I just think this is the funnier chunk. #Lan Wangji absolutely is the kind of person who has a perfect internal alarm clock for when it is time to get up. #He already has a dedicated sleep schedule. He is accurate within 10 seconds of 5am every day. #I think the Jiang disciples are most likely used to waking up around 6:00-7:00am #But the allure of having a guaranteed time keeper getting you up in the morning is worth the earlier hour. #I imagine they started outside lwj's door and slowly moved closer as the weeks went on. #Now LWJ has to cope with being way too warm in the night from all the extra body heat. #LWJ is not a fan of this but they scamper off immediately after he wakes up and they at least show initiative to follow routine. #NHS joins in only because he is a chronically heavy sleeper and needs this level of intervention to get up early. #His boldness would be a death sentence in the cloud recesses but here? Whole new game. #Yungmeng Jiang isn't a lawless land. It's just a land with different laws. #And one of those laws is to forcefully domesticate the catboy coded Lan boy through any means necessary. #Completely different tangent: I drew the thumbnail for this before I did comic 134. I then realized they had the same visual gag. #So I had to space this one out so it didn't seem like I repeated the waking up joke. That's my secret and all of you have to keep it. #And in my land the law is that snitches get itches (telepathically transfers hives onto your body)

I always love when fic writers decide to make Baxia a pet in modern AUs but 99% of the time she's either a dog or a cat and I think there's unutilized potential there. Since Baxia is literally named after a creature described as a giant dragon with a turtle shell, one of the sons of the dragon king, there should be more AUs where she's is a big turtle or tortoise.

Also I think Nie Mingjue would fucking love to have a pet turtle, so someone should give him one.

plot bunny Modern AU where jin ling invites the juniors home and they’re all scared to meet his terrifying uncle. Surprisingly, said uncle also has people over

“impossible, jiujiu doesn’t have friends”

turns out it’s nhs, jiujiu’s old friend from school, and wwx, (one of) jin ling’s estranged uncle(s). And basically they both see how nervous the other juniors are and are just like “??? It’s just Jiang cheng??” So to lighten the mood they start to tell increasingly ridiculous and embarrassing (and true) stories about what they and Jiang cheng used to get up to in school. Story by story Jiang cheng’s scary image starts to crack and eventually just falls of completely when he starts to retaliate by telling of how embarrassing wwx and lwj used to be about each other and how “obvious” it was that they both liked each other and still do. At this point wwx has an epiphany and panics to find some portable speakers so that he can go recreate the Say Anything boombox scene with wuji.mp3. Ozz and jingyi get really into the “go to him”-mood.

more stories are told and somehow it ends with sangcheng, lingyi, and wangxian happening + they’re now Officially Jiujiu Approved friends and everyone’s happy. The juniors are welcome over anytime they like and everyone’s gained new friends by the end of the evening

the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.

cases include:

Turnabout Revenge (Mo Manor, quick introductory first case)

Turnabout Goddess (Dafan mountain, the good times flashback)

Turnabout Saber (the man-eating castle (omg hiii nhs))

Turnabout Deviation (the Koi Tower conference, Empathy on NMJ ala turnabout memories or beginnings. opening cutscene is his qi deviation)

the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao

there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.

the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.

for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.

it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.

I've become slightly obsessed with your concept of a cumplane child NHS. Just image him sitting there like "ok, so I'm not the protagonist so I can't be too powerful. WWX is clearly gay but LWJ will murder me before I can cultivate a relationship ship so no hope of plot armour there. I can't be too sweet though - then I'll get murdered to show the transition from childhood innocence to war - you know. I could just be comic relief. Comic relief almost never dies."
