What is China New Virus?
China is again struck with a new, alarming virus that attacks the lungs and respiratory tract in children. The outbreak in the country has been going on since May, and now, the country's medical service faces thousands of patients daily.
The severe respiratory disease attacks respiratory organs, causing secondary symptoms associated with pneumonia. In addition to this, body pain and breathing difficulty are reported in children. Schools have been shut down, and people are requested to follow the WHO Guidelines.
In this blog post, we will discuss what is the China New Virus and how you can take preventive precautions.
What is China New Virus?
China is currently facing a new virus causing respiratory abnormalities, including Pneumonia. However, you can rest assured that researchers have not reported any new pathogens related to the illness. Unlike COVID-19, which was caused by the coronavirus, the new respiratory infection results from pathogens such as influenza virus, adenoviruses, and RSV.
Chinese healthcare professionals expected the outbreak long ago. This was mainly an estimation of the country’s first winter season without COVID restrictions. However, epidemiologists believe that the prevalence of pneumonia in China is highly unusual.
What Does Chinese Health Care Say?
The National Health Commission of China reported the first “Pneumonia Outbreak” case on November 13, 2023. Since then, there has been a sudden hike in children's hospitalization cases. This week, the situation became even more intense and gained the attention of the World Health Organization. Concerning the large number of abnormal pneumonia cases in China, the organisation asked for current reports. A Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases (ProMED) statement on undiagnosed pneumonia cases in children is requested from the China Health Department.
According to the latest reports, the virus originated in northern China and then spread Nationwide. Most of the severe pneumonia cases are recorded in Beijing, the country’s capital, Beijing. However, the viral outbreak has reached northeastern Liaoning province and other areas in China.
China New Virsus: Current Reports
This week, WHO issued a report, “According to China’s health department, known pathogens, such as influenza virus, adenoviruses, and RSV, cause the pneumonia outbreak”. It is associated with mild symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing, and coughing.
However, the most severe cases are associated with “Mycoplasma pneumoniae”, a bacterial virus causing lethal pneumonia. The bacterium infects the mucus lining of the lungs and causes difficulty breathing. Oftentimes, it is called ‘walking pneumonia’. The symptoms usually last for a few days and cause mild discomfort.
Benjamin Cowling, an epidemiologist at the University of Hong Kong, said that the surge of illness was not“shocking”. “This is a typical ‘winter surge’ in acute respiratory infections,”. It is happening slightly earlier this year, perhaps because of increased population susceptibility to respiratory infections resulting from three years of COVID measures.” He added.
Symptoms Of The Virus
The Chinese healthcare professionals said that “Years of isolation have weakened the immune system”. Children in growth years and under-development are more prone to the virus. Though, it is causing only mild pneumonia-like symptoms, proper sanitation and preventive measures are necessary.
Given that, here are some symptoms associated with China New Virus.
Fever
Lung inflammation without a cough
Pulmonary nodules, lumps on the lungs
Difficulty breathing
Lethargy
Chest Pain
India’s Response To The New Virus
If you are wondering, How is India Preparing for China New Virus? Let me tell you the country has “no-reported” cases yet. However, it is alarming and requires proper sanitization for prevention. States such as Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand are following proper COVID guidelines and imposing restrictions on travel to China.
Conclusion
The “China New Virus” is causing respiratory illness in children nationwide. Known pathogens such as influenza virus, adenoviruses, and RSV are also responsible for causing the surge of hospitalization cases in China. While the disease is caused by “Mycoplasmic Pneumonea”, other viruses are also attacking children due to poor immunity.

NOT AGAIN!? NOT AGAIN!! The WHO asks China about pneumonia case spike
Chinese officials say they did not detect any “unusual or novel diseases” in the country, the World Health Organization said Thursday, following an official request by the U.N. health agency for information about a potentially worrying spike in respiratory illnesses and clusters of pneumonia in children.
WHO cited unspecified media reports and a global infectious disease monitoring service as reporting clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia in children in northern China and formally requested more details from China earlier this week. Associated Press

An alert was issued through ProMed – a large surveillance database which monitors disease outbreaks– warning of an epidemic of “undiagnosed pneumonia” in children.

Taiwanese news website FTV News said that children were presenting to hospitals in Beijing and Liaoning – 500 miles northeast – with symptoms including a high fever and inflammation of the lungs, but no cough.
A Beijing citizen told the outlet: “Many, many (children) are hospitalised. They don’t cough and have no symptoms. They just have a high temperature and many develop pulmonary nodules.”

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to 2024!! I didnt prepare anything special jdjdjs so have this doodle of me with my fandoms in 2023
I know its super late but id still like to say somethings. Feel free to ignore whatevers down here sobs im mostly just reflecting on my year.
I wanna admit that this year hasnt been my best, be it artwise or stuff irl. I think i remember in the beginning of 2023 i was losing interest in the hk fandom before this and lost the will to really make art. But when i moved to tumblr and the rw fandom i was able to find the will and joy in drawing again. Its really is nice to be a part of a more interactive and alive community compared to whatever the hell is going on in instagram. Met alot of cool friends and people i look up to along the way, even if i am too much of a pussy to express that jdjdjjdjd but its nice to be here.
It helps especially when my college life hasnt been going well. I have issues with making or keeping friends especially when the first 2 years of college was spent online so i didnt really get to know people face to face. It didnt help also when approaching the end of my college year, all thats left is all my final papers that didnt require me to actually BE in college most of the week. It really impacted my will to really do art or college and i almost had to hold back my graduation because of it.
Right now i am in a better state, stuff has been dealt with and i am slowly gaining the will and joy to create. Because art is a major source of happiness for me and being able to actually be happy to draw things again will help immensely with my psyche when finishing college.
My new year resolution ig is i just want to be able to finish what i started. Be it college or art, i want to not procrasinate on things, not be late on stuff i wanna make art for, personally set goals for college, things like that. I would like to also take in easy on myself, i want to stop hating what i create, hating myself, saying i dont belong anywhere or worth anything, i dont want to give up before i even start, i want to be proud of what i do even for something as small as random doodles on tumblr.
Whoever read this far. Thank you. I hope you are in a better state than i am. Happy new year
