and awkward, but always trying. Always charming. As the days pass you notice how much more fluid he’s becoming, more graceful. More expressive. There’s more emotion to him than you’ve ever seen on him before.

Vocalizing wasn’t something he did often, if you didn’t know better you’d say he didn’t have a voice at all. Aside from the ocassional hum in response to a question not much came out of him, until he said your name. It would catch you so off guard you’d fumble whatever you were doing and he’d look apologetic before you frantically reassured him you were just caught off guard, but definitely not in a bad way.

You’ve been known to fall asleep on him, he’s your safe space after all, he makes you feel like comfortable. You’re used to the sound of gears clicking, springs tightening, metal snapping. It’s become a sort of lullaby to you. One day you’re leaning into his back as he’s busy with something else and you hear it, a new sound thrumming from inside his chest. It’s sounds like a faint hum, you swear you hear something pulse, a whisper of a sound that no matter how much you strain you can’t make it out, but it sounds familiar.

It all comes to a head one day, you noticed how much warmer his skin has gotten, he’s practically a walking heater at this point and it’s perfect for those particularly cold and rainy days that are common in Krat. He wears his emotions on his sleeve now, at this point you need only glance in his direction to know how he’s feeling. From the smallest details such as the twitch of lips or tilt of the head, to the bigger ones, every frown, smile or lingering gaze. His soft and sweet voice is something you could listen to for hours, he may not talk as much in front of others, but you? If you asked he’d read for you, sing to you, recite to you, he’s become somebody you could stay up all night talking to.

Finally, one night you’re struggling to fall asleep, luckily P is there for you and he’s ready to lull you to sleep. You snuggle up close to him, you tangle your legs together, throw your arm across his torso and gently rest your head on his chest. He’s soft and warm and feels like home. You feel him slowly drag his fingers through your hair, carefully combing through any knots he may come across. It isn’t long before you begin to drift off and under the ticking and clicking you hear that new sound much better than ever before.

The last thing you hear is the gentle, but strong beating of his heart before sleep finally claims you.
