Daniel, Armand, and Keats???

Ok so the incredibly grainy footage of the new teaser has me spiraling! Devils minion on screen! But even more exciting, is Armand describing himself as “easeful death”, presumably to Daniel. Ok Rolin Jones, listen up. I don’t know a ton of literature by heart by I WAS a depressed and then chronically ill teen and early twenties person, who identified maybe a little too hard with romantic poet John Keats. Some of his poems are permanently tattooed on my brain. So I see what the writers are doing here. “easeful death” is from Ode to a Nightingale. The full line is: “Darkling I listen; and, for many a time/I have been half in love with easeful Death”. I mean. Come on.

I reread the poem after watching the trailer last night, and it’s actually SUCH a clever reference. It could practically be written by Daniel about Armand. We already know the writers room is familiar with and willing to reference other classic poets (Emily Dickinson absolutely is a vampire) so I think this is 100% intentional.

The narrator of the poem is tired of the difficulties of life and is longing for death; he speaks to the nightingale as a kind of immortal figure who is free from all cares. He is able to momentarily accompany the nightingale, at least mentally, as it flies and forget all troubles, but must come back to earth by the end of the poem. It’s pretty easy to read this as Daniel talking about Armand.

In fact, the first thing the speaker longs for is not death or the nightingale, but wine to take his mental pain away.

O, for a draught of vintage! that hath been

         Cool'd a long age in the deep-delved earth,

Tasting of Flora and the country green,

         Dance, and Provençal song, and sunburnt mirth!

O for a beaker full of the warm South,

         Full of the true, the blushful Hippocrene,

                With beaded bubbles winking at the brim,

                        And purple-stained mouth;

         That I might drink, and leave the world unseen

And we know that Daniel was numbing himself with drugs when he first met Louis and Armand. In fact the voiceover in the trailer almost feels like a pitch to Daniel; Armand is saying “I’m better than the best drug you’ve ever had”, effectively.

The speaker is determined to forget what the lucky nightingale (or Armand) “hast never known”:

The weariness, the fever, and the fret

         Here, where men sit and hear each other groan;

Where palsy shakes a few, sad, last gray hairs,

         Where youth grows pale, and spectre-thin, and dies;

                Where but to think is to be full of sorrow

The nightingale doesn’t know about the trials of living and aging, just like Armand. The speaker wants to forget about the inevitable “palsy shakes” that arrive with age. which could easily be a reference to what we now diagnose as Parkinson’s Disease.

At this point in the poem, the speaker tells the nightingale that he will join him in forgetting life not with the help of “Bacchus and his pards” (wine) but with “posey” (poetry). Which makes me think of Daniel using his writing to get closer to the vampires.

The fact that the speaker calls the nightingale “Darkling”! I mean what a perfect name for Armand. In fact I think this whole section is just perfectly about a vampire if you want it to be:

Darkling I listen; and, for many a time

         I have been half in love with easeful Death,

Call'd him soft names in many a mused rhyme,

         To take into the air my quiet breath;

                Now more than ever seems it rich to die,

         To cease upon the midnight with no pain,

                While thou art pouring forth thy soul abroad

                        In such an ecstasy!

         Still wouldst thou sing, and I have ears in vain—

                   To thy high requiem become a sod.

Thou wast not born for death, immortal Bird!

         No hungry generations tread thee down;

The voice I hear this passing night was heard

         In ancient days by emperor and clown

Armand was not born for death; he’s seen many an emperor and clown and in fact been both (leader of the coven, pretending to be Rashid). There’s also an emphasis on the nightingale’s song. I don’t know if Armand will be a musician at all in the show, but he and the coven are definitely performers.

In the last stanza, the speaker comes back to himself. He knows that he does not get to escape the burden of life for the ease of death, or at least not yet. It makes me wonder if Daniel will eventually turn down the gift at some point in the devils minion timeline. We know that he rejects Louis' mocking offer to give him the gift in the Dubai timeline.

Forlorn! the very word is like a bell

         To toll me back from thee to my sole self!

Adieu! the fancy cannot cheat so well

         As she is fam'd to do, deceiving elf.

Adieu! adieu! thy plaintive anthem fades

         Past the near meadows, over the still stream,

                Up the hill-side; and now 'tis buried deep

                        In the next valley-glades:

         Was it a vision, or a waking dream?

                Fled is that music:—Do I wake or sleep?

The last line and the confusion about whether the time spent with the nightingale is a dream or not makes me think of Daniel waking up from the dream of Polynesian Mary’s.

In summary, Rolin Jones what the fuckkkkk. I’m so so excited about this season and all the Armand/Daniel content we’re about to get.

TY Gina! Your whole explanation about the pitting the boys’ solo careers against each other was so helpful. I’m curious what you meant when you said “and then there was a whole faction of people who flipped out over Harry’s lyrics and image not meeting their expectations.” I wasn’t a Harry fan then. Why did fans not like HS1?

Hi sweetheart. Hm. It’s kind of a difficult question to answer because it was really layered and everyone had their own reasons. But my memory of it was that starting at some point in 2015 people thought Irving Azoff was going to sign the band as a whole, and “save” them from Sony. So there was a lot of anger and disappointment when it became clear that it was only Harry the Azoffs were interested in.

Then you have to also factor in that babygate was in full swing in 2016, and we had Louis with his new beard (Danielle), so he was being photographed constantly and he looked exhausted and miserable more often than not. Meanwhile what we were seeing from H was yachting with Kendall and filming Dunkirk. So there was growing resentment about Harry’s perceived life vs Louis’ perceived life. Then Jay died and we learned she’d been sick most of the year while Louis was having to be in the US constantly papped with Danielle and Freddie. And then Louis performed JHO on X Factor and did the promo for it with Steve Aoki (which made it very clear that the only promo that was happening was due to Steve’s team and not Syco/SJPR). Then the teaser for HS1 dropped and it was clear where Sony’s interest lay — Harry was everywhere and every piece of media hailed him as the second coming of Bowie and Jagger. In addition, we got a big het Harry push where the album was linked to Kendall, T*ylor, and Townes. I say all of this to try and give you an idea of where people were at when the album dropped. There was so much anger about what was happening to Louis, and many who thought they’d broken up transferred their frustration into being angry at Harry.

Then the lyrics dropped and some people got very upset at songs like Only Angel (for being “misogynistic”, Carolina (for being a stunt song linked to Townes), and Kiwi (especially the line about “hard candy dripping on me till my feet are wet” After which someone started a rumor about Harry writing a song about underage girls).

So, yeah. It wasn’t that fans didn’t like HS1. But the split between larries, harries, and louies was getting wider. And those who didn’t decided that they no longer liked Harry generally seemed to have had a preconceived notion of how his solo rollout would go and what his solo music would be, and the reality didn’t match what they wanted.

Again, sorry this is long. It’s really hard to sum this sort of thing up, and this only scratches the surface, but I hope this helps a bit.

Monday Snippet

Surprise, bitches. Bet you thought you’d seen the last of me. 

I actually managed to bang out a couple new pages of Arise, Fair Sun over the weekend, so I thought I would share some. We’re still at the salsa club...

The beat drops and Louis starts them off, immediately setting a breathless and unrelenting pace. The tempo is much faster than the previous song, their feet and hips moving twice the speed they were before. It’s thrilling, really. Harry doesn’t have time to think about the steps, he just does them, the world shrinking down to just him and Louis and the music. He focuses on the feeling of Louis’ hand in his, his palm warm and slightly sweaty but his grip steady and sure. The pulse of the bongos and the brassy horns and the joyous peal of the keyboard. The soft, pebbly texture of Louis’ polo and the way he can feel Louis’ shoulder muscles working underneath it. The way Louis’ hair messily falls across his forehead and the faintest hint of a dimple created by his smile. The pressure of Louis’ hand on his hip guiding his steps. The rush of adrenaline that courses through his veins as Louis whirls him around over and over again. Harry’s aware of every breath he takes, of the beads of sweat rolling down his neck, of the way his heart is thudding in his chest. 

He feels so alive, more alive than he’s felt in a long time. 

As the song continues, Harry starts glancing at other couples on the dance floor, not out of insecurity but out of wanting inspiration for different moves or tricks he and Louis could try. He looks over Louis’ shoulder and watches in fascination as a girl drops into a crouch, one foot tucked up under her butt as her partner spins her around at a furious pace, his arm whipping her around like he’s using a whisk. 

It looks so fucking fun. 

“Hey,” Harry says, jutting his chin towards the couple. “Do you think we could try that?” 

“Try what?” Louis asks, pivoting them around without missing a beat so he can see where Harry’s looking. 

“That,” Harry says, nodding towards the couple again. The woman stops her momentum by dropping her free leg down, using it like a brake as her partner grabs her under her arms, hefting her back up to her full height. “I wanna try that.” 

“Pot stirrers? I don’t know, those are pretty tough.”

“Please,” Harry scoffs. “I can do thirty-two fouettés. En pointe. I think I can handle it.” 

Louis doesn’t respond, he just presses his lips together in a poor attempt to hide his fond smile. 

“What?” 

“Nothing,” Louis answers, his eyes roving all over Harry’s face. “I just…I like seeing you this way.” 

“What way is that?” 

“It’s the way you looked on that first day of rehearsal when you beat me in that seconde challenge,” Louis says, his smile finally breaking through. “Like the boy who drove me crazy when we were in school.” 

Harry feels his face flush, the knowledge of how Louis actually felt about him back then giving that statement completely new context. They look at each other for what feels like ages, the air between them charged, time standing still even as their feet keep moving. 

“Y’know, if you don’t think you’re up for trying the pot stirrers, just say so,” Harry challenges, baiting him to diffuse the tension. “The song will be over soon.”

- i was thinking what scene it might be, and figured it's probably in the tunnel of love. i suspect the statue is aphrodite and since she is holding a shield with a hog's head on it i assume it belongs to ares + there are painting on the walls we see in one of the next scenes

- annabeth hugging percy makes me too emotional help

- that's the scene i mentioned above. they are most certainly jumping out of the boat in the tunnel

- i'm veeery excited to see the st louis arch scenes, they look promising in this and the previous teaser!

every snippet we get, i get more and more excited, damn. what i fear is that these dumb assholes in d*sney won't agree to pay the writers and actors what they rightfully deserve, which will result in a total lack of promotion from the cast. i need that! the main actors do too! i want to see them happy, proud and excited to share with us what they worked so hard on! so, folks, remember to support WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike!

Geez,I so agree with this. Honestly this entire LATAM promo run has just left me totally blah. The vapid quick-fire 10 minute radio style promo Q and A, no new ground covered ever. Bringing up Liam of all the people he wants write with? The 1D reunion teasers. Talking about bringing AFHF to every single country he’s visiting. It all just feels like one huge pander. I honestly don’t know if he’s excited about new music or not. I know he’s still touring, but he’s had breaks. If he’s writing new music great, but give fans an idea of what’s ahead. Everything is so backward looking.

At least after Mexico he stopped saying 1D songs were his favorite. I about lost my marbles reading that. There is a way to honor the past without getting stuck there, but he hasn’t figured that out it seems.

Anyway……still looking forward to seeing lives of his shows and all that. Hoping for interesting days ahead, but I guess we will see.

I love that he shows up in person and meets the fans in person. I don’t think normal artists who play stadiums do that, at least not for free.

Louis’ humility has always set him apart. Besides, he’s so damn attractive.

When solo Louies are critical of Louis’ dwelling on 1D, mostly we’re well-intentioned (I feel like you are too). We want his audience and fanbase to grow and mature.

Artists can only go forward or backward; they don’t stay still. So looking over his shoulders all the time means Louis is always holding something back; it means he’s too insecure and doesn’t believe in the solo music enough to move forward. That gets inflamed by the fans singing only 1D songs at his shows. He can never move beyond a musical age of late teens/ early twenties at this rate. Even Taylor Swift and Lorde have moved on— even Olivia Rodrigo will someday move on.

I know this Latam promo run is to sell Latam tickets, so it is what it is. But we haven’t seen Louis speak in such a long time. I’ll take whatever I can get!

# he's not some straight/bi-curious dude who says he's “unlabeled” bc he doesn't want to admit he's straight Add to this tag, newest fans (those who are there since the 1D hiatus/start of his solo career) forget or they don´t even know that he was head over heels for one specific boy/man since he was 16 and that´s like really telling he´s not just straight/bi-curious dude when you are in the whole ass same-sex relationship for years. We can´t tell how they relationship looks like these days because there´s zero evidence and interaction but I believe they are it for each other and gone through so much that they won´t just simply call it quick. And yes, we can see how much comfortable H is around literally any men, that´s also like not a behaviour of someone who´s confused/curious about his sexuality but he´s rather well-aware what/who makes him feel good to be around. So even if HL are not together anymore, they are still gays who will go into same-sex relationship. Or do you think one/both of them will end up with woman to have a wannabe normal family life?

If they ever break up, I will always be here to love and support them, and they will always be a huge, huge part of queer history—especially queer music history.

I have thought about the "wannabe normal family" situation before in regards to babygate. I've wondered whether Louis decided to have a real child in order to become a single parent purposefully and to give his mother a grandchild before she passed, since he knew she had cancer a whole year before he "got Briana pregnant." I've had discussions with someone in the fandom who claims to be involved in tour life, and she told me that it's not uncommon for gay men on tour to have sex with women out of desperation. It's not at all difficult to believe that F is Louis's kid and that Louis wanted a child.

The problem comes in when you look at the ways that they've shaded it. Harry putting a balloon under his shirt while singing "Little White Lies" before the news dropped, the "it's not real" baby doll toss, the Dirty Dancing tweet from Louis two days before the news dropped, "Preaching to the convinced", Harry's Jack Nicholson instagram post, the Billie Jean shirt in a teaser for a music video in which Louis also wore a "Tomorrow" shirt (and the music video dropped the next day), the song Kiwi...

There was also a lesser known thing that I saw where Louis had a puzzle on the FITF website that showed different locations on a map, all of them referencing Larry in some way (like daggers and roses, princess park, etc.), and then one of them was a paternity test clinic? If someone has more information on this, please let me know because this was from around the time when I was still taking a long break from the fandom.

Anyway, marriages can fizzle or burn out no matter how long you've been together. So many people get divorces even 20, 30, or 40 years into their marriage. If Louis and Harry last, good for them. If they don't, they'll always cherish their time together I'm sure. I'm not worried about them breaking up because it's not my life. Their relationship will always be important to queer history, to us, and, in a way I assume, to them.

#3 It's been Busy Times for BTS during the last Year - j-hope

J-Hope will be starting his military obligations any day now. As you see here, he's already cropped off those beautiful wavy tresses. He was visiting JK April 4th, with Tae and showed off his new look on Weverse!

During the last year, he's been quite busy with various projects and provided us with a lot of content to keep OT7 busy thinking of him once he's enlisted.

July 15th,2022 he released His second Album Jack In The Box, the first of the OT7 to stand up to their promise to publish some of the projects they've been resting on the shelf for that opportune moment!

Currently, on this album, More, Arson, and = Equal Signs are the most listened-to tracks on Spotify.

I really respect how strong his statement is in =Equal Signs and wish everyone felt that way!

He presently has just over 8.4 million subscribers on Spotify.

Arson ranked 96th the first week on Billboards Hot 100, and ranked at No. 17 on Billboard 200 under the Top Album category.

He performed his tracks at the 2022 Lollapalooza event with great success. His stage presence was powerful and while he might have been nervous performing on his own, you sure couldn't tell.

February 2023, J-Hope became Louis Vuitton's House Ambassador, and we were gifted with some beautiful shots. These were just teasers and should have prepared us for the months ahead, but really didn't.

August 2022 J-Hope was featured in W Korea's Magazine. Showing a MUCH more mature...sophisticated vision than we've seen before, which just proves our Bangtan Boys are youthful in spirit but are truly men now! He sure suits frosted tips doesn't he?

Okay you've just enabled me to go the fuck off about my own playlists.

I had to dig to find what you meant because my spotify library is getting a little insane but yesyesyse I thought you meant the songs louis hasn't recommended yet playlist (post), but The Pretender is in the teardrop and sabotage playlist (post), my lil larrie rage playlist I turn to when shits happening that makes my blood boil.

Ok but for the going the fuck off bit: HE'S RECCED SO MANY OF THIS STUFF SINCE. I love channeling Louis oh my god I'm so excited about this you have no idea (well you probably have a good idea because I keep yellin asdsf). So I was like ok I want a playlist in the likes of Louis' 28 songs and make something I think he'd make, right? So I made this just before his tour started:

Sidetrack: Also the DJ at AFH played Common People after Louis' set, which I'm choosing to take as a teaser from Louis himself there. Just throw that out where everyone can hear but nobody knows they should be listening. Perfect. Anyway so post-show it was like: We Are The Champions, followed by the DJ playing I Kissed A Girl x What You Know mashup and then Common People. SIDETRACK: As for that [the DJ playing music], I made a playlist of all songs I picked up in between bands here, which looks like they did get a playlist from louis but also put their own stuff in there, like there's loads coming from his Tour Bus Playlist but also a lot of Spanish songs were played I did not add to the playlist because I didn't know them them. So yeah a mix.

A lot of songs I picked because I know it's artists he listens to, so it's kinda cheating (like it starts off with The Snuts - Glasgow; he basically did rec that one but I mean I just want that song specifically yk), but then The Hives - Tick Tick Boom I plucked out of my own ass and now he's got Hate To Say I Told You So on his tour bus playlist and is playing it pre-show the last 2 shows and I'm just asjkljkslakj yes yes.

Then I had put in Radiohead twice (Lotus Flower, Karma Police), not based on much other than I think it's good and I think he'd think it's good, but all the public rec he had out there so far was just Creep which like doesn't really mean he likes Radiohead... I mean anyone would put Creep in their playlist without specifically listening to Radiohead beyond that, but since he's added Exit Music (For A Film) which has been on my H+L playlist for even longer because of REASONS ok, and Just. So that's some thumbs up there. Similar things with RHCP, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, and The Killers but then again. who doesn't. who wouldn't. us early 90s babies we do this shit to our playlists lol next.

Also the Van Morrison - Crazy Love is a funny one, because I put it on there as there's something about Golden that reminds me of Moondance (the album), so I got this other 28369th playlist somewhere I put "influences" besides songs and there's Golden paired with Crazy Love and Moondance, and that was kinda the thought process behind adding it to this rec list? Because I think this is something he tends to do: add songs that are influences behind 1d songs, his own, but also harry's. Because I mean the influences are songs they love and play it makes sense right right. We're just going in circles there. But point is not Crazy Love but Moondance appeared on the Change Over playlist, coolcoolcool.

And then for the Teardrop and sabotage playlist (again find it here and read the description of it before listening lol), which is a lil less BALRARHAHRGH response because it's got a bunch more like 64 songs on there and it wasn't meant like oh im only gonna pick songs he has never shown to like or anything, it's more like a sweet spot between a few songs they've shown to like in some way that fit the theme, some songs they haven't yet but totally would, and a few that I just like (like I'm not expecting a Slipknot rec out there anytime soon although it would be welcomed; I'm very hyped about the Rage Against The Machine and harder Nirvana ones), anyway here are the songs he's put on the Tour Bus Playlist the other day that were also on my larrie anger playlist:

.....that's enough of the LOOK WHAT I GOT RIGHT kinda whatever behavior this is and now for some thoughts, I think it's very interesting the Change Over playlist is very different from the new Tour Bus Playlist and like I've said before it looks to me like the tour bus one is teasing the sound of FITF, while the Change Over is made out of possible feel good singalongs post-show. Although it's interesting he's said in interviews DMAs was a big influence and that one's not on the list. I'm gonna look back on this playlist once FITF is out and see if theres suddenly patterns falling into place like an anagram solving itself lol because it really looks like it's chunks of songs (like 2-7 songs at a time) that sound similar, possibly corresponding to each song on FITF. That also means songs I put on my larrie fuck the system stop it to the ground anger list and songs I think he'd love to recommend are indeed the sounds he's going for on his album which, I can't even tell you how excited that makes me.

Ikr! that unknown Stardust biopic that features ZERO Bowie songs. i mean literally nobody heard of it. i personally only heard of it recently in the light of the new documentary.

I saw some stuff about it here and there and i think that actor who played Bowie carries off his clothes & delicate mannerisms plausibly enough but it was still an obvious miscast. Like the whole film is a nice idea but unfortunately hampered greatly by circumstance and execution. Like even if we could hear the classics, it wouldn’t smooth over its endless flaws..

meanwhile the Moonage Daydream Documentary ✨ with its arresting never seen before archival footage in 16mm & 35mm prints. It seems like it knows no bounds as a visual feast and I'm HERE for it and can't wait for us to see it!! I mean documenting the life of an out-of-this-world enigma like Bowie could only be done in one way and its simply a film guided by Bowie’s own narration. (I just read that Moonage is the first officially sanctioned film on him. wow)

(ok gotta say it, in my head I'm sometimes in a corner of wishful thinking screaming-crying about a biopic featuring Louis as David. Like no need to mention the individual similarities, from physical resemblance and happenstance of having same astrology placements! to career, nationality, mick jagger etc etc, likeeee iykyk)

Dude there is so much cool music being released rn like I have been listening to Prelude to Ecstasy by The Last Dinner Party a lot: Their aesthetic was very intriguing and turns out their music slaps as well! Both Dylan and Louis Tomlinson followed them so I was like “oh they have to slay” and they do, can only recommend
