So I have to tell you guys, despite constantly sharing travel content, for some reason beauty brands love reaching out to me. 😂

And interestingly enough, I tend to have folks comment on my skin and hair regimen, even in travel.

I’m a minimalist at best, and really only use 3 or 4 products for my hair and skin - which surprises people too, especially when I tell them which products I use topically.

.

But even for myself, I’m always surprised when people ask about my skin for instance, because believe it or not I used to have horrible, acne-prone skin and dark spots. I’ve since gotten that under control, but now I mainly deal with eczema and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. These are probably two of the most common skin-related issues faced by people of color.

.

When it comes to hair, I’ve always had long hair. But if you’ve followed me long enough, you’ll know I was always protective styling my own hair with natural twists. It was a drastic change when I decided to big chop over a year ago - one in which I’ve embraced since.

.

I have to say, travel has had a great impact on my skin and hair, for the good and the bad. At this point, I kind of just accept it for what it is.

So I guess I’m just curious to ask,

TolumiDE's 'Naturally Me' Is Fusing Heritage and Modernity" This is the latest release from TolumiDE, a soulful Afropop artist whose blood runs half-Nigerian and half-Canadian. Naturally Me! It's an inspiring song that promotes natural hair along with different styles of hair cut or style (except bleached hazelnut). TolumiDE's equally energetic vocals, switching back and forth from English to Yoruba fit the positive, intense musicality of this song. #naturallyme sooooooo I’ve been thinking on my last post I said I’m cutting social media(6 months), weed & alcohol (no time limit on those but, I’m not a drinker anyways) but, I think I’m going to take it a step further… I’m going to be socially distancing myself from people and individuals who I actually consider my friends hell my boyfriend too (which I already told him he’s not a fan of this idea but, when I broke it down for him he tried to understand 😂) I just feel like some people take my communication and availability for granted so I’m not saying I’m not talking to them of course they can reach out to me I’ll be there but, as far as me reaching out to them I will not be doing that. I’m here to invest and listen to other people’s problems but, when it’s me the attention span gets non existent lol so I’m done I’ll just deal with myself and whoever notices good for them if you don’t I guess this the beginning of us never talking again lmaooo at this point idc 🖕🏾😂

Just wanted to say thank you to you guys and mention how much I love y’all! 🥰❤️ ………………. I wish I had words to describe the chaos I’ve been going through the past few months. With my postdoctoral fellowship coming to an end, I’ve been on a hunt to land one of the most coveted positions in the pharmaceutical industry. I’ve faced some pretty bad imposter syndrome - and I am not one to usually let it consume me. This time though, it hit different. However, I’m grateful for my mentors in this industry, family, and friends, who have held me up the past few months, when I would break down. Not to mention, you guys ❤️ and just social media in general. I’ve barely been able to stay afloat on IG lately, but banking on finding my balance soon. However, I’ve felt consumed with love in this space at a time where, professionally, it’s been anything but that. You might think that, as a girl, I wouldn’t face as much discrimination for my hair as an older women in the workforce. I, as well as many other young girls, have faced intolerance just for our hair. Many school actually have rules in their dress codes that specifically target widely known African-American hairstyles. Nittle explained, “Little is the latest piece of entertainment to feature a black girl with natural hair, and the trailer presents the look, which still faces bans in schools and workplaces, as something totally unworthy of comment.” Marsai Martin is one of youngest directors ever and she has faced discrimination just for her hairstyles and big afros. Her debut movie is supposed to encourage younger girls to embrace their natural hair. This movie can be one of the things going against society and trying to make an environment where young girls are all right with their natural hair.

🛀🏽 A little late night post: My “Un-styled” hair & no makeup look. 🥇. My hair is going through some changes, and you might be able to see them in these photos. I added my Rejuveniqe Intensive Oil to my roots, and massaged through to the ends. I’m wearing my hair up in a bun with this treatment overnight. 😴. 🛀🏽 I’m noticing more of my hair growth coming back in at the front sides (I know there’s a name for that, but can’t think of it) 🤔. I can’t remember seeing my hair come back in like this, and it’s pretty nice! 😍. I’ve been using my vegan, anti-aging haircare now for about 2.5 months.
