You eventually decided to forget your body for now and leave it to Norm to take care of it. All you were focusing on was burying yourself further into work.
Which included going back to tending to your garden by planting and replanting a few seeds and veggies. Then there was checking up on the baby who was bound to be due soon, you’d spend the last few hours of the day with her until eventually, you forced yourself to sleep in the Avatar Compound.
That was your schedule throughout the next couple of days. Along with that, you took on more work to distract yourself such as restocking more link shacks and taking care of the land along with the other avatars. It was one of the many deals the humans made with the People in exchange for letting them stay instead of going into exile. It kept you busy whenever you didn’t need to tend to your garden. Any free time that you happened to have would’ve been filled up with something else to keep you busy.
The only peace you got was at the end of the day when you were in the tank room.
“I’m sorry I’ve been gone, little one.” You said to her the first night you returned to Hell’s Gate. “I was unfortunately a bit distracted. But now I’m here and I’m never leaving you that long again. That is, until you’re born of course.”
There was a subtle shift in the stomach, bringing you a slight sense of comfort that she still remembered your voice. You didn’t know why it was comforting though. You wouldn’t be the one to hold her in the end. You probably wouldn’t be able to see her much once she was with her rightful parents…
Stop—stop.
Then there was foraging.
You enjoyed wandering around the forest to both discover new things and become well acquainted with the familiar routes. Going to your mother’s grave, finding the shack you had been trapped in, and even venturing further out just to see what was out there. Things you’ve missed.
It would’ve been nice if there was some comfort to all of it. But it made you forget. Made you think less. That was enough for now.
Until you eventually had to return to the clan’s base for Mo’at’s checkups. And not wanting to anger the Tsahik, you went anyway despite your reservations about it. All you could do was pray you didn’t run into Jake during the short visit.
So when you saw Tsu’tey with his brother inside her hut, you were strangely relieved which quickly made your stomach churn at the very thought.
His brother, Arvok, noticed you first as Mo’at was working on his abdomen. Surprisingly, he offered a white yet tired smile your way, “Ah, my savior the dreamwalker! I thought I was dreaming before.”
He ended up sitting up a bit as he spoke but Mo’at forced him to lie back down, “Hold still.”
“No need to thank me. It was nothing.” You mumbled, face impenetrably impassive.
“Nothing?! I heard you died because you saved me. How is that nothing?” Arvok sat up a little again only for his head to be forced back down by an irritated Tsahik.
You tried not to acknowledge the younger male’s words. Tsu’tey watched you for a beat before nudging Arvok’s shoulder gently, “Mawey, tsmukan.”
Not bothering to try and understand what he had said, you muttered again, this time sternly, “As I said, it was nothing—frankly, you should be more worried about yourself and the person who stabbed you.” Finding the new topic, you quickly steered the conversation in that direction. “By the way, who injured you in the first place—”
“That is none of your concern,” Tsu’tey said simply with his face somewhat screwed into his usual scowl.
You nodded expectantly, “Yeah, I thought so.”
Arvok then nudged his arm, hissing at him in  Na’vi. Tsu’tey didn’t appear happy but spoke again, “It is clan business. Something that you should not concern yourself with. You have been too involved enough as it is.”
“Ha!” Mo’at huffed earning a glare from the Olo’eyktan. She did not offer more and continued tending to Arvok.
“Well,” You frowned, clenching and unclenching your hands. By then you realized you were still standing while the other three were much closer to the ground. “I did get poisoned by this clan business but you’re right. I suppose it is none of my concern.”
At this, Mo’at finally stood and scowled at the two of you—more specifically Tsu’tey, “If this is how your interactions will be during this time, then I must ask you to leave and come back when you are ready to speak with her correctly.” She gestured for Arvok to sit up—albeit slowly—and dismissed him, “You must continue resting. It will be a long while before you can hunt again.”
“Yes, Tsahik.” With a grumble, Arvok slowly pushed to his feet, the wince clear on his youthful features. But he looked better. Better than you had expected someone to have been stabbed to look. Then again, Mo’at must’ve been working on him while you had been unconscious—dead—so he had time to get better.
He held his abdomen gingerly as he walked past you, sending you a quick nod before he finally left. “You!” At that, your attention turned back to Mo’at who was now pointing at the spot Arvok had been, “Sit. Now.”
Obediently you sunk to the floor and allowed Mo’at to start her work on you. Tsu’tey surprisingly didn’t leave and just lingered in the background much to your dismay. But your body wasn’t tense because of his presence. You were constantly glaring at the doorway, waiting for him to show up at that point, waiting with your guard up, waiting for yet another fight with that damned asshole.
“You shouldn’t be putting so much strain on this arm. You should be resting as well, let yourself get adjusted to your new body.” Mo’at instructed sternly as she applied new green mush to your arm.
You winced, both at the subtle sting in your arm and the easy way she mentioned your transference. As if it was another day. You couldn’t tell whether that pissed you off or made you quite relieved that at least someone was making a huge deal out of it. You’d already cried everything out of your system. Now you just wanted to allow yourself to feel numb.
Just until everything came back up again. If it ever would.
In the corner of your eye, Tsu’tey shifted onto the mat further behind you.
Mo’at pressed her hand against your arm, “Have you buried your former body yet?”
You chewed on the inside of your cheek, “Why are you asking me that now?”
“Some questions will be hard to answer. It is the way of life.” She replied easily as she began unwrapping the bandage on your shoulder. “But it is okay to not be ready. Are you not read, dreamwalker?”
“Sure.” It was all you offered.
You left the body to Norm now. You made him swear not to tell you where he planned on putting it. And you were okay with that.
You were fine—you were fine—you were fine—
Eventually, after enduring a long silence—which you were quite comfortable with—Mo’at finished and stood. You moved to get up as well but she pressed her hand down on your shoulder and shook her head, “You speak with Olo’eyktan first. Then you leave.”
With that, she stepped out of the hut and you, after great reluctance, looked over your shoulder at Tsu’tey to find him slightly sitting hunched over on the ground, playing with something in his fingers.
You weren’t going to speak first. He wanted to speak with you. You would wait for him.
And eventually he did, “When Mo’at brought up the potential—that you could be our fourth mate—what did you think?”
The question startled you. It was the last thing you ever thought he’d ask. And the fact that it was Tsu’tey himself asking you this and not Neytiri or hell, even Jake.
But you remained on guard anyway, “Do you care?”
At that, he raised his gaze from whatever was in his hands to look at you, “Many people have made their opinions known about the matter. All but you. It’s as if your voice is drowned out by an unforgiving storm. I am asking you, dreamwalker. What do you think of it?”
For a moment you considered your words carefully. The conversation wasn’t adversary so you lowered your defense, only by a little bit. And as you thought about your answer, you realized you hadn’t even had the chance to think about what you truly thought about the idea of being their fourth mate. Neytiri had mentioned them looking for one long ago but you never imagined it would be you. You never imagined—
You never imagined you’d be loved.
And because of that, it was simply never in the cards for you. Even if there were moments where you—
“Why doesn’t it matter anyway?” You glared down at your fingers, watching as your nails dug into your palms. “Can you honestly imagine us as mates? I mean have you thought about it yourself? Can you even imagine Jake and I as mates? After the other night? Tsu’tey, I think the answer’s pretty clear.” You faced him, jaw tight and your voice quiet despite your steeled spine, “I’m too broken. And it would be cruel—I am not cruel and I’m not selfish enough to allow you three to drag yourselves to the bottom because of me. And that’s what I think. It’s quite simple actually—”
“To your human mind, yes.” Tsu’tey shook his head and stood, turning his back to you. He paced for a moment, eyes searching the room until he finally spoke. “But it is about duty. If Eywa has favored you then I must do my job as Olo’eyktan and honor that. If you are our fourth—”
“You don’t know that.”
“You are right, I do not!” He hissed but stopped, almost as if he were restraining himself.
You clenched your hands together again, glaring down at the matted floor. For a moment, the two of you were silent. This had to be the longest conversation you and Tsu’tey had ever had. And of course, it was about something heavy, something complicated, something difficult to even comprehend. Why couldn’t it have been something simple? Why couldn’t things be simple?
“I have failed my people.”
A beat went by and you looked up, wondering if that was all he had to say only to find his gaze on you. Intense and yellow. Unreadable yet uncomfortable to receive, nonetheless.
But his face was gentle as he spoke. His voice was quieter, “And in some ways, I feel I have failed our Great Mother. I feel I have failed my mates. My son. My unborn children. My mother. My brother. My father. Perhaps you do not understand it, dreamwalker, but it is my sworn duty to do what I must for my clan. To be the leader that they deserve. And I am not.” He stepped forward until he was standing in front of you and dropped something into your hands.
It was pretty. A handwoven string of beads and gems, almost too gorgeous to belong to someone like you. You held it limply in your hands, not wanting to touch it any further.
“I am not a good mate.” He continued, now his face unreadable. You weren’t really sure what yours looked like at the moment but you hoped it didn’t convey what you felt at the moment as he spoke.
Utter dread. Shock. And pity.
“If I had proposed to you, I would have thought that I had done right by the Great Mother.”
He said it so simply. Proposed? Tsu’tey? To you? How come he didn’t appear affected when he said these words? Why was it you that was struck frozen by this revelation?
Perhaps he was good at hiding it. Perhaps you were too.
Tsu’tey knelt in front of you and looked down at the string, his face still a mask. “I would take care of you, just as I do with my other mates. I would treat your children as my own, I would be okay with not being in love with you for the sake of duty.” Unconsciously, your fingers wrapped around the string as you took in his words. Very deliberate, very careful, very real. “But you would have said no. And I would be okay with that too. Because I cannot commit to my duty. Because I am a bad Olo’eyktan. And…” The words seemed difficult to spill out from his mouth but he forced it out anyway. “And I am not cruel enough either, dreamwalker.”
For a moment, you did not say a thing. For a moment, you wondered if you were dreaming. For a moment, you wondered if there could be a world where you and Tsu’tey weren’t hostile to each other like now. You wondered if there could be a world where you’d look at him as something more.
Because in the end, you appreciated his honesty. Frankly, that was one of the best things you liked about the Na’vi. They weren’t like humans. They didn’t hold anything back because they didn’t see a reason to.
And it made your next words clear and firm, “Your search for worthiness isn’t on me, Tsu’tey. And a proposal definitely wouldn’t have been able to fix that.” You frowned and glanced down at the string and then back at him, “That wasn’t a proposal, right?”
Tsu’tey stood then, his tail swishing behind him. “I suppose it was. In a way.” He looked at you expectantly, “And your answer, dreamwalker?”
He held a look that told you he already knew your answer. You stood as well and handed him back the beaded string with yet another impassive mask, “No. That is my answer. But you knew that.”
Wordlessly, he took the beads back, his gaze never leaving it. You stood there for a moment, feeling exhausted once more. And again, Tsu’tey allowed himself to appear the same.
Too tired for this world. Too tired to carry on.
You steeled yourself away and stood straighter, “So you agree. This isn’t what Eywa wanted.”
At that, his ears twitched, “We do not know what she wants. It has always been that way. And it will remain so.”
Nodding, you moved past him and toward the entrance, only to stop short. Your brain was muddled, your emotions were tangled, and yet you spoke clearly. “If your deity is as great as you all say she is, then I’m sure she wouldn’t want you to suffer.”
Without waiting for a response, you left. Not daring to look back. Not daring to ponder questions you’ve never thought about until now.
Enough. Enough of all of it.

“Any day now.” You mumbled, staring bleakly down at the table as Norm was checking the ultrasound. It was weird being several inches taller than him now when in human form he had quite the height over you, “We just have to watch her closely now.”
Norm nodded, “Good, good. That’s great news. I’ll let the parents know. You good staying here for a bit?”
“Always.” You watched over the tank as Norm left the room. Tucking the tablet under your arm, you placed your hand against the class, “Can’t wait to meet you, finally. I wonder if you’re gonna be as quiet when you’re born.”
The silence was suffocating, and So were the tears. They had finally come.
God, you were so angry.
Was this really all you were worth? An obligation? Something so worthless that you needed empty protection? Was that all they saw in you? Was that all you’ll ever be to them?
You sank into a nearby chair, allowing the silent tears to fall.
It wasn’t what you wanted. You didn’t want to be the outsider—the intruder. All you wanted was to save a bunch of trees and now you’re here. A stain. An inconvenience. Blood red on a perfect white canvas.
This baby girl didn’t deserve someone as shattered as you. She deserved the loving parents that claimed her from the beginning. Protected and kept away from your storm.
“I hope this world doesn’t hurt you, little one.” You wiped at your eyes, beaten and bruised already.
Norm eventually came back moments later. You hadn’t gotten up from the chair. He saw your dried tears and cleared his throat, “Jake said he’s already on his way, um,” He appeared careful and gentle as he spoke, “I’ll take over if you need a break.”
“You don’t have to.” Was your attempt at a protest.
But he shook his head adamantly, “No, I will. You’ve—it’s been pretty rough for you. It’s the least I can do for…”
You frowned as he avoided your gaze.
“I could’ve done better—more to save you—”
“Spellman, you're fine,” You shook your head and stood. “I don’t blame you—couldn’t if I wanted to. You’re the only one that has my back here. Well, maybe besides Neytiri.”
“Are you going then?” He asked as you walked passed him.
“Yeah, I’m gonna try to cool off. Maybe go on a walk.”
“You sure? Don’t get another chunk of your skin bitten off again. Or poisoned.”
“Ha-ha.” You responded dryly.
Deciding you wanted fresh air, you left out of Hell’s Gate and went into the forest.
You had marked the places you passed with small white strips in the past, tying them to smaller branches. It allowed you to venture further away from the base this time. And by the time the sun began to set, you found yourself at the waterfall, the same one you were at with Tsu’tey before.
And you stayed there. This time you went toward the waterfalls’ mist surrounding you the closer you got to the waterfall itself. The water moved up toward your waist until you were practically floating above water.
For a while, you stayed like this. Until night came. You stayed like this until your hair stuck to the back of your neck.
Eventually, you passed through the waterfall. Breathing out a long and delicate sigh.
These waters relaxed you. These waters made you forget.
Once you reached the other side of the waterfall, there was a rock large enough for you to hoist yourself on. And sit there. You didn’t know how long you’d stay there and you didn’t care. The world outside of this place didn’t matter to you. For a while, you just wanted to forget. To become stone.
Half alive and half buried in the ground.
That is until the world called for you to come back. Until the world wrapped its grip on you and yanked you back into reality.
Until something whizzed past your face, cutting some of the strands from your unbraided hair.
And now across from you was a spear lodged into the stone. Whoever had thrown it had great strength. Whoever had thrown had meant to kill you.
Instantly, you froze. Heart pounding against your chest, blood rushing to your ears.
“Demon!” AN unfamiliar voice shouted further away—possibly on land away from the waterfall. Quickly, you lowered yourself on the rock. Most of the water from the mountain and mist hid you, so there was a chance that the attacker couldn’t see you. “Come out and I kill you!”
You didn’t move from the rock. From what little you could hear, the voice spoke in Na’vi as if he was giving orders to someone. Which meant this guy wasn’t alone. The many splashes coming toward you only confirmed that.
As quietly as possible, you slid off the rock and toward the spear, yanking it out of the wall with what little strength you had left. A shadow then passed you as you ducked behind the rock just as a figure stepped through the waterfall. He was wearing strange armor and his war paint was different from what you had seen the Omatikaya wear. Which also told you that these warriors that surrounded you were from a different clan. A clan you were sure that weren’t reluctant in having to kill the likes of you for being human.
The warrior had an arrow pointed and ready. Fortunately, he hadn’t seen you yet.
But before you could take your chance at escape, a quicker shadow to the right dived through the falls, aiming another spear at you.
It was so quick, you hadn’t heard the other warrior coming and barely dodged the sharp end of her spear as you slid off the rock and into the deep waters.
The spear didn’t slow and sunk into the water with you. You swam away from the two, going deeper underwater until you weren’t able to be spotted. You continued swimming away from the small enclave and made it to the other side of the waterfalls.
Praying that the mist continued to cover you up, you came up for air and climbed onto a nearby rock. You still had the discarded spear and gripped it in your hands as you hopped onto another rock—not even stopping when you heard a bunch more splashes and shouts in Na’vi coming toward you.
Once you were sure they were far enough away from you, you continued hopping on the rocks until you finally reached land. But you didn’t run, knowing that it would make too much noise. Instead, you clutched the spear to your chest and slinked into the forest, just as how Neytiri had done it when the two of you would travel through the forest together.
Be one with the forest and all that shit.
God, you couldn’t catch one break. First Jake, then Tsu’tey, and now this? It was like the universe hated you for some reason.
As quickly and as quietly as possible, you put some distance between you and the waterfall. When you got far enough, you ducked behind a thick tree, pressing your back against it while taking in shaky breaths. You kept the spear close to your chest as if it were a shield while praying that you had been quiet enough to escape.
Something sharp pressed against the side of your neck, instantly squashing any hope you had left.
“You are loud, demon.” She spoke in Na’vi. It was one of the only sentences you recognized since Neytiri used to say it to you all the time in the beginning.
You remained still, staring at the warrior in the corner of your eye.
She took the spear from your hands and tossed it to the ground, not lowering hers.
“Where is your clan, sawtute?”
Okay, she spoke a little English. Which meant this clan had lived around humans at some point,.
“I don’t have a clan.” You gritted out shakily, “And I’m not trespassing—”
“Demon! All of you!” She hissed, the tip pressing further into your skin. “I kill you and bring your head back to my clan. The rest of you demons will follow!”
You glanced toward the spear on the ground, trying to figure out how fast you’d have to move to get it and escape.
But you nor the warrior didn’t get a chance to do anything as an arrow flew through the trees and hit the warrior in her shoulder.
She stumbled back, you took the chance and grabbed the spear from the ground.
As the warrior fell to her knees, your savior stood further away behind her. Bow raised with another arrow pointed at her.
You breathed out shakily, “It’s you.”

As you sit in front of the cooking fire, stirring the pot of food you’re serving for lunch, you look up and see Neytiri sitting on Jake’s lap as they work on weaving a blanket together. Their laughs echo through the room and you can see them stealing kisses from each other every few minutes which makes you roll your eyes in annoyance. You haven’t always felt this way about your mates, your heart wasn't always filled with hate from how affectionate they are towards each other, but over the years this is what your relationship has gradually become: them being in their own world while you sit on the sidelines feeling alone.
In the beginning of your relationship, you felt love from them, probably Neytiri more than Jake, but nonetheless it was present. When you made the decision to become their mate, you left the comfort of the lab and fully emerged yourself into the Na’vi lifestyle and that included the soul transfer to permanently become one with your Avatar body. You loved being a scientist, but you loved being with your spouses more, so you put that aspect of your life on hold to explore a deeper relationship with them.
You knew they had an established relationship prior to you coming into the picture, and you were fine with that because they were always loving and kind towards you, but now they’re too consumed with each other to show you any sort of affection. When you first started noticing Jake and Neytiri not wanting to wanting to intimate with you, you assumed it was because they were stressed or tired from their duties as Olo’eyktan and Tsakarem, plus having to take care of four entergetic children. However, one day while you were walking in the forest, collecting fruits to prepare as a side dish for lunch, you witnessed Jake and Neytiri having sex in a clearing of grass, his hands gripped tightly around her waist as he thrusted into her from behind as moans of pleasure spilled from Neytiri’s lips.
Watching your mates indulge in acts of sexual pleasure without you made you feel a tinge of pain that was indescribable. Knowing that your partners, the people who were supposed to love you the most, no longer saw you as sexually appetizing and felt the need to sneak around made your stomach turn into knots. Deep down you always felt like you should say something, tell them that you caught them during their private rendezvous, but you decided to keep quiet because you didn’t want a conflict to arise and make your living situation worse than it currently is.
No matter how hard you thought about it and replayed all the memories in your head about different stages of your relationship, you could never figure out when or why their love for you faded. Sometimes you would think about separating from them and moving on with your life, but you tolerated their behavior because of your children, not wanting them to grow up in a broken home.
While grinding a few herbs to season your food with, you hear the sound of small feet running in the marui, making a small creep on your face, already knowing who it could be. “Mama!” Lo’ak shouts in excitement while he runs up to you and wraps his arms around your neck, happy to see you after a long day.
“Hi, baby, how was your day?” You ask as you plant a kiss on his cheek, wanting to hear everything about his day so far. Lo’ak was your biological son, you gave birth to him a year after Neytiri had Neteyam. Lo’ak is your pride and joy, when you gave birth to him you felt like he was your physical heart on display. Knowing that this little boy came from your womb made you want to be the best mother to him, so that’s what you’ve done ever since he took his first breath.
When Lo’ak opens his mouth, ready to give you a spiel about his day, Jake’s voice begins to bounce off the walls of the marui, already deciding to start a sense of chaos. “Lo’ak! Stop talking and go do your chores around the house!”
“But I was-”
“Now, boy! Don’t talk back to me!” Lo’ak’s ear flattens against his head and the light of excitement in his eyes dims. When he was on the way home, he was compiling so many stories together in his head, so many things happened and he couldn’t wait to tell you every second of it, so when his father denies him the chance, it makes him deeply upset.
You don’t like seeing Lo’ak like this, a downcast expression and sad eyes, so you decide to pull him closer to you so you could tell him something that you know for sure would lift his spirits. “Don’t be sad, ‘itan. When you finish, me and you will go out and I’ll take you to your favorite pond to play in.” You could tell he’s back in his happy boyish mood when his frown turns into a smile and his head pops up from him staring at the ground. “Okay!” He replies in the quietest tone possible before running off to his chores so you both can go on your adventure.
When you watch him disappear to another part of the marui, Kiri and Neteyam greet you with a hug and a few kisses, telling you how much they missed you and how they were ready to come home. Once they finish talking to you they start playing in the center of the room which makes your eyebrow raise in a confused manner, wondering why their father hasn’t sent them to complete their current duties around the house like their younger brother. “Jake, why aren’t they doing anything?”
“‘Cause they don’t need to, they’re fine.” His harsh tone doesn’t phase you, he’s used it one too many times before, so you're used to it by now. Jake has always treated Lo’ak differently than the rest of the children, no matter how much Lo’ak tried to get his father to interact with him, he would always decline. He showed his other children more love and affection, taking them out to play and carving them wooden toys, but for Lo’ak, he didn’t do any of those things and sometimes not even your other mate. It never made sense to you why he or Neytiri treat Lo’ak that way, he’s such a sweet and innocent boy and he doesn’t deserve that type of treatment. Since they’re emotionally negligent, you always make it your mission to pour love and affection into Lo’ak’s life to fill in the areas they lack.
Instead of telling Jake how you feel about his way of handling things, you just sit back and bite your tongue, not wanting to start an argument with the kids in the room. All you could do is shake your head at his cold demeanor and how Neytiri is just sitting there like what just happened is okay. When Jake turns his attention from you and looks back toward Neytiri, you can see his facial expression soften; he looks more calm with Neytiri, he acts as if she’s his only mate, the only love of his life and that’s what makes you want to scream and cry at the same time. Just seeing them interact with each other makes you wonder how the hell your once loving relationship turned into this.
Jake and Neytiri took the older kids into the village so they could go to their young warrior training to learn and practice the basics about Na’vi life. Therefore, you’re currently home taking care of Tuk, watching her walk around the marui while babbling in her baby language that only she can understand. The sun starts to set and you see Tuk starting to get sleepy, little yawns coming from her mouth as her tiny hands rub her eyes. “Is my little one tired?” You ask as you scoop her up off the floor and cradle her in your arms. She responds to your question with a cute nod, looking up at you with her big golden eyes making your heart melt. You lay her gently down in her wooden crib before pulling her woven blanket over her and kissing her goodnight.
When you close the privacy curtain to the makeshift doorway, you see your family walking inside. Your eyes focus on how Jake has his hand wrapped around the back of Lo’ak’s neck, making you wonder what’s going on between them. When Jake roughly lets go of him, Lo’ak runs to you with tears in his eyes, making your protective instincts arise. “What’s wrong, ‘itan?” You bend down to his eyes level, wanting to figure out what was the cause of his tears. When you see a few drops of clear liquid trickle down his face, you take your thumb and wipe under his eyes. “Talk to me, yawntutsyìp. Tell me what’s bothering you.”
“Me and Ne-Neteyam were taking turns shooting the bow he made and when it was m-my turn, I broke it. It was an accident, but dad got mad and yelled at me.” As he tells you what happened, he sniffles in between every few words, his chest rises from trying to stifle his tears, and by looking at how his tail is tightly curled behind his body, you could tell what happened between him and his father frightened him.
You immediately pull him into your embrace, wrapping your arms around his body so you could soothe him, wanting to make him feel safe and comfortable. “Mawey, it’s okay, Lo’ak. I know you didn’t mean to break it and your father does too, he just… gets angry sometimes.” You rub his back, letting his head rest on your shoulder so he could relax. While continuing to calm Lo’ak down, you see Jake sitting at the wooden table working on something that’s related to his duties. Clearly he could see how upset Lo’ak was and he just sat there as if nothing was happening.
Watching Lo’ak come to you with tears in his eyes and viewing Jake treat Lo’ak roughly made an anger that’s been building up for years beg to be released. You’ve been wanting to give Jake a piece of your mind for a long time and tonight you’re finally pissed enough to make your feelings known. “Go in your room and wait for me. I’ll come in a little bit okay?” Lo’ak nods his head in response and before he turns to walk away, you kiss his forehead and let him know that you love him.
Seeing you send Lo’ak to bed made Neytiri follow suit, deciding to walk Neteyam and Kiri into their sleeping area, giving you the perfect opportunity to talk to your so called husband. “Jake, I need to talk to you.”
The man wasn’t in any mood to converse, especially when he’s in the middle of creating new trade strategies, so when he hears your statement he grumbles under his breath before deciding to respond, barely giving you a sliver of his attention. “What?”
“I’ve tried to stick this marriage out for as long as I can, but I can’t do it anymore. I want out of this, Jake.”
When the sentence falls into the air, Jake’s face scrunches up and his eyebrows raise. He doesn’t like a thing you just said, so when it finally registers in his mind, he abruptly stops what he was doing and walks over to you. “Leave? You’re not leaving this marriage, we are mated for life!” He growls, towering over your frame that was smaller compared to his. He wasn’t going to let you leave because if you left, the clan would look at him as insufficient, not being good enough to keep his mate and he wasn’t going to let you ruin his reputation.
“Why not? You and Neytiri don’t even show me any attention anymore, you both act as if I mean nothing! You do everything together and nothing with me and I’m not going to stay in a dead marriage!” You shout at him, causing Neytiri to come out and see what was going on. “And I don’t appreciate how you treat Lo’ak, I’m not going to keep letting you be mean and rude towards our child!”
“Mean?” He scoffs as if you offended him by your remark, his tail begins to thrash behind him as he bares his teeth. “You’re lucky I even got you pregnant! If I wasn’t drunk that night you wouldn’t even have him!” At this particular time in your marriage Jake had recently started falling out of love with you, the only way he could stomach having sex with you —when it was happening— was drinking a few cups of fermented fruit beforehand and on the night of conception there was a clan celebration so he indulged in hefty amounts of alcohol. “I didn’t even want a child with you, I just fucked up one night.” Jake doesn’t have any empathy for how his actions affected you, past or present. His face holds zero emotion and in his twisted mind, he doesn’t see anything wrong with his actions.
When his confession resonates, it finally clicks. The reason he treats Lo’ak like shit is because he didn’t even want him. Knowing that the man you loved didn’t want to create a child with you like you always thought he did makes your chest tighten with feelings of anger. Not only does that piss you off, but the fact that he happily gave Neytiri two children makes your head spin. “You bastard, I can’t fuckin’ believe you!” The volume of your voice raises as you place your hand on Jake’s chest, shoving him to try and release some of the raging aggression that was coursing through your body.
Before you can speak another word or angrily put your hands on Jake again, Neytiri stands in front of you, putting space between you and Jake. “Don’t touch him!” She hisses, now placing her hands on your chest, giving you a subtle threat. You’re taken aback at Neytiri being fierce toward you, not understanding why she’s upset with you and not with Jake. By her not reacting, it only means one thing: she knew about what he had done.
“Did you know Jake felt that way? Were both of you in fuckin’ cahoots or something?!” You hiss back at her and show your fangs, giving her the same energy she’s emitting. You can’t believe she would do something like this, you could see Jake doing something like this, but Neytiri being a co-conspirator makes everything hurt ten times worse.
While you’re spewing insults at Neytiri, Jake’s blood starts boiling. He has already been fed up with you, but now since you are going at Neytiri, he decides that he’s finally sick of you and your ‘dramatics’ as he calls them. He places himself in front of you and grabs your chin, pressing his fingers into your skin, tilting your head upward so you could look him in the eye. “I’m gonna say this one time and it’ll be my last. You are not leaving this marriage, you will stay in this house, and take care of your son.” His callous fingers are digging into your skin, making your skin crawl with fear, worried about what he might do next.
“And don’t you ever talk back to me, I’m your Olo’eyktan and you will show me some damn respect!” He speaks through gritted teeth, and his eyes fill with a mix of disgust and aggression. The more he talks, the more he squeezes your face, making your lips pucker out. “You got that?” You nod your head as much as you could, not wanting to be defiant because you’re scared he might hit you like he’s done in the past. When Jake lets his anger get the best of him or he comes home from drinking with the warriors, he would take his frustrations out on you, always leaving you with a bruise or two and sometimes worse depending on his mood.
When he’s satisfied with your response he roughly releases you, pushing you against the wall of the marui. He doesn’t say another word, he just walks to another part of the marui with Neytiri trailing behind him. When they walk out of your line of sight, you release a breath you didn’t know you were holding, followed by silent sobs. You don’t know how you got into this situation, trapped in a loveless relationship and feeling confined in the walls of your own home, but you were going to get yourself out of it by any means necessary.
As your warm tears continue to flow, creating liquid stains on your bra top, you hear the sound of a privacy curtain open. “Mama, Are you okay?” When Lo’ak’s voice rings through your ears, you hurriedly wipe your tears and force a happy expression on your face, not wanting him to see you in a saddened and distraught state.
You look up and see him peeking his head out the makeshift doorway which makes you chuckle at how cute he looks. “Yes, I’m fine, ‘itan. Come here.” You beckon and he comes walking toward you and sits on your lap. “How about I let you stay up a little longer tonight and I take you to play in the pond like I promised?” You ask while lightly poking his stomach, making Lo’ak erupt with giggles.
“Yayyy!” He stands up excitedly, grabbing your hand and pulling your arm so you can stand up. You stand up and you begin to walk with him to the nearby pond that’s a few feet away from the marui. Once you get close enough, Lo’ak unravels his hand from yours and runs into the pond at full speed, splashing around in the water as his eyes filled with amazement as the bioluminescent fish swim around his feet. Seeing the smile etched on his face helps you make one of the toughest decisions you’ve ever made. You know it will be difficult, but it needs to be done, before matters escalate into something you can’t control.
After that night with Jake, you started being more submissive than usual, doing anything and everything Neytiri and Jake ask while you waited for the argument to blow over. It took lots of self control and restraint to bite your tongue and not say anything to them but you kept your eyes on the prize.
It’s now a few weeks later and they’ve completely forgotten about the whole argument, which means it’s the perfect time for you to take Lo’ak and leave the forest. You’re sitting in the center of the marui, finishing up a newly woven blanket for Tuk while allowing the paste to dry on the handcrafted necklaces you made for Neteyam, Kiri, and Spider. When you finish the last stitch you hold up the blanket, admiring how nice the pattern came out. While looking at the blanket your eyes wander to the child sized jewelry on the floor next to you, making a saddened sigh leave your lips at the thought of these physical items will be how each of them will remember you. These pieces you made are special, the last gift the four of them will receive from you before you leave. You want to say goodbye to them in person, but you know that if you see their sad faces and tear filled eyes, you won’t be able to leave. All of them see you as their mother and you treat them as if they’re your biological children because that’s how much they mean to you.
You gather the gifts and place them on the wooden table along with two letters, one for the kids and one for Jake and Neytiri. The letter for the children contains heartfelt messages, telling them how much you love them and how you know that one day Eywa will guide them to wherever you decide to make you and Lo’ak’s new home. The letter to your now ex-mates is the complete opposite. You tell them how you’re tired of being treated like you hold no value, like the scum of the planet. All the built up emotions you felt over the years: invalidated, ignored, forgotten, and every negative emotion they made you feel you poured into your writing, wanting them to know how much pain and suffering they’ve caused you. You ended the letter with telling them that they can now have a happy live together with just the two of them because you’re done with them.
Looking at each object on the table makes everything feel more real, you were finally breaking yourself free from the restraints of Jake and Neytiri. You’re scared you might not be making the right decision, scared that everything wouldn’t be greener on the other side if you leave. You don’t know where Lo’ak and you are going to live yet, but you’re planning on flying in whatever direction the wind takes you.
As you notice the sun hiding behind the horizon you start packing essentials for the journey along with different keepsakes to remind you of your time with the Omatikaya. You pack quickly, wanting to leave before Jake and Neytiri come back home with Neteyam, Kiri, and Tuk. “Lo’ come on! We have to go!” You explained to Lo’ak yesterday that you both are going to leave and at first, he was sad, he didn’t want to leave his siblings, grandmother, or Spider, but when you explained that it would be better for you both to leave, he was able to understand in the best way a seven-year old could.
When you hear movement, you assume it’s Lo’ak, so you turn around but your eyes land on Mo’at which makes you nervous. You know she’s already witnessed you packing your things, so you stand up, trying to come up with an excuse, but before you speak, she puts her hand up, stopping you from conjuring up a lie. “I already know.” A few days ago she was given a vision from Eywa that you were leaving and Mo’at was here to settle your mind and tell you where you should make your new home.
“Mo’at, I don’t want to leave but I have to. I can’t handle the mistreatment and suffering anymore and I don’t want that to trickle down to Lo’ak.” As you continue explaining the reason behind your decision Mo’at nods with soft eyes, understanding why you feel compelled to leave. There have been multiple instances where you came to Mo’at’s marui in the middle of the night, riddled with bruises and fresh tears running down your face from a heated argument that turned physical with Jake and Neytiri. She hates that you had to endure their cruel treatment when you’re nothing but a good mate to them, so she is glad that you are finally leaving, even though she would miss you and Lo’ak.
“I understand, ‘ite, I will help you leave if that is what you wish.” Mo’at places her hand on your shoulder, taking in your presence since she knows that this will be the last time she’ll see you for a long time.
“I don’t know where me and Lo’ak should go. I want to leave in a few hours before everyone comes home, but I don’t know where to go. Pandora is so vast and I want to go somewhere that would be far away.”
“I know the perfect place for you to go. The Metkayina are Reef Na’vi and live in the Eastern Seas. If you travel beyond the sea you will find them and they will allow you to seek uturu among them. The journey will be long so I will help you prepare.” Mo’at begins to help you pack as she goes into detail about the people you will meet, what you will see, and most of all what to expect when you and Lo’ak arrive at Awa'atlu.
After saying your goodbyes to Mo’at, exchanging words and hugs filled with love, you and Lo’ak make your way to the large tree where your ikran resides. “Hello, Hufwe.” You smile softly as you pet the creature, letting it rub its head against your skin. Once your ikran calms itself, you begin to strap your belongings along its back. “We must leave the forest and go far away.” You make Tsaheylu, connecting your queues and letting your ikran feel your emotions, hoping by making the connection, it would feel your sense of urgency about leaving.
Hufwe’s wings began to gain momentum and flap slowly, preparing itself for the journey ahead. You pick Lo’ak up and place him on the ikran’s back before jumping up and sitting behind him. Once you and Lo’ak were in a comfortable position you wrap a blanket around your bodies so you don’t get cold while flying. “Let’s go, Hufwe.” You pat the side of her neck, urging her to spread her wings and fly off into the almost nightly sky. In a blink of an eye you realize that you were soaring high in the clouds, so high that you could see the Hallelujah mountains, the place you used to reside in with your mates.
As you watch the forest grow smaller and smaller you could feel tears begin to blur your vision. You hate to leave the forest, but you know that this move is what you need to keep you and your son safe from the evils of Jake and Neytiri. Knowing that you could start a new life, have a fresh start, and give Lo’ak a better quality of life are the most important things to you right now that it makes uprooting your life worth it. Now things can get better, since you’re free from Jake and Neytiri, and maybe you'll have the chance to find someone better.

pairing ; mama! neytiri te tskaha mo’at’ite x baby!daughter! reader
taggings ; 🪽🍄
summary ; neytiri recently gave birth to her first daughter, and she has never been happier.
2.5k words
Tumblr media
the omatikayan people did not have the same tools that humans did during pregnancy. the mother would receive monthly check-ups from the tsahìk herself to ensure her and baby were strong. when the day came, the mother would be brought to the tsahìk and her top healers to help guide her through the birth and bring her baby into the world.
the navi get no information on their babies before they are born, so when mo’at had placed you in neytiris arms for the first time with her words,
“the great mother has blessed you with a baby girl.”
your mother cried, as did jake. she had already welcomed a son into this world and the news of being able to raise a daughter brought her such joy.
neytiri held you against her chest letting her tears sink into your bloodied hair. all she could do was stare at you, though you were unable to do the same as your eyes hadn’t opened yet.
she rocked you against her chest, expecting your cries to ring throughout the room. when they didn’t, your mother worried and in turn asked her own mother if you were okay.
“sa’nok she isn’t crying. why isn’t she crying?”
mo’at picked you up from your mothers arms and investigated your small body, checking for anything that could be wrong.
the other healers rushed over to their tsahìk offering their aid, blocking view from your mother.
“what’s wrong with her? is she okay? please tell me she’s okay.” neytiri expressed, her lips quivering.
she tried to push herself off the hammock but fell back down due to her weak body after birth. a younger girl in the tsahìks tent lended her aid to your mother, doing her best to calm her.
after a through inspection of your external and internal health, mo’at smiled and placed you back into your moms arms. she gladly took you back and rocked you again, looking at your scrunched up face.
“nothing is wrong. she is just a happy baby.” your grandmother spoke, brushing neytiris hair out of her face.
your mother lightly laughed as she held you even closer. neteyam was such a loud baby when he was born, this was a shock to her.
you let out baby babbles and reached your tiny arms out towards your mothers face. neytiri put her index finger infront of your small hands, and you grasped on. you were only a few minutes old, but you let out a smile to the contact.
“have you and jake decided on a name?”
“(y/n) te suli neytiri’ite.” neytiri said with a smile.
Tumblr media
you were presented to the clan by your father, the olo’keytan. everyone was there, young, old, healer, hunter, even some of the humans.
your father held you high and proud, with your mother by his side. neytiri couldn’t speak due to the overflux of joy she was experiencing. after neteyams presentation, she thought the next wouldn’t be as emotional. that was far from the truth.
“(y/n)!” your father spoke sternly, raising you in the sky.
“(y/n)!” the clan repeated after him.
everyone around felt blessed as they welcomed the tsakarems newest child into the omatikayan clan.
when night fell, it was time for the moment your mother had been waiting for since she first held you. your first connection to eywa was beautiful and full of emotions.
your mother held you this time, jake by her side. she guided your small queue towards eywa’s as you made tsaheylu with the tree of souls. when you and your mother made this bond directly after your birth, you felt neytiris joy and she felt your curiosity. connecting to eywa was different, the feeling was indescribable.
when the bond was made, both of your pupils widen in response. your face was blank a moment, until your broke out into a smile. the only way to describe it was like a hug from the great mother, feeling her warm embrace as she welcomed you into her great creation.
the bond first felt like a feeling, until you blinked and opened your eyes in a meadow within the forest. you saw everything in what seemed to be third person, not truely being there, just observing.
the first thing you saw was a female navi running into the middle of your view. she looked like your mother, though slightly older. she gasped in joy and scooped up what had to be you, as once she did you suddenly were aware of your surroundings and saw the world in first person once more.
“aw, tsu’tey look! she’s so pretty!”
a navi male then entered the scene, coming up behind the female.
“sylwanin, be calm. she is just a baby, you will spook her.”
your mind wasn’t old enough to comprehend what these people were saying, you didn’t understand your language yet.
“ok ok, i’m aunty syl! your sa’nus sister! your such a gorgeous little girl!” the girl who had introduced herself as sylwanin yipped, as she motioned to herself.
she bumped the males shoulder encouraging him to speak up.
“she can’t not even understand m-“ a quick shove to the leg shut him up. “sweet eywa, i am tsu’tey. your..uncle?”
sylwanin, your mothers sister, and tsu’tey, your aunts lover. they rested eternally with eywa now, though you didn’t know it at the time.
“sempul!” your aunt spoke, referencing the much older man now approaching you.
“look at her! isn’t she gorgeous? neytiri makes such cute children.” sylwanin held you up to the elder navi.
“she possesses your beauty as well.” he replied.
“this is your grandpa! eyuktan! he is your mother and i’s sempul.” syl spoke again. “look! everyone is here (y/n)!”
your moms sister held you up and let you see around the forest. there were countless navi surrounding the area, spread throughout the floor and trees. they were all focused on one thing, you. you had been presented to the living memebers of your clan, and now the dead admired you through the great mother.
sylwanin handed you to tsu’tey, speaking to him,
“it is better if you do it.”
tsu’tey held you tight and then to the sky as your father had once done.
“(y/n)!”
the fallen navi spoke loudly,
“(y/n)!”
outside of eywa, at the tree of souls, you were smiling with your eyes closed. once neytiri saw your emotion, she knew you had seen what the great mother intended you to see, and broke the bond.
Tumblr media
“sit neteyam.” your father announced.
your mother sat on the floor of your families kelku, holding you gently in her arms. neteyam sat infront of his mother and put his hands out, wanting to hold his little sister.
“now you have to be gentle, understand? (y/n) is a baby. you can not handle her roughly.” neytiri explained.
“i will! i will! i’ll be super careful sa’nu!” your older brother pleaded his case.
neytiri began to pass you onto neteyam, placing you in his 3 fingered hands,
“support her head.”
your brother held you softly with one hand on your hand and another on your back. he stared into your eyes then back to his mother and smiled,
“she looks like you mama!”
he moved his head and faced towards you again and leaned in,
“i’m ne-te-yam. i’m your tsmukan, and i’m gonna be here forever and ever.”
your mother smiled at her two children, there was nothing in life she would ever desire more then the moments like these.
“sa’nuuu when will she talk?”
Tumblr media
not everything was all sunshine. nights with you were restless. you hadn’t cried during birth, so your mother expected you to be quiet at night, she was wrong.
“shh, ma (y/n) you are okay. there is nothing to cry about.” your mother rocked you and softly tried to put you back to sleep.
your crying didn’t halt and you sobbed. neytiri had done everything to make you comfortable, you were simply being a baby.
at this point you had woken your father and brother. your crying had upset neteyam, and while he was older than you, he was still just a toddler who cried too. jake held his son and tried to calm him.
“what is the mighty warrior crying about? you’re not a baby like (y/n) why do you cry?”
neteyam shook his head and cried harsher which made you cry even louder. his sister waking him up during the night and not being quiet annoyed him so much, there was nothing else he knew how to do but cry.
neytiri was exhausted. with her daughter and son both crying in the middle of night she didn’t know what to do. she rocked and rocked you but nothing seemed to help. she was trying to hold herself together but you paired with your brother made an extremely loud combination.
“jake, i can not. i can not do this. i cant calm her, i am such a bad mother i cant even console my children.” neytiri ranted to her husband, doubting her skills.
her father sat neteyam down despite his protests and embraced his wife as well as you.
“you are doing great love. (y/n) is a baby, babies cry. she will stop eventually, this is not your fault.”
neteyam clung onto his leg sniffling, wanting to be held again.
“sempu!! make it stop!”
you continued crying and weeping, seeming even louder than before now.
jake sighed, “give her to me neytiri.”
your mother reluctantly handed over her daughter to her mate, and picked up neteyam, having an easier time calming him.
jake shook you from side to side, rather than up and down; a trick he learned on earth.
as your cries softened, neytiri stared with wide eyes, mostly thankful but with a hint of jealousy.
“w-wha- how - how did you do that?” she stammered over her words.
“if up and down doesn’t work, try side to side. all babies are different.”
you quickly fell back asleep and jake placed you in your smaller hammock. neteyam sighed in relief and returned to his sleeping quarters as well. now it was neytiris turn to cry.
“i don’t understand, i am her mother. i should know what is best for my baby. i am just failing her ma jake.” she exclaimed, falling back onto her and your fathers shared hammock.
“woah, woah slow it down baby.” jake approached and sat next to her.
“you are a wonderful mother neytiri. i wouldn’t want anyone else raising my babies. you have bore me two strong children, and you will learn their way as they learn ours. doubting yourself will get us nowhere as parents.”
neytiri looked up at him through watery eyes and squeezed him, letting her tears fade away.
Tumblr media
“come to mama (y/n)! use those arms, i know you can do it yawntutsyìp!” neytiri sat shortly away from you, encouraging you to crawl towards her.
your father stood in the kitchen, preparing lunch, as your brother played with his wooden toys; most likely annoying his dad.
you babbled a little and got onto your knees and started crawling, wanting to feel your mother.
“yes ma (y/n) come! you are doing so good!”
you continued with help of your mothers encouragement, wanting to be held even more. you had a big smile on your face as you approached her. once you had made it neytiri swooped you up and hug you as tight as she could without hurting you.
“i am so proud of you my little nantang! you did so good!” she happily spoke
you stared up at your mother and giggled.
“yes that’s right! sa’nu is so proud of you! sa’nu loves you so much!”
your noises started to form something clearer, “saa- sa’nnnu!” you laughed and reached towards your mama.
jake dropped his knife in the kitchen and neteyam had started staring at you.
“you said what? what did you say (y/n)?” your mother spoke in shock and doubt, looking at you intently. “did you say sa’nu? sa’nu?” she asked more questions as jake approached and sat aside you and neytiri.
“sa’nuuu!” you dragged on the word into a weird baby noise and clapped your hands.
“she just- right?” your mother stared at her mate in shock as they both smiled.
your father hugged your mother and smirked while speaking, “sa’nu! your so smart (y/n), so smart! that’s her first word yeah?” he looked towards your mom with the biggest smile.
“yeah! oh- yes (y/n)! sa’nu! your so amazing my little syulang, oh your so great!” she finally spoke, breaking out of her confused silence.
neteyam ran up to the 3 of you at the family celebration, “she can talk to me now right?!”
your mother let out one more sigh of shock and hugged her son and and husband with you still on her chest.
Tumblr media
several weeks later, you had been working on crawling and speaking. you could crawl longer distances and knew a few little words. you and your mother had been alone this time, playing with wooden ikrans.
“whoosh! catch it (y/n)!” neytiri was moving the ikran around in the air, making noises to indicate it flying around.
“you can do it ma yawne!”
you pouted and sat on your knees reaching up, it took a while but you stood up as well, which you had learnt a few weeks ago. neytiri taunted you, raising the toy higher.
“sa’nu! sa’nu!” after you were able to speak a word or two, you never stopped.
“no (y/n) you have to come get it!”
“sa’nu! ikrab! sa’nu!” your pronunciation wasnt the best, but ikran was one of your favorite words.
your mother started backing up on her knees to tease you further, “it’s getting away!”
you started to whine at your mom leaving you behind and would’ve broken out into full sobs if the flap to your home didn’t open.
your father walked in with neteyam behind him, holding a fish in his hands.
“look what this fisherman caught!”
neteyam spoke up, “all by myself dad!”
jake repeated what his son had said, “yes all by himself!”
neytiri clapped for her son, allowing his ego to quickly grow as he puffed his chest out.
“sempu! sem!” you used some of the furniture to assist you in turning around and slowly waddled over to where your dad stood.
at this sight, jake got down on his knees as neytiri gasped.
“hi baby! come on (y/n) keep going!” he motioned his hands towards himself.
your mother teared up behind you, and once you made your way to your father he grabbed you up into the air with a tight hug.
“i’ve got two mighty kids! (y/n) the great walker!”
neytiri rised up from her spot and ran over to her daughter, taking you from jakes arms.
“oh my baby! your getting so big!”
neteyam wasn’t having it with the attention being placed onto someone else.
“mama i walk everyday! i’m the mighty walker!”
both of your parents laughed as your dad picked up your brother, then initiating a family hug.
neytiri wouldn’t have her family any other way.

She was your everything, quite literally after losing your brother and family in RDA attacks, she became your whole world, everyone knew about you and Neytiri, she was like nectar while you followed her like a bee, childhood friendship turned into love, who didn't want that?
Mo’at took the initiative of taking you in, being the mother you lost, your life was nearly perfect, a family, a loving partner, a place to live, good food, a life filled with love and affection all until a certain uniltiranyu was brought into your clan with your soon-to-be mate by his side.
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
You were waiting for the right time to mate, as said by mo'at the time hadn't come yet, but still your heart yearned for the day to come soon.
The vrrtep that has taken a place in your clan, never failed to irritate you, more so since it was sign from the great mother for him to stay and for Neytiri to be the one who train him, your fears grew though, with each passing day as they trained youd see from afar how they behaved together, the practices were getting suspiciously touchy even when not needed.
His little tricks, his constant smile, he always had a hand touching her, her hair… hand… shoulder and it didn't go unnoticed by you.
The communal dinners were the same, while you sat with Mo’at and Eytukan, Neytiri was immersed in a conversation with Jake about practice they had earlier with a radiant smile on her face that you hadn’t seen in weeks since he came into her life, she seemed distant as days passed by… and you were terrified but you trusted her… right?
Mo'at saw the look in your eyes, seeing her daughter with a demon they despised was something the tsahik didn't like herself but even more when she saw the daughter she took under her wing looking at her soon-to-be mate with someone else pained her more.
“Ma ite, everything would be alright, the great mother would not disappoint you, my child, she has a path for everyone…”
Mo'at whispered in your ear as she smiled and placed a hand on your shoulder before cupping your face in her palm.
“Do not be afraid to ask your questions, ask them before it's too late” mo'at knew what she was saying and so did you, you had to talk to Neytiri about this, it was the only way.
You stared at the woman who became your mother then to the one who was supposed to be yours forever and sighed as you picked and fondled at your food and nodded, lost in your thoughts, you had to talk and soon.
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
The clan was turning back to their hammocks now, you returned to the one you shared with Neytiri since who know how long, it for good to have her back with you, at least the nights were yours, she smiled, it was genuine and you could see it, as the hammock covered you both she pulled you closer, tangling her limbs with yours.
Her golden eyes shone in the bioluminescent lights and you couldn't help but smile sheepishly as she pressed lazy kisses on your face.
“Neytiri… I wanted to speak to you.” You whispered in the middle of her kiss session and she stopped with her eyebrows furrowing, still holding you close to her “what is it, yawne?”
You took a deep breath, holding her hand tightly in yours as she laced her fingers with yours with concern on her face “Tiyawn, what is it?”
“I- what's going on between you and that uniltiranyu? I know you are training him but… it's- it's getting- i don't like it, Neytiri”
When you uttered those words, her face went unemotional, there was no love behind those golden eyes as she glared at you, as if all of it just evaporated in a second, which made you rethink your decision to ask her about him.
“Why would you think that, yawne?! He's a demon, one of them! It is just my task to make him one of the people, am I supposed to go against the great mother?! you shouldn't be thinking like that” her tone was cold on some level which didn't sit right with you.
Your heart dropped, this wasn't the reaction you were expecting and you shook your head in a hurry, this wasn't what you meant!
“No- No! Neytiri… this was not what I meant… I was just- um nothing, leave it, I don't want to fight, I'm sorry, i shouldn't have brought it up” you whispered as you her tail was firm behind her, her ears perked up alert.
She scoffed, rolling her eyes as she simply held your hand and closed her eyes, turning away from you to sleep on her back, which made a pang of guilt wash over your heart.
“If you knew me, you wouldn't have said that, Y/n, go to sleep” She whispered as if there wasn't anything else to say and turned around, her back facing you, you've slept this way when you little spooned her but this time it felt different, it was on purpose.
Sleep didn't come easily to you that night while you thought about what he said, you really shouldn't have asked that, of course she's mad, you questioned her loyalty to you? Idiot.
But the thoughts still lingered in the back of your mind, the what ifs were eating you inside out but you pushed them aside and went with it, she loved you, she'd never do something like that.
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
Days passed by and the regular smiles turned into frequent laughs with him, moments together with her were becoming sparse, as if you were just a person who merely entered her life and went away at her expense.
Soon the day of Iknimaya came as you rode your ikran around the floating mountains and landed next to Neytiri while she was behind Jake… her hand on his chest as she Whispered instructions to him, was it necessary to place her hand there?
Still you let it be and focused on the fight that was about to occur between Jake and his chosen Ikran, it was intense as he was nearly thrown over the cliff twice but he managed it somehow and took the first flight which you and Neytiri joined him on.
Only one thing was left now… the ceremony, which would occur tonight and for once you didn't want Neytiri to be with him, it was done, her job was completed, she didn't need to be with him now, or that's what you thought.
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
The ceremony was one of the crucial rituals of omaticaya to become one of them, as for once, a uniltiranyu has become one of them, you were happy with his accomplishments but for now you attention was on Neytiri as the Night was young and alive, you thought it was the perfect time to take her to the tree of Souls.
Neytiri was near the fire circle, chatting with someone until you pulled her aside with a bright smile on your face “Yawne… let us go to the Vitrautral… I have something to tell you” you whispered excitedly holding her hands tightly… but this time she didn't lace them together.
“Do we have to…? Right now? Paskalin… let's not, it's Jake's celebration, he would not like it, we can go… tomorrow!” She said with an unnatural enthusiasm which left you puzzled.
“T- Tomorrow? But it's a beautiful night, let us go right now!” you said as you tugged on her hand but she held back.
“Don't you understand? I don't want to go right now?!” She snapped and you were taken aback, the enthusiasm completely gone as she slid her hands away from yours “you can go rest, I'll come after you”
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
Those were her last words, she never came to your hammock that night and heart filled with the worst scenarios, but what if she just wanted a break today? She has spent many nights like this when she wants to be alone, maybe it's one of those? But you knew it was different, everything was different and you didn't want to think about the other possibilities…
❝Now I have to
Remember you,
For longer than I
Have known you❞
— c.c.aurel
The dawn of that day was the darkest moment of your life…
»»————- 𑁍 ————-««
The commotion in the main area woke you up, the gasps and murmurs filled the tense air, the whispers grew louder when they saw you walk in through the crowd before you heard Tsu'tey grunt and snarl at Jake “You MATED with this woman?!” And your heart dropped as you saw Jake and Neytiri standing between the circle- hand in hand.
“Neytiri…” Your whisper was louder than any scream that she could have heard, the sight in front of you broke your heart like never before, you trusted her…
She looked away, not daring to look at your way, your face, the whole clan was quite watching with bated breaths, mo'at closed her eyes Whispering a prayer to eywa to give you the strength to face this.
You walked forward to her but Jake got in between “Look, Y/n, I'm sorry… I know this was an ass-” but your growl made him shut his mouth as you brandished your knife to his neck and he backed off with his hands in the air “you stay out of this Sulli! Do not talk or-”
Your sentence was cut off when Neytiri tackled you to the ground and snarled and hissed in your face, fury ebbed in her eyes as she pressed her own knife to your throat.
You couldn't care less as you looked into her with all the sincere love you had for her “so this is what I shouldn't have worried for? That you'd “never” do this to me? Why lie Neytiri? Why LIE?!”
You pushed her back with your strength as she was left speechless, the flowers from her hair falling out, you got up ready to fight before Tsu'tey gripped you from behind and held back as for the first time, tears streamed down your flushed azure cheeks, tail swishing behind you tensely.
Neytiri on the other hand looked at the ground in shame, Jake placed a hand on her shoulder in some sort of comfort before she spoke “Y/n… I shouldn't have done that… I know and I still did and will do it again for him because… I'm sorry- I- I don't love you.. anymore” her voice was hushed at the end but the words were enough to cut your heart in half.
Mo'at could watch it as she looked at her daughter in disappointment and then at Jake in anger as she stood beside you “Neytiri, you have done wrong, to our clan and Y/n, your illicit affairs shall be taken care of later”
Her voice was cold and Neytiri was in shock, her mother never called her by her name, always some sort of a nickname but also Neytiri knew she did wrong.
There was no point in standing there as Mo'at and Eytukan took you aside as your sobs were unstoppable while Tsu'tey argued with Jake and Neytiri about something.
You've never felt pain like this, you always saw her as your mate, your dear mate who could do no wrong in your eyes but you were too blind to see the signs.
Now it was all you could do, wallow in the pain of your heart that broke down piece by piece as the one you saw your mate turned your whole world upside down, if this was the path eywa chose for you, then you despise her for it.

Tumblr media
Kinkmas Day 6
Neytiri x female!navi!omatikaya!reader!
Warnings: thigh riding, some cursing/cussing, reader is sub and neyriti is dom as always ;), neytiri eating out reader, petnames: pretty girl, yawne, princess, babygirl, darling, i think that's it
Neytiri hovers over you as she admires the view she has. Your braids sprawled out, your big doe eyes widen with desire, your dark blue skin flushed with a pink hue. "You look so pretty right now y/n, so pretty" Neytiri coos as she gives your lips a gentle kiss before trailing her way down your body.
"ma yawne please don't tease" you whimpered as you arched your back in anticipation. You could feel her mouth get closer and closer to your heat, her tongue leaving a trail which gave you goosebumps. "But I love teasing you darling" Neytiri says seductively as she gave you a flirty wink then dived her mouth to your core.
A moan leaves your lips as you feel her tongue press flat against your other set of lips, lapping up all your juices. "Mmm you taste so good princess, so fucking good" She mumbles against your heat, the vibration of her voice sent your eyes rolling. She began eating you out like there was no tomorrow, like you were her last meal.
"Ah Ah Ah" You moan over and over again as you try to move your hips away but Neytiri has other plans. She grabs your hips and pulls you closer to her, the tip of her tongue teasing your bud. You looked down and the sight you saw almost made you cum right there.
Neytiri's eyes bore into yours as she watched you watch her eat you out.
Her fangs grazing against your soft lips
Her tongue lapping you up like a cat
her lips sucking up all your juices til she sucked you dry
"I'm gonna cum please neytiri please don't stop" You beg her and almost immediately she stops, her lips glistening with your juices. "W-What why did you stop" You ask her sitting up with a dumbfounded look on your face.
"Youre gonna ride me" She says as she helps you sit up straight and pulls you onto her thigh. "Ooh" you mumbled as you feel her soft skin against your soaked heat. "Ride me babygirl" Neytiri instructs and you nod your head while slowly moving your hips back and forth.
Neytiri lets out a moan and you grab her chin to make her face you and you start kissing her passionately. She trails her hands up your body as she began fondling with your breasts. You start to quicken your pace as you break off the kiss and start kissing along her neck and collarbone.
"Fuck darling" She moans as she grips your hips and tightens up her thigh muscle. The roughness against your sensitive bud was enough to get you going. You started gasping and panting as she help guide your hips faster and quicker.
"Imma cum" You tell her as you lean down and began kissing and sucking on her breasts. "Me too babygirl me too" She moans as she quicken her pace with her fingers rubbing her bud.
"Ah!" You practically screamed as you came undone on her thigh and she follows you seconds later coming in her hand. Both of you were breathing deeply and she grabs your face and kisses you gently.
"I love you my pretty girl" She says cheekily and you giggled before giving her a peck on the nose.
"I love you too darling"
an: cheezy ending I know but what can I say I love it 😂

your warrior
Tumblr media
neytiri x gn reader
word count: 818
language: ‘evenge-girl , yawne- beloved
description: ¡Establish relationship! Life as a future leader of clan was no easy feat, especially when the na’vi you called yours was a warrior. Of course the two of you make every moment count, even when patching her up.
Tumblr media
Lazily mixing the herbal paste you allowed your mind to wander. Making herbal remedies all day was tiring. In your opinion, it was the most dreadful tasks of the healers. Sighing with your whole body you continue to grind up the leafs praying that they would magically grind themselves too dust. The boredom was unbearable.
Almost as if Eywa had sensed your misery the flap of the tent was opened. Joyfully whipping your body around you were quick to rise to your feet. You felt your tail wip in excitement as a familiar sent filled your senses.
“Neytiri!” Launching yourself onto the woman you embraced her. Feeling her slender yet toned arm wrap around your frame made your stomach swirl. It did not matter how many times she’s touched you the feeling never seemed to go away.
“Hello yawne.” Hearing her low voice you were quick to pull away, she only spoke like this when something was bothering her. Face warping into worry your eyes scanned her frantically. Eventually finding the source of her discomfort you quickly guided the woman down onto the mat. Anxiously, your body moved at a record speed, gathering all the pastes and herbs you would need.
“You said you would stay away from those tawtute.” Displeasure obviously in your tone you began to pat the blood off her thigh. You had seen enough bullet wounds to know these cuts were from sky people’s weapon. “Yet we can not keep ignoring them. It’s only a matter of time before they become aggressive again.” Stubbornly Neytiri attempted too reason, hoping you would see what she sees. Of course it was no use as your frown only deepened.
Eyes downcast you refused to meet the woman’s gaze as you tended to her wound. Neytiri could only sign at your headstrong personality, knowing it was one of the reasons she admired you so. “I am not out there, I can not stop you.” Rising to your knees you peered down at her. “Just be careful. I can not lose you.”
“I am always careful.” Meeting your eyes with a light smile Neytiri responded. She couldn’t help but admire the way you looked at her with such care in your eyes. It always amused her how you could get worked up over such minor injuries . Not tearing her eyes away from your form for a minute she watched as you moved around the tent. Feeling the burn of her gaze you couldn’t help but feel flustered. There was no doubt your braids were a mess from the days work, that fact only seeming to add to the purple hue on your face.
“I am fine! You cannot pretend to be mad forever.” Feeling her breath fan against your ear your body stiffened. Pretending to be busy with organizing the herbs you avoided her piercing gaze. Not having any of it Neytiri wrapped her tail around your leg. You couldn’t help but shiver at the contact as her tail slowly inched up.
Meeting her teasing gaze it was hard to believe this was the strong warrior the public views. “You are infuriating” Not giving her a secant to respond you crash your lips into hers. Seeming to play right into her hands Neytiri couldn’t help but smile into the kiss. Her hands traveling up to pull on your already messy braids. Placing your hands on her hips you pulled her impossibly closer basking in her heat.
Pulling away Neytiri wore a proud smile as her fangs on full display. A small smile settled on your face despite your attempts to maintain your facade. “You love the way I ‘infuriate’ you yawne.” Pushing the fallen strands of braids behind your ears her yellow eyes scanned your features. “True, my days would be boring without you.” Maintaining a teasing tone you pulled away from the na’vi, putting the medicines up for the night. “You are my ‘evenge after all.”
It was now Neytiri turn to be shy as she avoided your gaze. The purple hue of her ears prominent. “I am not yours yet.” Shyly reminding you of the reality Neytiri spoke low. Her tone almost sorrowful.
“You will be soon, the clan can talk all they want about how ‘weird’ it is that i’m the healer and you’re the warrior.” Bringing Neytiri back into your embrace a small laugh left the woman’s lips. “I can already hear the ‘She’s Mo’ats daughter why is she not the Tsahík’.” Adding onto your point the two of you couldn’t help but giggle at the remarks.
Placing your forehead on hers you stared into her yellow orbs. “I promise to make you mine, so I can always patch you up.” A fanged smile covered Neytiri face at your words. It was now her turn to smash her lips into yours. Her body pushing into you with all the love and passion she harbored.

Sins of the Parents: Chapter 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plot: Kiri is growing increasingly upset with Neytiri due to her treatment of Spider. Neytiri talks to Jake about the issue and he consoles her.
Warnings: familial conflict, Spider internal suffering😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neytiri sat alone in her family’s marui, chopping vegetables to add to the pot she had cooking on the fire. It was awfully quiet, except for the sizzling of the flame and the bubbling of the boiling stew. She longed for the chaotic sounds of her children, having not been away from them this long in weeks.
Jake had gone to assist Tonowari on an errand with the neighboring clans, and they took the kids with them for some extra hands. Jake wanted them to leave the village for a change of scenery… get them out of their heads for a little while.
Neytiri had stayed back to take care of her duties in the village. Thats what she told the kids. But really, she stayed back because she felt that she was not wanted there. Kiri was angry with her and tensions were high. She thought it would be best that she give her some space today.
She began to cook dinner while she waited for them to return. With everything that happened in the prior weeks, communal meals in the village were the last thing on everyone’s mind. It had been one month since the battle with the demon ship… one month since they laid Neteyam to rest. Her baby boy.
It wasn’t long before she heard the screeches of her family’s ikrans. She stood and went outside to greet them, her heart warming at the familiar sight. She was grateful to see that her children had not completely abandoned their forest culture, as they usually travelled by ilu now. When she scanned the scene before her, her body grew cold. One less ikran than before…
Jake dismounted his ikran and helped Tuk down next. Upon reaching the ground, her eyes locked on Neytiri and she ran into her mother’s arms. “Mama! I missed you.” Tuk cried.
Neytiri hugged her tight, warmth enveloping her once again as the scent of her youngest filled her nose.
“Tuk Tuk, my baby. I missed you too.” She said softly before releasing her to stand. “Did you have a good time today?”
“Yeah, dad let me help with a lot.”
“He did?” Neytiri glared over at Jake with a disapproving look. He shrugged, not sure how to respond.
“Hey, mom.” Lo’ak said as he walked over to his mother.
“My son…” she called to him while cupping his face and kissing his forehead.
“Mom,” he groaned. “We were only gone a few hours.”
“A few hours too many.”
One she released him, he took Tuk by the hand and they made their way up to the marui. She watched as they walked away, admiring how much Lo’ak had stepped up as an older brother. He has been so gentle with Tuk these days. It saddened her that he had to grow up so much faster. Once they were out of sight, she turned back to look at Kiri.
Kiri was helping Spider down from her ikran. He had been staying with the Sullys ever since the kids rescued him from the demon ship. Although Neytiri accepted the situation, she was not happy. She felt that he needed to return to his people at High Camp in the forest… but her family obviously disagreed.
She waited for Kiri to look in her direction and greet her, the way her other children had done. But Kiri avoided her mother’s gaze, unfortunately as expected. Neytiri looked to Spider next, to find that he was already looking her way. When they made eye contact, he quickly averted his gaze.
She decided to break the silence. “Ma ite… how was the journey?”
“It was fine, mom” she replied swiftly.
Neytiri was struck by her quick and cold response. She struggled to think of what to say in response, suddenly uneasy. “Alright, well you all were gone for so long… you must be hungry. Supper is almost ready, come on.”
“I’m not hungry,” Kiri said flatly before taking Spider’s hand and leading him towards their home. Spider glanced towards Neytiri one more time before turning away. He thought back to the first night he stayed with the Sully’s. Neytiri didn’t prepare him a dinner plate, and everyone had eaten separately because they were all preoccupied. No one noticed that he did not eat, and he was too ashamed to say anything... not wanting to be a burden. Kiri only found out after she inquired about his stomach grumbling at bedtime.
Neytiri claimed she had simply forgotten, but Kiri felt like her mother did it on purpose. Spider didn’t know what to think. He wanted to believe that Mrs. Sully would have fed him like any of her other kids. But he also knew that he wasn’t her kid… and she hated him. Still, it was easier to think the former. Neytiri hadn’t explicitly done anything wrong to Spider while he stayed with them… but she wasn’t exactly nice to him either. Kiri had been upset with her mom ever since.
Sometimes he felt like he really should go back to the forest. At least then he would be with Norm and Max, feeling like less of an outcast around the humans. But he wouldn’t see his friends… or Jake. Or his dad… his real dad. Quaritch was out there somewhere, and maybe he would come back for his son. Of course he didn’t want the Sully’s to get hurt. But just once, Spider wanted to feel wanted. To feel like he belonged to somebody. Sometimes he thought he was going to hell for saving his father. And sometimes he thought he was already living in a certain kind of hell, always suffering because of the kind of man his father was. But he wasn’t that man anymore, was he? At least, that’s what he said. But Spider wanted to believe him. He had called him “son,” saved him when Neytiri threatened him… that meant something.
Neytiri stood there frozen, watching them walk away and shocked at the way her daughter had spoken to her. Jake had seen the entire interaction while he took the saddles off the Ikran and packed up the remainder of his supplies. He knew how Kiri had been acting towards her, and he felt so incredibly sorry.
Once he was done, he walked up behind her and placed a gentle kiss on her shoulder. “Hey,” he said softly. She had almost forgotten that he was there. She turned to face him. Jake searched her eyes and he could see the pain behind them. “You okay?” He asked with concern.
“Mhm,” she replied.
“Don’t mind her, sweetheart. She just needs some time.”
“I have given her time, and space. I don’t understand what more she wants… does she hate me?”
“She could never hate you. You’re her mom, she loves you” Jake reassured her.
“But did you see the way she spoke to me? She’s never done this before.”
“She’s getting older, she has a very strong mind and her own opinions…”
Neytiri could sense that Jake was holding back. “Ma Jake, what are you not saying?”
“Nothing. Just… maybe show a little bit more compassion for Spider. You know that would make her happy.”
“Compassion?!”
“Please don’t be upset, baby.”
“I am not upset, I am having a hard time understanding.”
Jake took her hands in his, wanting to close the distance between them. He could feel the change in her emotion, which is why he did not want to say anything. He didn’t want to fight. But this was such a complicated subject, it was the elephant in the room. No one could ignore it.
Neytiri continued. “I apologized for holding my knife to the boy that day. I apologized for forgetting to make him food.”
“I know you did.”
“But I must do more? You cannot expect me to.”
“I know how hard it is for you to have him around. I know he reminds you of everything you lost.”
“Everything that was taken from me.”
Tears welled up in Neytiri’s eyes, so Jake pulled her close and held her tightly.
“I don’t expect you to be fully comfortable having him here. But Kiri knows you don’t accept him. She can feel it, and it’s pushing her away. You know she loves Spider like a brother.”
“I know… I just want my daughter back. I feel like I’m watching her slip away right in front of my eyes.”
Jake ran a hand over her hair. “I’ll talk to her, okay?”
She looked up at him. “You will?”
“Yes. Just give it some time, meet her halfway, and it will all be okay.”
She nodded. “Okay.”
The bags under her eyes were prominent. He tucked a few of her braids behind her ear. His gentle touch provided her with the comfort she always needed.
“Did you get any sleep while we were gone?” He asked.
Neytiri shook her head, her brows furrowed. “I dont sleep well these days anyway.”
Jake took a breath and hugged her to his chest again. “Yeah… me neither.”
Neytiri let out a deep sigh. “We do not sleep… but please tell me that you are hungry at least.”
“Ehh I don’t know, I’m still pretty stuffed from-”
“Jake!” She cut him off and yelled while pushing him playfully. A look of utter shock and betrayal coming over her face.
Jake threw his head back in laughter. “I’m sorry, I’m kidding! I’m actually starving.”
She smiled up at him. “Good. Come on, lets go.”
They walked hand in hand up to their home to meet their children.

dom neytiri. :3
eeee this was written up so quick and it's not great (it's defo more soft!dom) but <3 also mdni! eighteen plus only please!!
Tumblr media
“my beautiful” she has you pinned below her body, her leg between your thighs and her lips on your neck. and she whispers terms of love and affection in your ear, which has you gripping her muscled arms. she trails the kisses lower and lower, moving her arm to pin yours above your head with a “no” and you nod slightly, deciding to play by neytiri's rules today.
when her lips finally meet your clit, you arch your back, pushing your hands against the grip she had you in, but no budging happened, she was just much stronger than you were. “weak, weak girl” she smirks and swipes her tongue out further, pressing it to the soft mound between your legs.
she moves her hand down, bringing long fingers up and down your thighs, before slipping the tip into you, which alone had you moaning for her, to which she let out a slightly evil laugh. “tell me how much you need it my love” her lips glisten with how wet you are for her and she sinks her finger slightly further in, causing you to let out a gasp and grind upwards.
“tell me and i’ll give you whatever you need”

P.U.N.K GIRL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING: NEYTIRI X HUMAN/AVATAR! READER
SUMMARY: Finding someone to love is difficult especially when she wanted nothing to do with at first, but now you are one with her. Though you remember the feelings that came before it.
WARNINGS: AFAB reader, reading having a close relationship w Miles Quaritch, hints to a traumatic teen life.
Tumblr media
“People say she’s bad, but they see the way she is with me”
“She a monster, a beast.” Colonel Quaritch huffed on about Neytiri, after watching a video of her shot down some of the RDA’s camera.
While you respected Miles Quaritch (a lot), you couldn’t help but think his words were wrong. You weren’t even listening what he was droning on about; you were miles away with the so called “beast”.
“P is for the painful way she makes me feel some days”
“You will never learn the ways of the People; just another tawtute.”Neytiri hissed at you, swatting you away. You let out a pathetic “please wait up”, for Neytiri to turn and hiss at you.
“Go away, tawtute. You are ruining everything. Just go.” Neytiri scolded at you. You felt hurt by her words but you knew she was somehow right.
You left, knowing it was better for her to cool down. Though her words pierced your heart, digging deeper as she stalked away.
“U is for Utopia, the other times with her”
A smile spread across your face as Neytiri dragged you by your arm, through the bioluminescent forest after Eclipse.
Neytiri wanted to show you her favorite spot on Pandora; a cave which held a bioluminescent pond. Her spots lit in the darkness and she smiled brightly at you.
You two had reached it, stripping of your tewng and Neytiri, letting out a whoop, dove in and you closely followed.
As both of you emerged from the water, your face was splashed and Neytiri laughed at your expression.
“Oh it’s on, princess.”you hissed and Neytiri laughed at your threat.
“N is for the new wave dreams she had back in her teens ”
“When I was a teen, I spent my years letting loose and trying to make a name for me.”you confessed, not letting Neytiri know the actual truth of your teen life. Neytiri, sensing your sadness, only smiled at you and brushed away a stray hair.
“How about you, Tiri ?” you asked, curious of her life. Neytiri looked up, and you regretted asking knowing about what happened to her older sister.
“In my teen years, I trained to be the best hunter yet. I always wanted …..” Neytiri trailed off, and you nudged her, encouraging to go on.
“It is pretty childish but to be the Toruk Makto.” Neytiri whispered and you smiled, pulling up by her arms. “No way, that ain’t childish, that so badass. Can you image Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite, Toruk Makto.” you twirled her around and she let out a joyous laugh.
“K is for the kid in her”
Neytiri stalked her prey, as it unknowingly watched a fish swim in a stream. ‘How foolish was it, not listening to its surroundings’ Neytiri thought, shook her head she as was only a arm’s length away.
Neytiri reached out her arm, and caught her prey, pulling at her tail. You let out a yelp, losing your fish. You turned around as Neytiri’s laughed reached your ears.
“Oh you should’ve seen your face. It was like when you and Jake Sully were being chased by the Thanator.” Neytiri puffed out, clearly enjoying your reaction.
Though her laughs turned a shriek as you tackled her onto the ground, pinning her down. Your eyes met and both of you smiled at each other. Then her hands pulled at your ears, earning her a yelp.
“My P.U.N.K girl”
Your hands brought forward your kuru connecting with Neytiri’s, forming a tsaheylu. You smiled as Neytiri moved closer, bringing her lips to yours. Embracing the warmth of the kiss and Neytiri, you knew more than anything that you were meant for each other.
Neytiri pulled back and said “I see you, ma [name].” You returned the words, and slowly you two sunk into mossy ground underneath the Tree of Souls.
After joying each other’s embrace, Neytiri laid her head on your beating chest. “I love you, my princess.” you whispered, kissing her forehead as she drifted into a peaceful sleep.

Tsu’tey remembered when he first came back from death.
It was like clawing out of the ground and feeling as though there was dirt filling his lungs. He remembered Arvok hugging him and crying into his shoulder when he found him awake. He remembered his father sitting nearby and quietly thanking the Great Mother for this second chance, for this mercy, even though they didn’t deserve it. He remembered his mother calling him a gift and that Eywa favored him, that he was the true and chosen Olo’eyktan to the People. Like he was some type of god that Eywa created herself.
He remembered feeling so horrible that his mother didn’t even see him as her son anymore. But a god of sorts. An idol to look to.
Someone so perfect that no one, not even a demon or the daughter of a “simple” Tsahik deserved his attention or praise.
The People celebrated once they learned that Tsu’tey had survived the battle, even when all the odds were against him. In a way, they looked to him as some sort of god too. Not to the extent that Artsut did but idolized him, nonetheless. Tsu’tey remembered feeling frozen as if he were turned to stone, hardened into an empty vessel.
He didn’t feel like himself. He just felt exhausted.
All. The. Time.
And no matter what he did, that exhaustion or feeling of wanting to sleep for a long, long time, never left him. He was just stuck in this state where he was both living but half buried in the ground.
It wasn’t until Tsu’tey confessed to what he was feeling to Jake who then put everything he felt into words that he could not—still couldn’t—quite understand.
“It’s a common thing we humans feel,” Jake explained once when it was just the two of them in the middle of the night.
Sitting in a tree, watching a lively celebration far below. That world seemed so far away at the time. And it was then that Tsu’tey felt like the god his mother praised him to be. Disconnected from the world that he so cherished but watched over them with a protective heart.
“That exhaustion, truthfully, that probably won’t ever go away. This depression can wear us down until all we want to do is sleep without worrying about waking up. Living doesn’t feel the same anymore. Almost like it’s a burden to both you and everyone around you. And then comes the exhaustion.”
Tsu’tey stared at Jake, both thoughtfully and to memorize every detail of the dreamwalker’s face. “Have you felt this?” It was the predictable question at the time. He seemed to know exactly what Tsu’tey felt, so much so, that it sounded as if he lived through—still went through this experience.
Humans were as peculiar as they were dangerous. They hid their feelings. They didn’t allow themselves the freedom to feel as if someone or something was holding them back. They were often birds trapped in a steel cage when the way out was right in front of their face.
That was a certain observation one would notice if they paid close attention. Tsu’tey paid Jake a lot of attention. Memorized his micro-expressions. Noted the way he hid behind an impenetrable wall with a single window he only allowed certain people to look through.
It’s what Tsu’tey imagined loving Jake would be like. Finding ways to climb over that wall to embrace that lonely soul on the other side.
Which was why he was keenly aware of the fact that Jake never answered his question. But instead said, “Many people don’t always have someone to keep them above the surface. That is why most end up drowning forever until they fall asleep. It’s okay to feel these things, even if they’re hard to acknowledge. And if you need to talk, I’m always here. I’m too human not to help you, even if you don’t approve of me.”
While Jake’s words were somewhat flowery and cautious in delivery, there was Neytiri, who grounded him with her very blunt words.
“You are not a god. You are Tsu’tey.”
She did not see him as a god. And he was grateful for that.
Perhaps that was why he so easily fell for her after the war. Or, rather accepted his feelings after forcing them back because of his guilt with Sylwanin.
You did not see him as a god.
And he was relieved by that.
Yet that relief would soon be buried beneath the horror of something else he saw whenever looking at you.
It was himself.
Half alive. And half buried in the ground.
And Tsu’tey had this strong urge to start digging at the ground with his bare fingers. Until his nails were filled with dirt. Until his clean skin was dirtied. Until they bled.
He owed you that much.
“That demon did this!” His mother, Artsut hissed while she knelt next to Arvok’s sleeping body in some form of protection. She stared up at him, pleading, desperate, and angry. “Will you let that creature run free like you did before? Look what that thing’s done! She’s hurt your blood! Be Olo’eyktan and exact punishment on the ones that hurt your family!”
“Reeds didn’t do this.” His mate, Jake protested calmly—as calmly as he could when it came to Artsut. His arms were wrapped around him so tightly his muscles twitched whenever he moved, tail lashing behind him as he continued. “Arvok had already explained what happened. The Tipani warriors were going for Hell’s Gate. Arvok had tried to stop them, they got pissed and injured him—”
“And who’s fault is that?!” Artsut snapped viciously, eerily resembling that of a palulukan. “If that demon hadn’t landed here none of this would be happening!” She turned her fiery gaze onto Tsu’tey, her pleading becoming more adamant as she spoke. “You must kill it! This is your doing, you never should’ve let it live! And now our clan is in danger because of that creature—”
Jake scoffed, his tail swinging now, “You’d love that, wouldn’t you?”
Artsut hissed at him, “You do not deserve to speak, demon! I should have connived my son to kill you the first day you came to us—”
“Enough!” Tsu’tey hissed as he stalked forward and grabbed his mother by the arm.
“Tsu’tey—” She tried protesting only to be interrupted by his hiss.
“Be quiet, mother.” He led her out of his shared hut and went outside.
Once they were further away from the entrance, he let her arm go.
“My son—”
“No, mother.” Tsu’tey didn’t want to hear any excuses or laments that would make him feel awful for putting her in her place. “I’ve warned you and you’ve gone too far many times now. You are my mother, I do not wish to remove you from my children’s lives—”
She gasped and grabbed his wrist, “Do not be so cruel to your mother! You would prevent me from seeing my own grandchildren?!”
“You do not even accept the one son that I have!” Tsu’tey snapped but stopped when her eyes widened. He did not wish to shout. He did not wish for any more division. But she wasn’t making it any easier on him. So he continued slowly, “Jakesully is my mate. Neytiri is my mate. I will not allow you to keep disrespecting them. They are a part of my life, they make me happy. Shouldn’t that be what you wish for your own son? Do you not want me to be happy?”
Artsut scoffed in disbelief as if what he was saying were unbelievable, “Of course, I do. I wish for nothing but eternal happiness for my one and only boy—”
“I am not your only child.” He said gently, his heart falling. “Your son nearly died—”
“I know this! Do you think I do not know?!” Her eyes became glassy, her grip on his wrist tightening. “But know this, son. I do want your happiness. That is what any mother wants for her children.”
Tsu’tey watched her with a frown. He wished, he really wished he could believe her. Maybe a part of him did—wanted to. But he couldn’t help this unease in him whenever she was around him and his mates. He’d always feel her disapproval. No matter what flowery words she’d say, she would not change her opinion of Neytiri, Jake, Neteyam, and even their unborn little one.
But today he would not push any further. Today he was simply too tired.
“You should return to your home.” He told her and pulled his wrist free from her grasp. “Arvok will stay with us tonight—”
“Tsu’tey—”
“It is closer to the Tsahik’s where she can come and go freely to check on him.” He turned his back to her as the next words spilled out of his mouth like blood. “I do not want you near during that time. Or for a while. Not until I say you can come.”
There was a beat. And then there was sniffling. Tsu’tey refused to look at her. “You are abandoning your mother! You would do this to your own mother, who carried you for so long—” Tsu’tey ignored her words and ignored the pang in his chest as he forced himself to walk away. “It is that demon that has done this to us! They keep destroying everything we hold dear! If you will not kill it then I will—”
At that, Tsu’tey whirled around and stalked toward her as he spoke warningly, “You should be thanking Eywa that your son isn’t dead! You should be thanking our Great Mother that the demon had brought Arvok back instead of leaving him for dead! You should be thanking her that the arrow did not hit him but the demon instead! And yet here you are, plotting to kill Eywa’s favored!”
At this, Artsut scoffed, “Eywa would not favor a stain on her beautiful creation—”
“As Olo’eyktan I order you to stay away from the de…” He winced, not wanting to sound as venomous as his mother did. “—from the dreamwalker. I will carry out the will of Eywa as I intend to do. As this clan is intended to do. And because of that, she is under my protection now. She has saved my brother—your son.  She has earned this right. You will leave her alone.”
“And what if I don’t?!” Artsut shouted as Tsu’tey turned his back away from her and began stalking back to his hut. “Will you punish your own mother?! Will you kill me?! Tsu’tey? Tsu’tey, answer me! Do not turn your back on me! Tsu’tey—”
Her cries continued to ring in his ears, making him tremble.
He did not feel like a god.
He just felt like a failure.
Failure of a son.
Failure of a mate.
Failure of a leader.
He did not return to his hut.

You were lost. That was fine.
To be honest, you weren’t even focusing enough to go where you wanted. Frankly, you weren’t even sure how to get to your mother’s burial from here. All you did was wander around until you were far enough from the clan, until all you were surrounded by was forest until your legs gave out to the point where you couldn’t walk anymore.
There was a large leaf nearby, big enough for you to duck under it and sink to the ground as it covered your head from the rain. There was still a bit of daylight out, so you had more than enough time to stay there. Because getting back up was going to be difficult.
And you weren’t even sure if you wanted to keep going.
Your mother’s songcord was dangling from your hands now as silent tears spilled down your cheeks. You cried. And cried. And cried. And cried. And cried. Until you were hallowed. Until you weren’t sure if there was anything left of you at this point.
God, you hadn’t cried in so long.
You were dead. Your real body was dead. That wasn’t even your choice either. You had been poisoned, you died, and now you were in a new body.
None of it had been your choice. You didn’t want this. If you had the choice—if it were really up to you—you would’ve let the poison kill you. Anything was better than living in this hell where everything just seemed to be against you.
No matter what you did to make your situation better, something always came along and tackled you back to the ground, pushing you further and further until you began sinking again.
Death could’ve ended all of that.
But even that choice was taken out of your hands.
You could’ve done it now.
You could’ve gone back to Hell’s Gate, grabbed your knife, and…
And—and—and—
For a moment, your mind was quiet as you stared at your mother’s songcord. As you stared at the bone that ended the string.
You were a coward.
Something rustled a few feet away from you. Your body froze and considered the sounds around you. The rustling continued, drawing a little too close for your comfort.
With that, you ducked from under the leaf and moved away from the sounds.
Because even if you somewhat wanted to die, you sure as hell knew it wouldn’t be at the hands of a palulukan.
No. You were just a coward.
Dying took bravery. And you didn’t feel too brave at the moment.
All you could do was stagger forward until you found something to latch onto. To take you away from this until you felt brave enough.
Until then, you kept wandering through the forest. Letting rain pour onto your already wet and somewhat matted hair.
You tugged at one of the locks and hummed to yourself. You should do your hair.
At that, you kept going until eventually you found a waterfall. By then the rain had finally let up, the air was cool, and the smell of rain stayed with you despite the downpour disappearing.
It would’ve been calming if you allowed it to be.
The area itself was beautiful even in this dreary weather. You found a rock just a few feet away from the mainland and jumped onto it. Sitting down with your legs crossed, you leaned over the edge a bit, staring back at your reflection in the water.
Well, you supposed you looked as horrible as you felt. Your hair was one of the main things contributing to that. The braid that Neytiri made was still intact but the rest of your hair was just a wild mess. It was beginning to mat together and form dreads.
So, not particularly happy with the look and wanting a good enough reason to distract your hands and mind, you began doing your hair.
Diving into the waters wasn’t a good idea considering your healing injuries. Instead, you ducked your head into the waters. It was nice. Feeling the cool water against your skin, waking you up slightly. You would’ve stayed like this for a while and you did, considering you could hold your breath for a while.
The tension in your muscles relaxed and right when you were feeling yourself being pulled to sleep, something yanked on your queue, bringing your head out of the water and causing you to fall onto your back.
“Ow!”
“Skxawng!” You looked up only to regret it when you found Tsu’tey scowling down at you.  “What do you think you are doing?!”
You rolled your eyes and tugged your queue out of his grasp, “Obviously I came to drown myself. Congrats, you just saved the inconvenience.” Tsu’tey frowned, looking incredibly serious. You looked up at him and sighed, “I’m kidding. Do you guys not make depressing jokes now and then? Or is that only a human thing?”
He didn’t respond and you weren’t exactly waiting for one. Instead, you turned away from him and began parting your hair. You didn’t have a comb so running your hands through your thick curls was the best you could do for now. The best you could do at this point was take two strands and begin twisting them.
Tsu’tey appeared next to you, looming and watching you do your hair with a huff, “You’re doing that wrong.”
You glared, “I know how to do my own hair thank you.”
He didn’t move and you ignored him as you kept going with your hair. That was until you felt longer fingers wrap around yours and remove it from your hair.
“Hey—”
You felt his hands in your hair. Instantly, you went to yank yourself away from him only to stop when you felt his fingers move. It wasn’t rough or harsh, it was actually rather careful and precise. Any other day you would’ve shoved him away and told him to never touch your hair again but seeing as his braids were pretty neat and concise, you reconsidered.
Hell, maybe you’ve lost it. You were seriously letting Tsu’tey—the man who hated you the most—do your hair.
Maybe when you died you somehow went into a whole other universe. Yeah, that had to be it.
He was mumbling under his breath in Na’vi. You caught some words here and there like “humans” and “useless” a few times. But other than that his voice had been too quiet and quick for you to understand or at least translate some of the things he was saying.
Eventually, his hands disappeared from your hair. “There.” You watched as he stepped away from you to grab a bow from the ground, stretching his fingers, his face turned away from you so that you couldn’t see his expression.
You felt your hair to find some of it braided while the rest would’ve been left to mat together again. You tugged on it thoughtfully, perhaps you could let them turn into locs. It would be easier anyway. A lot more manageable considering you often forget to do your hair these days.
Next to you, Tsu’tey had also grabbed an arrow and approached the edge of the rock, pointing his bow down at a group of fish floating around the rock the both of you were on. You halfheartedly watched as the arrow flew into the water seconds later and hit one of the fish.
Absentmindedly you tugged on another braid as he went into the water to grab the arrow, “The Tsahik is looking for you.” He took the arrow from the water and yanked the fish off the tip. “She says you should not be up right now but resting. She is very upset at your disappearance.”
You didn’t respond. Tsu’tey looked back at you expectantly and you frowned, “So you came looking for me?”
A part of you was half-joking and half-annoyed when asking the question. You just wanted to be alone for a while. And dealing with Tsu’tey was the last thing you wanted right now.
“Yes,” Tsu’tey responded easily as he threw the dead fish to the spot next to you. You cringed away from it as he drew back another arrow. “And by the time I am done here, you will be coming with me to be checked by her.” You glared at the ground. A beat went by. “I will not take no for an answer. Your wounds are still healing—”
“Can we just, can we wait for a while?” You dropped your hands from your hair and into the waters. “I just—I need a place to breathe, okay? Back there, it’s just too suffocating. And I really don’t want to fight today. I’m too tired, so please…”
You didn’t look at him. But you did hear the arrow release and hit the water. Another beat went by. The waters slushed as he moved, “So you came here. For peace.”
It wasn’t a question but more of a statement like he understood it.
And reluctantly, you nodded in response.
For a while, you were quiet. Both of you. Tsu’tey grabbed the arrow and tossed the fish onto the rock. The water filled the silence, bringing you a sense of comfort in this long silence. You didn’t feel obligated to speak and Tsu’tey didn’t bother to conversate either. A big difference between him and Jake who would probably be talking your ear off with stupid jokes and infuriating jabs.
Not that it wouldn’t help a bit.
But right now, all you felt was exhaustion. Even Tsu’tey allowed himself to appear somewhat tired, at least from what you saw whenever his face was turned in your direction.
 “I thank you.”
You looked at him then, his back was still turned to you as he continued, “For saving my brother. Arvok. The arrow, he could have died if you hadn’t taken it for him. You—”
“Anyone would’ve done it.” You shrugged off, not wanting this type of attention. Especially not from him. What you did may have been somewhat heroic but you sure as hell didn’t feel that way. “You don’t have to thank me.”
“But I will.” Tsu’tey drew his arrow back again. The arrow flew again and hit another fish. “Even when I treated you horribly. You still saved him.”
You frowned and shook your head. His thanks for some reason made you feel worse. You didn’t know why but you wanted it to stop. “Like I said, anyone would’ve done it if they were in my position.”
“Hmph.” Tsu’tey tossed the third fish onto the rock and jumped back onto the rock with you. He grabbed the three fishes by the tail and nodded toward the forest, “Come, we should head back—”
“No.”
You heard him sigh, “Dreamwalker—”
“I can’t go back right now.” You blurted out, your hands clenching into fists as you glared down at your reflection. “I just can’t, okay? I can’t go back and face the pitiful looks Norm will send me. I can’t go back to Neytiri telling me that Eywa saved me or gave some fucking second chance that I had no say in. I can’t go back to hear Jake apologize over and over and over again until I go fucking crazy! I just can’t!”
You buried your face into your hands, not wanting to look at him, not wanting to face the world. All you felt, all you wanted to do was just crawl into a hole and hope that everyone left you alone. You hoped that you could lie down and become stone. You hoped you could become the tragedy that was amid the beautiful Pandora.
You hoped—You hoped—You hoped—
Something within your body told you that you were crying but no tears came.
Half alive and half buried.
Until they bled.
Something heavy landed on top of your head. It took you a moment for you to realize it was a hand—Tsu’tey’s hand. You dropped your hands from your face and frowned, reluctantly looking up at him to find him staring back at you.
God, these people were straightforward when it came to expressing themselves. Even Tsu’tey, who you considered the hardest to read out of the three.
“It is sad.” Tsu’tey squatted down next to you, his hand gently ruffling your hair. Your ears twitched, “I am sorry.”
You were taken aback, to say the least. Never in a million years could you imagine Tsu’tey out of all people, comforting you. Frankly, you never thought he felt anything toward you to enact such a strange reaction from him. And yet you didn’t move. Too afraid that if you flinched then he would take his hand away.
A part of you felt awful that he had to do this. And a part of you…
“You don’t have to do this.” You mumbled.
He huffed, “I do what I want. And I choose to be here. You saved my brother.”
“That doesn’t mean you have to comfort me.” This unyielding guilt was overwhelming, You almost wanted to shove his hand away. “I feel like I’m using you.”
“Then use me.”
You shook your head again, his hand remained firm, “You’re impossible—as usual.”
“Hmph.”
The both of you stayed like this for a while longer. It was getting dark. Creatures would start coming out soon. Perhaps you should stop being so stubborn and move already.
Tsu’tey didn’t say anything though. He was rather still and quiet. You looked over, for a moment wondering if he was asleep.
Only you found his yellow gaze staring at something intensely. Frowning, you followed his gaze.
Floating toward the both of you was an atokirina. Huh, you hadn’t seen one of these in a while. And even now they were still as pretty as you remembered them. Last time there were multiple, but this time it was one.
You stood and Tsu’tey followed seconds after.
Even for this, you remained still. As if moving would somehow scare it off. Tsu’tey must’ve had the same thought, standing as still as a statue next to you as the atokirina floated over your heads. The pure creature hovered over Tsu’tey’s forehead for a bit until it came over to you, tickling your nose.
Tsu’tey watched you and the atokirina in astonishment. It floated between the two of you for a moment before finally floating away.
You watched it in for a moment longer before your arm began to throb. Tsu’tey noticed you rolling your arm back uncomfortably and finally snapped out of his trance, “Is your arm bothering you?”
“A little.” You admitted reluctantly.
With a nod, he grabbed the fish and then the bow as he gestured toward the forest, “Come. We should return now. Mo’at is waiting.”
This time you did not protest. You glanced back toward the direction the atokirina disappeared before finally following after Tsu’tey.
Tumblr media
When you got to Mo’at’s hut, she was already scowling at you. And surprisingly it was rather scary. So much so, that you unconsciously shrunk behind Tsu’tey so you wouldn’t feel any of her wrath. Jake and Neytiri were there as well, for what you did not know, but they appeared to have been waiting for yours and Tsu’tey’s return.
“Well, now we know you are well enough to foolishly run off.” Mo’at huffed as she pointed toward the spot on the floor. “Sit.”
Without waiting for you to respond, Mo’at dragged you to the spot and sat you down on the floor. Tsu’tey remained near the entrance and watched you silently. He hadn’t said anything ever since you started your walk back to their base. You wondered if he was at all bothered about seeing the atokirina. Or if it was on his mind at all.
While Mo’at wiped the dried mush from your arm, Neytiri squatted down next to you, “How are you feeling?”
“I died.” You said dryly. “Other than that, I’m swell.”
Jake sighed from his spot closest to Tsu’tey and the entrance, “Well, her snark’s intact. You sure she’s not back to normal?” You rolled your eyes, Neytiri rubbed your back while glaring at Jake.
“We saw an atokirina,” Tsu’tey spoke for the first time since you left the waterfall. “It came to the demon and I…” He said the rest of his explanation in Na’vi. You frowned, looking at Jake and Neytiri to gauge what exactly he was saying. You watched Neytiri’s ears twitch as her eyes brightened. Then there was Jake who looked completely serious, tail swinging behind him. Mo’at gave nothing away as she added more mush to your arm. You held back a scoff, irritated that you were the only one who couldn’t understand a single word.
“Another sign from Eywa,” Mo’at spoke in English. She looked at you almost knowingly as she continued. “This dreamwalker is here for a reason. Maybe for the same reason, Jakesully had come to us. Or something completely different. Perhaps this is her way of choosing a fourth for you.”
Neytiri perked up instantly, her hand squeezing your good shoulder gently. Jake’s head was bowed, hiding his expression. And Tsu’tey just frowned. And you felt your entire face grow hot. Suddenly you were rather aware of everything around you. If you had been standing, you would’ve fainted.
“Or maybe it’s something else?” You offered, trying to move the conversation forward instead of enduring this awkward and uncomfortable silence.
Mo’at watched all four of your expressions and huffed, “Come. We will just ask the Great Mother ourselves—”
“No, we don’t have to.” Jake stood straighter, tail lashing behind him.
Neytiri stood and sent him a look, “Ma’ Jake—”
But he shook his head, “I’m not doing it. I’m not taking her as a mate. That’s not fair and you know it—”
“And if it is in Eywa’s will?” Mo’at challenged, raising an invisible brow. “What then, Jakesully?”
“Don’t I get a say in this?” You added, already growing irritated by this conversation.
“Yeah, you’re right. You do have a say in this. But I’m gonna make this easy for you.” Jake nodded steely. “We’re fine as three. There is no room for another—especially her.”
“Fuck you!” You snapped, shooting to your feet. “Who the hell do you think you are—”
“Hey, I’m on your side here!” Jake argued. You failed to see the surprised reaction from your outburst, you failed to see the way he raised his hand as if easing you like you were a dangerous animal about to pounce—no you saw that actually. And it only pissed you off even more. “Do you want me to lie and welcome you into my family with open arms just like that? Or do you want the honest truth, Reeds? You value that, right?”
You let out a humorless laugh, skin boiling in anger now, “You really are full of shit, you know that, Sully? So you think it’s okay to just discard me then? As if I don’t have any fucking feelings? Am I just an emotionless body to you, Jake? Am I not supposed to be offended? ‘Especially her’? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?!”
“That’s enough—” Neytiri started only to be stopped by Mo’at who watched the two of you keenly. Even Tsu’tey didn’t even speak up. He didn’t snap at you nor did he stop Jake. He just watched on in grim silence that neither you nor Jake bothered to notice.
“I’m doing this for you—I’m not sayin’ this just to be an asshole, Reeds!”
“Could’ve fooled me.” You snickered mockingly. Honestly, you had no idea why you were so angry. You were just tired. Tired of him. Tired of this. Tired of all this bullshit. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, Sully, you’re not exactly prize material either, so there. Why don’t you just say that instead of hiding it behind some horse shit—”
“Jesus Christ.” He muttered in disbelief. Jake looked to the sky, struggling to respond. Struggling to string the words together.
But it shouldn’t have been that hard. “You’re right, I do value truth, Sully. So be fucking honest and just spit it out. Enough of the trying to protect me bullshit—I’ve heard enough of it and I don’t need any more of it. Say what you want, do hide now. It’s easy when it comes to me, right?”
You were just angry. So, so angry. You weren’t even sure if this anger deserved to be directed at him. If this anger was even about this conversation. You weren’t even sure why you were fighting so fiercely.
Jake scoffed, “And you think you make being around you easy? You don’t think maybe there’s a reason I blow up at you? You don’t think maybe it’s because you can be a huge asshole sometimes?”
“Oh yeah, this mate shit is going to work out perfectly.” You snorted.
“I can’t mate with someone I don’t love,” Jake spoke more bluntly toward Mo’at, Neytiri, and Tsu’tey. “I don’t know how much more honest I have to be about this. I can’t love someone like her. How can I? Not even a fucking miracle could ever get me to, and that’s the truth. You happy now? Is that what you want to hear?”
The tent was silent by then. Neytiri, in the former of your eye, had her tail lashing behind her. Tsu’tey, who stood further back behind Jake held an unreadable expression instead of his usual severity but offered nothing. Mo’at just waited with her keen eyes on all four of you. She then sighed and shook her head, mumbling something in Na’vi.
You wished you weren’t so affected by his words. “Fine. Don’t love me, Jake.” You wished your heart didn’t sink to the pits of your stomach. You wished your heart wouldn’t take this much hut. You didn’t even want him. You didn’t even want a mate.
But you were knowable. Unlovable.
You’ve always known this. So it shouldn’t have hurt so much for someone to tell you this straight to your face.
“Earn that shit.” You muttered, schooling your face into your usual impassive mask despite your achy eyes. Now you looked to Mo’at who was watching you in particular, “Is that all, Tsahik?”
You failed to see Jake’s shoulders fall and his ears lower, “Reeds—”
Mo’at spoke over him, “I want you back here in two days. Your wound is not fully healed yet.” She then looked at Tsu’tey, her eyes seeming to want something from him, “Is there a problem with that, Olo’eyktan?”
At this, Tsu’tey shook his head stiffly, “No. You are Tsahik. You must continue your work.”
“Mmph.” Mo’at huffed in what appeared to be disappointment. “Then you may leave, dreamwalker.”
You nodded and stalked toward the entrance. Neytiri tried reaching for you but you had been to quick for her grasp to catch, “Ma ‘tanhi…”
Jake avoided your gaze as you passed him, “I’ll see you later, Neytiri.” You stepped out of the hut, not bothering to look back.
After jumping down a few branches and landing on the ground, you found that two warriors were waiting for you on pa’li. One of the warriors guided a pa’li toward you, which you got on without much difficulty.
And without looking back, the pa’li began to move. You were cold. And tired.
Half alive and half buried in the ground.
Tumblr media
“I will make sure my warriors return her safely to the human base,” Tsu’tey spoke stiffly as he ducked out of the hut. Jake watched him go, uneasy about what his mate could’ve been thinking at the moment. It was the most difficult when Tsu’tey was like this. He was hard to read and wouldn’t let up until he confessed to what he was feeling. So, all Jake had to do was wait until then.
But right now, he did know one thing.
Fuck.
He’d gone too far.
Neytiri had watched you go just a few feet from the entrance of the hut and by the time you were long gone she stalked back inside. Jake flinched when her glare stabbed him through his thin skin when it came to her fury, “Why did you do that? Why were you so cruel? Why are you trying to push her away?”
His ears flattened again, “Tiyawn—”
“No!” She shook her head and backed away from his reach. “You humans and hiding your true feelings. I know you, Jake. I know what you said wasn’t true and yet you chose to hurt her anyway. Why? Why do this?”
Jake frowned, his body tensing, “How do you know this isn’t how I feel—”
“Baah!” Neytiri hissed, smacking his shoulder. “Even if what you said was true, you did not need to be cruel! You do not need to hurt her! Do you even care?!”
“Of course I do!” Jake argued. He wasn’t heartless. Of course, he saw how his words affected—continued to affect you.
God, why did you always react that way when it was him? Why did his heart always feel heavy whenever it came to yelling at you these days? You weren’t like this with Tsu’tey, you always fired back. Why was it different with him? “What I said was true. I am doing this for her! I’m trying to protect her—”
“From what?” Neytiri hissed as if the words he was saying were false. “No more excuses, Ma’ Jake, what is it that you are so afraid of?!”
How did she do it? How did she fiercely protect you like this without a care in the world? How did she fiercely care about you without being frightened of the consequences? “You weren’t there when Artsut threatened her life.” At this Neytiri faltered, her ears lowering slightly but Jake continued before she could interrupt her again, “She’s already being pulled into this mess with the clans. What happens if Artsut, a woman with great influence within this clan, comes for her? What happens when we take another human mate that she doesn’t approve of? What then? It’ll be our fault that Reeds becomes ruined. It’ll be our fault for not being careful—”
“That is not for us to decide,” Neytiri told him bluntly but her face softened—only a bit. “Your heart comes from a good place but your words are misguided.” She gingerly grew closer to him until her hand could reach the curve of his cheek as she gently caressed it. “Make this right. Enough of this fighting. Can’t you see she’s tired?”
Mo’at, who had been crushing some herbs in a bowl, did not refute her daughter’s wise words.
Jake was outnumbered. But he was also tired too.
Tumblr media
You came back to Hell’s Gate to find a white sheet over your former body, right in the middle of a nearly empty room.
Cry. Just cry. Cry.
Instead, you stayed in that silent room. You did not look away from the body.
Half alive and half buried in the ground.
All you needed was a tombstone.
Tumblr media
boom! chapter 9! this one chapter i was definitely nervous to write because we see jake and reeds at, in my opinion, their worst in their slowly developing relationship and a peek at the beginning of tsu'tey and reeds' future relationship.

Sweet Little Secrets - Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite
@unadulterated-syd
Tumblr media
Neytiri (avatar 2009) × fem!Omaticaya!reader
Req: "thank you !! i was going to req for neytiri,, i love her so so much + hypothetically, fem! reader but they r in a secret relationship,, before Jake comes along !! N it's only secret because they don't know how well it would be supported considering neytiri was already set up with a mate yk??"
Warnings: fluffy but angsty if you squint, secret relationship, AU where plot doesn't happen or like just before the plot
Summary: yourself and neytiri have been together for as long as you've felt alive, and you aren't willing to put it at risk. —even if it means she could be forced to mate with another.—
Note: @unadulterated-syd I literally worship you and your requests. This was a great idea and like I cannot wait to have this done bc like 😍😍 ugh im finally writing for my wifey Neytiri
Tumblr media
It had started off as very little, simply fun that you would have on nights when Neytiri would be pestered about 'living up to her family' and 'being a loyal, respectful woman'. If only you knew how much more it would turn into.
What had once been an escape to have the rare feeling of truly living, had turned into a secret love. Secret. The thought giving you both thrill and longing.
She is the Olo'eyktans daughter. She has already been paired with someone. Tsu'tey. It disgusts you to even say his name. It isn't him, he is the same as all of the puff chested males in the clan, it's just; everyone thinks what is yours is his.
But you both know that telling anyone would risk the relationship, her respect, and even your place in the clan if her father is in a bad mood. So it stays secret. Your sweet little secret.
Meeting up in a certain spot on a bioluminescent tree by the river, sharing sweet nothings as you hold and love eachother as you wish you could around others. The small kisses that make your heart warm as you part ways when the sun rises. The occasional unique bead that would be found in each of your hair, always with one exclusive feature to make you think of eachother any time you pay attention to the strands.
But what comes with greatness must come a fault.
Seeing people refer to her as 'tsu'teys mate' or him as hers, whilst she sends a glance your way as if she ever even subtly shut down the name. The way he would caress her lower back when speaking in front of the clan, almost as a symbol of 'she's mine.' When you would be with her family, and her mother would start discussing when she would mate with him and begin doing her 'natural womanly duties.'
Luckily, the faults are buried under the memories of nights like these.
You're almost at the top, heading up the tree that would told neytiri you would be at by eclipse. You're almost there—until you almost fall and plummet to the ground for the purpose of your lovers entertainment.— "Boo!" Neytiri shouts from above, coming out of her hiding place on the upper of a thick branch. Your mind and body both shut down in shock for a half-second before you come back from your paralysis.
"Neytiri!" You hiss. "nga stum tspang oe!" (You almost kill(ed) me!) At this, she let's out an amused giggle and grabs your wrist to pull you up to her level.
"kaltxì." (hello.) She says before placing a soft kiss on the corner of your lips, pulling back with a mischievous grin. "Oh eywa, Neytiri. What are you going to do now?" Her grin widens. "za'u!" (Come!)
Before you know it she is climbing down the tree, jumping the remaining distance and dashing towards eywa knows what. You are quick to follow, not letting her catching you off guard cause you to lose her trail.
You dash around the forest in many different directions, not having a care in the world as you play silly games with the lover you cannot let be known. These are the moments you live for. These are the moments where you truly live at all. You would continue living for and like this if it meant it could keep happening.
After nearly running around the entire perimeter of the forest, you are met with an unbelievable sight. It is a small pond, but it has bioluminescent plants littered throughout the water and mossy rocks that hold animals you never thought you'd see up close.
She sends you a shushing signal, slowly and quietly creeping towards the small ecosystem in hopes of not scaring the animals away.
Finally being close enough to get a good look, you sigh in amazement. Everything is so peaceful. The animals are getting along, the little families huddling together to keep warm in the dark. There is no fighting, hatred, disappointment or envy here, just peace.
Your eyes land on a flattened rock only a few paces away, and you realize that it would be the perfect seating place for you and your lover. You silently step closer and closer, praying there aren't any sticks in your path.
Finally making it to the rock, Neytiri behind you you sit down and take in the view a second time. That's the thing with Neytiri, she always find the most amazing things and shows them to those who she knows would enjoy it.
"'Tiri- it's gorgeous!" You say, breaking the silence with your hushed voice. "That is why I have shown you."
You turn to her, seeing her freckles brighter than ever and her honey eyes reflecting the light of the plants. You subconsciously lean in, cupping her cheek and kissing her lips. It is a sweet, soft, affectionate kiss that she responds to immediately.
You find yourselves laying on the grass now, sharing last sweet kisses before drifting off in eachothers arms. You feel so at peace it feels as if you are with eywa already. Being in her arms makes your soul feel safe, safer than you ever feel otherwise.
You lay there together, tails and arms wrapped up, loving eachother even as you sleep. Not even caring who finds you when you wake.
Tumblr media
AHHHH this is probably one of my new fav works. Not for the quality of the writing bc it was a lil rushed n I gotta get that done for my pookie syd 😞. You're Cute, You know that?
Tumblr media
You're cute, You know that?
Neytiri x female!navi!Omatikaya!reader!
Warnings: honestly nothing but cuteness for this one. Just women loving women tehe :3
Summary: Y/n is telling Neytiri a story but Neytiri isn't paying attention at all as she's too busy thinking about what a cutie Y/n is.
Neytiri watched y/n as she bounced around the hut while telling Neytiri about a story. She didn't know what the story was about, she stopped paying attention around the part where y/n got up and began moving all over the place, reenacting her story.
"Neytiri? Earth to 'Tiri" You said waving your hand in front of your mate's face in which Neytiri blinked a few times before looking up at you. "Hmm? Yes darling" Neytiri says coming back down into reality and you look at her with a pout.
"Were you even paying attention?" Y/n asks in a childlike voice and Neytiri couldn't help but smile as she felt her heart melt. "Yes ma yawne I'm listening" She assures you and you smiled cheekily before giggling. You leaned down to give her a soft peck on the lips before standing back up straight.
"Okay so where was I? Oh! so then the....." You began to tell the story again but Neytiri zoned out again as she began to admired how adorable you are. The way you were animating the story as the different people, even doing different voices for each of them.
The way you were bouncing around with so much energy, spinning around with that beautiful smile of yours on your lips. She could feel her heart swell from the sheer amount of cuteness radiating off of you, and you didn't even know you were doing it.
"Babe? Babeeeeee" You said before walking over and shaking your mate by the shoulders. "Yes sweetness I'm listening" Neytiri said as she shook her head then looked up at you. "You're not listening to me, you keep zoning out" Y/n says pouting as you plopped down onto the ground in front of Neytiri.
"You're cute, You know that?" She says smiling as she grabs your hands and brings them up to her lips, giving them each a gentle kiss. "I'm w-what?" You stutter out feeling your cheeks get hot from how much you were blushing at that statement.
"I said, you're a cutie and you are cute" Neytiri repeats herself as she pulls you onto her lap, earning a giggle mixed with a squeal. "I am not a cutie nor am I cute" You argued crossing your arms across your chest before adding, "Plus you weren't listening to my story."
Neytiri lets out a giggle before wrapping her arms around you and giving you a gentle yet tight hug. "I was listening baby, I was just distracted by your cuteness is all" She assures you and you turned your head towards her and raise your eyebrows.
"Really? then what was it about?" You challenged her and Neytiri puts her hand to her face, making a contemplating look before turning her eyes towards yours. "I don't know, you'll have to remind me cuteness" She says smiling and you give her a small smack on her chest.
"I'm not cute" You tell her pretending to be mad but couldn't help but smile. "Yea okay sweetheart" She says playfully rolling her eyes as she tackled you down to the ground, earning a gasp from you as you both laid on the ground in each others arms.

Tumblr media
Jake reached over and felt the absence of his wife laying next to him. He opened his eyes and sat up, trying to make out her figure in the night. She was at the other end of their home. “Neytiri?” He called to her.
When she didn’t respond, he began to walk over to her. She was hunched over, and over her shoulder he could see a bucket in her hands. He placed a hand gently on her back. “Hey, you okay?”
She looked up at him with a pained look and shook her head. He bent down and placed his hand to her cheek.
“What’s wrong, you feeling sick?”
She nodded. “I woke up because I felt pain in my stomach. Ive thrown up twice already.”
“Aw baby, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. You should’ve woken me up.”
“I wanted you to sleep, I know you’ve been really tired lately.”
“Nah if you’re not sleeping soundly next to me, then fuck that.”
Neytiri managed a smile at his vulgar language.
“Did you eat something bad?”
“Not that I know of.”
“Hm, maybe you have a stomach flu or something.”
Jake barely finished his sentence before she hunched over the bucket once more and proceeded to throw up a third time.
Jake quickly scooped up all of her hair in one hand and rubbed her back with the other. They stayed this way for quite some time, until it seemed like the vomiting had ceased. He eventually put the bucket aside and got up to retrieve something. He returned with a water jug in his hands.
“Here, have some water. You’re probably really dehydrated.”
Neytiri gargled a mouthful of water and spit it out. Then she lifted the canister to drink the rest of the water.
“Don’t drink too much too fast. Only small sips every now and then” he warned her.
She sipped a little and passed the canister back to Jake. “I really hope that doesn’t come back up.”
He let out a little laugh. “Lets sit here for a while and hope for the best.”
He opened his arms wide, she crawled into his lap and leaned back on his chest. He wrapped his arms around her from behind, his chin resting gently on the top of her head.
Neytiri groaned and hid her face in her hands.
“What? You gunna be sick again?” He asked with concern.
“No, I just hate that you have to see me like this.”
Jake looked down at her in awe. It baffled him that she could still be so shy and embarrassed when she was nothing short of amazing in every aspect. He thought it was adorable. He removed one of her hands from her face and interlocked their fingers. “In sickness and in health, right?”
“Hm?” She asked while looking up at him, a little confused.
“Oh, its one of the vows people say when they get married.”
“Ahhh, I understand. As my husband, it is your duty to watch me vomit.”
Jake chuckled. “Pretty much.”
He felt like he’d known Neytiri for his whole life, so he often forgot that she was from a different world. Often times, it would be silly little things like this… a phrase or a food. But other times, he would think about the fact that theres an entire part of his existence that she would never truly know. ‘But that part of me is dead now,’ he would think.
Jake felt Neytiri tremble in his arms, so he rubbed his hands up and down her skin to create some heat. “You’re shivering.”
“I’m really cold” she said as she leaned more into his hold. “Thank you for keeping me so warm.”
“You’re burning up,” Jake said as he placed the back of his hand gently on her forehead. “I think you have a fever, baby… you definitely have the stomach flu.”
“Ugh, how long will this last? I’m so tired,” she said with a yawn.
“1 to 2 days, max.”
“Okay, could be worse. But my duties…”
“I will take care of your duties.”
Neytiri opened her mouth to protest but Jake spoke before she could. “End of story. Don’t worry about anything until you’re better.” He got up to dip a cloth in some cool water. He rung it out and folded it up thinly before placing it on her forehead. “Hopefully this will be okay until morning.”
“You’re very familiar with this illness.”
“Well yeah, I mean we would get sick all the time as kids.”
“You and your brother.”
“Mhm. Tommy and I would take care of each other…because we were all we had.”
Neytiri placed a hand to his cheek, wanting to let him know that she was there for him. She always felt empathetic and sad when he talked about his brother. She knew so much loss, but so did he. At least now, they had each other.
Jake put his hand over hers and locked eyes with her. When they looked at each other, they had a shared understanding. He knew he had her heart. “You should get some rest for now, lets go to bed.”
Jake lifted her up and carried her over to where they slept. She looked up at him in adoration. “Yawne,” she said to him softly. He smiled warmly back at her. After placing her down, he got into bed next to her and opened his arms. “Alright, come get this hot body.”
She smiled and settled into his chest, feeling his heartbeat against her ear. ‘So this is to be loved by him,’ she thought to herself. She surrendered to him and let herself be taken care of, something she was not accustomed to. Heat filled her body, fatigue washing over her. She let her eyelids drift down, now surrendering to the sleep. “Goodnight, my beloved. Thank you for taking such good care of me.” She told him with her eyes still closed.
“Sleep well, my love” he replied. He played with her hair until he felt her breathing slow… fast asleep.
——————————————————————————————
Neytiri opened her eyes to Jake looking down at her. She had slept in his arms all night. She smiled lightly… grateful that he was always there when she woke up.
“You’re finally awake.”
“Hm? How long was I asleep?”
“About 12 hours.”
Neytiri’s eyes widened as she heard this. “What?!”
“Yeah, you were knocked out… which is a good thing. You need rest. How you feeling?” He asked while caressing her cheek.
“My stomach is still upset, but I do feel better than yesterday.”
“Thats good, you think you might be able to have some food? Just something small.”
“I dont really have an appetite but I think I feel well enough to eat.”
“I got you some banana fruit, it should be easy on your stomach.”
“When did you have time to get that?”
Jake peeled the banana and handed it to her. “A few hours ago. I got up and left you here sleeping. You didnt even stir. I came back and you were in the same position I left you in.”
Neytiri nibbled on the fruit as he spoke. She couldn’t believe that she slept that long.
“Oh, and I went and got this from your mom.” He grabbed a small bottle from his pouch. “You have to drink it twice a day to keep your fever down.”
Neytiri thought about how much he had done to care for her, and she was so thankful. “You are a gift sent to me.”
“Uh oh, I think this illness is worsening. You’re talking crazy,” he joked.
But Neytiri was serious. “Believe me when I say this, please.”
Jake sighed. It was always difficult for Jake to hear such kind words from Neytiri. He was forever filled with guilt over what he’d done. But he knew he needed to stop feeling sorry for himself, so he can be a better person for her. “I’ll try.”
This was enough for her to hear for now.
“You feel a little hot right now, so drink up.”
“Yes sir.”
Jake held the bottle up to her lips carefully until she had drank one dose. She grimaced immediately after. “That taste is absolutely horrid. If my mother was not Tsahik, I would have thought it was poison.”
“The strongest warrior I know gets defeated by bad tasting medicine. Thats an interesting concept.”
“Listen Toruk Makto… we all have our weaknesses.”
“You are mine.” He pulled her into a tight hug, not wanting to let go.
